Lucas has been branded as a “cheater” so he’s embraced it fully. He has a different girl for every day of the week. He’s also Avery’s worst nightmare. Avery has lost her job and finally landed an internship. What she didn’t realize is she’s working for Lucas “Satan” Thorn. How will she survive being near her sister’s cheating ex-fiancé? Or as she has tried to forget, her secret crush?

“‘Lucas, as much as I’d like to shove our history up your ass and light you on fire, I can’t, you know, because I wouldn’t survive prison, and they don’t have Starbucks there…But four years is a long time. I’ve changed.’ I sighed. ‘I mean, both of us have. I’m a mildly successful college graduate discovering what I want to do with my life, paying my own electricity bill and you’ – I pointed to him – ‘you…’

‘I what?’

He took a long sip of coffee. I didn’t wait for him to swallow.

‘You’re a lying, cheating whore.’ I said it sweetly, even batted my eyes at him. That made it better, right?”

Yeah...I loved it! So funny and awkward and sexy. Avery is just a foodie mess. You want forgiveness? Just offer her a pastry or Thai food. Lucas Thorn...I don't know how anyone could resist this sex on a stick. I loved all of the sister wives jokes and how feisty Avery was trying to ignore her feelings for Satan. The entire story was just so entertaining and fun to read. So many of the misunderstandings by his crazy parents really cracked me up. Talk about “shipping” a couple! His parents are the ultimate shippers! I couldn’t put this book down except to burst out laugh or shuddering at something they did.

If you love funny and crazy stories, you'll adore this quirky romance. Although it’s called “Cheater”, I kind of agree with Lucas. It’s not cheating if they know about each other. Don’t blame the player…

I loved Cheater, the story had me hooked, line and sinker! Don't let the title fool you though!
I love Lucas Thorn, self confessed cheater, although it's not cheating if they know, right???!!! Not sure on that one lol, do you agree??!
This book made me laugh out loud a lot!! The banter was hilarious as well as tongue in cheek but a beautiful story nonetheless!
The characters were brilliant to the point I could actually feel like I was in the story!
The sexual tension was off the charts!! Oh goodness me!
I would consider this a definite must read!

At first blush, I was so sure I wanted to hate Lucas Thorn (especially when I understood what it meant to say his full name, like a moniker). What I didn't expect is my heart to break for him so dramatically. Sure, most of his behavior is of the classic and deplorable player variety. However, I felt as though this were the symptom and not the actual issue at hand when it came to Lucas Thorn. Of course he's charismatic, hot, and knows all the right things to say. But that was Lucas Thorn, not the Lucas pre-disaster.

Avery Black had so many reasons to hate Lucas Thorn. Her fiery temper and love of food (especially all things pumpkin spice) seems to be the key to decoding and figuring out why a man who plagued her past is destined to plague her future. What does that mean? That things don't always seem as they appear and sometimes it's worth the investment of time and effort to discover what lies beneath.

This book is full of wit, snark, big feels, and hope. It's a steady-paced read that will take you by surprise. Then again, that's Van Dyken for you...that's how she rolls. So you know you can't go wrong with one of her books!

This was a good book. It had some funny moments. I was lost a little about what actually happened in the beginning. I think it was misleading. What happens doesn't explain to me why Lucas is the way he is.

I really didn't like Lucas. I don't like characters like him. Most women will love him so don't let my opinion stop you. I'm in the minority with how I want my main characters.

I really do recommend you try this book and form your own opinion on it! You may just love it!

Lucas Thorn doesn’t have just one girl…he has one for every day of the week. Loving his bachelor and carefree lifestyle Lucas is unprepared for the blast from his past, Avery Black. Avery Black needs her internship unfortunately her new boss also happens to be her sister’s cheating ex fiancé. When Avery was younger Lucas was her hero…and her crush but when he was caught cheating on her sister with her other sister he became someone she would never be able to trust again. Working with Lucas, Avery still holds on to old feeling from the past and when she learns of Lucas ‘playboy life style her blood beings to boil. Lucas is set in his ways, why change a good thing right? His lifestyle suits him perfectly but now with Avery in the picture why does he feel like it’s not working anymore?
Ok let me start off by saying I have been Thorned! Lucas Thorn now holds a very special place in my heart thanks to Rachel Van Dyken. Cheater is a hilarious lighthearted romance with very memorable characters, the non-stop banter between Lucas and Avery is priceless. I’m a huge fan of Rachel Van Dyken’s work and Cheater has become one of my all time favourites. Cheater is a must read, you will not be disappointed.

I LOVED THIS BOOK!! Please, please, please do not let the title make you shy away from this, it is a must read! This is not a cheater book but more of a second chance, best friends who lost their way and finding each other again and more.
Yes, Lucas has a girl for every day of the week but Sunday. Yes, Avery is his ex-fiancés sister, the ex he “cheated” on. BUT, there is SOOOO much more to this story. I can guarantee you will feel so many things reading this book. You WILL fall in love with Lucas. You will understand Lucas, his reasons, his whys, his heart.
Avery’s first words when she finds out Lucas is her boss for her internship is classic. I love how she doesn’t put up with crap, their banter is laugh-out-loud fun and the attraction and chemistry is electric.
I can’t go into too much because I don’t want to give anything away, but the conversation between Kayla and Lucas was so heartfelt and genuine, open and honest, it made me fall even more in love with Lucas.
This is a great ROM-COM read and RVD did a phenomenal job writing Lucas and Avery’s story. I’ve heard Thatch’s book is next and I can’t wait!

I’m not a fan of “cheater” storylines in the books that I read, in the tv shows that I watch, in my life in general. But I decided to give this one a chance because I have liked everything else that I’ve read by Rachel Van Dyken. And I’m happy that I did. This is NOT your typical cheater story…

This is the story of Lucas Thorn and Avery Black. They grew up across the street from one another. Lucas dated and was engaged to Avery’s older sister. That is up until the night before their wedding, when everything changed. Fast forward four years… Lucas doesn’t “do” commitment. He has women for every night of the week (except Sunday). Then the youngest Black daughter reenters his life.

Avery cannot believe she has to ‘work’ for Lucas. She’s never forgiven him for cheating on her sister (with their other sister). She’s going to make his life a living hell. A story that starts off as friends, then turns into enemies, finishes with lust and a heck of a lot more.

Cheater by Rachel Van Dyken is a somewhat sweet light and angsty love story. Typically, I tend to stay away from subject matters that deals with cheating since it’s something that my heart and emotions can’t handle but knowing that this is an RVD book, I knew I had to read it no matter what because I know RVD won’t let me down when it comes to her romance books.

Was this a conventional love story? Absolutely not and that’s why I think this book stood out in a way. It had that RVD signature but at the same time RVD pushed a little when it came to our emotions. Yes, there were moments I wanted to hate Lucas but then I was quickly reminded of his charm. You gotta love the fact that RVD can beautifully heart, laughter, tears, and angst into one story. So are you ready to meet Lucas Thorn and discover that he may not be a cheater after all and the only thing that you are cheating is missing out is meeting Lucas and Avery.

Please don't be out off by the title as without giving anything away, not everything is as it seems and Rachel does an amazing job of taking a some what dubious character (Lucas) and completely turning everything you thought you knew and thought you were going to feel around on its head.

I will say, that it took me a little while to get into this story and connect with it, however, when I did finally connect from about 20% in, then that was me, completely hooked to the end. This was a real fun filled story that had me smiling throughout but there were elements that really touched me too.

I for one, loved Lucas and Avery. They had amazing chemistry and I was genuinely routing for them. This was a sweet and sexy rom com and I would happily recommend it.

This book had me smiling, like big out grinning. Lucas is a cheater yes, but the reason why and the way it has altered his life and him are interesting to read. I loved Avery she is so spunky and her hatred for Lucas burns so deep, it leads to some inventive moments in the story. A very fun romance story but with the right amount of angst to not make it too sweet and more interesting to see the story develop. I am intrigued to see if more books are released as i feel there is room for this series to develop.

You know how they say never judge a book by it's cover? Well I say, never judge a book by it's title. Once again Rachel writes another phenomenal book. I love the whole storyline and how the book flows.

This was quick read for me and I even found myself laughing. I loved the relationship between Lucas and Avery. The good, the bad and the ugly. Not only that, but I look forward to reading the next book in this series as well. Thank you once again for another brilliant read.

Cheater is the first book in the Curious Liaisons series by the amazing Rachel Van Dyken! This is one of those times where you do not judge a book by its name and cover. Btw: I love both! So please read the book before you judge it. I know we all hate on cheaters but at the same time, we do love our manwhores. Rachel took a risk on this one and I love her for it.

Lucas Thorn made one epic mistake that cost him his fiancée, best friend, and ruined a friendship of twenty years between the parents of the bride and groom. But, it all worked out. He loves the life he has now. He has his weekly line-up of woman, an amazing job, and a kickass condo. His life was going great with his sex is my yoga type of lifestyle. That was until his new intern showed up and fucked it all up. Avery Black. The younger sister of his one-time fiancé. She is a pixie of a woman with fight, sass, and kickass right hook. She was only seventeen when he last saw her, she was beautiful then but she is gorgeous now. Yep. He was fucked.

Avery wants to hate Lucas aka Thorn. She hates what happened four years ago. It tore families apart. She needs this internship so she will suck it and up and deal with his whore ass. She will not let him ruin this. She saw the way he looks at her. She is determined to to keep all of her walls up and not let him Thorn her. Instead, she is going to make his life hell. Will she be able to keep things professional while hating on him?

I loved this story! It pushes the envelope. It's hilarious, flirty, sexy, and has the perfect amount of angst. Lucas and Avery's banter is epic. The sexual tension is amazing. They have a long history that comes into play and it's a complicated one. It's makes the story even better! I love Lucas and Avery but I wanted to slap them more than once. I also wanted to hug them and be their friends. Just like the characters, I had mixed feelings. But, something I wasn't mixed about was Avery's love of food...no salads for this girl.

Overall...it was hilarious, beautiful, and sexy ride! This is both what I expected because it's Rachel but it was also unexpected because of the title. I am telling you again...do not judge until you read it.

Quotes:

“Look at me like that again and I’m putting Ex-Lax in your coffee, then locking all the bathroom doors.”

“YOU’RE IMPOSSIBLE!”
“I’M A WOMAN!” I raised my voice even more.

“Someone should hold out a piece of bacon and time your sprints,” he joked.

Lucas Thorne is your next book boyfriend. So hot and funny, the angst is killer.

I know a lot of people won't read this book because of the title. Or maybe you will because you're here trying to find out more about it. "Cheater" is a hard limit for some, I know.... but don't always judge a book by it's cover... or title in this case... and all that jazz. Give it a chance!

Cheater is light and fluffy... a good rom-com if you will. It's definitely over the top. Way way over the top. Too over the top for me to even consider being realistic, which is how I like my reads, but I still enjoyed it. It's nice to get lost in a book sometimes, get away from that expected reality of normal, even if it is silly at times.

We have a man-whore on our hands here. We're talking like, different woman every day of the week here. Then he goes and gets involved with his ex fiance's sister. He was the big brother she never had. Yeah, let that sink in. Interesting to say the least, very very interesting!

Is this my favorite RVD novel? No. Will I continue to love her and read her books? Absolutely!

The title made me hesitant but the author made me confident that I wouldn't be disappointed and I wasn't. On the first page of the prologue, Lucas says 'you will hate me' and honestly for a good portion of this book I did. But he also said 'you'll understand' and that was true too. I didn't necessarily like his reasons but objectively, they totally make sense.

To say Lucas gets around after not getting married to his high school sweetheart is a huge understatement. He has a different girl for every day of the week except Sunday and has no intention of having a real relationship with any of them. Avery is the sister of the woman he jilted. She hates Lucas for cheating on her sister and now that she has to work for him or move back home, she has decided that she can get some revenge. Except her revenge leads to a lot of complications and reveals chemistry that is off the charts.

I definitely didn't like Lucas for a lot of this story but by the end I kinda loved him and while his reasons for getting around weren't great, they totally made sense from his POV. Avery was an amazing character. She's one of the funniest characters I've read in a really long time. This story definitely wasn't what I thought it was going to be. It was better than I could have imagined and I'm really looking forward to the next book in the series!

I wish I had the option for more than five starts. This is yet another fantastic read from Rachel Van Dyken. I have never been disappointed with one of her books. She is a must read, ASAP author for me.

This story will have you laughing out loud, so much. You won’t be able to put this story down. Once you’re finished, you will want more of Lucas Thorn and Avery. I know I do.

This story is the cheater, Lucas, side of what happened and how he became the man-whore extraordinaire that he is.

Things aren’t always as they seem though.

And is it really cheating if the women know about each other? Yes, I said women. As in one for everyday of the week, except for Sunday.

I absolutely love Avery. Her mouth just takes off and has a mind of its own. And she loves food. Like really loves food. She would probably marry food if she could.

The banter between these two is funny and awesome. The chemistry is off the charts, so is the sexual tension.

The story line is amazing. Not only will you be laughing, but you will want to punch a sister in the face with a steel chair.

Oh and there is a crazy mom that just makes things even more fun!

I really hope we get updates on these two. I am totally in love with them.

I can’t wait for Thatch’s story next. I hope Avery did slash his tires!

Seeing the cover and synopsis of this book made me apprehensive. RVD assured readers this would not be a book about “cheating”, but for the first time ever I wasn’t thrilled to read a book from RVD. The beginning chapters did little to calm my apprehension. I found Lucas to be unlikable and a complete jerk. I had to rely on a fellow book friend and reviewer to get me through the early chapters. As much as Lucas annoyed me, I was immersed in the story and found it to be an addicting read.

"It had been four years since I’d last seen her, but it felt like yesterday. She should have zero effect on me. And yet. She did."

RVD is one of the few authors that can pull off over the top comedy so effortlessly. I enjoyed their endless banter and silly antics from Avery and Lucas. From the first moment, there is undeniable chemistry despite their supposed disdain for each other. I wondered if these two would ever stop with their failed attempts at hating each other.

Hating him was difficult. Being attracted to him was inevitable.

It took me over the 30% mark to see Lucas in a different light. His character development is slow but entertaining. I enjoyed the wild and crazy ride and feel foolish for ever doubting RVD’s abilities. As with all her books, the supporting cast is entertaining and leaves interest for future books. This normally would have been a 3.5 Star read for me. Since my opinion of Lucas changed so drastically from the beginning, I feel it earns a 4 Star. I am excited for their story in the next installment since there were questions left unanswered about Thatch and Austin.

I recommend Cheater to anyone looking for a light romcom with a hate to love trope.

Stop what you are doing and buy this book. It is not a traditional cheating book and it is not what you think! It is a wonderful friends-to-enemies-to-lovers romance that is very entertaining. Yes, there are women, but if everyone is on the same page, who cares? Well, that’s where it gets tricky and once Avery falls back into Lucas Thorn’s life what happens is anyone’s guess.

I hate that Lucas considers himself a cheater, in fact, I hate that everyone considers him a cheater. But, you have to read this story to find out the truth of the matter. Rachel Van Dyken has swept us away once again with a delicious story that will have you hooked from the word go. She delves into the heart of the matter and with only a few heartbreaks gives us a flawless love story.

I enjoyed the twists throughout the story and I think they kept me on my toes. All of the differences in the “girls” versus what Lucas truly wanted. Lucas as a character is funny, charming, witty, and sexy. Says just the right thing, although maybe at not always the right times. Avery is young, funny, and out for vengeance. Well, until she actually gets to know Lucas again. I loved, loved, loved this story and it makes me want to buy each of you a copy.

Lust, passion, hatred, quirkiness, love, and romance all rolled into a fun weekend read from Rachel Van Dyken. RVD knows how to keep you on edge throughout the book and that makes this love story one to read.

P.S. It’s not what you think! Get it and find out why I’m in love with Lucas Thorn.

A man whose past had a hand in molding him into someone he thought he was

A woman whose trying to grow into someone she wants to be

An unconventional story where the past comes into the present. Rachel Van Dyken does it again a story that has the right balance of humor and omg moments. I enjoyed reading this story and would recommend it to others. Even when you think you know where everything is going there's a good chance you're wrong

4.5*
The saying ‘Don’t judge a book by it’s cover’ is one that we all know and one we use a lot, I’ve never really thought about it before but the same can be said for book titles and Cheater proved that to me... I despise cheating in all forms so I was more than a little bit apprehensive about reading this one but I really should have known better, after all it is Rachel we’re talking about and she never disappoints ;).

I’m not going to sit here and say that I loved Lucas from the very first word or anything like that but what I will say is that by the last word... I was head over heels... I had been Thorned, there is just something about him that gradually drew me in like a moth to a flame! Lucas and Avery are quite frankly epic, I loved their back and forth banter and how they were constantly pushing each other, they really are something else. It has to be said I honestly can’t remember the last time I laughed so hard over a book, I lost count of how many times I had to go back a re read a bit because I was laughing too hard to take it all in, I’d definitely re read Cheater just for the laughs alone, but when you add in the fantastic story and characters it’s a no brainer and I know for sure I will end up re reading it often. I feel the need to mention Lucas’ parents... They are quirky, hilarious and I’m sure they decided when they had kids that they were going to be as embarrassing as they possibly could, they are just brilliant!

I’m not going to go into too much detail about the story but I will say this... If you’re like me and are a bit apprehensive just give it a chance, Lucas will grow on you and you’ll soon learn everything isn’t as it seems, after all there are two sides to every story and thank god Cheater is told from both Lucas and Avery’s POVs, I think I would have gone mad if it was a single POV book, it’s just one of those books where you NEED all the information! Thank you for another fantastic book Rachel :).
