I truly loved the first book in this series and was rather eager to get into this one. Some time has passed since then, so this may have definitely hindered my reading experience. The one thing that truly stood out for me was that there was little to no romance in this one and that held me back from enjoying this.

I definitely considered book 1 to be a science fiction romance, but that's just me, personally. The relationship between Millicent and Ryker is still stronger than ever especially with their kids in the mix. They had their little moments they shared here and there, but never enough to my liking.

As for the science-fiction side, it's there 100%. I loved the constant action from beginning to end. As thrilling as it was, there was something that wasn't pulling me in. The multiple POVs and overwhelming introductions of different characters had me confused at times. But I'm going to say that because it has been years since my last read in this series, I'm sure I have forgotten who they were.

As far as K.F. Breene books go, not quite my favorite, but still an enjoyable read.

Loved this story, and the characters. Millie and Ryker are trying to take down the big guns, and save their world. This book is full of action and a great read.

“There is a future for you, but you have to be tough enough to take it. It won’t be handed to you. You have to take it!”

K.F. Breene’s second installation in her Finding Paradise series is Fate of Devotion . After rescuing Marie and escaping with Ryker from corporate-controlled America/Earth, the three thought they were safe on their off-planet home of Paradise. But while they have been gone, Toton – one of the three major conglomerates, thought by everyone to be the weakest – has been making significant strides in their drive for domination over the other two conglomerates (Moxidone and Gregon Corp). Realizing that it is only a matter of time before Toton comes for them and their gifts (especially Marie’s), they go back to Earth to try and stop the rogue conglomerate before it is too late.

While this second installment was lighter on the romance and possibly heavier on the action, it was also lighter on the genetics. One of the things that intrigued me so much about the last book was that it went more in-depth regarding the idea of selective genetic breeding (though it was still relatively vague). However, although we are introduced to a group of kids with “special” abilities rivaling those of Marie, the author doesn’t significantly delve into the genetics enough for my analytical, science-y brain – though, that could also do with the fact that Trevor McAllister (aka the genetics scientist) was in survival mode and didn’t really have enough time to delve into that aspect of the story, but I digress…

Overall, I thought Fate of Devotion was slightly better than its predecessor Fate of Perfection , mostly because it wasn’t as heavy on the romance, but also because it introduced some interesting new characters, such as the previously-mentioned “special” children and Millicent’s previous work adversary and blood sister, Danissa. I really liked the sisterly competition between Millicent and Danissa, and even though they had been bitter rivals, they quickly learned to work together and challenge each other to maximize the chances of their survival.

The ending was satisfying enough that most loose ends were tied up, though it also leaves some open-endedness if the author wants to go back in the future and further explore this world.

Great story and great characters. I really like the premise of this series and the few flaws I saw in the first book seem to have disappeared in this one.

Fate of Devotion (Finding Paradise #2) by K.F. Breene. Holy! Ryker and Millie continue the fight against the conglomerates only to come back to Earth 5 years later and find total devastation. Their objective this mission is to take down Toton, a powerful conglomerate, find Millie's sister, and rescue other "gifted" children. Fate of Perfection, Book #1, was good but this book was so much more. Non-stop action from the beginning. Oh the situations they find themselves in. While reading this, I kept thinking what a great sci-fi movie this would make because the author does such a great job of completely enveloping the reader within the story itself. If you liked the first book you will enjoy this one too. I also recommend The Warrior Chronicles by this author.

I could not wait to get my hands on the second installment of Finding Paradise! I must start with the fact that you really need to read Book 1 Fate of Perfection first to really understand how great this book is! K.F. does a great job introducing the reader to what is going on but the world she created has so many layers that you really need to read the first book in order to understand the characters, the world(s) they live in and why their mission is so important! That being said this book starts out with non-stop action until the last page and in between the pages you get to be treated with K.F.’s great character banter, humor in the most inappropriate situations and the true feeling that family are the people you take under your wings and care for!

As Millie says “Biology was a real asshole!” and that sums up so much!!!

One of my favorite things about this latest book is that you really get to dive deeper into Trent’s persona and I have to hand it to him, he has come a long way since book 1!

“There’s no need to be so chatty about unimportant things, sir” Rhett whispers.

To which Trent responds, “You do you, let me do me.” That is a new side of Trent that we would not have seen had it not been for his previous near death experiences from there escape from Earth! He may still be out of his league when it comes to all this hero stuff but he can stand up on his own two feet and that is a far cry from the man he was before his abduction!

Another thing that I loved so much was the introduction of new kids. They have lived with nothing but war and have formed a bond tighter than family even though everyone around them thinks they are monsters they are truly unique, intelligent, survivors who just need to know they are not alone.

I did not want this book to end let me tell you! There is so much more that needs to be known! Please, please, please say there will be another book!!!

I absolutely love this series and this book. It takes off after Millicent and Ryker had rescued their child Marie from corporate-controlled Earth. They were living on another planet, safe with more children. However, the discovered there was a plot to destroy earth that could impact their present paradise so the returned to earth to fight a new battle. The characters remained just as amazing as they did in the first book and the children in the book make it even more unique and interesting. I found this to be an exciting series that I could not put down and I highly recommend it.
