This book was haunting, intense and insanely hard to put down. If you're looking for a moody read, this is perfect.
This one just didn't work for me. I tried several times to read this and it just never clicked. Sorry!
I liked the combination of romance and mystery in this book, though it did make me feel like a bit was missing from each side. Overall, it was a good read, though!
A quick and enjoyable read. I enjoyed the characters and the bond that they formed.
I look forward to more from the author and appreciate the opportunity to read and review.

Unexpected Love is Often the Sweetest
I stumbled upon the Enchantment of Emma Fletcher and I am so happy I did. Honestly this book was tantalizing. Just the right amount of anticipation and bread crumbs to keep the reader engaged. My average reading time for a book is 2-5 days and I devoured this book in one sitting. #squadgoals…This is the first book from Ms. Crichton but I sure hope it isn’t the last. The flow was very smooth and the characters were a blast to hang out with. Not too long and not too short this was the perfect size to convey a sweet romance and enable a fun escape. Contemporary for sure but it touched on several literary tropes that made me enjoy it all the more.
The Story, Emma feels like a failure and the last thing she wants to do is return to her summer home. She is wanting to erase a haunting nightmare that has taken over her life. First she must run then she must figure out a way to move forward with her life. Emma is none too excited to deal with her alcoholic mother but something has changed. Surprised by what she finds Emma decides to take a chance on a relationship with the person who let her down as a child. Reuniting with her best friend Marley these fabulous duo will capture the sights of two of Stonefall’s most eligible bachelors. Having fun and rediscovering romance is a nice adventure for Emma and she is enjoying herself but the past has a way of creeping up and it really challenges everything she is working towards.
The Characters, Emma, Tristan, Marley, and Mateo were all a blast to read about they were definitely my favorite part of this book. Their characters really came to life and brought this story together very nicely. Emma is dealing with a very difficult demon and her personality still shines through and captures the attention of Tristan. Mateo and Marley are the best friends of our lead characters and they were very complementing. If I had to pick a favorite character it would have to be Tristan of course. He is kind and loving and a little broken too. I loved the way he was able to bring Emma’s walls down their love story was an endearing one to read.
The End, as I mentioned the past comes calling and Emma has to confront her demons. I really enjoyed the way the author lays out the ending. No one is saved by someone else, these characters each find a way to save themselves. There was a moment there towards the end where I was cringing so this is definitely a read for a more mature audience but overall it was addressed very well.

Trigger Warning – Sexual Assault
First off, let me start by saying that any time one of my favourite Wattpad authors has a book out in the world via publishing, it makes my heart happy. I mean, I’ve been on Wattpad for almost 8 years now and there are so many great authors out there and they deserve to have their book read by so many people. So, of course, I was really, really, really excited for her debut published novel. And let me tell you, it did not disappoint in the least. It is so, so, so good. I absolutely loved it. I finished the entire thing in two sittings of probably an hour and a half each. Adulting and real life got in the way or I have read this in one go. It is just so amaze. I loved it.
Emma, the protag, is such an amazing character. She has so many demons especially after growing up with an absentee father and an alcoholic mother. Her best friend Marley has been her only support system for a long time and that is saying something because she only meets Marley for the summer every year. She hasn’t done that in almost 2 years when the book opens. Apart from that, of course, she is dealing with other stuff and it is portrayed so beautifully. I loved how she grew from this person afraid from her own shadow to being self reliant. It was an amazing journey. I loved how just getting into a relationship with someone didn’t miraculously cure her of her issues. That has been done so many times and frankly, it’s just so unbelievable and cringe worthy. Nobody can just save you. You have to save yourself. And that was shown so amazingly in the story. I loved that. I mean, yes, there were times when it felt like being with Tristan changed her, but when you read the whole thing and look back on it, you find out that Emma simply brushed it all under the rug and refused to think about it or deal with it and just concentrated on being with Tristan and how good it felt to be in his company. But, in the end, the way she stood up for herself and for Marley and didn’t give in, it made me so proud.
Then, there’s Tristan. He’s fighting demons of his own and he has a shit ton of stuff to deal with. It’s not been sunshine and roses for him. I loved that there was more to him than just the resident town bad boy sleeping around with his pick of the litter and then changing when he met this girl. There are things in his past, too. It was so, so, so heartbreaking. But, he’s so sweet and thoughtful. I love that. But, he’s also hot and sexy. And sassy. It was fun to see all these different sides of him unfold through the story. But, mostly, I love how protective he is of Emma. Even before they were dating, Tristan always made sure to look after Emma, to ensure she was comfortable. It was really sweet of him to be so concerned about her. He was a really good friend to her. I really liked that.
The writing is so beautiful and poignant. I loved that it captured you right away and made you want to read, read, read. So, amaze. The plot too. It was really well done and well thought out plot and I loved how things progressed. I loved how being in a relationship/being in love was not a crutch to forget all your problems and miraculously get better.
I would definitely recommend it if you’re into romance. This is one amazing story!
Emma was attacked and left for dead and ended up back home. She never wanted to be back here. She wants to be there unnoticed and leave as soon as she could. But she is surprised by the greeting she received from old friends from childhood- Mateo, Tristan, Marley. With the help of her friends Emma where she is to be to be happy. Tristan had his own past and secrets but he felt attracted to Emma and he was very protective of Emma. Tristan overcame his fear to help Emma. Emma found out she was strong enough to start over. But she also had Tristan. Emma wants to be the girl she used to be with the help of her best friend Marley. Both Emma and Tristan are reluctant to to get in a relationship at first but that quickly changed. Emma has to deal with memories of her past and alcoholic mother.
I really enjoyed this story. It was mostly a quick and good read. This story was well written with a good plot. This story choked me up at times and made me smile at other times. The story was intriguing at times. I loved the friendship of Marley and Mateo and Tristan. I do feel like Tristan’s and Emma’s relationship moved a little too fast especially for what they had been through but it didn’t hurt the story in any way. I loved the characters and the ins and outs of this story and I recommend
A young adult book and a mystery combined that for me just didn't hit the right spot. Emma Fletcher had something happened in her past and it has greatly affected her and she has decided to return home, not that home was the best and safe place to come from. Tristan Banks never left and has been trying to work his way up in life and in walks Emma.
The writing was just not great. It read fine, but was just ok. I wanted more from it - beginning, middle and end.
The other thing that didn't do it for me was the mystery part. I like my mysteries to take my breath away and I could tell where this was going from a long ways away and it was disappointing.
I would recommend this one to readers who are already fans of the young adult genre. As I don't read a ton in this genre, it takes a lot for one to stick out for me and for me to enjoy it.
I loved this small-town story where fears can be overcome and trust regained. It’s also a story of people depending on each other.
Emma comes to town with lots of baggage. Most of us have some or another when a new relationship presents itself. But what’s lovely about this story is the understanding and interest which Tristan has for Emma. Everyone knows she’s hot looking, but few look deeper.
Marley, Emma’s best friend, and sometimes confidant, is pure and simply a fun character to get to know. She secretly has a thing for Mateo, and he has been eyeing her for years, daring not to approach her, because she’s just too perfect. Little does Mateo know, he is as perfect as she is. Fun times when they get together.
Tristan and Mateo have been pals forever and they support each other 100%. Tristan also has come back to this small town to help his dad in the auto shop, after getting a great education. He sees his roots in this small town and is a man one can count on.
Things get bad when Emma’s nightmare comes to town (he’ll be your worst nightmare!). He did some major physical trauma to Emma when she thought she was interested in him. She lost her self-esteem, belief in herself, and is totally traumatized–hiding out now where her mom lives. Thank God, she now has Tristan.
I loved the story–the sweetness and courage of the two couples, backing each other up when necessary. I enjoyed the courage Emma had when Tristan became her thing. It’s everything a small-town story should entail. Very well written, and I’m delighted I had the chance to read and review.
In The Enchantment of Emma Fletcher, Emma has come to live with her mother after an attack to try to get her life back. In reconnecting with old friend, she gets to know Tristan again. He is dealing with his own demons. They may just be able to find salvation in each other.
I really enjoyed this one. I guess it would fall into the New Adult category since the characters are younger. But they honestly felt much more mature than their age, which was refreshing. I loved watching Emma and Tristan go from friends to lovers. One of my favorite scenes was the photo booth scene. It was such a sigh worthy romantic moment! I also loved the secondary love story of Marley and Mateo. Can you say "too cute"? I don't want to give away too much of the plot. I'll just leave you with a recommendation that you definitely check this debut book out.
About:
A young woman desperate to outrun her nightmare reluctantly falls straight into the arms of the one boy who might be able to wake her up in this sweet and sexy debut about finding love while confronting your demons.
After Emma Fletcher is viciously attacked and left for dead, she flees to her old childhood hometown where she’s confronted with bitter memories of her damaged past and alcoholic mother. Emma is determined to make her stay temporary and get out with minimal emotional damage. What she doesn’t count on is Tristan Banks: auto mechanic, coffee addict, and town hottie with dark secrets of his own.
Tristan’s track record of saving girls has historically led to failure. The last thing he needs is trouble in the form of a leggy brunette with an attitude, but when he starts to fall for Emma, Tristan realizes the only way he can save her is to help her save herself.
My Feels:
From the first page of this debut novel I knew that my reading slump was over and had a new member of the fam to add to my 'read it again' list.
Emma Fletcher running from a horrific moment that changed her life. From a monster that changed her life. And while the place she is running to is more of a last resort and definitely not permanent in her mind, fate has other plans for her in the form of mechanic Tristan Banks.
Your new book boyfriend, btw. Sweet, hot and protective. Like they should be.
He comes to her aid after her car breaks down and the two begin a journey of saving and healing each other. Reminding each other that, even though there is bad in the world, there is also good. And sometimes even greatness.
Tristan himself is no stranger to pain, having experienced his own tragedy. And once he learns Emma's secret, he is more determined than ever to make sure that he's there this time to do everything he can to keep from going through that type of loss again.
He needs Emma just as much as she needs him. Have you ever met someone who you just knew was suppose to be in your life? Like when you met them it was like a puzzle piece fitting into place or your heart saying "Oh, there you are. I've been looking for you."? That's what these two are for each other.
❝This morning when I first woke up, I stared at Emma asleep in my bed. She was intoxicating. Each breath she took, I found myself holding mine as if my existence depended on her own. This shit was crazy fast, too fast maybe, but she did something to me. Emma Fletcher wormed her way into my heart, injecting it with a warmth I hadn’t felt in what seemed like forever.❞
Even the secondary characters were enjoyable. They were the type of friends that you hope to have in life and really flowed well with the story.
Most importantly, I like that they didn't make Emma a victim. That, even though help from others isn't a bad thing, they gave her the tools to save herself.
“It’s the part of yours that is going to end with the princess being able to kick some major ass.”
In my opinion, if any of her future books are like this, then L.D. Crichton just got added to my pre-order library!
*I received this book from NetGalley to review and I'm so glad I did!
This book was an ok read. Parts of it were very VERY cliched, but the romance was pretty solid. It was also very predictable. The start of the book was pretty fast paced and will get you interested in the story. I loved the dual POVs from Emma and Tristen. However, I wish that Tristen's POV would have had slightly less manwhorish content. Parts of the way the guys talk just make them less likable. All the characters felt like they were running away from something. I liked how we didn't get all of the pieces up front, and we got to learn about each character a little at a time throughout the story. I really liked Emma and how she began to not only trust herself more but also those around her.
Although this book was not perfect, it was pretty good.
This was a cute book but just so typical, it seems like I have read it before.
The Enchantment of Emma Fletcher is a story about rising above, trusting in friends and family, and second chances in life.
Emma Fletcher is back in town, not exactly where she want to be. After a tragic event in life, she is forced to go back to the place she never wanted to come back, the little town Stonefall where she grew up. Despite she wanted to get in unnoticed, get back to her feet and leave Stonefall as fast as she could, she finds herself with a surprising and warm greeting from old friends from her childhood, Mateo, Tristan and Marley. With the help of her friends, and the love she less expected, Emma finds her place in this world, especially because she is now away from the dangers of her past. On the other hand of the story, there was Tristan, with his own demons chasing him, but the connection between him and Emma is so strong, that he felt very protective of her and he overpassed his own fears and failures in order to help her and himself in the process.
I loved this book since the moment I started it. It’s so good to connect with the writing style from the beginning of the book, especially when it’s an author I’ve never read before, because I don’t feel “forced” to read it in order to enjoy the story. With The Enchantment of Emma Fletcher I felt like I knew Emma, Tristan, Mateo and Marley my whole life and I understood all their feelings. I wanted the best for all of them, and I’m so happy they could get their HEA. There was a particular aspect about this book that I loved the most and it was the friendship between the four characters, especially Tristan and Mateo’s #BromanceFTW. They teased each other, it was fun and lighthearted, but when they needed each other’s support, they were always there.
Emma and Marley’s friendship was great too. It’s one of those relationships when you admire the other one for everything they represent and in the end it was the other way around. Marley, Tristan and Mateo were the support Emma needed but in the end, it was her own strength who really helped her move on and start over, and not alone but with the unexpected love of Tristan #NewBookBoyfriendAlert
Kudos to L.D. Crichton for her debut novel, it was greatly written, with a very interesting plot that kept me intrigued all the time, awesome characters that made me fall in love with all of them and one beautiful HEA. And please, L.D., write a book for Mateo and Marley, I need more of those M&M <3
This is my first time reading anything by this author. It looks like this might be her first time publishing something on a platform other than Wattpad though, which means I definitely have to check her out over there!
Both Tristan and Emma have a bit of tragedy from their recent pasts that they are trying to move on from and it makes bits and pieces of this story rather emotional but, over all, this story ended up being a feel-good tale in my opinion.
Tristan was sexy, smart and super sweet, sometimes even overly sappy. Emma was clearly guarded and a bit broken but she was still a likeable character who didn't hide behind a bitchy personality. Their relationship moved a bit quicker than you would expect from people who had gone through what they had, but it never felt rushed or unrealistic. They brought out the best in each other.
Mateo and Marley might have played secondary characters but they really were an important, and interesting addition to the story. The dynamic of this foursome's friendship is part of what really made the story great.
The Enchanment of Emma Fletcher is story of broken hearts, friendship, new beginnings and learning that sometimes the only person who can save you is yourself and I really enjoyed the journey. I would definitely read something else from this author.
I would like to thank L.D. Crichton , Gallery and Netgalley for giving me this book for my honest review!

The Enchantment of Emma Fletcher was a quick read but with super full with angsy tough storylines. Be warned there are subject matters that might be hard for some people.
The story is follows a mysterious Emma, you can totally tell she is hiding one hell of a past. In her youth she ran away from her town as fast as she could and never looked back. Sadly she is forced to come back home after she was attacked. Once she returned home she is face with her past that she ran from and now a present that she is running from. She is seriously stuck between a rock and a hard place in the worse way. The last thing she expected to add to her over full plate was Tristan. Now Tristan has stuff from his past that he will like to keep under the surface.
The Enchantment of Emma Fletcher was a good read and the complex character and hella angsy storyline kept me glued to my kindle. I was able to devour this book in a day. I need to applaud L.D. Crichton as this is her debut novel and I look forward to more by her.

Two people with troubling pasts surprisingly connect when bad luck has their paths crossing. Neither is looking to be in a relationship, as they do not think the time is right. But sometimes the heart is wiser than the mind, especially when fate gives this couple the chance to explore unexpected possibilities. L.D. Crichton has written a compelling story of overcoming tragedy and moving forward. I truly experienced the wide range of emotions felt by all the characters, as all feelings are conveyed with genuineness. THE ENCHANTMENT OF EMMA FLETCHER is heartfelt and very realistic.
Emma Fletcher would rather not have returned to Stonefall. But too much has gone wrong in her life, so she is back in the town where her mother lives and she frequently visited when younger. While a devastating incident makes her long for something stable, she knows there is little chance of finding it in the place where only a few good things ever happened to her. Once she arrives and starts to settle in for a short period, people that she knew from before enter her life once more. One person keeps turning up, and Emma remembers Tristan Banks as being a good-looking guy in the town. Now she has discovered just how charming he can be, too.
The main reason Emma came to the area was to get her life back on track after being attacked, and she strives to find comfort in day-to-day activities. She also sees Tristan a lot, and he senses there is something bothering her and would really like to help if he can. As he tries to be there for her when she needs someone, they become closer yet secrets remain unspoken.
Though Tristan and Emma are still suffering the aftereffects of previous events, the way in which they deal with these happenings are very different. He tries to not think about what occurred as much anymore, while she is still consumed with fear. The author had me really feeling for these two, as the circumstances surrounding them could easily take place. Facing a past occurrence that continues to influence a person’s current life is not always without plenty of challenges, and those which Tristan and Emma must tackle are certainly demanding at times. Their anguish was very apparent on numerous occasions, and I ached right along with them. There are also some more lighthearted moments when they had fun or cleverly bantered. The couple expresses their honest feelings for one another with tender caring, and these moments came across as truly sincere. THE ENCHANTMENT OF EMMA FLETCHER is emotionally rewarding.
A secondary couple in the story is delightful, as their relationship is filled with hopeful expectation and much wit. The main four characters are all in their early to mid-twenties, and their conversations are exactly what I would expect of individuals who are this age. Viewpoints are from both Tristan and Emma, thus letting me know how they felt about the same situation. L.D. Crichton has created an interesting story about true-to-life people, and I look forward to more books from this author.
I voluntarily reviewed the book from the publisher, and all comments are my honest opinion

I have mixed feeling about this book. On one hand, I loved the connections between the and the story overall. I love how Tristan cared for Emma and how they cautiously came together. I love how the 4 friends became a tight group that looked out for each other. I really enjoyed the bit of suspense she added to the mix too.
On the other hand, I really did not feel overly connected to the characters myself. Whether it was because they were young or the author just did not put in enough depth to the story, I felt something was missing.
I really loved this story. I think the author did a great job. I am looking for that extra spark of connection for me but will definitely look for more from this up and coming author! She will only get better.

I'm not usually one for a angsty story, especially when an attack is part of it, but something intrigued me enough to download it.
I really liked this cast of characters. Emma, Tristan, Marley, and Mateo are easily some of the best supportive friends, I've ever read. I loved their dynamic and how they were all comfortable together. Of course, when they coupled off I was grinning like a loon.
The plot was a bit predictable and maybe a bit clichéd at times, but I did like how Emma grew and started trusting herself. I would have liked a bit more at the end, as it had a good build up and then just rushed through the conflict.
Overall, it was a quick, enjoyable read.
**Huge thanks to Pocket Star and NetGalley for the invite to read**
A fantastic, quick, fun read. I very much enjoyed the characters and their witty banter. Here's to the next one, which hopefully will be the Mateo and Marley story.
