Dr. Faith Reynolds has found an skeleton that looks remarkably like a dragon. When Dimitri is sent to keep the secrets of the Dragon race hidden, he has to deal with Faith who is human and he generally stays away from. He didn't expect to find himself protective of her. With an old enemy trying to create havoc.

There is a heat that builds up between Faith and Dimitri, like a pull you feel from the moment the couple is introduced to one another. I have not read the full series so at times did feel a bit lost but overall this was entertaining and made me want to go back to the beginning. Had a very visual description throughout the book. Great read.

Dragons, betrayal and intrigue fill the world of the Dark Kings. Book ten in this series features the very sexy Dimitri. For those who are just joining this series, this book can be read without reading the previous books in the series. It is easy to catch up to speed on the state of the world. A reader quickly learns how the Dragon shifters keep on fighting their invisible to man war. Ms. Grant does a nice job with short recaps and flashbacks to the past.

Dimitri has been alone for so long he has forgotten what it is like to have someone to share his life with, more than just his brothers in arm. He is used to being sent on missions to keep humans from rediscovering dragons. Unfortunately, it is becoming more and more difficult with technology and the restlessly Fae. When Dimitri finds out an archaeologist discovers evidence of dragon bones in his ancestral home, he is angry yet intrigued. How is it possible to have bones left there? And which dragon was left behind? There should have been none. This is the intrigue of the story which captures my attention and then leaves me hanging. I am left with unanswered questions and hope they materialize in the next book. The focus on this book is more about Dragon versus Fae power struggles and Dimitri's interest in Faith, the archaeologist.

Character wise, Dimitri is the standard alpha male who is loyal, trustworthy, a bit of a loner and exudes a sexual mysterious air about him. When Faith responds to his sexy pheromones and tries to deny it, it piques Dimitri's interest. There isn't exactly an insta-lust between the two, but there is good erotic chemistry. These two are similar in some ways and very different in others. This makes their interactions amusing when they have opposing views. I like how Faith is not a pushover. She is determined to do what she believes is right. She is unprepared for the supernatural world yet glides into it like a pro. Both characters are easy to like and admirable.

Erotically speaking, this story is a bit tame for me. This is because I do read kinky erotica. Still, the sex scenes are hot and just the right amount to keep it from becoming gratuitous. The way the story is told is spellbinding as I felt completely pulled into the story. Ms. Grant weaves a spell around her readers, captivating them until she's done spinning her tale. This magical world of dragon shifters and other supernatural predators that go bump in the night is a smooth read. It is hard to put the book down. This paranormal erotica is recommended to readers who love dragons, shifters and alpha men.

Loved this book! Dimitri never stood out to me... I honestly don't even remember him at all before this book. It's been a long while since I've read about the Dragon Kings but still. I kind of love him. He hated humans and never wanted to mate but as soon as he met Faith he changed his mind. Yes it's cliche but what I loved about this book was that he didn't fight it the whole damn book. A lot of these books have the couple fighting each other until the end and that's annoying. Faith and Dimitri get together pretty much right away and I am totally okay with that. Actually I prefer that. I liked seeing them work together and I like that they didn't hide their feelings and just accepted that they were into each other. Why fight it? It's a time of war. Take what happiness you can.

Now the storyline.. you know besides the romance.. I am not sure how to talk about it with out giving it away. So I'll just say that things take an interesting twist. And things are getting interesting with Con.

As always Donna Grant's writing is fabulous. This story has been going on forever and it's still just as interesting as it was with the first Highlander book. I love that the warriors and druids get mentioned. I just love Donna Grant and this whole world.

I got this book from NetGalley with no expectation for review.

Firestorm is a great enter into the Dark King's world and author Donna Grant has done an great job of keeping the main story and all the side stories moving along seamlessly. Word of caution for those who haven't had to chance to read the previous installments of this series, you will be kind of confused/lost (like I was) without the background for the side stories. That issue aside, the story itself was great.

In this installment, the reader can see where the author is skillfully weaving together all the elements that make a great paranormal read. There is solid world building with solid characters to back it up. Though I am a fan of shifters in my stories, I've never really gotten into dragons. Well, this story is helping to change my mind. Dragon King Dimitri is duty bound and focused but not too focused that he can't recognize his destiny right in front of him. Protective and mindful of what's at stake, Dimitri just wants to stay on task but that will not happen if he can't keep his mind and hands off Faith. The ever curious Faith just knows she is on to something big and she will not let anything distract her. Even if the distraction comes in the sexy package of Muscles the Dragon King.

Now, I must admit that the heroine worked my nerves a bit. Her noisy scale was off the charts but what did I expect … her life is a life of inquiry. I found her to be passionate about her work and protective about the ones around her. There is great chemistry between the leading characters with plenty of action sequences and plotting/scheming secondary characters.

Review:

Another book I read recently with an archaeological spin to it.

This one is full of supernatural beings and much more fantasy where the other was contemporary with a little fantasy. I did like this one as much as I liked that other book. I liked how the Author gave me a alternative world where dragons are hiding and fighting against their own and other dark forces to protect dragons and humanity. Her characters are interesting too. Dimitri and Faith have great chemistry and are both strong individuals who make a strong team. Of course, they are both attractive and attracted to each other and the intimate scenes are very well written and quite steamy. They are good people too, or in Dimitri's case good dragon. There is lots of action in this story also. So many different ulterior motives and machinations going on also. This is where I have to say that I should have read the other books in the series first because I was a little lost on who everyone is and where they fit in. This is book #10 in the series and while it was not necessary I think for my reading enjoyment I would have been a little less lost if I had read the other books first. One other thing I would say is that not everything is answered by the end of this story, so it is a little open ended if that bothers you.

My curiosity is now peaked and I want to go back and read the rest of the books in the series.

4Stars

Love this book!!! I really love the Dark Kings series! I love almost all the characters except Con and the Fae queen. Anyway, Firestorm is the King of the Whites' story, Dmitri. Their story is interesting and I loved it! There's no dull moments on this book and that's one of the things I liked about it. I love the romance and the mystery. Ms. Donna nailed it again!

#mustread

Yes sireeee, Donna has nailed another beauty !!!

The Dark Kings are ADDICTIVE !!!. This was Dimitri and Faith's story and it was EVERYTHING I WANTED, EXPECTED AND MORE !!!.

Faith is initially the sort of guardian of an artifact that hold the big secret for the Dragon shifter's. Enter Dimitri who is sent to destroy said artifact. Well, do we think Faith is going to just let that happen......oh no !! I LOVED how Dimitri does a total 360 for Faith and the "destroyer" becomes her and the artifacts protector too !!! Priceless !!!!!

It was just a superb read. Well done Donna for another awesome book in this series.

Many thanks for this opportunity x

Later peeps xx

I am a huge fan of Donna Grant and that I have been loving this series.

Firestorm is book number ten in the Dark Kings series and just like all the previous books I love this book.

Firestorm is very well written and yes just like the other books by Donna Grant I have been hooked from the very beginning that I just couldn't put down at all and good thing I read this book during a long rainy day which I had nothing important to do because I read this one in one day.

I highly recommend this book and I do highly recommend the entire series.

I give Firestorm by Donna grant 5 out of 5.

Another great addition to the Dragon King world revolving around couple Dmitri and Faith but moves the ongoing story along and gives us more insight into central characters such as Con, Ulrik and Rhi. Addictive and sensual reading that keeps reader coming back.

Firestorm (Dark Kings Series Book 10) show this series is continuing to roll along. Dr. Faith Reynold has found a dragon skeleton and Dimitri is sent to rid the world of it. That seems so far from the main over-arching backstory of the coming battle but Donna Grant weaves it all in together. It seems many want these old bones, some for more nefarious reasons than others. On its own, it is a rich story of a surprising romance entwined with mythology and Scottish folklore. For that reason alone, I could highly recommend the book.

As far as the Dark fae and dragon conflict, Firestorm by Donna Grant does not answer many of the questions about what is to come. This main story plot I am ready to see conclude. I will also admit that there was a little disappointment that so little about Rhi is revealed. I am so ready for her story to be fully told.

Faith is an archaeologist on a dig on the isle Dimitri once ruled and she's discovered something that, in the wrong hands, can do a lot of damage. Dimitri and Faith were paired well. However, I found that I really can't pin down an identity for Faith outside of her profession. Also, for Dimitri, it feels like he's not quite sure of how he feels about key issues affecting the story line, independently of whether there are outside influences or not. It's that uncertainty that prevents me from giving the story five stars. It felt that the main characters were shorted when it came to their development.

Plot-wise, I continue to be awed at the skill that Ms. Grant has employed to keep the story lines in the series consistent, progressive, and interesting. I think it a fair assessment that although this can be read as standalone, it loses significant impact when not read in series. This is especially important when the books seem to be including more and more content to move the main plot along.

The ending to this installment left me with questions and doubts, which is a pretty good way to ensure I eagerly pick up the next. This series has a lot going on right now. It seems to be getting closer and closer to the main conflict resolution and the closer we get, the more confused I am about what I think I know. Not sure that makes sense to anyone outside of me, but I can't think of a better way to explain. Looking forward to the next.

Safety: No others. No rape. Yes to abuse.

Firestorm by Donna Grant, book #10 of the Dark Kings series. Five beautifully engraved stars for this book. Dimitri, King of the Whites(dragons) is tasked with the removal of an ancient dragon skeleton from an archeological site discovered by Dr. Faith Reynold. The words of this story are interlaced together to enhance the readers experience of the Dark World. From Dark Kings and Dark Warriors to Reapers and Dark and Light Fae. Action and romance come together with such velocity that it scorches the pages as only a dragon can. There is a whole lot of story tucked into this book. You don't necessarily have to have read previous books in this series because the author does give some background along the way, but it is advantageous. Also, the ending is not exactly a cliff hanger but does set up for future books. How awesome is that? I enjoyed the interaction between characters, especially Dimitri. He gives us insight into his dragon side as well as his passionate and compassionate side. If you're a paranormal romance fan, I highly recommend this book (even if you only want it for the cover). An ARC was graciously provided by netgalley for my honest review. I also recommend the Sons of Texas Series by this author if paranormal isn't your thing.

FIRESTORM is the tenth full length installment in Donna Grant’s contemporary, adult DARK KINGS paranormal romance series focusing on the Dragon Kings and the women they love. This is White Dragon King Dimitri, and archeologist Dr. Faith Reynolds’s story line. FIRESTORM can be read as a stand alone but for cohesion and backstory I recommend reading the series in order. There is a war approaching between the dragons, the fae and humankind, and the buildup has been ongoing for several installments.

SOME BACKGROUND: The DARK KINGS is a spinoff from Donna Grant’s DARK WARRIOR series which in turn is a spin off from Donna’s DARK SWORD series- all set in the Highlands of Scotland. The Dark Fae and their King Taraeth, along with the Ulrik the Silver Dragon King and his uncle Mikkel have declared war on the Dragon Kings by exposing the dragon’s existence to humankind. The last wars between man and the world of the paranormal saw a great loss of life on all sides-but Ulrik wants revenge against King Constantine of the Dragon Kings; Mikkel wants to become King of the Silvers, and the Dark Fae want the Dragon’s hidden weapon and to rule Scotland and the rest of the world. FIRESTORM overlaps with Donna’s new spin off series THE REAPERS who may be a potential ally with the Dragons Kings in their war with the Dark Fae.

Told from several third person perspectives FIRESTORM follows Dr. Faith Reynolds as she embarks on an excavation on Fair Isle that uncovers the skeletal remains of a once mighty dragon. Order to Fair Isle where his white dragons once called home, Dimitri the King of the White Dragons becomes protector of both Faith Reynolds and the skeleton of a dragon he once called family and friend. What ensues is a short battle with the Dark Fae, the return of the white dragon skeleton to Dreagan Mountain, and the building but forbidden relationship between a human and the King of the White Dragons.

Once again, FIRESTORM, like most of the previous story lines continues to follow the approach to war between Ulrik the Silver, the Dark Fae, and another potential enemy not yet known to the dragons. Ulrik’s battle for control comes under fire from the continuing inference of his uncle Mikkel; Rhi’s struggle with her relationship with Con is heightened by the revelation of Con’s affair the Queen of the Light Fae; and a new but potentially familiar foe has entered the fray in an attempt to destroy the Dragon Kings. The Reapers, along with the Druids and Warriors will become enmeshed in a war for power and control with the intent to take down the world’s most powerful beast.

FIRESTORM continues to build upon the previous story lines. Another Dragon King finds his mate amid the human population- something King Constantine is reluctant to accept. Con’s struggle with the dragon’s mates becomes all too readily apparent when magic takes center stage on the mountains of Dreagan. The premise is dramatic and heartbreaking; the characters are colorful and engaging; the romance is spirited and seductive.

This one is about Dmitri and archaeologist Dr. Faith Reynolds who is friends from one of the characters from the Dark Warrior's series. First off, there is a lot of back story in this book. A lot of it heartbreaking. Faith is pulled towards a cave and in the midst of digging finds a dragon skeleton. Which should have been an impossibility since they should have all been sent through to another realm. It was heartbreaking to read about Dmitri's feelings about his family and the guilt he feels for missing this dragon. Further in there are some twists and turns that make you think they aren't going to get their HEA. I love the relationship between not only the main characters but some of the side characters as well. They were very sweet together. And the way Faith is with her assistant? I loved it!! This one actually made me like Con a bit rather than thinking he is an arrogant ass. It showed he has a heart much as we don't always think he does. It also brings me closer to hoping that Ulrik gets a HEA along with Rhi! I am always hopeful that somehow, someway they will both get past what happened in the past and be able to be blissfully happy. Especially Rhi!! The only reason I gave this book 4 stars instead of 5 is due to the abrupt ending. It felt like they were just getting to the bottom of things and then it just ended. Almost as if there should be another part to it that I somehow missed.

All in all, a great book and it definitely added to the story that this author is working towards with these books. I can't wait for the next one in this series!

Firstly, I would recommend if you haven't read the previous stories before this one, that you do that before reading this story. I am not usually a big fan of paranormal stories but this was really good.

This is Book 10 in the "Dark Kings" Series and I really enjoyed it. In order to fully enjoy this book, I would recommend read the previous books in this series because characters from previous books are part of this story.
This series is getting better and better. Dimitri has been in charge of protecting the Dragon Kings for centuries now as King of the Whites. One day he meets Faith. She is an archaeologist who has found the skeleton of a dragon on the island where he was born. Dimitri feels an intense attraction for her but he will fight against it because he doesn't allow the mating between dragons and humans.
The chemistry is great, the book is full of action and suspense. Very enjoyable

I am a complete newcomer to this author and her works, so I had a bit of a unique approach to this book. However, that was completely marred by the fact that while this was supposed to be a stand alone book, the author had a distinct lack of world-building and boring prose.

The biggest thing I felt was total confusion. I didn't understand the prologue events, and not much more was made clear as the book went on. The war was likewise not explained well, and thus I got very bored with the entire thing. That left the romance to carry the plot, but the thing was, I felt it couldn't do it.

While I got that Dmitri was there to protect Faith, I didn't believe that she truly needed protection, except from herself. She became too absorbed in her work, and it seemed more like a case of Insta-lust, than actually something that a good relationship would be built on. The romance plot also felt a bit rushed to me.

I've got another opportunity to see if this author is for me, but I doubt I would continue this particular series.

Firestorm is my 1st read in the Dark Kings series, so you really can read it as a stand alone. While I was a bit out of the loop on what some of the finer details were, I was able to enjoy the story without a problem!

Dimitri is a lonely shifter left on Earth without his family for hundreds of years. He is now running a business with other kings and is sent to Fair Isle when an archeologist discovers a dragon skeleton. Faith is ecstatic about her discover. Her mother loved dragon lore and collected all kinds of dragon knickknacks. Dimitri can't let Faith's discovery become public though; it would put his entire race at risk.

Firestorm has a LOT going on. You are getting some of the dragon/fae politics, a fated mates story, and more. While it is a stand alone, I found that checking out Donna Grants webpage helped me keep all the characters straight. With so much going on and the story jumping from person to person, the book feels like it moves quickly. The story really sucks you in and takes you to a different world. Scotland, Paris, and various other locales are all vivid in my mind as Grant tells the story.

Dimitri is a bit of a gruff guy. He doesn't want to have a human mate, but he can't deny the feelings Faith brings in him. Faith is very likable. She is devoted to her work but not for fame or notoriety; she truly feels passion about her finds and connects with the animals she uncovers.

If you want to find out if Dimitri can convince Faith not to spill the beans to the world about dragons, or if the dark Fae will cause some serious problems, or if Dimitri and Faith will admit their feelings and accept love, you will have to read the book. Spoilers, darling.
