Cuban history is very important, especially tangentially to US history and culture if that's what you've been raised in, like I have been. Having been to Cuba briefly and learning just a tad about Cuban culture, I have been eager to learn more ever since in any way shape or form. That being said, this book was very dense and not a light read. It spans a variety of topics from LGBT rights in Cuba to how Cuban teachers and doctors have had a worldwide influence. I am excited to see what the future has to hold for Cuba, and I'm grateful for the spread of information surrounding Cuba, particularly since it's had such a complicated relationship with many countries and particularly the US.
