I've been invested in this series of brothers who own and run a down-on-it's-luck fishing island, The Buoys, since the beginning. I really enjoyed the final brother's story. Ronan has been broody, prickly and carrying a big chip on his shoulder for so long that he doesn't know any other way to live. I anticipated this Ronan's story.
The Buoys continued to hedge towards success in this book with a second series of Hooked being filmed and here entered Hope, the new producer. Hope was a talented but tentative woman, wary of Ronan and both overwhelmed by his looks and his bad behaviour. Yet, there was tension there. This was a show burn and it was written so well; these two connecting was like a triumph.
I was edging towards a 3.5 star rating and then a twist occurred that I wasn't expecting and I got a grand culmination to the series that I didn't know I needed. It was a super satisfying end.

This is the third book in the series and I loved it as much as I did the others. I have to say I really liked Ronan. He can place a well used f-bomb, but you can sense how important his family is to him. Plus added bonus he can cook! Being the oldest he has felt like he has the most responsibility then Hope comes into his life. Ronan doesn't know what hit him. He likes to stay on the edges and in the background, but having their lodge filmed makes that difficult. I enjoyed watching Hope bring Ronan out of his shell. The interaction between the two of them is one of my favorite parts of the book. There is a part in this book that is very emotional for the O'Donnell boys. It brings on the tears, but it also happy in a way.

Catch and Release book three of the Fishing for Trouble Series is just like the first two in the series; a delightful and fun read. Laura Drewry has given us another, alas the last single, brother who is again a fixer-up type of guy, Ronan. The O’Donnell fishing lodge has been a wonderful place to visit with entertaining if eccentric people. Ms. Drewry has conveyed a true sense of place and community within the Fishing for Trouble Series. Who knew fishing could be so much fun? Certainly not me but I would go there in a heartbeat.
No less than the other stories, Catch and Release has memorable characters who deserve to be appreciated. Ronan the commitment phobia male and talented Hope with the Mary Poppins never ending pocket book that always has what is needed in it. I simply adore these endearing characters, rooting for them all the way.
I couldn’t wait to see how Ronan and Hope’s HEA finally worked out but at the same time I was sad to finish this final book of the bothers end. This series is the first books I have read by aura Drewry but now this author is on my always buy list. I can highly recommend Catch and Release as well as the other two in the series to all fans of contemporary upbeat romance.
I know I can count on Laura Drewry for fun, heartwarming enjoyment with perfect blend of quirky characters, clever banter and a plot the caught me from the start.
Ronan O’Donnell might be happy for his younger brothers and their newfound happiness, as the oldest though, it’s his responsibility to watch out for their best interests, which includes keeping a sharp eye on the new filming crew for their reality TV show headed by Hope Seaver. He’s been harshly hurt by women in past and he won’t let it happen again no matter how sweet and kind she might seem, and sometimes it’s too hard to let go of the past. Can he risk his heart one more time?
Fighting to land a job on Hooked, a fishing reality show featuring three delectable brothers in beautiful British Columbia, Hope is determined to produce the best program showcasing not only the attractive scenery but the family dynamic between the O’Donnell clan. Something she knows will be an especially tough challenge when it comes to the adamant yet magnetic oldest brother. Can she convince him that she’s not out to exploit him or his family without tripping all over herself whenever his within range?
Having read the previous two books, I have been enjoying the buildup to Ronan’s story and was eagerly anticipating his journey towards happiness however bumpy that may be, because the man is brooding and temperamental but Drewry created his perfect complement. An honest and smart woman, sweet and charming, who in turn had also gone through her own personal tragedy.
In giving respect, space and understanding, Hope starts chiseling away Ronan’s defenses. Drawn to him before she met him, she hammers her way to his heart in a constant smile inducing manner with her ever present Mary Poppins/Hermione like bag full of everything you could ever need to her weird trivia facts spillage whenever she got flustered by him.
Their romance is an engaging slow burn with a heart wrenching twist near the end that had more to do with Ronan’s past but still affected them.
With the O’Donnell’s tight knit clan we don’t just get very likeable supporting characters that help the story move along with entertaining interactions we also get to catchup with dear friends from past books.
Catch and Release is book #3 in the Fishing for Trouble series by Laura Drewry. It’s a standalone contemporary romance that drew me in with its charming protagonists and the ever original finishing backdrop. It’s told from both points of view, and has a happy ending.
I am a big fan of this series and I was super excited for Ronan's story! This book dug it's hooks into me from the start. I think it may be my favorite of the series! Ronan is grumpy and he doesn't want cameras following him around. Hope is the producer of the reality show. I loved that they started off with a friendship first. I would definitely recommend this book!
I voluntarily reviewed this book provided to me by NetGalley and the publisher.
Wow! Talk about an emotional roller coaster with this one. Such a great read. I def wasn't expecting this one to go in the direction that it did.
A cute romance between fisherman Ronan and tv show producer Hope. Hope is filming Ronan's fishing family as a reality tv show.
Lots of romance. Not much steam in this one.
I kept waiting and waiting for something to happen between Hope and Ronan. The author def built up the suspense for something to happen but takes awhile to get there.
I enjoyed this one a lot. Made me wish I had read the previous 2 books in the series first. This can def be read as a standalone but I'm sure the other 2 are prob just as enjoyable as this one was.
Thanks to NetGalley for providing me with the ARC.
Catch and Release is the first book I’ve read by Laura Drewry, and I liked it so much that I have already downloaded the first two books in the Fishing for Trouble series. (Catch and Release is the third book in the series. They are all stand-alones.)
Ronan O'Donnell is the eldest of three brothers who run a fishing lodge in remote British Columbia. Their father built the lodge and the boys grew up there, but their childhood was anything but ideal. Their mother left them when they were young never to be seen again, and their father was an alcoholic and abusive. Ronan always took care of his younger brothers and wants to play that role although his brothers are grown up now. He loves his family fiercely and is extremely protective of them; therefore, he is leery to agree to a reality show based on the lodge although the exposure could save them from financial ruin.
He reluctantly agrees to the show, but he is not exactly welcoming when the crew arrives to move in for the summer. What he never expected is for the show to have a beautiful producer - Hope Seaver. He doesn't trust her because she is a part of the show, but he certainly wants her. Hope is intrigued with the grumpy fisherman, and the two find themselves continually drawn to each other.
Ronan and Hope are sweet as they slowly get to know each other. Ronan has a good amount of baggage from his childhood and a failed marriage; therefore, it takes him time before he can open up his heart. I really enjoyed the O’Donnell brothers. They were loving and fun together, and their family dynamic added something really nice to story. Catch and Release is a romantic read that might motivate you to learn to fish… if you can be assured someone like Ronan would be the teacher. - Janet Reads Books

The third and last book in this series is my favourite. I’ve grown madly attached to the O’Donnell family and their little piece of paradise and I’m so sad to see this series end. Ronan’s story is even better than I’d hoped – the gruff and slightly miserable eldest brother meets his match in Hope, the producer of the television series about his family’s fishing resort.
After his mother and later his wife left him, Ronan is terrified of relationships. He can’t trust women and his attraction to Hope leaves him confused and unsettled. Ronan is the quiet brother. Slightly anti-social, he took his responsibilities as the eldest seriously, taking on parenting responsibilities for Finn and Liam when he was far too young. Now that his younger brothers are settled, he is back in his family home, searching for identity and direction.
Hope lost her parents when she was too young. Alone, she tries to be prepared for anything, but she isn’t prepared for the big, brooding Irish-Canadian man she needs to film. It is Hope who pushes Ronan. She challenges his aloof detachment and forces him to feel something. In turn, Ronan offers her a glimpse of family, community, and a place to belong. The relationship between these two is a wonderful slow, awkward burn. The chemistry is perfect but they are both protective of themselves and their hearts.
Running alongside Hope and Ronan’s story is the story of the O’Donnell family’s struggle to revive their family fishing resort. Their efforts are captured on film by Hope and her team. The family desperately needs the publicity, but they are a private family with secrets they want to keep for themselves. More family secrets are revealed in this story and the relationships between the O’Donnells continue to develop. I loved catching up with the two couples from the earlier books and I loved seeing the family dream realised as the resort fills up and the TV show gains viewers. Once again, British Columbia’s beautiful coastal wilderness provides a gorgeous backdrop for the story. I have loved this series and I look forward to more from this author.

This is the third book in the series – I would recommend that you read them in order, as although each one is about another brother, the timeline is continuous. I have to say that I enjoyed this one so much that I read it in one sitting – finishing at 3am! Something I did slightly regret when the alarm went off, but I wasn't prepared to stop reading.
Ronan has been the deep, dark, and mysterious brother. We have learned, in previous installments, that he was the eldest brother and the one who took the brunt of his father's anger. He also took on the mantle of adult when their mother left, and sheltered both Liam and Finn from the harshest beatings. When he did leave, he married the wrong person and spent a long time trying to make it right, before finally divorcing. Now he is back, and whilst he is delighted that his brothers are now happy, he no longer knows how that could apply to him.
Hope is coming to The Buoys to film a new series of popular Fishing TV programme. She does not expect Ronan to press all her buttons, physically and emotionally, and even less that he may feel the same way. We get to watch as the electricity between them forces them to connect. I loved her nervous habit of spouting strange facts, which make Ronan and the reader laugh and dissipate the tension.
We have learned a lot about the men's fishing and tourism business in previous books, but watching it being recorded for the series brings another dimension. Add in a new pet, a hellish TV boss, and an unexpected secret being uncovered, and this is a very engaging read.
I do hope that we get another installment, as there are lots of unanswered questions which I would love to read about soon.
Not having read the previous books in this romantic second chance series, I had no problem falling for each of the O'Donnell brothers. I also admire and respect the women who end up sharing their lives and keep the Buoys running smoothly. Well, as smoothly as any family owned business can run.
This is not just a man/woman love story. This is all about family and life's unexpected turns and turbulence.
Hope has been given more than her share of obstacles and difficulties in life but seems to hang on to a sense of optimism. She works hard for her dreams. When she first experiences an enraged Ronan in a video conference, she is unprepared for the feelings that are generated. Ronan, upon first sight of Hope as she lands on his island, is even less prepared.
The first quarter of the book is that wonderful feeling of anticipation leading up to all the possibilities for what could happen. Don't expect smooth sailing when they finally admit they have mutual attraction. Storm clouds literally move in at what seems the worst possible moment.
If you are a fan of reality tv shows, if you like a series that focuses on a different member of a group in each book, but all are represented in each, if you respect strong women who are not afraid to take chances, then you will appreciate this series. Even more so if you like your ruggedly handsome, gruff, manly men with a sense of humor and a reserved softer side.
4 1/2 Stars! Ronan is the oldest O'Donnell brother and has been the protector of his 2 younger brothers all his life. Protecting them from their mother's depression and the drunken fists of their father. Even though his brothers are all grown up with significant others ... he still wants to protect them. Hope grew up in a loving home, but her parents were killed in a car accident when she was 18 and she has been looking for another "home" ever since. Hope takes on producing the TV show "Hooked" that is being filmed at The Buoys fishing lodge owned by the O'Donnell brothers. The attraction that Ronan and Hope feel for each other is undeniable and they eventually give in to their feelings. But their story is full of twists and turns that will make your heart hurt ... not only for Hope and Ronan, but for all the brothers. A great conclusion to a great series!

Catch and Release is one amazing finale in Laura Drewry's Fishing For Trouble series. As I finished each one I thought I had a favorite, but there's no choosing just one. Every book, each couple, each O'Donnell man, stole my heart for the unique qualities. I am completely endeared to this family and the woman they strive to win over. Drewry creates just such a perfect balance of humor , heartache and heat, a great combination in any contemporary romance read.
The story line picks up at the start of a new season and with the family's decision to sign on for a few episodes of Hooked. Just thinking about Rowan, the eldest of the O'Donnells and love interest and Hooked show producer Hope leaves me with a huge cheesy grin. Once again, we get the story from both perspectives as they battle through Ro's expectations and Hopes considerate and wholly charming nature.
I'll admit, Ro's surly nature created a certain intrigue so I was eager to get to know him, figure out what makes him tick. As the oldest he's acted as protector but I wouldn't say he's the leader as it really does take all three of them to make things work. For all his pragmatism he still lives in denial of his feelings and is just stuck. The gem of this story is Hope. I can't stress enough how adorable she is. She truly carries around some baggage (yep, pun intended). I mean really, what's NOT in her bag? And the sheer amount of odd trivia that she holds in her brain is astounding.
Ro and Hope naturally gravitate toward each other and as Hope starts to break down Ro's walls, his charming side shines through. But Ro is a complicated man and although Hope is tenacious, he can't help himself from going off the deep-end as certain events transpire.
"..there was nothing in her bag of tricks to prepare her for this..."
The plot is driven by the complication of the O'Donnell boys upbringing and I loved the development of this in the story line. Drewry arms the O'Donnell clan with a path working toward absolution and forgiveness.
Drewry's writing is impeccable. The dialogue and the dynamic between the brothers and their significant others is delightful. She's created this little universe where family members don't let each other off too easy, but always have each others back's. The Fishing for Trouble series is one of my favorite and I'm sad the series is over. One of my marks for a great book is whether or not I could find myself reading it again and I can say I will definitely re-read this series. I wholeheartedly recommend spending some literary vacation time at the Buoys getting to know the O'Donnells.
Reading this felt like putting on a warm dressing gown and a comfy pair of slippers. It felt like coming home. The Buoys are such 'real' characters, down-to-earth and so believable. I love a book where the protagonists are normal and could be the person next door (or me!)
Ronan is the grumpy brother but we all know all he needs is a good woman. So will Hope be that good woman - she also is an immensely likeable, generous and warm-hearted woman. I really liked that they hero and heroine were mid 30's, rather than young 20 somethings (and just as a hint to all authors, mid 40's and 50's are good too!). The attraction between Ro and Hope is there all along and it is fun watching the two of them bumble along, stuttering and throwing out random trivia in liu of knowing what to day to each other.
I liked the alternating POV's, which were written in the third person, as this helps me connect with both characters. The writing style is really pleasant, the plot is well thought through and travels at a good pace, the supporting characters are entertaining and the entire book is just a pleasure to read.
Catch and Release by Laura Drewry is the last book in the series Fishing for Trouble. This follows fishing destination. The three brothers who own the place know their fishing season is short and needs to be filled with clients. To help that along, they agree to allow a reality type show to film them for a season. Two of the brothers, Liam and Finn have fallen in love and found their loves, but Ronan doesn’t trust many people. Hope is a TV producer. She is looking forward to this assignment and wants the best. What neither Ronan or Hope expect is to find each other and love.
The Fishing for Trouble series by Laura Drewry was a fun read. The characters are HOT and I love how Laura sets up the scenarios with the main characters. Hope and Ronan are so good together! I have enjoyed the entire series: Off the Hook, Lured In and (the newest one is) Catch and Release. The author writes in an enjoyable style and wonderful characters. Laura Drewry is an author to add to my read list!
I have always loved this series because the fishing part of it reminds me so much of my Dad who I lost last year. The last time I went fishing with him was in 1995. After that life just got in the way and I could not join him on those trips anymore. Hope's first fishing trip reminds me so much of my own first time. The way my Dad showed me how to hold a rod, how to work the reel, the differences between the lures, explained the reel in and let run, gaffing and netting and all the intricate aspects of sea fishing. I think I was maybe 13 at the time. To this day I cannot forget the thrill and excitement of hooking that first fish; a 9 kg barracuda. So I've lived that exact moment that Hope would have had.
The nostalgia of this series; I am going to miss it so much and I am sad to know that this will be the last installment. Thank you, Laura Drewry, for allowing me to relive those childhood fishing trips with my Dad.
Hope Seaver just got the job of her life, as a producer for a reality TV show on a fishing locality called the Buoys. Owned by three brothers, Liam, Finn and Ronan O'Donnell, this a break for them too, their lodge has been suffering from not enough visitors the last few seasons, which is the reason they agreed to do this. Well Ronan did not want any part of this circus that was going to descend on them.
Hope knew this information coming in, so she made sure she would try to smooth things out to get Ronan onboard. He knows that the reason the fishing resort has been suffering is because of him, so he has to do this for them.
As much as he wants to fall for her honesty or beauty, Ronan won't let himself fall for another woman again.
I loved this story about second chances but most of all believing that it could become a reality. This is a wonderful third book in the series.
Guys y'all, I love, love, love this series!!!
I adore absolutely everything about the stories of the O'Donnell brothers, I love how tight they are, how they always back each other up, how they never ever let anyone hurt the other if just possible. I love the humor and snark in the dialog, so sharp and smart, yet never hurtful. I love the island, or peninsula, where they live, their lifestyle as fishing guides and hospitality professionals, the ups and downs of the business, and even in that, and especially in that, they stand tightly together. I love what they have made of themselves despite the circumstances with their lives, the childhood they had. And I love how utterly, completely they fall when the right woman comes along.
The stories have just the perfect amount of sweet and sassy, that made me smile and even laugh out loud more times than I can admit. You know you relate to the story when you have your hand over your mouth to try and keep the character from saying what is coming out of their mouth.
The story had so many swoon worthy moments, I was just sighing and smiling as they fumble with their feelings and try to get it right. And the tale had the heartbreaking moments that I felt that ripped my heart open for them, for Ro and his brothers, the tears were falling and I just wanted to reach out and hug them.
Ronan is the fierce protector of the family, the one who has always taken care of others. He has major trust issues, understandably, but his heart is kind and caring, he is passionate and so sexy when he is cooking and baking, yes, he completely stole my heart.
Hope is all alone in the world and her envy of the O'Donnell brothers closeness is palpable. She has a heart of gold, she works hard to make the tv show the best it can be, she blurbs out the funniest facts out of her mouth when she gets nervous, and she is not afraid to stand up for herself if the need arise.
Together Ronan and Hope were flammable. The attraction between them is obvious to the world to see. It is both adorable and steamy, and in their imperfect ways, they are perfect for each other.
When you have a story in your hands that you inhale every word of it, and then you back up because you want to savor the moments and not to get to the end too soon you know you have a winner. The O'Donnell brothers have completely charmed me over the three stories, Catch and Release is going directly to the 'Best of 2017' file. If you read only few romance novels or books in general, a year, I highly recommend you make this, or the whole series, part of your TBR list! I'm so going to miss the gang of the Buoys.
~ Five Spoons
I really enjoyed Catch and Release. The premise was original and I've never read another contemporary romance like it. Ronan O'Donnell has a great family life despite his rocky childhood with a mother who left and an alcoholic father but something is definitely missing in his life. He refuses to admit that it's the love of a woman and swears by the catch and release system. Hope Seaver, on the other hand, had a wonderful childhood and parents but tragically lost them when she was eighteen. All she wants to do is find a man and a place to call home. Ronan and Hope are thrown together when the O'Donnell family agrees to be filmed at their fishing lodge for a reality show called Hooked on which Hope is the field producer. As much as they try to stay away from each other, Hope and Ronan finally give in to the undeniable chemistry between them. They fall head first for each other but the past threatens to break them apart.
I could completely understand why Ronan never wanted to be in another relationship after the way he was abandoned by his mother and his ex-wife. He's headstrong but you can tell their is a softy inside him, especially when he ends up keeping JD. It took a while for me to like Hope. She was pretty annoying at first and her random bursts of facts made me so uncomfortable. I actually started to dislike her when she confronted Ronan about the obvious connection between them. Once I got passed that I started to like her a lot and it was her constant honesty that really hooked Ronan. I think the final guest on the reality show could have been done a little more creatively. As soon as the name was given, I knew what was going to happen to throw a wrench in Ronan and Hope's relationship. Other than that I enjoyed this story. I loved the tension between the main characters and the fact that they didn't jump into bed together right away. They developed genuine feelings for each other before taking the plunge which was done very tastefully. I liked that questions were answered and the entire O'Donnell family got their happily ever after.
*My review is live on Goodreads and I will post my review on Amazon the day the book is published.
Whoa! I can't even begin to tell you what I loved about this book! First of all, the O'Donnell boys are freaking incredible, and Ronan is the top of that list. I've read every book in this series, and I've got to tell you, this is my favorite, and that's saying a whole lot because I've loved every book. Ronan is the oldest of the three O'Donnell boys, which made him the caretaker when Maggie up and left the family when they were younger. A lot happened in the younger lives of these boys, which carved out how their adult lives played out, but Ronan was probably affected more than the three as a whole. But when Hope Seaver gets off that plane to film the Hooked series, it was magical. When you laugh at the first page in the book, you know you are in for quite a ride. There isn't anything I didn't absolutely love about this book, but I gotta tell you, when Hope and Ronan finally get together, Lordy, get your fans out cuz you're gonna need them. It's nothing short of steamy, hot, jump off the page at you greatness. Hope is hysterical, and you just want to take Ronan in your arms and protect the hurt little boy that makes up this very complicated man. The ending was a WTF moment, made the whole book come together. You have got to read this book, especially if you've read the first two books. And if you haven't read the first two books, get them right away, you won't be sorry. Incredible series, love the way this author writes, and this definitely won't be the last book I read of hers. Would love a follow up of what happens with all three of the brothers, especially after what transpires at the end of this book. Did I mention how much I loved this book!!!!
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC copy of this book.
