This was a Friends-to-lovers book, I liked Daniel a little more than Amy. Amy was a harder sell to me. Kinda brought the story down a little :(
If you've read my reviews before, then you know that I've got so much love for Jess Dee's writing talents. She's just one of those authors I know I can pick up their book and love every moment of the journey. She has never disappointed me, and this re-release of her book previously titled Photo Opportunity is no exception. It was emotional and sexy and just everything I love to read, so I can't recommend it enough.
So let's talk about Planned Seduction... Daniel Tanner has been in love with Amy forever but he's decided that now is the time to finally final on those feelings after some deep self-reflection. All Amy has seen is a parade of women going through his life and she isn't interested in being one of his many conquests despite his attempts to convince her otherwise. Little does she know, he is determined to prove her that he can be the only man that she needs.
For as emotional as this story was at times, it was seriously sexy too. The sexual tension between these two is intense, but I think it had just the perfect mix and I simply adored these characters. Daniel had a vulnerability to him that I found vastly appealing, and poor Amy...well she tried to resist him in earnest, but his charm was just too much in the end for her and I could totally see why. Overall, I think this is a great read and who doesn't just love a great friends to lovers book?
A very enjoyable book The main characters were well written and I loved the steamy parts but it was missing something and needed a bit more to it. but none the less it was a good read.
The writing and story were well done in this book but I just wans't really feeling the characters connection and didn't feel like the story had a unique or original take on the friends to lovers story I've read so many times before. This was a sweet story it just lacked originality.
Planned Seduction is a new Entangled Brazen book by Jess Dee
Planned Seduction is a friends to lovers story, which isn't a troupe I am particularly fond of - I usually find them a bit too tame and angst-y and not enough steam for me
Luckily Planned Seduction has plenty of heat. Amy and Daniel have been best friends for years and – unbeknownst to Amy – Daniel has been in love with her all that time and has finally realised that Amy is the woman for him and is planning to show her.
I enjoyed this story it worked because the two main characters know each other so well and their friendship is genuine and gives their romance a solid base so when things get hot, they get really super steamy and I loved watching Daniel and Amy’s relationship change and for them to get their HEA.
So overall a good contemporary friends to lovers story from Jess Dee and I can't wait to see more from this author
ARC received in exchange for an honest review
This was a cute friends story with enjoyable characters. Amusing issues arise when Daniel decides he's no longer waiting for Amy to notice him, he's taking it into his own hands and going to show her they can be perfect together. Over all enjoyable read
Fantastic friends to lovers story with some hot sexy times! Loved it!
*This book is a re-release of Ms. Dee’s previously titled Photo Opportunity it was been re-edited.
Having read this book years ago and recently re-reading it for this review, I once again enjoyed it immensely. Friends to lovers is a favorite romance troupe of mine so Planned Seduction was right up my alley, I loved that the hero was head over heels and had to convince the heroine that he was serious about being in a relationship with her. The sexual tension was heavy in this story which only added to the intriguing story line.
Friends for seventeen years and best friends for most of that time Daniel Tanner has finally figured out that Amy Morgan is the woman he wants in his life as his friend, lover, and wife. Daniel knows he has an uphill battle on his hands because Amy doesn’t trust men; between her father and her ex-boyfriend she is prepared to be alone.
First off I want to say holy hell of an opening sex infused dream! Seriously the first chapter alone was scorching hot even if it was a dream sequence. Once this couple got together physically it showed that despite they were far apart on what they were to one another, their lifelong friendship and unmistakable chemistry left no doubt they were equally matched and satisfied physically.
After working on a particularly grueling photo essay assignment, Daniel has had time to come to terms with events from his past that skewered his thinking and understand what he wants from life and he makes a plan to go after Amy. I very much enjoyed Daniel’s pursuit of Amy and loved that despite the fact never expected to settle down that once her realized Amy was the woman for him he went for it completely and totally. I’ll admit I grew weary of Amy’s reasoning for not being with Daniel. She trusted Daniel enough to be her best friend and confidant for years, but refused to believe that he wanted her in his life as his lover and more. For someone as educated as she was and someone who had the job of counseling others she needed a prescription for “physician heal thyself.” I would have loved to see Amy really take stock of her life, accept that she had some issues and grow a bit more, I felt that even though she figured out she loved Daniel she still didn’t completely trust him which was sad.
Despite the problems I had with this book, there were moments of fun, moments of reflection, moments of joy, moments of seriousness, and many, many moments of sexiness making Planned Seduction an entertaining romance.
This was one mighty hot and sexy read. Daniel was utter perfection. I loved all the things he did to get Amy to fall for him. He played the game so very nicely. Definitely need a fan for several parts of this book. Amy, I loved her and was frustrated with her. I understood her situation, but not how she could resist Daniel's intentions. But it did end on a very sexy note, so I can't complain.
I received this book in exchange for an honest review from the publisher through Netgalley.
his is the first time I have read Jess Dee and i enjoyed it! i always love the friends to lovers troupe so when I read the plot I was sure I will love this story!
Daniel Tanner and Amy Morgan have been friends for seventeen years. But then Daniel realizes he is head over heels in love with Amy and that he wants not only to be friends but also a couple.
The problem is that Amy doesn't trust men after being hurt first by her father and later by her ex boyfriend.
Amy will have a hard time dealing with her feelings and sometimes she will sound a little stubborn but apart from that , the chemistry between them is amazing and the book is funny and entertaining.
I voluntarily reviewed a copy provided by the publisher via NetGalley
A great story from a new-to-me author. I was a little irked with Amy's constant belief that Daniel would cheat or leave her, but I see why too. Past experiences can really mess you up. Sexy times and best friends to lovers storyline written well. I'll read more by Jess Dee.
another lovely story by Jess Dee. I have to say I am never disappointed in a story that is written by this author and this was great from start to finish.
Amy who was a therapist and Daniel had been best friends for the last seventeen years
Amy and Daniel were careful to keep their relationship at friendship because they didn’t
want to chance losing their friendship.Daniel and Amy made it through their teens without making out once and that was something. Then Daniel gets a photography shoot at Children’s hospital and it shows Daniel life can be short and you should go for what you want and Daniel wants Amy as he has been secretly in love with her for a long time. But Daniel never could find the right time to tell Amy how he really felt. Amy believes men always leave her and will never stay, Amy was afraid of being hurt like in her past that started way back with her daddy issues. Then her last live in boyfriend cheated on her. But also Daniel had a lot of woman in and out of his life and Amy had seen all of them. Daniel would do almost anything for Amy. But even though they had been best friends for so long Amy didn’t trust Daniel with her heart.
I liked this story but did find some things irritating about it like when Amy has been with Daniel then pushes him away because she is afraid she will lose him. Why didn’t Amy go to a therapist for herself ? But otherwise I did enjoy the story. I also thought the plot was good. I liked Daniel’s character a lot no matter what he doesn’t give up on Amy. I also love how he didn’t just blurt out his feelings or didn’t pull away from Amy. He also tried to ease Amy into more than just friendship. I liked the characters and the ins and outs and I recommend this story.
This is a great blend of sweet and sexy all wrapped up in one book. The love story of two best friends.
" You think if I kissed you right now, it would be any different? Any less explosive? You think nothing else would happen?"
Daniel is in love with his best friend and she has no idea. So he plans a seduction to get her to realize that they belong together. It doesn't take much to get Amy to realize she wants Daniel just as much.
This is such a quick and easy read. You will fall in love with Daniel and Amy in the first couple of chapters and next thin you know the book has ended.
This is a good friend to lover’s romance. I loved the chemistry between Amy and Daniel, the sex was steamy. The story was okay for me, Amy had a lot of baggage and it was hard for her to trust Daniel. Can he convince her otherwise? Overall it is an entertaining read. I liked it.
Cute best friends to lovers story. I'll definitely recommend this to my customers who prefer the sex to story ratio a bit higher.
Planned Seduction is a fun, surprisingly emotional contemporary romance. Daniel Tanner and Amy Morgan have been friends for ages. Content to be best friends, Amy has never wanted to explore a romantic relationship with Danny. She would rather have him in her life as a dependable friend, than be hurt like she has in the past. Danny has been content to let his life roll along,Planned Seduction is a fun, surprisingly emotional contemporary romance. always shallowly interacting with women. He only is really close to Amy and his sister. After an assignment, photographer Danny realizes that he loves Amy, that life is short and you need to grab hold of the one you love and never let go. He subtly guides Amy to see him in a sexy light and suddenly she cannot see him as just her friend any longer.
I was quite taken with Planned Seduction, I have to give it 4 stars. What a wonderful way to relax for an afternoon. Sweet and sexy; I'm a sucker for friends-to-lovers stories. This was my first story by Jess Dee and I will be on the look out for the sequel, Chance Seduction which is coming soon.
Amy and Daniel have been best friends for seventeen years and – unbeknownst to Amy – Daniel has been in love with her all that time. To Amy, Daniel is the most important person in her life, the only one she can rely on, and she will not allow her unwanted attraction to him ruin their friendship. She’s had her heart broken more than once and Daniel isn’t the type to commit, so she shuts down any hint of desire for him. However, Daniel has finally reached his limit. He can never commit to any woman because the only woman he’s ever truly loved is Amy. If he has to resort to a little trickery to seduce her into his bed and win her heart, then that’s fine by him. So long as he finally has his chance to prove to Amy that he’s the man for her.
I always enjoy a good friends-to-lovers romance, and Jess Dee’s Planned Seduction is a steamy one. I was charmed by Daniel from early on. He’s confident, charming, and sexy-as-sin, but what really got me is his big, slightly vulnerable heart, and how head-over-heels he is for Amy. The two of them have been best friends for nearly two decades, have been there for each other through thick and thin, and it’s clear they’re perfect for each other. I’m generally indifferent to games or planned seduction, but in this story it worked because Daniel and Amy knew each other so well and he would cut off his arm before he ever hurt her. Their friendship comes through and gives their romance a solid base so that the eroticism of the story can take over without the heart of the romance being sacrificed. When things get hot, they get really hot and I loved watching Daniel and Amy’s relationship change and reach its full potential.
Planned Seduction wouldn’t be much of a story if there were no obstacles, and in this case the hitches on the road to happily ever after all come from Amy. I understood that she’d been badly burned, and Ms. Dee made it clear why Amy feared changing her relationship with Daniel. However, Amy also triggered one of my biggest pet peeves: she’s a character who decides how other people feel for them. She insists Daniel doesn’t know his own feelings and tells him what he feels for her. The fact that Amy is a counselor who should know better than do to that only detracted from the story further, and I lost a bit of patience with the unnecessary drama. Fortunately for both the characters and plot, the majority of the story is fun, erotic, and Daniel and Amy have excellent chemistry. When things go right in Planned Seduction, the story is truly entertaining. So while it had some ups and downs, I liked Amy and Daniel’s book enough that I’ll definitely be reading Ms. Dee’s next Seduction book.
What’s it About? Daniel Tanner has come up with an elaborate plan to make his best friend Amy Morgan see him as more than just a friend. He’s been in love with her since they were teenagers but Amy has seen how many women have come in and out of Daniel’s life and she’s not willing to risk their friendship for what she assumes would just be another fling but Daniel’s determined to show her even if it means tricking her into a few kisses and a little more.
Describe the hero in five words: Calculating. Determined. Funny. Smart. Loyal.
Did you like him? Yes.
Why? Daniel was head over heels in love with Amy. Always has been and that definitely gave the story a different feel. He didn’t have to become her lover in order to have that “moment of clarity” where he realizes he’s fallen for her. I loved the way he described his feelings for Amy and how determined he was to overcome her fears. Even though they don’t get a lot of page time, it was clear by the few scenes they had that Daniel had a great relationship with his sisters. It was equal parts love and ruthless teasing.
Describe the heroine in five words: Indecisive. Frightened. Smart. Stubborn. Determined.
Did you like her? Not really.
Why? Amy wasn’t my cup of tea because of her over the top indecisiveness when it came to Daniel. She wasn’t a very good friend to begin with and didn’t seem to consider his feelings or his side of things. It was all about her. Her fears. Her insecurities. She had her reasons to be afraid of losing Daniel’s friendship and I understood that but there was next to zero growth in Amy from beginning to end. She never changed her attitude or her outlook on her relationship with Daniel. Amy was in desperate need of growth. Had she developed more as a character I bet she would have been great and the relationship between her and Daniel would have been more believable.
How convincing were the main characters as a couple? Daniel and Amy were more convincing as friends than as lovers but even the friendship didn’t fully convince me. Daniel was all in as a friend and as a lover even though I wasn’t always on board with his methods. To me Amy was the big reason that I didn’t feel the connection between them one hundred percent of the time. I didn’t get why she was Daniel’s best friend or why he was so in love with her since she spent most of the story being afraid of Daniel’s feelings for her and of losing his friendship. I never got to see these two just being together without all the worry from Amy. I wasn’t thrilled with the way she treated Daniel either so that had a lot to do with not feeling the connection between them.
Is there a “Scooby Gang” worth mentioning? Daniel has two sisters, Sarah and Lexi who have distinct personalities. I liked Lexi a lot. She was the blunt but funny. Sarah on the other hand didn’t get a lot of page time so she was still a bit of a mystery. Then there was Amy’s co-worker Maggie who was more fun than Amy but she also gave Amy a verbal shake when she needed it. I liked all three women.
How “Lost” did you get in the story? Planned Seduction had its moments of being cute and funny but there was a lack of believability in Daniel and Amy’s relationship that didn’t allow me to get lost in the story. For me I think it was the fact that Daniel had this big plan to make Amy fall for him and most of the attention was spent on the workings of that plan rather than the growth of their relationship and the changes they were both going through. I found it difficult to believe in such a planned out romance. There wasn’t much that Daniel wasn’t prepared for and everything felt a little mechanical. The ending was also a big “huh” for me because it wrapped up really quickly without any real conclusion for Daniel and Amy’s romance.
Click It or Skip It? Planned Seduction wasn’t a total loss but it wasn’t a big win either. Jess Dee is obviously a talented writer and I would definitely pick up another book by her in the future.
