Shelby, aka pop-star Tara Gibson now twenty-eight years old, has been performing and touring since she was sixteen years old. Unhappy with her life and brokenhearted from her father's recent death she goes to Whisper Creek Ranch in hopes of figuring out her life. Upon her arrival at the ranch Shelby meets Cooper, who used to be a detective but who had to give up his badge because of false allegations. Cooper's job right now is to keep an out for the secret VIP Shelby who didn't bring any bodyguards with her. Although Cooper and the rest of Whisper Creek Ranch don't know who Shelby is, they form close bonds with her while she stays there, but Cooper's past comes back to haunt him and puts his relationship with Shelby in trouble.
This was a great read. I have read the other books in this series and this one certainly did not disappoint. I love the camaraderie that everyone has at the ranch. They are so welcoming to outsiders. This was a great book and I look forward to reading even more by this author.
Oh my, if only Cooper was real!! The storytelling is flawless and compelling and utterly page turning. Great read and the story line is very well written. If only I could give 10 stars, this is the kind of book I LOVE to read, sweet romance that has hiccups along the way. Perfect in every sense. Love love love this book!!
Whisper Creek in Montana is a tourist ranch that has something in the water that seems to breed couples. Shelby Quinn, aka., pop star Tara Gibson, is the daughter of a famous Western singer. Her beloved father recently died in a plane crash and she is devastated. She has been handled since a young teen by her record label and now at the age of 28 is past her prime. She is sent to Whisper Creek to relax and mourn. There she meets Cooper Davis, a policeman from Boston, who while investigating corruption on the force, has been falsely accused of the crimes. He also escaped to Whisper Creek to get out of the lime light. Cooper slowly gets Shelby to reconnect with herself and they "drink the water". While performing together at the local coffee shop, someone records them and then the SHTF.
I was lucky to be offered an ARC and read a review. This is a very charming series about people with problems, who are helped by the friendship of really nice people.
Very good book. Love, friendships, passion and family all mixed up. Difficult to stop reading, it's so passionate.
Meant to Be starts off on such a sad note. Shelby is attending the funeral of her father, a country singer legend who died in a horrific plane crash. She is beyond devastated but is not allowed to show it. When she complains about it, her handler (aka her PA) basically tells her to suck it up for another hour. Which she does and then, in the privacy of her father’s house, she decides to break dishes. Unfortunately, her PA witnesses it, reports it to Shelby’s record label and they make the decision to ship her off to a dude ranch for some rest and relaxation.
I did a hold up, wait a minute after those chapters. This poor girl loses her father in a horrific plane crash, is told that she can’t grieve in public AND when she has a totally normal reaction, she is told that she needs rest and relaxation before going off on a tour (oh yeah, forget to mention that Shelby has an alter ego called Tara Gibson who is a pop star) that is supposed to bolster her career. I kinda wanted to smack the PA upside the head and say “Why???”. But its a book so the best I could do was shake my head, say to myself “idiot” and read on.
The ranch was probably the best place for her, looking back. She was able to come to terms with her father’s death and find herself. Of course, she meets the best looking cowboy on the ranch. Cooper.
Cooper has his own issues and I got a little frustrated at how long it took for the author to show exactly why he left Boston and why he only talks to his younger sister. All we knew, for a little while, was that he was an ex-cop who left Boston and the police force because of an investigation turned bad. Exactly what the investigation was about, who was involved in the investigation and where the investigation led was revealed, slowly, throughout the book. To be honest, I would have loved to know everything up front and then have things happen from then on.
I had to laugh at so many people seeing through Shelby’s disguises and how many people she told the truth to….after being told keep it on the down low. I mean, the people that she told did keep her secret but still. It wasn’t the point, she wasn’t supposed to let anyone know who she was. And that failed….in a big way.
Cooper and Shelby’s romance was sweet and slow. I loved that while they had sex, the author didn’t feel the need to spell it out and just left it as they went to bed. I got to use my imagination, gasp, during those scenes and I loved it!!!
Both storylines were wrapped up in a very satisfactory way, even if Cooper’s did give me some concern before it ended. I also liked how a certain person was forced to apologize for his behavior to him.
The end of the book was pretty good too and everyone got what they wanted. It was a HEA :). I do want to know what happened to the pig, though…..lol. What pig? Read the book!!!
How many stars will I give Meant to Be: 4
Why: I really enjoyed reading this book, even though it started off on a sad note. The Cooper’s plotline alone was enough to keep me reading but throw in Shelby trying to rediscover herself and I couldn’t put it down. Add that the romance was a slow burn and it made for a pretty good read.
Will I reread: Yes
Will I recommend to family and friends: Yes
Age range: Adult
Why: Sex, language

Loving this series! I want to take a trip to Whisper Creek and drink some of that water! Shelby and Cooper were perfect for each other. Great book, fun characters and a sweet story.
I don't usually like stories where the main character is a celebrity, but this book is an exception. I enjoyed the romance and learning about the backgrounds of the characters. It was an easy read, which means I couldn't put it down!
This was a fun, romantic western romance. I loved the characters and the storyline.
Another great Whisper Creek novel. Could have used more of the cowboys though.
Shelby is so broken hearted, it seems like no one cares. They just want to hide her away so she doesn't have a melt down in public. Cooper is having some problems in his life too, and has chosen Whisper Creek to help him get his head back on straight. Together they seem to be helping each other work through things. And fall a little in love while they were at it.
Cute & sweet love story! Thank you for giving me the opportunity to read and review!
Another wonderful book by a great author. Haven't read a bad one by her yet, and this one is no exception. Shelby is sent to Montana after the loss of her father. The recording company she works for wants her to get her self together so she can go back to her pop teen queen singing self. She meets yummy Cooper at the ranch, as he is an ex-cop who is assigned to watch out for her. Sparks fly and both of them learn to heal and love again. Very sweet story, and although you know there will be a HEA the pathway there was well worth reading. Highly recommend this book and author, and if you haven't read others in this series that is fine, but I strongly suggest you give them a try as well.
Maggie McGinnis did not disappoint. Eache time I read one of her books I think she will not be able.to to pm that one....and then she does. When I read the old star needs a break story line I was expecting the same old story. She made it fresh. Tara loses her dad and she just needed time away. Cooper Davis has troubles ofor his own. A wrongly accused cop hiding out at Whisper Creek. There is a spark but can it really work? Read it for yourself and you will find out.
Meant to Be by Maggie McGinnis is a sweet, hot, and charming read. I couldn't stop reading it. Meant to Be is about a woman and man finding themselves, getting past their troubles, and maybe finding love too. Both characters were the kind that immediately pulled me into their story. Each had something under their belts that needed to be told. Needed to be heard. They needed one another. But when their time together ends, it is up to the, to decide where their futures lie.
Meant to Be is a contemporary romance that pulls at the hearts. A young and single woman has her career crashing around her. Her father was on his way to see her when his plane burned up...after that she lost it. Soon, she finds herself at a stud ranch. This where is the two irresistible characters meet. Maggie McGinnis knew exactly what she was doing...setting up readers to fall head over heels in love. Romantic, enticing, and highly engaging to read. Easy to follow along. I was sucked up into the tale from the beginning to end. Every page was more interesting than the previous. Loved it. Hot sexy men, emotional roller coasters, and the beauty of being oneself...all tied beautifully in this book. Overall, I recommend this romance to readers worldwide.
Sweet romance between a young singer mourning the death of her father and an honest cop wrongly accused of wrong doing. Set in Montana at the Whisper Creek Ranch for most of the story, the couple finds comfort and love with each other, but each believes the other deserves better.
With plenty of interference on the part of family and friends, they realize that together...they can soar.
Heartwarming tale set in a location we would all love to live in. I was lucky enough to be chosen to receive an ARC from Netgalley.
You can't help but fall in love with this book. Meant to Be is everything a romance is supposed to be. It has a believability and sweetness about it that pulls at your heart from start to finish. You become completely invested in the characters and their journey to find one another and work through their problems. They are people you feel like you could be friends with. McGinnis is a gifted story teller and I'm going to snap up everything else she has written.
Enjoyed how these two characters helped each other overcome their past to create something together.
Fun sweet read.
Meant to Be is another great addition to the Whisper Creek series. Cooper Davis was a detective in Boston when a dirty investigation cost him his job, family and the life that he knew. He is now in Montana at Whisper Creek Ranch working, trying to move on. Shelby Quinn, aka Tara Gibson, the famous pop star princess has just lost her father in a plane accident. Shelby hides away at Whisper Creek for a well needed break. Cooper was asked to watch over Whisper Creek's VIP guest. Who would have thought that Cooper and Shelby would have instant chemistry. Will their love be enough to survive what is coming in their future. I absolutely fell in love with this series and all of the characters. Meant to Be is a quick, sweet, enjoyable read.
Meant to Be is a thoroughly enjoyable read. The characters are well-developed and ring true.. The plot unfolds quickly with enough little twists to keep it interesting.
Whisper Creek novels are my favorite. It sounds like a place that everyone needs to visit in their lifetime! Well since we can't do it physically, then through McGinniss books we are there. Loved the latest and can't wait for the next one!
Loved this book (#5) and #4 that I had previously read on netgalley so much that I went back and read books 1-3 to have me completely caught up on this series. Loved it!
