Another take on the whole take a fake partner to a wedding and lines blur theme. Pleasant, light read with some humour.

I was consumed from the first page! This is my first book by Natasha Anders and I can say for sure that it definitely won’t be my last! Great characters & plot that had me flipping the pages for more!

This book was probably the best and most entertaining of all the books by Natasha Anders and I have read them all multiple times. I can't express enough about how amazing this book was.

I really enjoyed it, it's a bit different than her other books. Less angst, more humour which isn't a bad thing because you know because while they are my favourites they also are filled with a lot of heartbreak and hurt so its nicer to have a book thats a bit lighter and different.

Not my favorite storytelling and not my favorite book of this author. Her A husband's regret is one of my all time favorite adult romance. I don't know what happened here. I miss the Unwanted series and its characters so much.

This book is written in the third person and told from alternating viewpoints. It’s not my favorite form of storytelling, but I tried to keep an open mind. The perspectives flip back and forth way too frequently. I actually counted, and in one chapter the point of view changes 14 times. Fourteen times. In one single chapter.

The interactions between the two main characters seem rather silly, with a severe lack of communication that reads more like a young adult novel. I liked the fresh take on the “bring the fake, hot date to a wedding” theme, but the writing style just didn’t work for me. Ultimately, I wound up skimming the second half of the book. However, I would be open to reading other work by this author in the future.

I love love loved this book! Natasha Anders is one of my favorite authors because she writes stories in a way that many people, myself included, can relate to. Her characters are always flawed in a way and the heroes often start out as complete jerks, they somehow change over the course of the storyline and I find myself rooting for them to reach their happily ever after!

Mason and Daisy were a perfect match. I loved how her interactions with Mason helped her to blossom over the course of the book and really come into herself. While I wanted to pull my hair out a couple of times because Mason wasn't doing anything to let Daisy know that his feelings for her had become real, I found I couldn't put the book down and I absolutely loved the ending!

I give this one 4 raving stars!

As much as I wanted to like to this book I had a hard time reading and connecting to the story and characters. I even stopped reading and tried to come back and it still didn't work in my favor.

The Wingman was a good contemporary romance. I really enjoyed the two main characters, Daisy and Mason, and the relationship that developed between them. The book held my interest, and I liked the storyline. I'm looking forward to seeing what this author comes up with next.

The story was good. The characters had good developments, both of them, but I can't say I connected with them.
In my opinion, the chapters were quite long. Other than that, it was a good read.

Totally enjoyed this book from start to finish. A great story of second chances, finding the strength to love yourself & not let others control your thoughts & feelings, & of course falling in love.

I will be reading more by Natasha Anders.

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

Competent romance, but elements of the story would have made me put it down had it not been a Netgalley. I like the surrounding characters to be more fully rounded and didn't think the rescue scene was necessary, and given the settings made me uncomfortable.

This was a very enjoyable read, it was refreshing to have a protagonist who isn't the ugly duckling if the story. She was just slightly bland when compared to her more vivacious sisters. The relationship built at an even pace that was believable and had a typical hea ending The only thing I call bullshit on is the fact that she did not know about her g-spot, I find it incredibly annoying that a guy must come in and introduce a woman to her body and it seems to be a trend in new adult that needs to go.

He couldn’t bring himself to let her go. He didn’t think he would ever have the strength to let her go. He fell asleep resigned to that fact.

This story is - The Ugly Duckling Scores A Prince 😊

Daisy is short, with love handles, a bit of a double chin and curls which can't be controlled.
To her utter surprise Mason Carlisle, ex-soldier, ex-bodyguard, ex-underwear model, chats her up and makes her feel a little bit special at her sister's hen/bachelorette party. She has a rude awakening when she overhears Mason talking to his brother and realizes that he was supposed to distract Daisy so that Spencer can make a move on her oldest sister.

When his brother asked him for a favor, he didn't anticipate to be entertained and a little bit enchanted by the plain McGregor sister. When she blackmails him into accompanying her to her sister's wedding he realizes that it isn't exactly a chore. The more he gets to know the spirited, intelligent Daisy, the more he is attracted to her, and the prettier she becomes to him, belly pooch and unruly curls and all. All of a sudden her 50s bombshell body gives him blue balls 24/7. Sadly, Daisy would never believe him - too often has she been the butt of a joke.

I loved that Daisy didn't have to lose weight to be loved by the hero. It was the fact that Mason learned to see her beauty without her changing her appearance that made this story so poignant.

I liked this kind of book because I am also a little bit chubby 😁👍

Natasha Anders is a go to author when i'm in need of some soul shaking angst. The Wingman was an enjoyable read but lacked the emotional intensity I was searching for at this moment in time. Still, I'd recommend to new and old fans of Natasha. After all, who doesn't love the sight of an alpha weak in the knees for his heroine?

I really enjoyed this one, though it was not what I expected. I am a really big fan of this author, I just didn't love this one as much as I loved all her other books, like the Unwanted series. I just didn't feel like the hero really wanted the heroine. Still...it was a very nice story.

This is the story of Daisy, who is the youngest sister of 3, and is known as 'the other, clever one'. We can all get this as a poorly disguised reference to her not being 'typically' pretty (or thin or straight haired etc).
I thought the premise of this novel was intriguing, but I soon got annoyed with Daisy. She has no self esteem or confidence, and it soon got boring and irritating hearing her refusing or compliments.
She is approached by Mason in a bar, because his brother is trying to hit on her sister, and need Daisy distracted. Mason and Daisy hit it off, but Daisy finds out that he was only chatting to her to keep her busy, and she decides to blackmail Mason into accompanying her to her other sister's wedding.
I liked the relationship between Mason and Daisy, there was plenty of sarcasm and sass, and their interactions were fun to read.
There was a pretty ludicrous and irritating twist towards the end to keep our main couple from being together, and a couple of twists within the story that felt a little to predictable and cliche, but overall this was a laid back and enjoyable read.
Overall, if you're looking for quick and relaxing read, that is pretty feel good, this one will definitely fit the bill.

(Reviewed from an e-arc provided by Netgalley)

3 1/2 stars. Anders's last book seemed to be moving away from the angsty, over-the-top, cruel billionaire stories she's most known for, and this one is firmly in the subgenre of small town contemporary romance, with a slight twist in that the small town is in South Africa. (The hero is still very wealthy, but not the high society tycoon type.)

When Mason Carlisle reluctantly agrees to help his brother out by distracting Daisy McGregor -- the shy, plain, chubby McGregor sister -- he finds himself in unexpectedly good company. Then Daisy discovers the truth, and asks Mason to make it up to her by being her date for her sister's wedding. Drawn to Daisy more than he wants to be, Mason insists they have to make their fake relationship look good by spending a lot of time together. But nothing could ever come of it... because Mason isn't a relationship kind of guy, and insecure Daisy could never believe he's truly interested in her.

Although I can't help feeling sad at the loss of the Anders angst-fest, I enjoyed these relatable characters and the often funny dialogue. Daisy and Mason's senses of humor match up nicely, making them really work as a couple, and though Daisy's inferiority complex gets tiresome, the story does address that. There's a nice set-up for a story for Mason's brother and Daisy's sister--an unrequited love turned to angry indifference--and I look forward to it.

this was has many of my favorite things going for it.. The ugly duckling aspect, the fake romance and great characters. Daisy McGregor is considered the "other" sister. You have the pretty one, the cute one and then Daisy. She is shy and socially awkward. Mason is the town's bad boy makes good. He was in the navy, did a little modeling and owned a successful business before he sold it for millions. Mason's brother is interested in one of Daisy's sisters. when he finds out about the wedding party at the bar, he asks Mason to distract Daisy so that he could get close to Daffadil(the sister). Much to Maons' surprise, he actually likes Daisy. She is smart and has a sense of humor. the story is predictable but so much fun. Daisy characters grows at a believable rate. It is not an overnight change from ugly duckling with low confidence to a self assured beauty. Mason was good. He was very protective of her and did not allow anyone, even Daisy to talk bad about her. When he is "blackmailed" by Daisy to fake date her, he goes all in. He kept Daisy confused and off centered. The story was cute and fun to read.
