This book was okay, not my favorite though. It was hot and steamy but sometimes went on further than it needed to and I was overly annoyed.
Two broken souls who want to be toghether have a lot to overcome. Brantley and Myles is not exception. Great story by Firman
Due to technical difficulties, I was unable to access this title.
Only reason I didn't like this was because of the formatting, made it impossible for me to follow along with the story. Sorry.
I wanted to like this book, I really did. But I just couldn't. Aside from the banter between these two that was epic in the first maybe 40% it was great. Things just spiraled downhill from there.
Myles mistakes and excuses are ridiculous. Brantley who I did like until she started dating the cousins cousin cousin... whatever who was slime and then she moves into the house with the Dempsey boys! Why? Lou had offered her a smaller furnished place earlier. She had no other options? Is she that short sighted?
I didn't feel either of these two characters were likable enough, they were superficial at best. The storyline got so convoluted at the end I almost stopped reading. It's frustrating at best and I wanted to tell Myles sh** or get off the pot. According to the timeline these two are a little older than college age which in my humble opinion should have put them a tad above the adolescent behavior in the story. Brantley was a bit more settled. She is the one that kept the book afloat.
I didn't enjoy this book. Not to say it's not for anyone else, because I'm sure plenty of people would enjoy it. Be mindful it reads like a YA book.
**arc from NetGalley and Publisher in exchange for a fair review**
This, for me, was a 'just right' kind of book. Firman has done a good job with all of the essential elements - characters I want to follow; a plot that moves at the right pace and has enough interesting twists to keep me hooked; that indefinable something that catches a reader and doesn't let them go until the very last page. It somehow stands above a lot of NA fiction by virtue of a 'more interesting than most' story, and characters I completely fell for. It makes me want to read more from Firman.
This is one of those stories where I could not stop reading.
Myles and Brantley were a great pair with a relationship that gave solidity to the words, They have both been through a lot, Bratley more than Myles
A good advert for clear communication- a lot of the book could have been avoided with a frank conversation or two, but unlike others I am not complaining as then you would have missed a great story.
Although at first I had a hard time getting into this book, once I got to the 3rd chapter I was hooked and couldn't put it down. The characters were all very deep and before you know it they seem like old friends.
Myles Franco lives a quiet life in the bottom apt, until Brantley moves into the apt upstairs. His plan to stay away from her fails after a tornado rips through town. But even then, he tries. He's rude, she doesn't take his crap. She avoids him and he worries and searches her out. Their chemistry is volatile, but they both keep getting their wires crossed. Then everything changes......... (the rest would be a spoiler).
I really enjoyed this book, that I bought book #2 and look forward to the rest of this series. The author brings each character to life and before you realize it you are vested in each of them and just like me, you'll be searching out the next book.
This is the first book I have ever read by Colee Firman but it won't be my last! This book was a rollercoaster of emotions. It was sexy, emotional and angsty. There were times when I wanted to throw my kindle in frustration but then I also then wanted to hug both Brantley and Myles. They were both wounded from their pasts but perfect for one another.
I really enjoyed this story. Myles was just one of those guys that you wanted to both slap and hug at the same time. I love my heroes mean but Myles took it to another level. He was hurting himself so he lashed out at Brantley aggressively. Brantley on the same foot was also very very stubborn. It was a challenge at times but this book was great. I can't wait to jump into book two.
I would like to thank NetGalley and Weapenry Co-Op for a copy of this ebook for an honest review.
Drama and lots of it, sums up this book nicely. Brantley and Myles definitely have a steamy chemistry but they have a lot of baggage. Will they find a way to make it work? Fast paced read, I really liked it!
This book is an emotional rollercoaster, and I am still reeling from the intensity. The story is realistically heartbreaking and filled with so much angst. I worried at times that I would not like the ending, but thank goodness I was wrong. I loved the two main characters and was anxiously hoping for things to work out for them. This is the first story I've read by this author, and I'm glad I did so.
