Book 2 in this series was just as good! A "happy" couple on paper, yet Wyatt knows Ashlee should be with him and he's going to have to work hard to get her to agree. I can't wait for more!
Only reason I didn't like this book, was because, 1 I couldn't finish it, and 2 I couldn't finish it because the formatting of the book was all wrong, made it hard to follow along.
Ashlee/Trey just wants a peaceful life, with a man who loves her, her previous life, because of who her family are means that she sets her self quite low standards to achieve that.
Wyatt is always striving to do his best for others, to do the right thing and protect his brothers and his friends. This means he makes great sacrifices of himself.
Ashlee does come across as a bit naieve of the impact of her actions on others.
Wyatt comes across as an amazing guy and he does does not deserve the hard time he gets in the book.
Brooks should have been fired- he may have thought there were holes in Wyatt's story but even a lay man would have seen the holes in the story he was given that led to Brooks driving a wedge between Ashlee and Wyatt.
Decker is a good man- that is what you see
Pete is not. As for Misty well, no need for the sting in the tail at the end she was bad enough before that.
I read book one in Colee Firman's Caught Up series so I was SUPER excited to read book two in the series. Wyatt and Ashlee were fantastic characters and while stubborn and downright frustrating at times, they were a great match.
Wyatt and Ashlee have a complicated history. Ashlee is engaged to Wyatt's bestfriend, Pete. Unfortunately Pete has been and continues to be unfaithful to Ashlee but her friendship with Wyatt is hindering her from confronting Pete. YES. this is a soap opera like, but so darn good, it's addicting. It means too much to her to lose Wyatt, so she remains with Pete.
In all honesty, at times, I had to put this book down because I wanted to shake some sense into both of them. It was so frustrating and dramatic when it didn't have to be. But then I realized something. This author successfully sucked me into her story so much that I felt like I was IN THE STORY feeling all the feels and emotions. If that was her intention, then she was 1000% successful. I could not get enough of this story!!
All in all, I enjoyed this story immensely and can not wait to read more. I would like to thank NetGalley and Weapenry Co-Op for generously providing a copy of this ebook for an honest review.
This is possibly the most frustrating book that I have read in a long time. I don't usually mind that the characters could (but don't) resolve their problems just by speaking with each other, but with this story? Honestly. I just wanted to knock heads together.
And you know what? Despite the back and forth between the two, I never really got the impression that Wyatt and Ashlee had a strong, deep connection. It simply didn't leap off the page for me at all.
Overall, this was a very quick read, but for me, somewhat of a flat narrative.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.
4.5 Angsty stars

Wyatt has a reputation, one he is fine with and never saw a reason to change. Wyatt's only priority his whole life has been his brothers, protect them and then help them to lead the lives they want. Then one early morning Wyatt, on his way to work, stops his buddy's girl from making a huge mistake. The moment he holds Ashley in his arms he knows that she is different and that even if she has an engagement ring on her finger he has to have her in his life anyway he can.
Ashley ran away from her famous family in order to live a normal life. One she thought she would have with Pete, until she found him sneaking out of the house to go down the street to hook up with the town tramp. She was ready to confront them but a friend of Pete's,her fiancee, stopped her so they wouldn't see her cry. Now a year later Ashley realizes her friendship with Wyatt is what has kept her from confronting Pete and that she has more feelings for Wyatt then Pete, now everything is about to change.
This is the second book of Colee Friman's that I have read, and I really enjoyed it. Her books should come with a warning label though that states "Lots of angst and misunderstanding". That usually drives me nuts and there were times I wanted to smack the characters around, but she still sucked me in and I ate up every moment of it.
I received a ARC from Netgalley for a honest review.
Great story. This is my first book of the series and I feel a little lost at the beginning with all the characters but when O could identify each one the story and the ones to come fly in my mind. This love story is sweet and hard to find. I enjoy reading Ashlee and Wyatt story.
Can't wait for more of this series.
