The Butterfly Clues follows Lo, a high schooler who's brother is dead and no one in the family has dealt with the loss. As the family bounces from one rundown town to another, Lo has taken on the habit of collection trinkets, or stealing them. When she finds a trinket that looks like one stolen from a murdered girl in an even worse part of town, Lo goes there to investigate. Her visit finds her in a precarious situation and she finds herself obsessing over the murder. As she escapes into this new obsession she meets a new friend and gets a lead on the death of her brother.
Lo is a very relatable character, especially for those with an anxiety disorder. This is a well-written novel with strong character development. The story is compelling with highly suspenseful moments. The mystery is full of twists and turns. The author wrote a book filled with realism and emotion. I enjoyed this book very much.

I won't be able to leave a review for this book; I requested it in a past lifetime of my NetGalley use and it no longer fits with my reading interests. If I ever do end up reading it, I'll come back and update this!

The Butterfly Clues by Kate Ellison gives representation to Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and mental health. It was not the thriller I had anticipated, though.
