Rebecca York often includes a hint of the mystical in her books and this book is no different. Anyone familiar with Ms York’s work will know her writing to be excellently detailed and her story-lines to be captivating; this book is no different.

The book description accurately outlines the story but the writing itself, combined with the obvious research conducted to give such depth to the characters and story, bind together to provide a compelling read.

I would recommend this book without and reservations.

Preying Game is the fifteenth book in the Decorah Security series by Rebecca York. I have read only one other book in this series, Outlaw Justice, but find that the books can easily be read as stand alones and newcomers can catch up pretty quickly.

Jonah Ranger was restoring an antique 1955 Chevy when he heard a woman’s voice on the car radio pleading for help. She said her name was Alice Davenport, and a man was holding her captive, forcing her into a grueling workout routine so she’d be a proper challenge when he hunted her like big game on his private estate. As they talked, her voice shifted from the radio to inside Jonah’s head. Born with telepathic abilities, he’d helped Decorah Security rescue kidnap victims, but never had he felt this personal connection to one of them. Calling on psychic resources he didn’t know he possessed, Jonah was able to project himself to Alice’s location, where he could hold her in his arms, touch her, kiss her, and plan.

Preying Game is a mystery and romance with a twist. Alice is a prisoner, being forced to train and get in great shape so that her kidnapper can hunt her. Jonah works for a firm that hires people like him, those with an little extra skill. Jonah is on a mission to save Alice after hearing her pleas for help. I know that this kind of danger and connection make emotional and adrenaline run high, but I found how quickly they acted on attraction a little off putting- I mean really. A ghost-like guy that you are not even sure really exists shows up in your room and you make out? Okay, sure. I liked the effort Jonah and his team put into planning and working toward finding Alice and saving her, and I liked that while Alice was trapped she still kept thinking and doing what she could to survive another day. Then, just when I think we are ready for the wrap up- lets make it more complicated and mess with time travel a bit more. I still expected one more twist, and thought the police run ins would amount to something more. Perhaps that was ground work for something that will pop up in the series later.

Preying Game is a nice romance with a paranormal twist. I found it to be a good weekend read, but never really connected with the characters or the story. So, a good but not great read. Fans of the author or series are likely to enjoy it more than I, but I was left unimpressed but I was interested during the actual read.

"Preying Game" is my first read in the 'Decorah Security Series' and as a paranormal read, I enjoyed it very much. I have gotten away from the paranormal books in the last few years, but I enjoy romance and suspense, and this book has it all. The author gives us such a great story of Jonah and Alice connecting over years and time while falling in love. The depth of Jonah working to save a woman (Alice) from a previous time gives us a story that is complicated, with a great flow, while the story plays out to a satisfied conclusion of a HEA for Jonah and Alice. This story is like no other and highly recommended. I would like to thank NetGalley and Season Publishing for gifting me "Preying Game". My opinion is my own. This is mine 4.25 Stars!

Book received from NetGalley.

I loved this book by Rebecca York. I can't explain much of what I enjoyed because it would spoil the twists to the plot. It was great, I just wish it had been longer. It's a very quick read and even though it's in a series I had no problems reading it out of order.

The Decorah Security series is a brilliant idea. It doesn't confine itself to "mainstream" PNR - it's not afraid to go off on a tangent! Each new book is better than the last and the characters always grab you, even the ones who you don't like very much! You don't have to read the series in order but it does help to keep the characters in order in your head!

Jonah’s abilities are a lot more fragmented at the beginning of the story. But as his connection to Alice grows, so does his grasp on his telepathy. Alice is strong even when she feels vulnerable. She may go along with her captors regime but I feel that she was just feeling him out, looking for ways to escape. And her grasp of her "new world" after her rescue is phenomenal!

With action, romance, danger and passion there is something for everyone to enjoy - all with a little soupcon of PNR/sci-fi to satisfy your inner nerd!

I could not wrap my head around both the time travel and being able to connect the minds.

Rebecca York has done it again. In book #15 in her Decorah Security series, Preying Game with the title telling the whole story. Alice Davenport was kidnapped and made to endure a grueling workout before she was to be hunted like prey. Taking a chance, she telepathically called out for help. Not expecting to really receive help. Until Jonah answered her call.

If I go any further in my review I will be taken the pleasure out of the book. I must say, though. Preying Game was an enjoyable if not interesting book to be sure. The characters were likable and like the other books in this series, you won’t want to miss. But if I had to choose I would say that Preying Game is the best out of the series by far…IMOP

Let me start this review by saying something important – please, don’t let the fact that Preying Game is the fifteenth entry in the long ongoing Decorah Security series stop you from experiencing an amazing romance. If you haven’t read this series before, it’s really okay to start with this one, I’m pretty sure you’ll be tempted to go back to the beginning after you’ve finished. While there is a general feel to these stories, and at times characters from previous books do wander into scenes – that in no way spoils either this current title or your enjoyment of the entire series if you decide to go back to the start.

Preying Game is a tantalizing and intriguing concept. It’s because of stories like this that Paranormal Romance is always at the top of my book shopping list. While the story isn’t overlong page wise, it does pack a powerful punch of a story line Jonah’s abilities are a joy to experience, and together he and Alice make a satisfying, engaging couple. With one problem seemingly solved, this story continues to give us even more to discover and think about. Yes, I am being rather vague, but I believe with Paranormal Romance reading, not telling, is believing.. in the story.

I was caught up in Preying Game from the first page, and the story never let me down. I was hooked until the final word – and that’s what makes a book great in my opinion.

I would recommend this story and this series to any Paranormal Romance or Romantic Suspense reader. You’ll find interesting stories, engaging couples, danger, sexiness and secondary characters who truly make and matter to the overall story.

*I received an e-ARC of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley. That does not change what I think of this story. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this book.*

First thing that caught my eye was the guy on the cover as he's used quite often on fantasy genre books especially paranormal ones. Although he has been used on Frank's (book 0.5) when I looked at past book covers…

The whole figuring out how to reach/rescue her was cool. I didn't think that was going to be a factor but there was 2 early hints in the beginning of you paid attention. I would have not minded if it ended at the rescue. Can't wait to read more of the past books!

Telepathy is an interesting talent and one that is used to find a kidnapping victim. The story was uniquely written because of how the victim was found and the mystery that unfolded. The story could have stopped about half way and I would have been satisfied. However, they continued to dig deeper and solve some murders. It was a quick read for me and kept me intrigued. My review was written voluntarily after reading an advanced copy.

Unexpected twists and turns make this a strong story. The "Insta-love" was a bit out of the blue, yet worked for the story. Rebecca York crafted a paranormal story that is unusual and enjoyable.

This book can definitely be read as a stand alone. I really enjoyed the story. The characters were fairly well developed for this being a shorter novel. The whole concept behind the plot was rather fascinating. While not getting into the logistics of the story the concept that was addressed was handled very well. Yes, I know I am not telling much, but I was surprised by the twist, and I am not going to ruin it for someone else.

Good character development and an interesting plot with major twists. I did enjoy this story.

An interesting twist in the plot. I enjoyed the main characters though Jonah needed to be more "modern" in his mannerisms and speach. Overall the book was entertaining and interesting.

I enjoyed this book. It kept me on my toes, the story was not a cookie cutter story and had its own twists and turns. The only part that I had a problem with, was the main characters met and basically attacked each other's face. I just thought that was pretty quick. But despite that moment, I really enjoyed the book and since it is part of a series, I will look for the other books. I would suggest this book for anyone that likes action and mystery in their romance books.

Loved this book! Actually, I love the whole series. If you enjoy romantic suspense with a paranormal twist, you will love this book.

Alice is a kidnapped women being held by a madman. She desperately wants to escape, but can't find a way out. In desperation, she sends out a mental SOS in the prayer that someone can hear her. She knows its impossible, but its all she has. Jonah "hears" her on his car radio. Being a Decorah Security agent gives him access to resources that might be able to help, if he can only find her....

This is a fast paced novel that I devoured...I could not put it down. Fans of the genre will love this book. While this is part of a series, it is a stand alone novel.

This is my first 'Decorah Security' book and even though it is book 15 in the series it can most definitely be read as a standalone. The book told in multiple POV follows Jonah Ranger who is part of the Decorah Security team, (a team that rescue missing people), and Alice Davenport who has been abducted by a rich big game hunter (his ideal game is young women). Alice contacts Jonah telepathically, and they finally meet when Jonah is transported to her underground cell, it is then apparent that all is not as it seems, and things are a lot more complicated than Jonah first anticipated. An interesting story that had me eager to find out the outcome of their mission. I was provided with an advanced copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

It was hard to come up with a review that doesn't give the story away too much. I can say that my favorite part was when Jonah was trying to explain to Alice about some new technologies. If you've read some of the books in this series, then this one will make since and will probably enjoy it as much as I did. If it's the first one, then you'll be okay as long as you like sci-fi romance books.
