I really enjoyed this book! It was refreshing to read a story that took two characters and showed trust built without the drama coming. So many of the books out on the market have the love story with troubled pasts, coming together, misunderstanding or wrong decisions which lead to a separation of the two people while they work their problems out and end up back together, happy again. This book wasn't like that, and its a nice change of pace. It took you through the rocky beginnings of a woman getting a man who has had a terrible past to open up and let others in, to trust.

strong read about a broken man, a woman who sees through all of his pain and traumatized horses needing care... This two characters needed to work through the differences and pain of the past... with the outcome being a positive.

A really good story written by talented author Justine Davis about a wounded hero and the heroine who heals him.
The initial antagonism/misunderstanding between hero and heroine leads to their gradual attraction and the slow unveiling of the hero’s horrific past.
Justine Davis is one of my favorite authors and she really knows how to create a wounded hero.
The parallelism between the broken hero, abused as a child, and the neglected horses is interesting, “wounded souls recognizing each other” (quote from ARC).
I delayed reading this story because I wanted to savor it, Davis always delivers good stories.
Some aspects were a bit clichéd or solved too easily and there were some sappy moments in the end, but overall this is a good romance novel.

This is my first read by Justine Davis and I enjoyed the premise of the story and the characters` roles within. The cast and plot were good, however there were times I felt that issues were glossed over and resolved too quickly, but overall this was a satisfying read.

Whiskey River Rescue is my first read by Justine Davis. I liked this story although I found resolutions came too easy at time the promise of what was to come held my interest and kept me reading until the end.

It took a really long time for me to get into this book, and in the end, I had to force myself to finish. I think it was just too....neat, maybe? I felt like every conflict that arose was too easily fixed, and I didn't feel a connection with either character. Kelsey was just a little too much of a saint, and Declan was still a mystery to me, even in the end. When their relationship went sexual, I was bored by it. I wasn't emotionally invested in the characters, and I have to be in order to recommend a book. This is why I am not publishing a review, despite the 3-star rating. I wouldn't recommend the book as it is. If the author had fleshed out the characters more, maybe added a different conflict or two, I may have been more into it. Overall the story was just okay, and I felt it had a lot of unfulfilled potential.
