This is the first book I have read by J. Scott Matthews. I have to admit I found it lacking.
The story is complex as a reader I found myself getting lost. Than the story ended and I felt lost. I know it is only book one but I needed some time of conclusion to the story instead it ended.
I could be wrong but I thought a Noir was a style of Black and White films that had a femme fatale and the PI who is hared by the world falls for the femme fatale or his misguided justice. This book lack this normal story line. Again this my understanding of a Noir style of writing and movie.
I didn't feel this story was really let in Tokyo. Nothing in this story said Tokyo expect for the Japaneses Mob Yakuza. The think is that Mob or Gang could be place on the Island of Hawaii and I don't think I would have known the difference.
The writing elaborate and I think another editor could have done a better job of toning things down and fixing a few details that would have giving this dystonia better base which it cold grow.
