The Devil’s Bible is the sequel to Dana Chamblee Carpenter’s best seller Bohemian Gospel. I highly recommend you read or listen to it first. Both books were very well researched; the time periods, politics and church history. Mouse, the main character, was a very unusual female for the time period. She was better educated than most women at the time. Mouse is changed in the second book, The Devil’s Bible. Her spirit seems damaged or broken; just trying to survive. A shadow of a person instead a person. Eventually she becomes more like her old self again, but it was frustrating waiting.
Emma has been hiding from people for centuries, in this small, sleepy college town has she slipped and found a place to stay? Can Emma be hidden from her father or has she just relaxed and stopped watching? Reading this book you hope to find the answer to the, while every page holds a twist mystery. I enjoyed the book and will read the next part to find what happens to Emma.
