Great read with excellent tips and a helpful structure to follow for a cleaning and organizing routine. Enjoyable and informative all around.
I’m a sucker for books that have “organize your home” in the title and it did cover that area somewhat but mostly it’s about cleaning-VERY thoroughly! Good ideas and tips here.
As a resource for homemade cleaning agents and some simple tips for keeping the home clean, sanitary, and smelling fresh this is a fairly good choice. Recommended for large collections.
Just do a little every day. So simple, yet exactly what I needed to read. This book is full of practical tips and encouragement. Very good!
I wasn't sure there was anything new to say about cleaning, but already this book has changed the way I clean bathrooms (speed-cleaning method that actually worked!). Love the homemade cleaning supply recipes.
Simply Clean is a no fail method to keep your house clean in just a few minutes a day. The author is a home cleaning and organizing expert who has written a easy to follow guide here for anyone that needs improvement in their home.
I loved this guide and am incorporating many of her techniques myself. The routine is simple, logical and will change your home life. I enjoyed the 28 day clean challenge and the environmentally friendly home cleaning recipes which I am using in my own home. Very well done and a sensible approach!
Thank you for the ARC . The opinions are my own. I highly recommend this guide for everyone interested in perfecting their home in a easy fun way with just a few minutes a day. Give it a try you will be glad you did !
Your Cleaning Routine Refined (4 stars)
As one of those weirdos who can go to work and be a cleaning and organizing maniac you'd think my house would be spotless. It makes no sense but I loathe cleaning and my home often shows it. I either don't know where to start or feel overwhelmed and completely stall. I really didn't think this book could offer much help but to my surprise there were some great insight and ideas.
For the sake of reviewing I tested Rapinchuk's 10 minutes theory. I'd set a timer, put on a playlist, and tackle one room. You can bet I was annoyed to actually get a bathroom clean in less than 15 minutes when I actually told myself I couldn't do anything else until the timer went off. No taking the trash out of the room or anything that could distract me. So I kept trying it and while I'm not following the method yet I'm hoping to implement properly once I have a non-reviewer's copy to use.
If, like myself, you really want to live in a clean and tidy space but struggle with burnout, overwhelm, or just feel lost knowing how to make a plan and stick to it this book is worth giving a read. I tend to be a skeptic with organizing and cleaning methods and I hate to be wrong but this is one time I'm happy I went against that part of me that shies at this kind of thing. The many lists and even recipes (for DIY cleaners) contained within are a great help.
At the very least you'll probably get some pointers on what's keeping you living in clutter. Sometimes that's all ya need to kickstart a change.

RATING: 3 STARS
I was interested in this book to see if there were more tips I could pick up. This book is more like a magazine article stretched out to a book. It is fun to look through and has a few tips but it is one book I would borrow from library rather than own.
This is a great book to give to college students, newlyweds or anyone else you know who seems too overwhelmed to keep a tidy house. And even if your house is generally clean and tidy, this books still has a lot of great tips and methods to improve on your current system.
Simply Clean: The Proven Method for Keeping Your Home Organized, Clean, and Beautiful in Just 10 Minutes a Day, by Becky Rapinchuk provides helpful, step-by-step directions to cleaning.
As indicated by the title, this book demonstrates how to clean in easy, stress-free manner in about ten minutes per day, as well as features practical advice and step-by-step explanations regarding household chores and cleaning tasks.
This book is divided into the following four main sections: You Want a Clean and Tidy Home, Now What, The Simply Clean Method: 10 Minutes to a Happier, Healthier Home, Customizing the Simply Clean Method for Your Life, How to Clean and Organize (Just About) Anything. There are Quick Tips and Cleaning Extension notes listed throughout this book.
Simply Clean is geared towards all ages, from young adults to older generations, interested in streamlining their household cleaning process.
Note: I received this book from NetGalley, which is a program designed for bloggers to write book reviews in exchange for books, yet the opinions expressed in this review are my own.
Simply Clean is a way to approach cleaning to make it easier and less frustrating. Author Rapinchuk zeroes in on the big problem with housecleaning: it's easy to let it snowball until tasks become a day long episode of unfriendly burden. By breaking tasks down into 5-15 minutes a day, she creates a plan for keeping the house consistently clean but without becoming overwhelmed by the scope of it all. This also ensures that the home is always clean - rather than messy until the monumental weekend cleaning rage occurs.
The book breaks down as follows: Part one delves into
the Simply Clean plan of breaking tasks down into small bits as well as the initial 'big clean' to get the house ready for the plan. Part Two is the 28 day challenge - with 4 weeks dedicated to different parts of the house (kitchen, living spaces, bathrooms, bedrooms). P:art Three is about customizing the plan for your particular lifestyle. Part Four gives tips for organizing, cleaning options, and decluttering.
The book is quite thorough on the subject and the author covers nearly all topics - from making your own cleaning solutions to how to wash window. Lifestyle changes include eg., a decluttering plan of attack (to make dusting easier) to organizing your socks and undies.
Because there is a clear plan in the 28 day period to get the house ready for easy cleaning for years afterwards, I feel this is a good book for those having trouble keeping their houses in shape. But for those who love the warmth and 'hominesss' of chochkis and clutter, they may find the spartan approach to keeping a home a bit anti-intuitive. That said, though, there are great tips in here that are well worth the read alone. The information is nicely presented, broken down in small chunks, with a friendly tone and easy to follow. Reviewed from an advance reader copy provided by the publisher.
I received this book for free from the publisher via NetGalley in return for an honest review.
Do you want to clean less, yet have a cleaner home? Are you overwhelmed by trying to keep your home clean? “Simply Clean” by Becky Rapinchuk is a simple, easy to follow guide for getting your house organized and clean with as little time as possible: 10-15 minutes at a time. She also discusses the importance of prioritizing simple tasks and setting “honest” goals. She sprinkles “Quick Tips” or “tips to make life easier” and “Cleaning Extensions” or “steps to implement a system in your home that will keep it cleaner for longer” throughout the book, as helpers.
She explains why you need a cleaning routine, how to implement, how to deep clean and how to keep it clean afterwards.
The author gives to tips to clean just about anything in your house. There is even a section on making your own cleaning products. I tried the daily shower spray and absolutely love it! So much cheaper than purchasing, much better for the environment and it can be customized to your favorite scent. I also purchased a set of dryer balls as she recommended in lieu of a fabric softener. Not sure about those yet, and I don’t recommend with darks items… they left a bit of white lint on all the items. Also, they are a bit noisy (like sneakers in the dryer), so I don’t recommend if your dryer is near bedrooms and you dry clothes when anyone is trying to sleep.
She also includes lots of checklists. Some examples are daily and weekly cleaning tasks, 7-day kick-start, 28-day simply clean challenge, daily and weekly tasks, Spring cleaning, kitchen speed cleaning, stain removal, monthly rotating tasks and many more.
Have similar books been written? Yes, but Ms. Rapinchuk writes in an easy-to-follow manner and has lots of great tips. If you are a new homemaker, have never read a book of this type or need a refresher, absolutely get this one!
Simply Clean by Becky Rapinchuk is a cleaning guide with wonderful and very useful strategies for getting your home clean and organized and a schedule to help keep it that way. The variety of schedules are very useful and easy to adapt for any work schedule. The book includes tons of recipes for natural cleaning supplies. I'm inspired to try this method! As a library book, the book can still be useful, but honestly I would probably buy a copy of the book to keep at home for reference. Highly recommend this book!
Thank you so much for approving me for this title, sadly I am unable to open protected PDF and most of my work is done on my kindle. I look forward to purchasing this book when it becomes available on a mass market.
I'm already a huge fan of the Clean Mama so couldnt wait to dig into this book. Full of useful tips to make cleaning not so much but much much less of a chore! And actually whack the radio up and you might enjoy yourself a little bit. I really found this book incredibly useful so much so that I am off to purchase a hard copy of the book as well as the kindle version just so that I can dip into and out of it with ease. I love the natural recipes in the book and have even tried making my own - they work great! HIghly recommend!
Whether you have been running a home for 40 years or 40 days this book will give you tips to get your home into shape. None of us want or have the time to constantly clean life's little messes. This book shows you how to do a little day by day slowly adding in other tasks so you aren't overwhelmed and still have time to spend with your family. The tasks aren't "mandatory" you are allowed to skip one day and catch up on another so you have the freedom without the guilt.
I admit, my house is a bit cluttered, but this book has given me a great place to get started to clearing out the trouble spots in my home. It has also given me a fresh set of eyes to look at my home and see what I need to pay attention to instead of overlooking and ignoring. The printouts offered on Ms. Rapinchuk's website are fantastic to have in your hand so you can see and be reminded of what needs to be done.
I was given an eARC by the publisher through NetGalley.
Love this book. Easy to read, very informative with a lot of helpful tips and practical guide to cleaning.
The 7-day simply clean kick-start checklist and the 28-day simply clean challenge checklist are very helpful for me and easy to follow. After reading the book, I check the author's blog and really enjoy the blog: www.cleanmama.net
Thank you Netgalley for this book.
Cleaning is not fun.
In Simply Clean, Becky Rapinchuk still didn’t convince me that cleaning is fun, but she did make me think that, with a little organization, it may not be so bad.
Simply Clean is an inspiring book that teaches you little techniques that make cleaning not such a chore. The book is well organized and contains a lot of easy to use checklists to get your home sparkling clean – without making you want to fall down and cry a while.
You start out simply (for us beginners) and eventually move into techniques for deeper cleaning and organization. Of course, by the time you get to the deep cleaning, Rapinchuk has you so well trained that even that’s a breeze.
For those who are eco or cost minded, she also includes some home recipes for cleaners. I didn’t use those as I’m strictly a buy it sort of girl.
After reading the book, I also took a look at the author’s website. While much of the information in the book is also available there, I found I preferred the book for its clean, organized style and terrific tips.
I’m still on my cleaning journey. It’s still not fun, but it’s a whole lot easier following the Simply Clean method! Only thing the book is missing? Photos. While I guess I don’t really need photos of clean spaces, they would be even more inspiring.
An interesting book, although I felt totally inadequate reading it - if I had a decent cleaning schedule, I wouldn't read the book. It would also help if there was a section on dealing with animals and their associated issues (fur, dirt, bedding, fleas and smells). Other than that, I found it a really useful source of information. Apart from being somewhat intimidated, I'll give it a go :-)
Since I follow Becky’s Blog and frequently check her website for any updated information, I knew this book would be a wealth of information on staying organized and keeping the house clean year round. She always has good tips and tricks. I thought the book would be full of the same stuff on her sites, but it is all new information filled with stuff I never thought of. TIP: You can find free printable cleaning/organizing charts and sheets of cleaning tips on her website that are used with her advice in the book. They make it so easy get organized and keep the house clean year round.
