5 Stars!

Harper Sloan... you have completely outdone yourself with your brand new series. I've been a fan since day one and seriously.... this book will go down as a top favorite of all time (and cowboys are totally not my thing!).

Lost Rider is the first sexy and sweet standalone novel in the Coming Home series and it is hitting all marks... proving that time and distance don't lessen the love we have in our hearts.

He left ten years ago and never looked back, shattering her heart. She was left to pick up the broken pieces. Now he's back in town... and ready to go all in, lay it on the line, and get the girl who had always owned his heart.

Packed with a beautiful second chance and a serious punch to the heart, Leighton and Maverick are going to come in and steal your heart like a thief in the night, leaving you breathless and desperate for more.

Be still my besting heart..... Man I loved Maverick and Leighton! These two were so amazing... swoony, fun, broody, complicated, intense, passionate, and hit me with all the feels in all the right places. Epic.... their story was epic and the setup for the future surrounding the secondary characters, just yes!

Man oh man, if you haven't read this author then right NOW is the time to jump on board because she is out, brand new with her first traditionally published book that is set your heart racing and on fire.

I highly recommend this book.

I've got to admit. This is my first Harper Sloan book. I have always had things by her on my TBR list but with this one, it's the first time I've taken the plunge. I'm glad I did. I really enjoyed this book. Western/Cowboy books are usually not my thing. I tend to not read them just because they never peaked my interest. I'm not sure why this one did though. It was a pleasant surprise.

The story is a 2nd chance romance and a childhood one at that. I liked Maverick a lot and I also liked Leighton. I thought they worked well together. I would have liked to have seen their romance be more of a slow build and not so quick but other than that it was fine. There was too much internal dialogue for me but I kinda just skimmed some of it when I got to that point.

I liked this book and I hope you do to. I am looking forward to Quinn and Clay's book. I think that one will be a good one as well.

I don't know what I expected from this book, but I do know I did not expect to love it as much as I did! I can't wait for the rest of the series and I have to read more of Harper Sloan's books, because I am just enamored with her characters and writing. The story was nostalgic in the best ways and immediately made me flashback to my first love/teenage crush and its fierce intensity, as well as the crushing heartache that I felt when things didn't work out as I wanted. It also made me so giddily happy to see the characters get their own sweet HEA after everything they'd been through. I think that my favorite part of the book was, even though the end was sort of rushed, none of the real issues that were discussed were glossed over or ignored, and the characters COMMUNICATED with each other from beginning to end, instead of internalizing every thought or making assumptions. It was so refreshing! Plus the sex was hot :) I give Lost Rider 4 out of 5 wine glasses and I'm totally stoked for the rest of the Coming Home series!

Favorite Quote: “Are you drunk, baby?” Maverick smirks at me.

I nod.

“You want to keep getting drunk or go home?”

“That depends,” I whisper huskily, crooking my finger so he’ll bend closer to me. “Do I get to ride my cowboy in both scenarios or only one?”

I’ve never read Harper Sloan (I plan to hit her back list hard after this one) and when I saw in the blurb the hero is a retired rodeo star, I decided to try it. I’m so, so glad I did because I really enjoyed this book and this author’s voice. The way she writes her hero (and maybe even her heroine) reminds me a bit of Kristen Ashley, which is a good thing.

Maverick is an asshole to start – and I have to say, an asshole hero done right is my catnip. Two things happen that make him a successful asshole: one, he is redeemed by the end of the book (dare I say, he turns quite mushy after starting off VERY intense) and two, Leighton, our heroine, stands up to him and gives it back just as good as he dishes it out. I adored her.

Maverick and Leighton grew up together in Pine Oaks, Texas, and Leighton crushed hard on Maverick who is a few years older than her. When he is eighteen, Maverick decides he needs to leave this town and explore his dreams of being a rodeo star. In a desperate attempt to gain his attention, Leighton goes to a bonfire shortly before he leaves, dressed in a more…mature fashion..and overhears Maverick saying how she is trying too hard and she has the body of a boy. Devastated, Leighton flees, and Maverick leaves for rodeo stardom, not to be seen again for years.

But Maverick won’t be gone forever. Ten years later, he has had one too many concussions and can’t ride anymore. At the same time, he learns his father has died, so he grudgingly goes back home for the funeral, and to see his brother Clay, his sister Quinn and back to the family ranch. He doesn’t like ranching, but he also feels like with his rodeo career over, it’s time settle down and help out his brother and sister. Maverick had an abusive father and a mother who abandoned the family – so there is no love lost over the death of his father. His father never once supported his rodeo career:

Instead, all I can focus on is the fact that, even at my peak, I wasn’t good enough for him to be proud of me.

No matter what, the silence from him over the years said it all. He couldn’t give two fucks what I accomplished out there on the circuit.

It took me a long time to realize that I had been pushing myself for so long to prove to him I was worthy, but even when I fucking knew it wasn’t worth it, something inside me still wanted to matter to Buford Davis.

When Maverick arrives back in Pine Oak he is bitter, pissed off, and in no mood for friends or family. And then he sees Leighton at the funeral.

Leighton has spent the years with Maverick gone, well, thinking about him. She has opened a very successful pie shop in town, and is happy – but her love for Maverick has never wavered. She is extremely close with both Quinn and Clay – they have become her family and she knows the tension with Maverick being gone so long and not really part of the ranch or family is pretty intense. She knows Maverick will be back for the funeral and her tension is ramped up too. Their reunion at the funeral however, doesn’t go so well. Maverick doesn’t even recognize her at first, thinking she is a random girlfriend of Clay’s:

“How well do you even know her? You haven’t said one word about have a new piece of ass so she must not have been in the picture long. Best I can tell, I’m not too far off the mark.”

“How well do I know her?” He laughs bitterly. “I’d say pretty well, considering she’s been Quinn’s best friend for twenty-six fuckin’ years. Why don’t you let that sink in, you fuckin’ asshole?”

My eyes leave his instantly and I look over to his truck, trying to see past the black tint that hides her from my view. No fucking way. It couldn’t be.

But even when he realizes this random woman is Leighton, he still can’t be nice. He is such a jerk – because he obviously secretly loves her, but he is so bitter over his past with his dad, and feels guilty over how he treated Leighton all those years ago – it’s easier to be a big jerk than to apologize

“Yeah. Like I said, you ain’t over shit. I was out of line. We need to put it behind us so I can go back to the ranch.”

His words hit me, the meaning clear, and I’m suddenly even more pissed than I was just a second before.

“So you can go back to the ranch?”

“That’s what I said.”

“Why, you good-for-nothing jerk. You didn’t come over here to apologize for showing your ass, but to what? You get put in time-out by Clay? Or Quinn? You could have saved us both the trouble and just driven around in that flashy little truck of yours for a red-hot minute before heading back and reporting to them like a good little boy that you had done as ordered.”

“Now, you listen here—” he starts, stepping forward, our chests just a foot apart.

“Oh, I don’t think so, mister. You might think the sun came up just to hear you crow, but I assure you that I don’t need your cocky ass lighting my doorstep.”

I love Leighton SO much. She can take his surly attitude and throw it right back in his face. She never gets whiny or acts immature – her feisty attitude made me smile over and over again. She fully admits to herself that he is still so damn sexy, even when he is scowling and shooting off his mouth. She doesn’t deny their attraction, but doesn’t let him get away with anything either. Heck – she even throws a pie in his face!

“You want your pie?!” I yell, my voice coming out more like a high-pitched screech. My ears roar as my heart picks up speed with my anger and I feel like I can actually hear the blood rushing through my veins. “You want your blasted pie?” I knock him in the gut with my shoulder hard enough to make him shuffle back a step as I push past him and walk over to the fridge that’s closest to my office. The one that I keep all my special pies in. Wrenching the door open, I grab the closest cookie dough creation before slamming the door back.

{…}

“You want your pie, Mav?” I ask again, this time hiding my anger behind a sticky-sweet voice and a little smile.

He doesn’t speak, and honestly, I’m not sure I’m capable of giving him a word in anyway. Without a second thought, I bring my arm back before I swing it forward and slap the whole pie into his face.

“There’s your goddamn pie, you good-for-nothing jackass!”

Have I mentioned yet that this book is sexxxxy?

With quick and impatient movements, he pulls his hips back, moves his hand from my hair and down to my hips—mirroring the hold of his other hand as he lifts me from him and slams me back down over his hard cock, impaling me completely.

He growls deep in his throat.

I scream loud enough to wake the dead.

His head falls forward, forehead to my sweat-slicked chest.

My head falls back, forehead to the ceiling.

They have explosive sex pretty quick…and then they take a step back and sort out their true feelings. Maverick goes from pissed off asshole to a pretty mushy romantic hero pretty quick in this one. I kind of wanted him to stay jerky for just a bit longer because the sexual tension was just so delicious, but his romantic side and they way he decided to court Leighton properly made me smile as well.

I also loved Clay and Quinn (her book is next). Clay is just as intense as Maverick and is extremely protective of Leighton – he squares off against Maverick when he first comes back home and their scenes are so well done. There is a lot of growly words between them.

And Quinn is a riot – when she learns that Maverick and Leighton are giving it a go at a relationship she made me laugh:

“Ohmigod. Ohmigod. Oh. My. God,” my sister mutters under her breath, eyes even wider. “Clay,” she says with a gasp, reaching out blindly behind her to find him, not looking away from the two of us. “Clayton!” she screams when her hand can’t find him.

“Jesus, Quinn, take a breath,” he grumbles, grabbing her hand before she can slap him.

“It’s happening,” she breathes.

“You are the weirdest person in the world,” Leigh says, laughing.

I highly recommend this one. Maverick, with his southern drawl and all his “darlin’s” and his Stetson and dusty boots are going to make you swoon. And Leighton is such a fun heroine. Dying for Quinn’s book.

Loved this book. It's a book of two people who are lost and are trying to find their way in life. They grew up together. Maverick and Leighton have known each other forever. Leighton is Maverick sister's best friend. It was no secret she was always in love with him.

They were good friends but Maverick pushed Leighton away and left town. There are secrets uncovered that cause pain to those involved. Maverick had to leave town or his father would've done something to him. He was punished for sins that weren't his.

Leighton lost her parents but before she lost them she lost Maverick. She has build walls around her heart to protect herself.

Maverick and Leighton lose years with each other because of how he felt. The only way these two can find their way is if they allow each to find their way back to each othe and if they open up to each other completely.

Loved this book. It had all the feels and emotions. Book is written so it flows well and I didn't want it to end. Can't wait for the next book. Received an ARC from netgally for an honest review.

I enjoyed my time at the Davis ranch and I can’t want to return…. not because this was cliffhanger but because I am excited to see how a happy plays out for the oldest Davis sibling, Clay and the youngest sibling, Quinn.

Lost Rider told the story of middle child Maverick Davis.

Maverick’s love interest Leighton is not only someone he has known his whole life she also happens to be his sister’s best friend. This is not a second chance love story so to speak but there was a connection and deep hurt and I like that Maverick set about making that right.
I really like Leighton’s character. She built her own life and her own way in this small town despite experiencing deep personal loss.
She pushed Maverick to open up, her pushing him to open up to his siblings brought a tear to my eye, his lady making his family stronger what more could you ask for.

Speaking of his lady… I freaking LOVED the restaurant scene… enough said!

love, LOVED the back story here —why Maverick had to leave town, what he learned about himself during the departure and what he decided to do upon his return.

Clay and Quinn played an integral part in this story and as they wove in and out scenes, their stories built as did Maverick’s character and the readers connection.

There was a bit too much inner dialogue for me personally… as it did distract from my reading experience. I found myself craving more dialogue.

The Davis Ranch sits in the small town of Pine Oak which also had some great supporting characters.

In this story there was something in the epilogue something I have never read before someone so perfect for Maverick and Leighton’s happy; I think I let out an audible sigh. So amazing, let’s just say names mean so much and NO it is NOT a baby at the end.. not telling read the book!

I am excited for Quinn’s book coming up next – Kiss My Boots

I loved getting lost in Harper's cowboy's world. I loved the emotions and how the past came knocking on both Maverick and Leighton's doors! I enjoyed the fact that the chapters flipped back and forth through their point of view and also how each chapter had a new song to go along with it. I was enraptured with their story, their younger years and them learning who they were now. I loved the familial relationship Leighton had with Maverick's family, despite his absence. Quinn and Leighton were thick as thieves and Leighton had always tried to avoid Maverick whenever the siblings had a chance to see their brother. And things quickly escalated upon his return home. Hold on to your seats! It's an intense, emotional, sweet, sad, and oh-so-sexy story you won't want to put down! Looking forward to more books in this series! Grab your copy today, I promise, you won't be disappointed!

My Review: I wanted to love this. I had high hopes for it - Harper Sloan is an awesome writer, and I love me some cowboys. But unfortunately, this book fell flat. I think what really made it rough for me was the pacing. I don't really notice pacing until I get a rough example of it, but this book definitely made it noticeable. The transition from scene to scene felt awkward, at best. The scenes themselves moved either too fast, or uncomfortably slow.

The thing is, I liked the characters. And the story itself had promise. But despite everything it had going for it, this book turned out mediocre. Some individual scenes are great, but they are diamonds in the rough. I have hopes for the next in the series, though!

Cover Lovin': So cute. I love the sun coming through.

Recommendation: Book 1, no prior knowledge necessary.

Final Rating: THREE out of FIVE stars (3/5)! I wish I could have loved this. Lost Rider had its shining moments, but overall, this book is lackluster.

What is not to love about a sexy, alpha cowboy? Especially one given to us by Harper Sloan? Lost Rider is a western romance with a sexy cowboy, the girl he lost and a second chance at love.

Maverick Davis had one goal when he turned eighteen. To leave and become a rodeo star. It was all he ever wanted, even if he crushed those he left behind, including the girl who held his heart. But ten years later, he is coming home to the one place he never thought he would see again. A place that held pain and loss for him.

All Leighton James ever wanted was Maverick Davis. But after he broke her heart on his way out of town, she learned to move on, even if her heart did not. She built a life she was proud of, even if she was never able to give her heart to anyone else. Maverick may be back, but she was a strong and independent woman now who did not need him at all, right?

I really liked Mav. He was lost and broken, but once he made up his mind on something, he followed through with all he had. Yes, he could be cruel and harsh, but as we learn more about his past, we begin to understand him more. And what he wanted was a future with Leigh. Leigh who was now strong and determined. So different than the girl Mav had left behind. She was sweet, loving, loyal and caring. She was determined to keep Mav at arm’s length, but life never works out as we think we want it too.

Once Mav comes home, he begins to realize how much he actually lost when he left. As he reconnects with his siblings and the town he left behind, he finally begins to realize things could have been different. We see him struggle to find his place. Meanwhile, Mav and Leigh can’t seem to stop pushing each other’s buttons. The sparks fly all around them.

I liked Mav and Leigh. Mav had so much weighing on him he never shared with anyone, that it nearly broke him. Leigh was so hurt by Mav when he left, she was afraid to give her heart away. Will they finally be able to be open with each other and see where they go from here?

Lost Rider by Harper Sloan was a sweet second chance at love story about two people who were always meant to be together, but lost their way. Their journey was not easy, but both worked hard for what they wanted. And I absolutely loved Quinn and Clay, and the quirky town people. A good read, especially if you love cowboy romances.

I give Lost Rider by Harper Sloan 4-stars.

This is my first book by Harper Sloan and I really enjoyed Maverick (a retired rodeo star) and Leighton’s (a past love) story.

The depiction of Maverick’s anger and struggle to adapt after being forced to give up his passion is well written and keeps the reader involved, while Leighton’s own pain and demons are evident even 10 years after Maverick left her behind without a backward glance.

Overall, a good story with secondary characters that brought their own flavour to this first of the series. I’m looking forward to Quinn and Clay’s stories; so who will be next?

Lost Rider is the first in a new series by Harper Sloan and her first contemporary western. This story is a slow burn and we get glimpses of their past relationship as the story unfolds.
Leighton has loved Maverick since she was just a kid. Maverick life was a living He**! H needed to leave home and everything behind and in doing so he hurts Leighton badly.
When Maverick returns home for his fathers funeral and his life is turned upside down. Maverick is lost, he just recently learned his bull riding days are over and the last time he felt any peace was in a field of flowers with Leighton when they were young. She was his calm in the storm of his life. His is so angry when he returns home is a complete idiot. How can he ever make it up to her. I had a hard time loving Maverick in the beginning. When his story begins to come to light my heart broke for him. He had a lot to make up to the girl of his dreams. The beauty of him finding peace with Leighton finally was so good. Loving this new series. Wonderful supporting characters. Looking forward to reading the next book.

5 Finding what you've lost stars

I've been a Harper Sloan fan since the very first Corps Security book was released and I love ALL her couples. After reading Lost Rider I can unequivocally say Maverick and Leighton have topped all the other couples and are not only my favorite Harper Sloan couple, but are definitely in my Top 10 of ALL Time couples.

I had an immediate connection with this book from the very first page. I don't think I can actually explain the feelings I had when I started this story. I'll be honest too, I wasn't expecting to be this enamored with this book. Don't get me wrong, I knew I'd love it, because it's a Harper Sloan book, but, I opened my kindle, started the book and the next thing I know four hours have gone by and I didn't even realize it.

This is the story of Maverick Davis and Leighton James. And while it's not truly a second chance romance, it really is because as we read in the book, the feelings these two have had for each other have gone on for their entire lives. They literally grew up together and Leighton has always loved Mav and we come to find out he's had the same feelings for her, but because of things that happen at his home, he purposely says and does some things that crush her heart. I wanted to just take his black Stetson and slap him upside the head! Once the fire is started with them though, watch out...

"This is a mistake.....This is far from a mistake. This is a lifetime of want combusting in a split second of affirmation that proves how wrong she is."

The connection Mav and Leigh have is literally jumping off the pages at us. While it's been ten years since he's been home and the pain that is still in the forefront of Leighton's mind, she can't deny that he is the only one she wants and this overwhelming desire she's had for him has prevented her from finding anyone else, because, he's THE ONE...

"My skin is burning. I'm on fire. Every inch from the top of my scalp to the tips of my toes is alive with a power I've never felt before. My nerves are taking on a life of their own."

My love for these two continued to grow the further I read into the book. Their ability to see what each other needs is so vibrantly communicated with Ms. Sloan's words. Don't get me wrong it's not all lovey-dovey and twittering going on. There's plenty of sarcasm and teasing and so much playfulness at times. Especially when it comes to Quinn, Maverick's baby sister and Leighton's BFF. These two tell each other EVERYTHING even though you'd think details about her brother's sex life would be TMI...but alas, I was rolling....

"Yes, my hooha, as you so lovingly put it, is most definitely broken. Even I can't get it to work because HE BROKE IT!"

This conversation took place in The PieHole the bakery that Leighton owns and runs that makes pies only...every kind of pie you can imagine...speaking of which, I'd like some of these recipes because they sound yummy! Anywho, wouldn't you know that Maverick happens to overhear this statement and that just led us down another set of scenes where our H/h really discover what it means for them to be together. Is it possible for them to have a forever? If Maverick has his way, it's going to happen....

"I lost the only slice of heaven I've ever felt. I felt it again that night, Leigh, and I'm tellin' you right now, I'm not givin' that feelin' up without a fight....You better believe I'm ridin' this out with you until you buck me off. And darlin', there hasn't been a ride I've ever been more prepared for."

Just sweep me off my feet now why don't you? Could he be any more perfect for her? And the way he calls her "darlin'" I just sighed every single time he said it! There's so much depth to this book. More than I really thought at the beginning too. As these two rediscover who they are as a couple, secrets are revealed and let me tell you, things come out that could potentially devastate lives.

No matter what though, their unbending love for each other remains strong. While it may seem to some that they're moving quickly, when you think about it, they've had so many years together, even with the gap in time, that their pace is just perfect. The beauty and grace of the their story is so vibrantly told by Ms. Sloan that as the book was coming to a close, I was sad I wasn't going to get more of their story. I took comfort in the knowledge though that no matter what, they had found their forever....

"There is no place for doubts or fears when you have a connection as deep as ours. We didn't know it then, but these bonds were always unbreakable."

Thank you so much Ms. Sloan for bringing this book into my life and letting me experience the joy of Maverick and Leighton finding each other again and experiencing the love they've always wanted but dared not dream it could happen. I'm so looking forward to Quinn and Tate's story in Kiss My Boots!

Harper Sloan proves she can write a cowboy, along with her security alphas! This was a great start to the series. Maverick proved he is home to stay!

Maverick Davis is coming home because his sister asked him to be there for the funeral of their father the man he hated. He has been gone for ten years and made it big on the rodeo circuit, but now that is over after the last fall. Leighton James is holding her best friend and really Sister Quinn on her other side is the Davis’s older brother Clay, they were there for her when her parents died and she knew she needed to be her for them, but where was Maverick he told Quinn he would be here. When Leighton took one last look to the back of the church she knew the cowboy standing in the back with the black hat tipped down to show his face was him, she had, damn insides still in love with that ass since she was a little girl and ten years ago he ripped her heart out. When the service is over and people leave he walks up to his brother and sister says some very unkindly remarks to the third person there not knowing that it is his sister’s best friend Leighton. She reminds him of what he said ten years ago and as they drive out to parking lot gives him the bird. You may think the fireworks are over, but no. He shows up at her place called the pie hole and when she asks him what his problem is, he tells her that she has everyone favorites pie out but his. She tells him hold on goes to the back already have made a few of his favorite cookies & cream and brings one out madder than an hornet and proceeds to hit him in the face with it he then picks her up and kisses her and you can see where this is going. They have issues to work out. When he finally is able to be with her alone and start to explain things he begins with that day when he hurt her so bad and how sorry he was for that, but he didn’t know how to do it differently because he knew she would have followed him anywhere and that she would have missed her parents. He slowly tells her other things and as he begins to open up to her she begins to realize that there was more that was going next door than she could ever imagine. The relationship that they begin to build is field with layers, of past and present and you are taken back to see how and why his life was different than his brother and sister. There are many funny moments, sad, and some real loving times in this book. The author really takes you on a journey and shows you that yes in Leighton eyes she was no ugly duckling any more, but in Maverick’s eyes he always thought she was always a swan and really that is what mattered anyway. A very, very good book.

I was so excited to read this new series from Harper Sloan!I really enjoyed meeting these new characters and especially Maverick and Leighton.

This was a second chance romance and also a second chance on family, and if you read this book you'll understand what I mean.

Lost Rider is a sweet romance but also a little bit slow for my taste but overall I find it lovely and refreshing!!

4.5 'HEAD OVER BOOTS' STARS!

I've been a fan of Harper Sloan for a while now and I've pretty much read all her books, so it was safe to say when I heard she was writing a book about a cowboy, I had to dive in head first- NO questions asked.

Lost Rider did not disappoint. Maverick Davis was the perfect alpha with a touch of brooding and damaged. He'll have you swooning with his Southern drawal and sweet Southern charm.

Then there's Leighton James. The sweet girl next door who falls for her best friend's brother. She's been a part of the Davis' lives since diapers and could never shake the crush she had on Maverick. She's tough, sassy, and independent even through the curve balls that life threw her way and losing her heart to Maverick. She's always remained the same, a true Southern girl to the core making it hard not to love her.

Yet Maverick and Leighton's relationship isn't easy, in fact it's complicated. There's a lot of unsettled tension after 10 years, but regardless their chemistry was so palpable you could feel it through the pages. They healed each other, fixed one another's broken parts, and above all else they loved each other through it all.

This book definitely leaned more towards the contemporary romance genre, but it was still funny, sexy, and full of sweet perfect moments with equally great secondary characters. Bring on Clay and Quinn's stories! I can't get enough of the Davis siblings and I'm dying for their books right MEOW.

If you're looking for a read full of heart, second chances, healing, forgiveness, love, and family, then you must pick this book up!

Ahhhhhhh, this book this book THIS BOOK! I floved the hell out-of-this-book!!!!! Oh my my Leighton and Maverick gave me life! I loved all the characters and the writing was exceptional. I seriously can't get enough of this book. I want so much more, I desperately NEED more of Leigh and Mav!

Maverick leaves his hometown of Pine Oak, Texas at eighteen to become a professional bull rider. Perusing his dreams is what he's always wanted, but it comes at a price. He leaves his brother and sister behind (also, his father, but I'm not going to get into that. If I do, I'll just rage, he's another story.) And then there's Ms. Leighton Elizabeth James, his calm and his peace. She was the hardest to walkway from.

Ten years later Maverick finds himself back to the place he never thought he'd return to. He didn't leave things right with Leigh when he left, and he sure as hell wishes he can make things right with her. He knows he has a lot of time to make-up, but he just hopes its not too late.

Leigh and Mav were everything I needed. This wasn't just some "I'm sorry for leaving you and pretending I didn't feel what you felt for me. I'm back now, can we just move on?" HECK NO! This was hard-work, talking through everything, getting your hands dirty, digging and clawing through broken glass, accepting what wasn't and putting countless ghosts to bed. And after all that, that's when finally Leigh and Mav were able to breathe and move forward. I hurt with both of them and I shed some tears as well. But the most beautiful thing was how they both healed and were able to find solace in one another. Oh boy and the way they loved each other, these two gave me all the feels!

"When two people are meant for each other sometimes their souls make the moves their brains are too busy analyzing in order to allow to happen."

I know I sound like a broken record, but I! LOVED! THIS! BOOK! I seriously need to hike up my cowboy boots get my bum to Texas and lasso me a cowboy!

Harper, girl you wrote one helluva book. Thank you a million times for giving us Leighton and Maverick!!! I can't wait to read Quinn's book and I hope there's a Clay book in the works. *fingers crossed*

If second chance romance, a spunky firecracker heroine, a smokin' hot cowboy who uses the word darlin' (swoon), a vivacious best friend, and southern gentlemen is up your alley, then this book is for you. I'm telling you, you want to read this book. Strap on, you're in for one helluva ride.

Lost Rider by Harper Sloan (Amazon | B&N | Kobo) is a second chance story of two lost souls. Maverick is back in town after leaving without a backwards glance. He’s got amends to make and his family and friends are more than ready to welcome him back. Leighton is one piece of the puzzle that he needs to make his future work. Old hurts, misunderstandings and pride have made their past chaotic. It’s up to them to decide if their love is still there AND if it’s worth it. Swoonworthy cowboys and small town antics will keep you busy reading this story.

Harper Sloan can write alpha males, i know this from reading her other books, but hot cowboys with a heart buried deep, and a desire for the girl he left behind. Yep she can write those as well. I am a huge sucker for a second chance romance story, and this book had a brilliant one. Maverick and Leighton have a shall we say complicated past that the reader gets to see,and it makes you so want them to get together and the rials they face along the way in their second chance at happiness. Well worth a read, i know some people are wary about cowboy romances but this one will give you the good tingles
