My Good Morning is about a little girl who tries to be independent and get herself ready for school all by herself, but things don't go as smoothly as she imagines them to be. Funny and colorful illustrations follow her and her parents as they go along and clean up the aftermath of their independent child, so this will be a good laugh for parents as well.
NOTE: I received a free copy of this book NetGalley. I received no incentive to read or review this book other than said copy of work. The review below contains my own thoughts and opinions. Special thanks to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book.
Such a sweet story about a little girl getting ready for her day. She takes responsibility for herself and also knows when she might need help. Very adorable.
This was such a sweet book. I read it to my three year old and five year old. They both really enjoyed it! I would recommend it to people who have children who have not yet started school.
A rhyming story about how a little girl manages to get up and be ready for school every morning before her parents, without the benefit of coffee. Proves that you have to be born that way in order to be a morning person.
There’s a lot of cuteness here, from her mismatched socks to the artwork to the fact no big deal is made that this is a mixed-race family. The ending is particularly “Awwww!”
A funny picture book about a little girl’s morning routines. She’s up, ready to go, and can do every task herself without any help from her parents! Parents will laugh as they recognize themselves and their children in this story.
Liked: Cute main character and book. She is a rambunctious main character, has the diversity (parents are interracial couple is normalized), art
Disliked: It was very this event is happening then this event is happening (but it is for kids so yeah)
My Good Morning is a cute & bubbly story about a little girl that's determined to do everything for herself. As a mom, it took me back to the days when my now teenagers wanted to do everything for themselves. It also made me look forward to when one year-old gets to that stage - which he is entering now.
I highly recommend this book!
Callie's Kid Review: I would recommend it to my friends. The reading level was perfect. I thought the pictures were very, very colorful. I thought the story was great because it explains why her morning was good for her. I liked it when she was goofing off and she wasn't really sitting on the potty and also I thought it was hilarious when she didn't hang her coat and scarf up when she said she did.
My Mommy Review: MY GOOD MORNING by Kim Crockett Corson and Jelena Brezovec is an entertaining read capturing the growing independence of a child as they are getting ready for school in the morning. I loved the bright illustrations in this book. All the details on the pages offer a great opportunity for a parent to interact with a child while reading it. It's very relatable either through the routine itself or the parental reactions. I love that it's told from the girl's point of view where everything she's doing is perfect to her. The text of the story is very approachable for budding readers . My 3 year old son liked it because of the colors and how we talked about whether he could brush his teeth, go potty, and get dressed by himself like she does!
I received an ARC of this novel from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
Lovely book that is perfect for children and enjoyable for parents to read. Both groups will find fun and humor throughout this realistic description of a normal in any child-filled house. I especially appreciated the illustrations depicting a biracial family.
. Main character is confident and goes through a morning routine with her parents. Story would work for a lesson on point of view, also like the use of different fonts to highlight the child mood. Wonderful to see a multiracial family depicted in a story not about race or color.
My Good Morning is a fun book about a little girl waking up bright and early and getting ready for school, she wants to be independent and do everything for herself buy things don't always go to plan! I thought that the illustrations were lovely but for me it ended quite abruptly and I tried to turn over it seemed that sudden. Would be a good purchase for a child starting at school.
A funny picture book about the morning ritual of a little girl that can do everything by herself. Almost everything…
I think parents reading this book to their children will enjoy it as much as their child, grandparents even more. This story is about a little girl who wants to do it herself. As she gets up and gets ready for school, she does everything she needs to do without her parents help. The disaster she leaves in her wake is hilarious. As daddy drops her off to school, she vows that she will not cry today. This book is for every family that has a little one getting ready to go to school as well as for those that are becoming more independent or that parents want to become more independent. A very cute read with wonderful illustrations that tell another story that the one in words. The story is told in rhyme which will also appeal to little ones.
Beautifully and tenderly illustrated, here is a clever, sweet story in rhyme about a little girl's morning routine--from waking up and brushing her teeth to arriving at school. Five stars.
For any parent who has a spirited child who has their own style and timeline of doing things (especially on those rushed mornings), this book will be heartwarming and reassuring. It follows a little girl who pops up one morning ready to go! She recounts all of the things she does to get ready for the day, such as washing up, getting dressed, eating breakfast, and getting to her classroom. All pretty mundane things, but she turns them into an adventure, with her parents hanging on for the ride.
Like the story, the illustrations are bright and colorful. The contrast in the characters and items in the setting really POP! The illustrator does an amazing job of conveying emotion, whether excitement, anxiety, apprehension, or love, it's written all over the faces of this family. However, what pulled me into this book was the cover: it's not often that I see a little brown girl with a head full of flowing girls. It reminded me of what I looked like as a child, and is what I see when I look at my little girl. The parents in this book appear interracial, so I also appreciate that the book is reflecting a diverse family. In a world where the availability and quality of multicultural books leaves a lot to be desired, this one stands out to me. I have already recommended it to people I know.
A lovely catchy read that is entertaining for both little ones and adults alike.
My Good Morning minds me of the parents I speak to on daily basis when they are dropping off and collecting their child from my nursery. The children are always wanting to do everything independently but are not quite there yet and the parents are exasperated as they need to leave so they won't be late. I certainly had a chuckle when reading this book as I'm sure many other parents will too. The illustrations are perfect and the book is a great length for a short bedtime read. I would definitely consider buying this book for parents that are going through this familiar phase and I'm sure any child would also love the present too!
"I wake with my bed buddies. I had a good sleep. Mommy and Daddy did not hear a peep. It’s a new day and I’m ready to go! But Mommy and Daddy are so very slow"
Thus begins the story of a little girl raring to go....and her parents just wanting to go back to bed. Sound familiar? In my daughters words ( between giggles ) "Mommy has the lady that wrote this been to our house?". Well it certainly felt like it!
This is an absolute delight. It's pitched nicely between been nice for a parent to read aloud or for an early reader to read to themselves. It provoked quite a few rueful giggles and has had my daughters ultimate seal of approval - she wants to read it again tonight!
This sweet book highlights scenarios that are happening around the world. An adorable little girl bounds out of bed ready for her day:
"I wake up nice and early.
I had a good sleep.
Mommy and Daddy did not hear a peep.
It's a new day and I'm ready to go!
But Mommy and Daddy are so very slow."
Sound familiar to anyone?
Her sleepy parents corral her and see that she brushes her teeth, goes potty, gets wrestles into her clothes, sips some milk for breakfast and then it's off to school for her.
With a hug and a kiss from mom and a fast buckle into the car seat by dad, she struts into school like she is a big, independent girl with her head held high. She is ready to take on the challenges and fun wrapped up in her upcoming school day.
This book is written in rhyme and the illustrations are adorable. I love the diversity of children at the school and the strong family love that oozes through each and every page. Unconditional love reigns between each and every member. This is a perfect book to read and discuss with your little one as they start a new chapter of their life at school. I highly recommend it.
