Rabbit wants to fly, so he enlists Bird to help. Beautiful illustrations accompany a story about finding your own strengths and chasing your dreams (even if they are impossible).
Note: I received a free copy of this book from NetGalley. I was not compensated in any other fashion for the review and the opinions reflected below are entirely my own. Special thanks to the publisher and author for providing the copy.
I love reading books to my kids that they pay attention to and don't try to get up and leave half way through the book. This is one of the ones they sat through! We loved it.
The rabbit tries to fly and get the help of a bird. At last he accepts that he is not meant for flying and enjoys the sunset. Catchy illustrations
A rabbit sees a bird flying and wants to do that. When he asks for help, the bird pretty much screws with him until Rabbit figures out how to use his powerful legs in another way. At the end the bird is impressed by rabbit’s running ability, but goes home before he gets any crazy ideas.
The artwork is fine, but if there’s a point to this story, it eludes me. Perhaps be happy with what you have or who you are?
Rabbit wants to fly off into the sunset just like Bird. Even with Bird’s help though, Rabbit just can’t seem to fly. Makeshift wings and exercises to build up Rabbit’s muscles don’t even seem to work. Will Rabbit ever be able to fly?
The Only Way I Can is a cute story about appreciating our individual strengths.
Adorable and sweet story about accepting oneself. We really enjoyed reading this story about a bunny wanting to fly then learning to be himself.
Rabbit sees bird flying in the sky and decides he wants to fly too. Bird comes down and tries various things to help rabbit, but nothing works. What rabbit doesn't realize is that while he wants to fly like bird, bird wonders how he runs so fast. This book demonstrates that it is okay to dream, it is great to have friends that will help you try to achieve those dreams, but that it is important to recognize our own gifts and talents and to use them to achieve things. The watercolour illustrations in this book are gorgeous and the colours amazing. I enjoyed looking at them as much as reading the book. A great book for a classroom teaching about recognizing and accepting our gifts and talents.
A sweet engaging tale about a rabbit and a bird and their unique gifts for flying and running. Most of the text revolves around rabbit's earnest efforts to fly like a bird. However, strapping feathers on his little body, intense exercise, and wishful thinking are of no help. There a few lines of subtle humor that the Pre-K set will miss but that will cause adults to chuckle. Soft, appealing illustrations accompany the text. Five stars--a delightful addition to your child's library.
I thoroughly enjoyed this beautifully illustrated tale of a rabbit who longs to do what other animals do naturally. This would make an excellent storytime read as its subtle message about how we're all good at different things will shine through.
A very sweet story with magical illustrations. My daughter was entranced with the pictures.
Sweet story of a rabbit who wants to fly. Quick, easy, story of beginning readers. A little long maybe for really young kids, but maybe one on one. Illustrations are cute; the one of the rabbit with wings and feathers is pretty funny!
I received this ARC from Netgalley for an honest review.
Rabbit loves the sunset and wants to fly into it like bird does. He wants bird to help him fly. Together they workout to build strong muscles in hopes that it will help rabbit fly. Bird tells him to flap his wings like a hummingbird, but it's no use, rabbits aren't supposed to fly, they are supposed to run fast and hop into burrows. A story about friendship, encouragement and determination. I do love the illustrations, they were my favorite part of the book.
This charming book is about an adorable little rabbit who has a wish he holds deep inside of him, a wish he wants very much to come to fruition:
"Rabbit gazed up at the graceful bird.
"Yoo-hoo," he called. "How do you do that?"
"Do what?" asked Bird.
"Fly with such ease."
" I was meant to," he said. "I was born to soar the skies."
"I wish I could fly," said Rabbit.
"Really?" Where would you go if you could?".....
Thus begins a tale of how Bird coaches Rabbit hoping to help his little friend fulfill his dream of soaring through the skies just himself.
It is not an easy task to fly as Rabbit soon finds out. He flaps his arms, pumps his muscles, has a magical attachment made from Bird's own feathers fastened to him, does copious training exercises and runs with the wind, but alas, nothing gets him airborne. Why Rabbit's feet do not even budge off of the ground one tiny bit. Oh my, what is poor Rabbit to do?
After many failures Rabbit has a brilliant idea as to how he can once and for all fulfill his dream of flying high. He runs straight towards a cliff which makes Bird panic. Bird thought Rabbit was going to dive straight off and try and soar freely like an eagle. Is that Rabbit's plan do you think? Will he be silly enough to try such a dangerous stunt or does he have something completely different in mind.... something that will have him fulfill his dream and bring him the satisfaction of feeling the ultimate ... flying freely through the air? Bird, a loyal friend as always, hears Rabbit's plan and like bird's of a feather....they stick together to make Rabbit very, very happy bunny.
The illustrations are colourful, full of action and very expressive. It's a lovely book about helping each other, believing in each other and celebrating with each other unique qualities. I highly recommend this book with it's very positive message... never give up... and yes you can!
Ages 4 & up. Rabbit sees the birds flying above and wishes he could join them. He enlists Bird to help him fly, but things don't go so well. Rabbit finally accepts his abilities and works with what he has, which is when Bird begins to recognize Rabbit has his own unique talent. Rabbit may never be able to fly, but there are many other things he can do better than anyone else!
I loved the sense of humor--"hare-brained ideas" and "are you cuckoo?" The softly-colored illustrations are so soothing and the pictures of Rabbit training to fly are adorable. (Rabbit push-ups!) A beautifully-illustrated and funny story about learning to work within our own abilities.
A new treasure, certainly worth adding to your collection. This is a beautifully illustrated story about embracing what makes you, you!

When he sees Bird flying through the sky, Rabbit knows for sure: he wants to fly too! But no matter what Rabbit tries, his feet won’t leave the ground. Or is there another way?
A funny and inspiring book about discovering your strengths. For go-getters ages 4 and up.
This was a great little story about trying everything you can to achieve a goal - and then admitting your limitations.
Combined with some gorgeous illustrations and excellent text, this book would make a lovely gift for children with a sense of adventure!

This is a new children's story about learning to love what you have. It shows that everyone can be envious and show a bit of jealously as they can't do everything that some others can, but it shows how important it is to embrace what you have as there will be others who want what you have too. It is a positive book.
This was cute. A story about determination, and doing your best to achieve what you want. It's in a very similar vein to Harvey Hippo Wants to Fly! - an animal wants to fly, and what are we going to do to achieve it. But, never mind, there's plenty of books about the same thing.
The Only Way I Can is a new kids story about being envious, working together, being let down, and how to rise back up again. It was a breath of fresh air, reading this book. There was no malice or backstabbing. It was genuine desire to do something and having a friend help you through all the options. And when that didn't work out, dealing with it in a positive manner and working on developing personal strengths!
Great book for young kids!!
