With Sentinel, suspense, and steamy sex, this SOB novel delivers. Sentinel is broody, sweet and a complete jerk most of the time, but man does he heat up the pages with Ashley. She is nosy, wild and searching for herself; her character is refreshing and hot. The plot grabs you and takes you on a ride through a dangerous mystery, a sweet romance and a hot sex life. Great addition to the SOB series.
I am not a super fan of vigilantism, so these are not my all time favorite books. That said, though, they're absorbing reads and I enjoy them.
**I received a copy of Sentinel's Kiss from Net Galley in exchange for a voluntary and honest review**
Sentinel's Kiss by Jamie K Schmidt is the second book in her Sentinel's Of Babylon series. This boo0k is Josh (Sentinel) and Ashley Carver's story.
Ashley Carver comes from money but you wouldn't know it as even though she craves the thrill of adventure when she was a reporter going to the middle east. She now has a job with a television station that leads her to reconnect with Josh Lehman, her childhood friend as she digs into his sister's murder and several other women whose husbands are members of the Poconos Hunting club. This story could be hazardous to her health because the men who are club members don't want anyone discovering what the do on those "trips" and it's definitely not hunting. She also has a secret that has caused her to stay far away from babies because of the loss of her own. When she finds out what Josh does for the hospital his sister was a doctor at it will show her that he's absolutely worth losing her heart to him. It will take everything Josh has to keep her safe from someone who doesn't want her finding out the truth. But will she and Josh want to become more than a booty call?
Josh Lehman and his childhood friends have formed The Sentinel's of Babylon who do what the lawyers and judges cannot, punish those who hurt their families but get off scot-free with the help of the legal system. But when Ashley comes to him with information that would re-open his sister's unsolved murder case he will help her solve who killed her and the others. But can he convince her that he can become more to her than just a lover? Can he keep the secrets of his group and their mission to stop the murderers who don't go to prison? She's a very good reporter and it will be very hard to keep her in the dark. When push comes to shove he will do anything to show her that their love is everlasting.
I loved this book but would recommend reading the first book, Necessary Evil, prior to this one so that you know who and what the Sentinel's of Babylon are more than just a motorcycle club and bar owners. I'd give the book 4.8 stars and hope that maybe Ryder (the resident computer guru)is
I was really enjoying the story and where it seemed to be going and then I had the same problem that I had with the last one, events happened and they were rushed through without much detail. Sentinel, the founder of a group of vigilantes, who take orders from an unknown man, is looking to avenge his sister's murder. He becomes involved with Ashley, a reporter, which can be a very dangerous thing. Their relationship was very hot and heavy but didn't seem to revolve around much else, which is fine, but we were lead to believe it was more, we just didn't see it. The synopsis didn't seem to match real well with the story for me in that it created drama that didn't really seem to exist. Despite that, I liked the story and will look forward to the next one in the series.
As an Islander, I love that the story is set on Long Island.
Geez, is this a bar or a bordello?
This mercenary group is fantastic!
Oh no! Poor woman!
I'm guessing Ryder has personal experience with Beatrice's situation.
Sex is not a substitute for therapy.
"Medical services", my foot.
The hell?
He should have let the prostitutes live and go to jail.
Your girlfriend is investigating a crime you just committed. Isn't that weird?
. The idea that a group of men and women would seek justice for victims let down by our justice system is a compelling concept. I'm finding myself torn while reading between both sides. I think this second book warmed me up a little more. I loved Ashley. She's a strong gutsy woman with a tragic backstory. Josh too is motivated by his own past. It's his loss that makes me see the attractiveness of being part of the SOB. I'm looking forward to finding out about the judge and if he is good or bad.

Don't care. I'm bored and not connecting at all with the characters
I loved this book. I read it in on a rainy Saturday afternoon, I couldn't put it down. Such a great story. Ashley and Josh's chemistry was off the charts.
Ashley Carver, reporter, adrenaline-junkie, she loves do do anything to get her blood going-- well she did up until her Dad's heart attack. When she ends up reporting a segment to follow up a lead on the 2 year anniversary of the murder of the sister of Josh "Sentinel" Lehman, member of the SOB MC gang and Secret vigilante, Sarah--she crosses paths with Josh again. The last time she saw him was at Sarah's funeral. Now she has new information in the case, concerning his brother-in-law, Stan, who Josh is convinced beat and killed Sarah. Josh and Ashley have crazy chemistry between them. It's only a matter of time before they end up between the sheets. She knows that it won't last, but she will enjoy it while she can. She's had too much loss and devastation in her life not to have a little fun before she settles down like she promised her Dad.
Josh "Sentinel" Lehman, member of the SOB MC, secret vigilante to predators who've escaped the justice system on technicalities. When their boss the "Judge" calls them with their weekly assignments of said predators who escaped their punishments, the NOW three members, Evil only stays behind when it comes to killing anyone, he made a promise to his wife Lucy, that part of his life is now over.
Josh blames himself for Sarah's death, he should have done something sooner. He knew she was being physically abused by her Stan, yet Sarah wouldn't let Josh defend her because she was pregnant and wanted to keep her marriage intact. The siblings were raised in a household surrounded by domestic violence, alcoholism, and drug abuse. Josh was too young to defend his mother or protect himself, but he could have protected Sarah and the baby. His guilt is overwhelming to live with. He teams up with Ashley to not only keep her away from the SOB's activities, but to find out more about the ongoing murders that are copycat of Sarah's. The company doesn't hurt either. What he didn't expect was to want more than a booty call from the wild child, he wants it all. But Evil keeps telling him to "cut her loose," she's a reporter and if she finds out what he REALLY does...it won't be good.
I was on the edge of my seat. It's a definite must read!!
Excellent book!. Just enough mystery, suspense and hot, hot romance. I love Josh and Ashley together. Who would have ever thought that Josh would be a cuddler? That melted me into a puddle. I can't wait for the next book.
I have read other books in this series and felt this book had a rushed story line. There is too much emotional turmoil.
I have to say I wasn't positive I would like this one a WHOLE lot, but I ended up finishing it really quickly.
It has just the right amount of heartbreak, steamy scenes and a whole lot of mystery to keep you crazy intrigued and needing more. Josh is a bad boy vigilante and Ashley is a thrill seeking reporter. After a steamy night in the back of a jeep they haven't stopped thinking of each other. The anniversary of a death comes and they are thrown together again. It's fast paced and I wish there were more!
Sentinels kiss is the second book in the Sentinels of Babylon series, this time involving Josh, also known as Sentinel and Ashley a newspaper reporter.
The SOB's are a vigilante group who under orders off an unknown man known as 'the judge' use their own brand of punishment on people who have committed terrible crimes but have received no punishment through the law courts.
This time its personal, Josh's sister has been murdered, josh knows her husband killed her but the police say they have no proof. So starts his hunt for justice the SOB's way.
The relationship between josh and Ashley is hot and heavy, both have had great tragedies in their lives and live for the moment without any thought for the future.
This is a good entertaining read and as after reading the first book I look forward to reading more of this series.
Thanks to net galley and publisher for the opportunity to review this book.
This is a 3.5 book because I couldn't find the "connection" between Josh and Ashley outside of the sex they had. I loved the idea of it being a murder mystery within the story, but everything seemed to move so fast. I loved that Ashley and Ryder know each other and that they have a past together, I wish we would have gotten to see a bit more of that or them together. Maybe in Ryder's book it will go into that a bit more.
I got this book as an ARC for an honest review and I can honestly say I love the SOB's......I have my fingers crossed that we will be seeing more books about the bike club.......Josh and Ashley are hot......made for each other........they take down Josh's sisters killer and a human trafficking ring......Jamie Schmidt is a great writer!!!!!!!!
I was given an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest and independent review.
A raunchy romance with a hot alpha male who is part of a group of men who act as vigilantes, ridding the world of scum. He is trying to solve his sister's murder. The female lead is a news reporter involved in investigating the case. ( NO SPOILER ALERTS). Together they are explosive. With lots of steamy sex and some action this is an easy, "not to take too serious" type of book.
3.5 Stars
“Sentinel’s Kiss” brings the shady business of vigilante justice into the spotlight, combining it with an MC storyline—which I think is meant to give a harder, dirtier edge to the bad boys many readers love to see falling on their knees.
But it’s unfortunately not one for me, even though I liked the idea that vigilante justice spills way out of the legal boundaries and how it can be used as an excuse to fulfil personal vendettas that’s been kind of implied here, or in this case, fuel a man’s need for revenge. But while this isn’t quite heart-pounding action of black ops, I’d expected to see more cloak-and-dagger meetings with the mysterious boss who doles out their orders yet didn’t.
Above all, I couldn’t quite connect with Sentinel and Ashley, who seemed to be using each other for sex and as bandages for their own issues that have clearly been laid out in the story. There’re no shortage of sex scenes as a result, which simply seems to prove my point—but sex, obviously, never been a problem for either of them—but it didn’t change what I felt was a shallow relationship that didn’t go beyond both characters’ inability to function without their bits bumping and humping. In fact, their supposed important conversations couldn’t take place without it and the good sex also seemed to be a reason for why they should go beyond casual fuckmates…it’s what both Sentinel and Ashley fall back on, which makes me think this will function better as erotica than romantic suspense. The rushed ending felt instead, like a hurried need to give an unlikely couple a HEA but as someone who couldn’t really buy into the pairing, I found myself rather indifferent to it all.
Ashley is a reporter and a little wild. She lost her boyfriend and baby at 16. Two years ago she was doing a story about a woman who was pregnant and put in the trunk of her car and pushed in the lake. She interviews Sentinel, a Son of Babyalon, and the victims sister. He knows his brother in law killed her but can't prove it.
Now two years later, Ashley is getting tips about other murders just like Sentinel's sister Sarah. She goes to interview the ex and runs into Sentinel. He is a vigilante and is going to get justice for his sister one way or the other. Can he keep Ashley from finding out what he really does or will he lose the woman he has falling for?
Awesome story. Sexy bikers. Beautiful reporter. Some explicit sex. A book that will keep you engrossed till the very end. Be prepared for a cold shower and nail biting thrills.
This book was just as good as Necessary Evil, which I really enjoyed reading. Sometimes the second book can be a let down but not this one. It does not disappoint and is full of random sex places with some steamy scenes and complicated characters who love to push the limits. It was a wild read from that aspect, where did they not have sex at, because these two were always doing it. Some of the mystery element of who committed the murders at the hunt club was a bit confusing and really didn't find it interesting. The whole group of SOBs is very fun and interesting characters and what a wild ride this book took you on.
This series has been amazing reading. Josh seeking revenge for his sister's murder. And reuniting himself with Ashley, a nosy reporter. Can't wait for the next book.
