I started and stopped this book at least three times. It ended up in the DNF pile.

An arrogant boss and a sports writer agent. Ethan is a very hot, GQ type, use to getting his own way. Jenny is the spitfire that ignites him. A sweet read but I was expecting more.

Ethan and Jenny together are explosive..and I don't mean only the chemistry that is off the charts..but Jenny and Ethan's way of rile each other up and banter in the best way.
They are both head strong and can't back down from a challenge, and since the first meeting sparks fly.
He’s the boss but she is the one in charge and I loved it! She tells it like it is, and no matter that she needs the money, she has no fear whatsoever.
Ethan ha his way of working and living his life, until Jenny throws him a curveball and he can't get his bearings.
It was frustrating in the best way possible, with two steps back to one forward, but I loved how they put their all into the relationship.
I cried a little lol but I laughed too, and boy was it hot!
I am very very very excited for Jenny’s best friend and Ethan's best friend..can hardly wait!

Sports romances are hard to write for a sports enthusiast, but Howell did a great job. Jenny was just going to need a little persuading from Ethan to make this relationship work. How long can Jenny deny Ethan from what he wants?

I found this book enjoyable. I made me feel emotions (both laughter and tears) at different times. Jenny was a bit annoying at times. I did like their on/off and hot/cold moments though. Ethan is a manly man but Jenny gets the best of him at times. Being a baseball fan, I loved all those references. I would definitely buy another book if this were to continue.

Thanks Netgalley & Random House for allowing me to read this book!

Who wouldn't want to get bossed by Ethan, the hot AF owner of Mason and associates, a sports agency. Jenny, the new hire, that's who! I absolutely loved the interaction between the two of them.....Ethan who is all kinds of alpha male and Jenny, all kinds of sassy and snarky. What was very refreshing about this book was the fact that while Ethan was very alpha, he also had a very vulnerable side. I found this to be a very hot and enjoyable read, so go ahead, one-click and #getbossed

I am torn giving this review. On one hand, it was a quick, witty read, yet Ethan's hot and cold treatment of Jenny wasn't acceptable. But Jenny constantly forgave him. I personally would have walked away and been done if "my boyfriend" had ever treated me like he did her.

Before an interview for a new job, Jenny stops at a coffee stand for a fast cup only to be knocked down by a rude man on his cellphone. She immediately gets snippy when he ignores what he did to continue his phone conversation. At this point, she goes back and forth trading insults with the rude man. Five minutes later, she walks into the conference room for her interview facing the same obnoxious man.

Ethan runs his company with an iron fist. All of his employees are scared of him, they have reason to be. He insults and rips apart his employees when mistakes are made. When he sees Jenny walk into for her interview, he's intrigued. No one has stood up to him like she did, but he's torn about hiring someone who can be a distraction.

It's a clash of the wills with these two very similar yet opposite people.

This was a pretty good read. The story was sexy an fun. The banter between the characters was fun. Ethan gave the impression he was a hard nosed, cold hearted jerk. He really was a nice guy he just let people think he was cold. His employees were half afraid of him. when he meets jenny, He is rude and obnoxious. Imagine her consternation when the jerk she meets turns out to be the owner of the company she is applying to. After meeting and hiring jenny, Ethan turned into a little bit of a wuss. All his insecurities jumped out. Thank God for his best friend or he would still be spinning his wheels. As a matter of fact, both best friends were great. Jenny was a strong character for most of the book. She had a lot to deal with and handled her things pretty well. She did not let Ethan get away with anything. She had him running in circles. It was more like Ethan got bossed. Overall I liked the book

The beginning of this book sucked me right in. I love office romance books! The instant attraction for both characters was fun, then the instant dislike and big ego’s getting in the way was even funnier. I loved the banter and loved the baseball/sports aspect of the story. This is definitely a contemporary romance with several explicit, very graphic sex scenes. I liked the story and all of the characters; the two main characters were flawed and imperfect, with similar circumstances. The secondary characters were fun and interesting and brightened the story. Ethan a tough, hot, alpha male, with a deep hidden personal past tucked away deep inside that he never lets anyone see. Jenny’s story was heartbreaking, I really liked her but found her so frustrating at the end of the book. A lot of frustrating moments brought on by the two main characters. I found this very frustrating as a reader too.
I enjoyed this book. It was a light summer romance read. If you enjoy contemporary romance with really steamy and explicit scenes, I recommend this book. This is a standalone book, and my first book by the author. I look forward to reading more from Sloane Howell.

Bossed by Sloane Howell was an entertaining and quick read. I enjoyed Jenny's character quite a bit. She's quick and witty. She loves her family. She's funny. She knows how to put Ethan in his place and isn't afraid to. I loved those parts. Ethan, on the other hand, had a personality that contradicted itself. He comes off all Alpha jerk. He yells at people. They fear him. His business is the most important thing in his life, yada yada yada. Yet he stays home and hides/pouts when Jenny's mad at him or hurts his feelings. What? That doesn't make sense. He was so worried about making the same mistakes as his father, but it seemed like we would easily allow those very same things to happen if Jenny was anything like his mother. So, his character disappointed me a little. With all that being said, the story was pretty good. I'm not a sports girl, but it even made baseball seem cute. I really liked Matt, and I hope he gets his own story.. maybe with Kelsey? That would be a fun story too.

Life will always throw you curves, just keep fouling them off. The right pitch will come, but when it does, be prepared to run the bases. ~Rick Maksian

When your heart is still racing and your pulse is pounding after you finished a book, it’s the highest of highs…the best feeling ever!!! When an author bats a book out of the park, you CHEER loudly and proudly!!! Sloane Howell has upped the ante, and brought his A-Game out to play in Bossed, his BEST BOOK YET!!! Fire-hot and feisty, Bossed blazes with a lethal dose of heat and heart, hitting one hell of a home run!

As if I were at a baseball game, Bossed CAPTIVATED and CLAIMED me from the start. This story stirred up a desire—a hunger for more—that surged through me as I raced through the pages like a fastball. I was CONSUMED as Bossed became my breath, making me breathless. The brilliant banter in Bossed, a fusion of heat and hate, was both my adrenaline and amusement, and I could not get enough of this feisty hero and heroine.

“What’s wrong? You can dish it out but can’t take it?”

“Oh, I can take it. I just prefer an entrée. Not an appetizer.” I shot a glance to his crotch.

“I can assure you, there’s plenty to eat down there. And it looks like you’ve been starving yourself for a while.”

I could not stop laughing at these lines that were the best fusion of laugher, loathing, and lust! My heart beat out of my chest as the banter took control of every part of me! Utterly BRILLIANT!

If beautiful Jenny Jackson had known that Ethan Mason was so arrogant and annoying, she would have reconsidered working at his company. If only her new boss wasn’t so hot and hard-headed. If only her new boss did not throw banter like baseballs, hurling balls of fire at her for her to throw right back at him. If only she wasn’t so attracted to Mr. Power Prick. If only she didn’t fantasize about his pr--…

Ethan Mason didn’t want to hire the sexy spitfire, this hot librarian-like woman, but Jenny Jackson calls to him from her smarts to her sex appeal in spades. He doesn’t want to want his employee, but can’t help the raging desire that burns when Jenny plays this cat-and-mouse game as well or even better than him.

“You’re playing a dangerous game, Miss Jackson.”

Those words, filled with passion and power, infiltrated me where I tried to catch my breath as my pulse pounded like a drum, anticipating what would happen next.

Temptation is tough to ignore as there is a fine line between love and hate, and Ethan and Jenny are towing that line…

His mouth was on mine and my hands were pinned above my head. I moaned into his mouth and he swallowed it whole, along with my kiss. His chest slammed into mine and I couldn’t breathe, couldn’t see anything, vision blurry.

Now THAT is a kiss, the kind that is a full-body, passion-permeating, intense, and intoxicating KISS!!! Ethan and Jenny have a fierce connection—body to mind—with combustible chemistry. Together, they are fireworks ready to explode!!!

This game is not over until lines are crossed from forbidden to more. Forbidden fruit has never tasted so sweet. Will the boss and employee risk getting burned? Will this game end in a shut-out where only one player comes out on top?

Smoldering, sweet, and swimming with sexual tension, Bossed is ROMANCE BLISS! The heated banter bled angst and amusement, an adrenaline-filled high. My heart raced, fueled by forbidden love and feels. I did not expect the tears that fell from my face, emotions entangling around me like a baseball glove, waiting to catch me as I fell. Intense and incredible, this blazing hot baseball-meets-office romance INTOXICATED ME where I felt a FURIOUS RUSH!!! Bossed is ELECTRIC, a story that sparks with heat and heart from start to finish!

Bossed OWNED every ounce of ME!!! Bossed owned me LIKE A BOSS! I LOVED every enticing minute! Sloane Howell batted Bossed out of the park in a book that BLEW ME AWAY!!! I can’t wait to see what curveball Sloane Howell throws at readers next!

"When I look at you, I can't stop."

"Bossed" is my first Sloane Howell book so I really didn't know what to expect. The attraction between the hero and heroine is instant and very hot. I have to admit that Jenny isn't really the kind of heroine that I like. Don't get me wrong, I like a heroine who can hold her own and isn't afraid to speak her mind or go after what she wants. But Jenny is more than a little opinionated and too confrontational. I felt that sometimes she just wanted to be confrontational for the sake of being confrontational instead of just standing up for what she believes.

Jenny Jackson desperately needs this new job. With her father's medical bills pilling up she needs the extra pay that this job offers. However, she is already late for her interview when she runs into a man in front of a coffee cart. He is unlike anyone she has ever seen, at least in real life. However, the magic disappears when he opens his mouth and starts making sexual comments and innuendos. Ok, maybe she is more than a little turned on by his words, but she has never been one to let anyone get away with having the upper hand. She is more than a little shocked when she walks into her interview to meet her new boss ;)

Ethan Mason is the best at what he does. He has built his sports agency from the ground up and isn't willing to allow anyone or anything to get in the way. No distractions allowed. That is until the feisty new accountant walks in for her interview. No matter how hard he tries, he just can't seem to keep his mouth shut around her or his eyes off her. And there are just somethings that defy logic and attraction of this magnitude is one of those things!

I must say that while reading this I was impressed by the sheer knowledge of baseball that the author seemed to possess. Apparently Sloane Howell used to play baseball so that explains that. I also found the two female characters to act, like Jenny's father describes them at one point, like frat boys. I don'r expect all romance heroines to be pure and fragile and polite at all costs. However, I found Jenny to be a little too crass. Having said that, I absolutely loved Ethan and his dirty mouth ;) hope that we'll get to see Matt and Kelsey together!

First of all I love Jenny & Ethan's meet cute!
The interactions between Ethan & Jenny were seriously amazing!!! I adored Jenny's spunkiness and her smart mouth! I loved watching Ethan's transformation.

I enjoyed the secondary characters Matt & Kelsey! I would love if they got their own book!

Sloane has a way with words is an understatement! From the first page, I was hooked and couldn't wait to get more of Ethan & Jenny.

I absolutely love books that are filled to the brim with snark and witty banter. These are the rom-coms and romances that just get me grinning the widest and keep me that way for days. And Sloane Howell is one of the kings at this. So I knew I was in for a treat with Bossed. But I was not expecting the level of pure brilliance that went into the snarky dialogue in this book. I was laughing so hard my sides hurt and then Howell went and pulled the rug out from under me! The man got me to tear up. It’s not often that you go from one emotional high to the other with such a smooth transition but he definitely pulled it off.

Jenny Jackson is feisty, snarky and the queen of sarcasm. She’s got a lot on her plate and doesn’t need a prick of a boss messing with her life. Ethan Mason is controlled, successful and a massive prick to anyone who doesn’t know him well. The last thing he needs is temptation to be sitting in the cubicles outside of his office. The chemistry between the two of them is combustible. I swear at times my kindle was burning hot. I loved the back and forth between them. Both of them have decently developed backstories which lead to them being guarded. And they each have well-developed personalities with weaknesses and strengths. I do have to admit that Jenny’s tendencies to jump on Ethan’s case with blame did get a little annoying. It was definitely a case of if you go looking for flaws; you’re going to find them. But Howell was good at balancing things out; there were times I wanted to shake Jenny and times I wanted to shake Ethan.

Overall, a really great read. Something fun to kick back and relax with that isn’t overly angst-filled that’ll give you some laughs. It’s definitely going on my re-read list and I can’t wait for book two to come out.
