What happens when you need a job you'd be good at but you need to impress the a-hole boss? I would best describe Ethan and Jenny's relationship like a good fire but then throw in some gasoline. Boom! But they just can't get things right. The supporting characters were just as funny and as quirky as Ethan and Jenny trading barbs. This was just what I needed to pull me out of a major book hangover. A quick easy read with laughter and feels.

Bossed by Sloane Howell.......5 Fun Bossed Stars!! Wow, A hot fun story, that you can't put down. I enjoyed this employee and employer romance story with all the bantering, it always makes for a good read. I loved watching the story unfold for Ethan and Jenny. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book from publisher via NetGalley.

Ethan is all about his business, until he bumps into Jenny and that's when things get interesting. Jenny ends up working for Ethan. Ethan can't get Jenny out of his head he doesn't even know her but she changes him just by one look. Will they both be able to pull down there stubbornness and actually be a couple? Will Ethan give up his life all about business for Jenny? Will Jenny be able to trust Ethan? Back and fourth hate, love romance that will have you wondering what's gonna happen next. 4/5 stars ****Reviewed for Sweet & Spicy Read provided for a voluntarily Advanced Reader Copy of this book ****

A really good easy read that held my attention the whole way through.

This was a great story! So many facets - at times a funny romantic comedy, at other times poignant and sad. But it was also very hot - chemistry off the charts - at times, too!
This is my first book by Sloane Howell and I enjoyed his sense of humor. Some scenes were funny because they were so unrealistic in real life but something we would love to have the nerve to do. Show some attitude in a job interview (for a job you really need) when the interviewer (who you know is the boss) is trying to intimidate you and in fact, you show him up, getting the last word in? Demand the boss apologize to an employee who he has berated in front of coworkers? We've all been in situations where we'd like to tell our boss how we really feel - but Jenny actually does it! And it's funny!
Watching the dynamics between Evan and Jenny is entertaining!
The interactions between Jenny and her best friend Kelsey, and Ethan and his best friend Matt bring additional depth to the story.
Matt is absolutely hilarious! He's known Ethan since before he became a big agent and sees behind the pompous attitude Ethan projects to others and calls him on it! More importantly, Matt makes Ethan face up to his past which has so much control over his current behavior.
Kelsey has known Jenny for years and is very involved in Jenny's family. She provides (for the most part) so much support for Jenny. And the way they act together is just the way two long time close friends would be. Sometimes supportive and sometimes tough love. Some very funny moments here, too.
I would definitely recommend this book! I'm really hoping Kelsey and Matt get a story, too!

This was my first Sloane Howell book and I have to say...I was impressed. I really liked this one. The characters were engaging and likable, the story was surprising and multifaceted with interesting supporting characters that added greatly to the overall story. The romance was romantic, the sex was HOT, the relationships were believable and the humor was actually really funny. There were a few things I would have liked to see playout a little differently, but overall I enjoyed the story. This book has me checking out my next Sloane Howell read.

Bossed is a scorcher of a romance that takes you on a ride of ups and downs, with laughs and tears along the way.
On the outside Ethan is gruff, take charge, & sure of himself, but he is hiding insecurities and how much his life has been affected by his parents bad decisions.
“You think I don’t want to let my guard down with Jenny? Of course I do. But people let you down, bro. And it leaves some nasty f'n scars when they do.”
Jenny is desperate to have a well paying job to keep up with the medical bills for her dad. When she lands a job working for the extremely handsome, but completely insufferable Ethan, they clash from day one.
“Whatever.” I shoved her and laughed. “I can’t scr*w this up. The salary is almost double what I made before. I just need to keep my head down, steer clear of Mr. Hot C*cky *ss hole and do my work.”
Bossed is loaded with funny lines and banter, but don't let that fool you. It packs quite an emotional punch with an engaging storyline and enough twists to keep you turning pages.

From the first page through the scene when Jenny schools Ethan on baseball stats in her job interview, it's pretty funny, and I had high hopes for a good romantic comedy (of which there are too few).. But that isn't what this is. Although there are a few mildly funny scenes, the promised banter isn't there after the first few chapters. This is a typical contemporary romance, and that was a bit of a letdown. Still, it was well written, with natural dialogue and it featured well developed characters and fleshed out back stories. So, all in all, not bad, although nothing really new.
Also, what's with the trend of the heroine always folding like a wet pillowcase the minute the hero gets her alone? Jenny, a supposedly strong character, gave in to Ethan the minute they were alone for the first time (in the back of a car), exhibiting zero willpower. Writing female characters as if we're physically incapable of controlling ourselves for five seconds around a good looking male - and yet calling them strong - is insulting, not romantic. Try Shaye Marlow, she writes female MCs who actually ARE strong.

This is my first book to have read by Sloane Howell and I wasn't disappointed, his style of writing and his sense of humor totally had me in stitches throughout this book. His characters are so very easy to connect with and so I warmed to them right from the start.
Ethan Mason is the hot as hell, hardass owner of a sports agency that Jenny Jackson goes for a job at, he is a total douche to her and all his employees but you just cant help yourself for loving his character as you just know that beneath the surface there is a different man hiding behind his stern and stubborn exterior.
Jenny Jackson is a woman who is desperate to find and hold down a job to pay for the medical bills that are piling up because her father is sick, but that doesn't stop her from being a badass and a smart mouth that loves putting Ethan in his place. She stands up for what she feels is right no matter the consequences that she may face and I loved her character all the more for it.
I really liked Matt, Ethan's long time friend and Jenny's friend Kelsey who are both just secondary characters but they play an important part in the story as they give a lot of help and advice along the way to both Ethan and Jenny that adds to the craziness that goes on between them.
Ethan and Jenny's story is an epic whirlwind of snarky banter and baseball statistics, it has some heart wrenching and tender moments that will make you go through a thousand different emotions with some happy and some sad. You wont be able to put this book down once you get tangled in this story of love and loss and learning to trust again.
This was a truly enjoyable read and it deserves everyone one of the 5 Stars!

Male authors that write a great romance are few and far between but as usual Sloane Howell hits one out of the park.
Jenny is smart and sassy and knows more about baseball than just about any man alive - Ethan is a no nonsense, no fun Boss who runs a sports management agency.
Their 1st accidental meeting is a disaster and things go down hill from there - but for reasons neither of them can quite understand Jenny finds herself working in Ethan's agency.
I loved this book. It was wonderful to have a strong female character who enjoys and understands sports. It was also great to read a story with two strong leads...it is all too common these days for one partner to totally eclipse the other's personality.
I read this book in one sitting because I couldn't stop. I cannot wait for the follow up.

I love everything that this author comes up with and BOSSED was no exception! Although it covered some elements that could be considered deep, such as abandonment, I'd still classify it as a light romantic read. Both Ethan and Jenny suffered similar issues, which caused them to erect walls of steel to protect themselves. It was fun to watch the both of them persist in trying to drill holes.
The chemistry between Ethan and Jenny was sexy AF, the banter was entertaining if a bit antagonistic, and the plot was fluid and easy to enjoy. If I were to change one thing about this story, it would be make Jenny a little less confrontational and aggressive. I'd probably have enjoyed the story more if I had received less of her POV. I admired her strength, but I cringed a bit with the way she chose to exhibit it at times. And there were one too many occasions in which Ethan came off as too soft, in my opinion, in order to appease her.
Regardless, I enjoyed Ethan and Jenny's story and I'm excited to read the next book, Scored (hit that link and add it!!) and I hope it's about Matt and Kelsey!! *wink*

Sometimes a person needs a good, suck-you-in romance with plenty of grins. Bossed filled that bill for me. It's well-written and often hilarious. Ethan is definitely an alpha male, but he meets his match in Jenny. I love that she had no problem putting him in his place, regardless of location or circumstance. Their witty banter kept me smiling throughout this tale. Howell's characters are so rich and just fun to read. There were some things about the story that were way over the top and both Ethan and Jenny's reactions at times were so childish at times that I wanted to shake them until their teeth rattled. But, I think that was the point and overall, it all worked together to make a fun read.

This is my first book by Sloane Howell. I really loved Jenny's sassy attitude and that she wasn't a delicate flower. I did not like how she would sometimes fly off the handle but considering her home situation I kind of get it. Ethan was afraid of getting hurt so he put up walls and didn't let people in. These two are feisty and fight a lot, but make up VERY nicely. Lots of heat! I enjoyed their story and I would read more from this author in the future for sure. There were some secondary characters I think I would also enjoy reading a book about hint hint. I received an arc of this.

I thought this was an absolute fantastic read! I couldn't put it down. This is the first book I have read by Sloane Howell and absolutely loved it! It was hot, steamy, funny & angsty. It hit all the feelers and leaves you wanting more in a good way! I love the chemistry between Ethan and Jenny. Their banter is off the charts. I love how Jenny doesn't put up with Ethan's bs and put him in his place. Jenny is just the right "challenge" for Ethan. They are a perfect mix /match together. I will be reading more of Sloane Howell books because of this book! Great job done and a must 1-click read!

I love discovering new authors/new to me authors whose books I really end up loving. So when I saw that Bossed by Sloane Howell was up for grabs I decided to take a chance on it. It looked like a classic office romance with a love hate relationship thrown in. It is a cliche but it works for some reason. Unfortunately, I didn't love this book. I felt that it was very average for me.
Let's start with Jenny. Jenny is on the lookout for a new job. When she meets her potential boss things get out of hand and she is pissed with his high handedness. But Jenny needs the money to take care of her ailing father. I found that Jenny fluctuated a lot. She was a total spit fire and a bitch with Ethan when they were in front of an audience but then she suddenly became a vulnerable girl when she was alone with him. I didn't get this as it was too extreme.
Then we have Ethan. Ethan is one of the top agents in the business and he didn't get there by playing nice. When Jenny walks into Ethan's office with her fuck you attitude Ethan can't help but admire her. She stands up to him and is certainly not scared of him. I didn't like Ethan very much either. I understood that he had had a childhood trauma and he was scared of relationships but one too many times he just acted like a child.
Jenny and Ethan's relationship was a roller coaster ride. They were almost always arguing and yes, I admit that there was tension between them but sometimes it ran too hot and cold. I didn't understand that and because of that I couldn't relate to any of the characters.
I liked Jenny's best friend. She was super helpful and encouraging. I think I actually liked her better than Jenny herself. Jenny's father was a good guy and I really loved Matt, Ethan's best friend. Matt was always there to pull Ethan's head out of his ass. I'm hoping he gets a book because he deserves it. Bossed was an okay read for me.

Totally Loved this one ❤️❤️❤️
Pulled you right in with all the sarcastic banter in Chapter 1 all the way through to the amazing heartmelting ending.
My favorite character was Jenny. She is very sarcastic and quick witted especially when it comes to Ethan. He just totally rubbed her the wrong way at first. And I loved how she didn't take any shit. She gave as much as she got.
Can't wait for her next book to come out. I'm definitely adding Sloane Howell to my fav authors.
Thanks NetGalley for the arc in exchange for my honest review.

This was only the 2nd book by Sloane Howell that I have read and I quite enjoyed it. I was laughing from the 2nd page and loved Jenny's sassy, take no crap from anyone attitude. Ethan isn't your typical alpha male from the books I have read in the past and I really enjoyed that aspect. I loved the back and forth between Jenny and Ethan that made me laugh, I hated that they were both so stubborn I wanted to scream and hurl my kindle at something, but I loved that Sloane's writing could bring out those emotions in me. Can't wait to read more of Sloane's books in the future.

This was my first book by Sloane Howell and I was impressed. This story was a fun, laugh-out-loud, really enjoyable read, along with a little sexy and sad times.
Jenny Jackson is on her way to a job interview with a sports agent company, Mason and Associates. While walking on the sidewalk in a large, Texas city, Jenny accidentally bumps into this gorgeous guy wearing a suit and tie who looks like he should be on the cover of GQ. Jenny starts apologizing when the suit gets all cocky and arrogant. Well Jenny was never one to slink back quietly and gets all up in this guys face and lets him have it good. He may be cute and sexy but he's still a prick!
Jenny barely makes it to her interview on time and guess who is the owner of Mason and Associates???? Yep, the cocky prick who she ran into, Ethan Mason! Jenny realizes she probably won't be getting this job but sits down at the conference table with all the other guys. Right away Ethan starts in on Jenny and of course Jenny can't help it, she throws it right back! Ethan starts treating Jenny like she doesn't know a thing about baseball, which of course she does, and even starts spewing statistics. Of course what Ethan says is wrong and Jenny gets up to leave, very irritated at Ethan and then corrects him on his statistic. Now Jenny has really peaked his interest. No female has done that in a very long time. Jenny ends up getting the job and then the real fun begins.
I just loved these two together. There is nothing better than a feisty female putting a male in his place. I'd say Jenny gave it back better than she got it! I really enjoyed the journey these two went on to get to their happy ending. They both were raised by a single father which greatly shaped how they handled things in their lives. I liked the secondary story about Jenny's dad and especially her friend Kelsey. Overall this was a fun, sexy read.
