I thought this was an absolute fantastic read! I couldn't put it down. This is the first book I have read by Sloane Howell and absolutely loved it! It was hot, steamy, funny & angsty. It hit all the feelers and leaves you wanting more in a good way! I love the chemistry between Ethan and Jenny. Their banter is off the charts. I love how Jenny doesn't put up with Ethan's bs and put him in his place. Jenny is just the right "challenge" for Ethan. They are a perfect mix /match together. I will be reading more of Sloane Howell books because of this book! Great job done and a must 1-click read!

I love discovering new authors/new to me authors whose books I really end up loving. So when I saw that Bossed by Sloane Howell was up for grabs I decided to take a chance on it. It looked like a classic office romance with a love hate relationship thrown in. It is a cliche but it works for some reason. Unfortunately, I didn't love this book. I felt that it was very average for me.

Let's start with Jenny. Jenny is on the lookout for a new job. When she meets her potential boss things get out of hand and she is pissed with his high handedness. But Jenny needs the money to take care of her ailing father. I found that Jenny fluctuated a lot. She was a total spit fire and a bitch with Ethan when they were in front of an audience but then she suddenly became a vulnerable girl when she was alone with him. I didn't get this as it was too extreme.

Then we have Ethan. Ethan is one of the top agents in the business and he didn't get there by playing nice. When Jenny walks into Ethan's office with her fuck you attitude Ethan can't help but admire her. She stands up to him and is certainly not scared of him. I didn't like Ethan very much either. I understood that he had had a childhood trauma and he was scared of relationships but one too many times he just acted like a child.

Jenny and Ethan's relationship was a roller coaster ride. They were almost always arguing and yes, I admit that there was tension between them but sometimes it ran too hot and cold. I didn't understand that and because of that I couldn't relate to any of the characters.

I liked Jenny's best friend. She was super helpful and encouraging. I think I actually liked her better than Jenny herself. Jenny's father was a good guy and I really loved Matt, Ethan's best friend. Matt was always there to pull Ethan's head out of his ass. I'm hoping he gets a book because he deserves it. Bossed was an okay read for me.

Totally Loved this one ❤️❤️❤️
Pulled you right in with all the sarcastic banter in Chapter 1 all the way through to the amazing heartmelting ending.
My favorite character was Jenny. She is very sarcastic and quick witted especially when it comes to Ethan. He just totally rubbed her the wrong way at first. And I loved how she didn't take any shit. She gave as much as she got.
Can't wait for her next book to come out. I'm definitely adding Sloane Howell to my fav authors.
Thanks NetGalley for the arc in exchange for my honest review.

This was only the 2nd book by Sloane Howell that I have read and I quite enjoyed it. I was laughing from the 2nd page and loved Jenny's sassy, take no crap from anyone attitude. Ethan isn't your typical alpha male from the books I have read in the past and I really enjoyed that aspect. I loved the back and forth between Jenny and Ethan that made me laugh, I hated that they were both so stubborn I wanted to scream and hurl my kindle at something, but I loved that Sloane's writing could bring out those emotions in me. Can't wait to read more of Sloane's books in the future.

This was my first book by Sloane Howell and I was impressed. This story was a fun, laugh-out-loud, really enjoyable read, along with a little sexy and sad times.

Jenny Jackson is on her way to a job interview with a sports agent company, Mason and Associates. While walking on the sidewalk in a large, Texas city, Jenny accidentally bumps into this gorgeous guy wearing a suit and tie who looks like he should be on the cover of GQ. Jenny starts apologizing when the suit gets all cocky and arrogant. Well Jenny was never one to slink back quietly and gets all up in this guys face and lets him have it good. He may be cute and sexy but he's still a prick!

Jenny barely makes it to her interview on time and guess who is the owner of Mason and Associates???? Yep, the cocky prick who she ran into, Ethan Mason! Jenny realizes she probably won't be getting this job but sits down at the conference table with all the other guys. Right away Ethan starts in on Jenny and of course Jenny can't help it, she throws it right back! Ethan starts treating Jenny like she doesn't know a thing about baseball, which of course she does, and even starts spewing statistics. Of course what Ethan says is wrong and Jenny gets up to leave, very irritated at Ethan and then corrects him on his statistic. Now Jenny has really peaked his interest. No female has done that in a very long time. Jenny ends up getting the job and then the real fun begins.

I just loved these two together. There is nothing better than a feisty female putting a male in his place. I'd say Jenny gave it back better than she got it! I really enjoyed the journey these two went on to get to their happy ending. They both were raised by a single father which greatly shaped how they handled things in their lives. I liked the secondary story about Jenny's dad and especially her friend Kelsey. Overall this was a fun, sexy read.

This is hands down one of the best office romance stories I've ever had the pleasure of reading and I loved every second of reading this!

I loved Jenny and Ethan and the immediate connection between these two from the moment they first met was off the charts intense and smoking hot! Speaking of intense, I really liked the fact that there were a few obstacles thrown in the mix to keep things more interesting up until the very end.

I couldn't get enough of Matt and sincerely hope to see much more of him in the future. I can already tell that his story is going to be a great one! This is the first book that I've read by this author and it definitely won't be the last. I highly recommend reading this great story to anyone.

This was an awesome contemporary billionaire, baseball romance. Ethan is a sports agent and deals primarily with baseball players. He works hard and accepts nothing less than perfection from his staff. Jenny is desperate for a better paying position so she applies at Mason. She was raised by her father who taught her to stand up for herself. She and Ethan clash all the time yet there is an underlying chemistry between them. She is struggling with personal issues and he is haunted by his past. I look forward to reading future books by this author. I received a complementary copy of this book via Netgalley and chose to write a review.

This book brightened up a viral flu ridden day!

Bossed takes us into the world of Sport’s Management, where Ethan Mason rules his empire with high expectations, bad manners and a seriously bad attitude which is only made worse after he meets the fabulous baseball, math whiz Jenny Jackson.

Jenny Jackson is a heroine who kicks ass and takes names! However, Jenny needs a job to help pay her father’s medical bills. Needing a job is a necessary evil although it becomes obvious, very quickly, that she can do the job with one hand tied behind her back.

The attraction between Ethan and Jenny quickly develops and there are a few meetings of a much more personal nature in the office.

Ethan’s normally rude and impatient manner starts to change and is noticed by other employees, leading to some speculation about this change.

Jenny changes too and as her feelings for Ethan become more complex, she becomes a bit less sarcastic but there continue to be times when she swings that bat and hits a homerun leaving others in her wake.

As one might expect, there are some misunderstandings and hurt feelings but I was not unhappy with how these characters got their happily-ever-after.

Undoubtedly Sloan Howell’s best work to date!

My first from this author and to be honest, I'm not sure I would continue. Bossed started off on the right foot, with Jenny accidentally colliding with one sexy beast in Ethan, who would soon be her employer. Their banter was on point and wow did Jenny hold her own against the formidable boss. However, their insta-love was a bit too cheesy for me. I felt as if they fell for one another way too quickly and all of Jenny's fears about co-workers figuring out what was going on, didn't even exist. Which made zero sense since they spent so much time out of the office.

In addition, Jenny's issues with her Dad seemed to take a backseat more often than not when she was with Ethan. I would have liked her checking in with him or even Kelsey when she'd be out with Ethan for hours and hours at a time but that just wasn't happening. Considering her reasons for putting up with the hard-nosed boss that was Ethan and why she took the job, you'd think she would have checked in more often. It just really bugged me. It often felt as if the author just wanted to get to the end and not bother with details. A definite turn-off for me.

Overall it could have been a better read for me but I felt so much was missing wrt this forbidden romance. It had potential but I found myself skimming a ton and that's never a good sign.

Oh well you can't love them all I suppose.

2.5 stars.

I DNF'd this book at 15%. The characters and dialogue just came across as really juevenile and unrealistic for an office environment. I even tried skimming the book to see if maybe things got better later. They did not. I can't say that I won't ever read anything from this author again but this one just didn't work for me

Jenny Jackson has an interview for a job she desperately needs to get, but when she walks into the room, she finds more than what she bargains for in the person of a guy she had a verbal exchange on the street.
Ethan Mason knows he can use the girl’s skills for his company, but he knows the smart mouth, conservative dressed woman might be a challenge to his unwavering focus.
This was a book I wanted to love and it started with the perfect amount of fun and sexy, but I felt it lost it down the line. The relationship developed way too fast for my taste and though I enjoyed the characters at the beginning, their interactions and the way she didn’t let things slide just because he was the boss, it rapidly turned into her being a brat rather than an assertive woman capable of standing up for herself.
I liked the characters of Kelsey and Matt and, though Ethan appears to be a massive jerk earlier in the book, you learn about his motivations and I found his character to be the one I ended up liking best.
Overall, the book is a decent read, but didn’t meet my expectations. Still there are some fun moments and the sex scenes are quite steamy. If nothing else, Jenny and Ethan had an amazing chemistry that one can easily enjoy.

Very charming story filled with plenty of humor. Loved the chemistry between Jenny and Ethan, sparks as soon as they met. Jenny's sass makes the story fun! Great story!

This was a quirky, fun, fast read that involved employee/employer and lots of hot, HOT and dirty sexy times. There was a lot of snark and crazy angst to get through but what is left is worth it. Jenny and Ethan are definitely made for each other. The secondary characters are interesting and keep the story going.

I recommend this one for a quick and fun read.

This is the first book I have read by Sloane Howell, and I enjoyed it. His writing is strong, the characters and the dialog seem realistic and I was involved with both of them from almost the beginning. That said, I wasn't sure what I thought of their initial meeting, but once I got farther into the story, it absolutely did work.

Jenny and Ethan were interesting. I liked their dynamic and I liked the passion that they both had, for one another, for the people in their lives, and for one another...the turn of this from adversaries to a couple was compelling.

The subplot with her father was interesting, and I thought a little heavy for the story as the relationship between Ethan and Jenny maintained a bit of a hard edge. The 2 stories combined, in my opinion, drew away from the romance of the story.

I thought the ending was a little odd, as the focus was drawn away from the relationship with Ethan and Jenny.

That said, I liked it overall. The writing was strong. I liked the characters and while it did seem a little heavy, the story itself was interesting. I thought there were small issues with the pacing as mentioned above, but I did enjoy the story overall.

I recommend this book.

Who's the Boss?
Bossed - Sloane Howell

BOSSED had so many of the best things I love in romantic comedy: excellent chemistry between the main characters, laugh out loud banter, smoking hot sex, and situations that leave me smirking long after I'm finished reading.

In all of those ways, BOSSED was pretty perfect in my opinion. It was just the infuriating way that the heroine acted that made this one a little less than perfect.

Ethan and Jenny started off on the wrong foot. Imagine telling a guy off in the park and then seeing him fifteen minutes later when he's interviewing you for a job. YEP, that happened here. But underneath all of their snark is a undeniable chemistry that you know will eventually combust. Both Ethan and Jenny have issues and protect their hearts at all costs, but in order to make things work, they will have to let the other in.

As I stated earlier, I thought this was pretty much perfect for the most part. I loved Jenny and Ethan's back and forth, their chemistry, and the story overall. But, I wasn't happy with the way handled many things during the book. It took some of my enjoyment out of the book because I was too busy screaming at her for acting like a ninny.

So, BOSSED was a solid *4 STARS* for me. I've only read one other book by this author and I really enjoyed that one too. I definitely will be keeping him on my radar!

This is my first time reading Sloane Howell, but it is definitely not my last. He’s a bit of a unicorn in Romanclandia - a male author! I thoroughly enjoyed Bossed. It’s a fun and sexy story with interesting characters who have great chemistry and indulge in lots of witty banter - my favorite! You’ll laugh, smile and probably blush a little when you read it.

Jenny gets the opportunity of a lifetime when she’s offered a position at Ethan Mason’s sports agent firm. The problem… Ethan is an alpha-jerk. Luckily, she’s not afraid to stand up to him, and she does it with style. Ethan is incredibly attracted to Jenny, but he has never mixed business with pleasure, especially with someone who works for him. They are both very attracted to each other and their jabs and disagreements serve as incredible foreplay. Their sexual chemistry is palpable, and Mr. Howell writes amazing sex scenes.

Bossed should not be missed.

Bossed

Let me start by saying this book is amazingly laugh out loud funny from the very beginning. The back and forth banter is incredible and absolutely believable. Written in dual POV my personal favorite and so very easy to fallow along. I really enjoyed this book and it kept me engrossed throughout. I really loved the characters and the way they interacted with each other. This is a fun, hot, romantic must read book and I would definitely recommend this book to anyone.

Quick overview without spoilers. Ethan is a uptight millionaire sports agent that owns his own company. Jenny Is a accounting analyst with a love of baseball. These two literally crash in to each other and let's just say opposites might always attract but it could be a long way to something wonderful. Going on this journey with author Sloane Howel will not only let in to Happily Ever After but his true LOVE of baseball comes shining through page after page.

Congrats on a wonderful book it was refreshing.

A great book, with more to it than I expected. Full of emotion and romance. I'm anxious for the next book. I posted a review on Goodreads.

It started out to be a promising story but then it fizzled out mid way. It was a fairly predictable office romance kind of story. In order for me to relate to a story I must like the characters a little bit a least. Jenny was sweet, shy one minute and verbally aggressive to her boss the next minute. So therefore she annoyed me very much. I liked Ethan. Liking a book it's subjective so what I may like another may not and vice versa.

One thing I can always count on when I read a LoveSwept book? The story will be fast-paced, the characters will have something to overcome, and the chemistry will be smoldering. Bossed by Sloane Howell is no exception. I whipped through this puppy like it was chocolate during that time of the month. Also like our favorite time of the month, my emotions were all over the place. I laughed, I cried, I felt my heart squeeze, and literally said, “Awwww,” out loud. And I almost threw my Nook because I was so frustrated with the leads in love.

Now, onto the meat of the story. It’s an employer-employee trope revolving around sports. We’ve got Ethan Mason, in his late twenties, and owner of the sports agency Mason and Associates. Jenny Jackson is a whiz with numbers. Thanks to being raised by her single dad, she grew up surrounded by sports and could recall every baseball player’s batting average. It’s like she’s Rain Man with sports stats. Only, she doesn’t have autism, and she’ female, oh, and she’s young and beautiful. She lands an interview for the staff accounting position at Mason and Associates. And if she gets this position, it’d be a pay increase to help with her dad’s growing medical bills as he fights cancer.

So, as you can imagine, there’s a lot at stake for Jenny. Even more lucky for her, the start of her morning—before the interview—begins like the Titanic. Blissfully ignorant she’s about to tank, she spars with a douche customer at a street coffee cart before heading to her interview. We know where this is headed, as said douche is the one and only Ethan Mason. Tee hee hee.

I should’ve ended the interview right then and there. She was too pretty. We were too much alike. She smelled good. Everything about her was a bad idea.

And Ethan almost lets her go, until she schools him with a baseball statistic.

She froze in her tracks while Todd held the door open for her. “.390.”

I’d already begun looking at the net resume when I heard her voice. “Excuse me?”

“George Brett, he hit .390 in 1980. It’s the highest batting average since 1941. Tony Gwynn hit .394 in 1994 but there was a player strike, so he only played in 110 games. Oh yeah, one other thing—only an idiot would use batting average as a reliable metric for valuing a baseball player.

And, oh, the set down is delicious. Especially when Ethan needs to tuck tail. And despite his attraction to Jenny, he offers her the job. Ultimately making money is more important, and she is a genius with numbers. Still, it doesn’t negate the attraction, which Ethan finds harder and harder to ignore.

“Come in.” I didn’t look up from my desk.

“I’m sorry to bother you, Mr. Mason. I was wondering if I could have a word?”

It was her.

Jenny.

Fuck.

Breathe.

How did she unravel me like this? I sat there for a few beats too long before I looked up at her. It was the first time I’d seen her when she didn’t look like she wanted to claw my eyes out. I had to remind myself that this was my business, not a bar on a Friday evening.

The sparring between Ethan and Jenny only heightens the attraction until they finally combust.

“I know you don’t like a woman challenging you. And you don’t like being corrected by a woman who’s smarter than you.”

The devilish smile disappeared and his hands gripped my wrists and pinned them above my head. His mouth was a blue flame in my ear and my legs tried to melt into the floor...I should’ve been scared we’d be caught. I should’ve screamed and fought and filed a law-suit against him and shut his agency down. My body wanted to find out what he could do to me. Each time he touched me I was alive, and each time he tried to own me, my body wanted to give in. What would happen if I did?

And friends, rest assured, she gives in. And what ensues is a tough mudder emotionally and physically. But in the end, so gratifying.
