I received this from NetGalley to read and review. The book is well written and interesting, but it is really a pure “chick lit” book. Skye is ready to take over the family business. In addition, Skye is ready to change a lot about herself. She wants to settle down with a kind, gentle, Catholic man and build a family, which is exactly what her mother wants. Gentry is the bad boy of country music and definitely not a man who is ready to settle down with one woman and build a life. When the pair meets up and spends a wild weekend night together, strange events result. There are some not too unusual twists that develop in their relationship, which I found a bit of a distraction and made me question whether I wanted to continue with the story. Since they are spoilers, I will not go into them, but I will tell you to be prepared for some interesting, though, as I said, not terribly unique, twists in the story. The premise of the story was interesting, though there was little else other than boy meets girl (or vice versa), and a relationship, filled with some not too unusual twists and turns, develops. I have not read any of the other books in the series, but this read as a stand-alone. The story line moved along fairly smoothly. There was definite chemistry between Skye and Gentry. The plot was okay, just not too inventive. As I said, this is a good, chick lit story and will appeal to the reader who enjoys these.
Skye and Gentry were hot hot hot in this book. Skye is trying her hardest to not take risks anymore and become who she thinks she needs to be to take over the business. Gentry is a country music star who has lost his ability to write a great song. At least he was until he happened upon Skye one night and she became his muse. But Skye can't be that risky girl anymore, no matter how much she wants to be. But combine sex, love, and an accident, they both learn what really matters.

Though it is the third book in One and Only Texas series, it can still be read as stand-alone. It was an interesting read with humour and romance
‘One Wild Night’ is as the title suggests: the accidental meeting of 2 strangers at different crossroads of their lives, who then decide to have a weekend fling and then say goodbye. A country music has been, strung around for years to keep up his reputation and raunchy songs with the manager of Briscoe Ranch’s housekeeping whose bad girl is straining at the leash as she battles the values instilled in her from the very beginning—it’s pretty much an unlikely pairing to survive if not for a crisis that happens to turn things around.
This is the sort of read that puts me at a loss for review, particularly when it felt like characters who were doing the wrong things (or sometimes the so-called ‘right’ things) for all the wrong reasons. The accident—a major turning point—suddenly gave Gentry a 180-degree turn from a man who was convinced that he was a commitment-phobe to the other extreme where he found himself going to convert to Catholicism (because it was one of the terms and conditions that Skye had laid out) and become the stable man Skye always wanted. It’d taken life as he knew it away, flipped that mental switch and I disliked how this new Gentry only emerged because the accident gave him no option but to reevaluate what he’d been doing; essentially, I doubted that he would have ever voluntarily chosen the kind of lifestyle that Skye was ultimately looking for or prioritising her because his flagging career came first. Yet the excuses simply vanished with his finger and his sudden transformation kept me in continual disbelief throughout. For Skye, unable to shrug off her religious upbringing, kept thinking of every bad thing happening as heavenly punishment that was meted out to her with the accident had me grimacing, even as she swung from one emotion to another that made her indecisive about what she really wanted.
I’d be the first to say that the kind of religious guilt present throughout made me uneasy...as it was probably meant to be. That it’d resulted in the self-indulgent and sometimes irrational, immature behaviour of the characters—while providing the impetus for dictating directly and indirectly how both Gentry and Skye behaved however—was thoroughly frustrating. Gentry/Skye as a result, didn’t exactly appeal to me, as their relationship simple seemed overshadowed by Skye’s religious convictions (yet contrary behaviour) and Gentry’s seeming inability to do what he really wanted but never managing it until the accident pushed him into it.
The One and Only Texas series has so far, a hit or miss for me. Unfortunately, I think I should have given this one a pass.
Two connect and have major life changes while they are figuring everything out...
(Will be released on February 7th, 2017)
RATING: 3 out of 5
Skye Martinez is determined to shed her rebellious streak, since few years back it brought her nothing but heartbreak. Skye wants to settle down with a dependable, kind-heart Catholic man, to build a family of her own. Just like what her mother has always wanted from her. Meanwhile Gentry Wells is the bad boy of country music, with songs like “Beer O Clock” and “Well Hung”, well, Gentry definitely is NOT one to put down roots. So what happens when the two meet and have one wild weekend night together?
One Wild Night is the third book in Cutler’s One and Only Texas series; but can still be read as stand-alone. I am not completely in love with the book, though. While Gentry and Skye are pretty hot together — boy that one wild night is WILD! — I didn’t feel the right emotional connection for me to root for them.
I guess I wasn’t really amused with the drama presented … especially after the dramatic turn around 2/3rd of the book.
Individually, both Skye and Gentry are pretty okay as characters. There are traits from them that I admire.
Gentry’s career is pretty much built by other people — including songs that are written by others. He might have that bad boy image but Gentry clearly wants to shake it all off. He wants to write his own songs, staying true to himself. The part where he holds audition for his new band, and Skye’s grandmother ends up auditioning as keyboardist is a HOOT (“Dude, you can’t have a full-on geriatric band. It’s not right for the image.”). And one cannot say that he’s not dedicated to Skye…
As for Skye, she might think that she needs to let go of her wild side. But I definitely think that it is what makes Skye who she is. She just needs to see past the heartbreak, to realize that she is not being punished for her rebellion.
Verdict: I didn’t dislike it but I wasn’t overjoyed with it either. It was just an okay read for me. And seeing I felt the same way for book #2 and the novella, maybe I have to pause reading this series for now.
I was given an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest and independent review.
Skye wants a normal life with a normal man but when she meets Gentry a slightly down on his luck country singer she can't help herself. Although initially she doesn't know who he is, she is hit with lust. So they agree to one wild night.
Not for the faint hearted this is a steamy novel. Drawn into their story it is one of the those books that you can't take seriously but one which you can't put down.
3.5***
One Wild Night by Melissa Cutler is a fantastic read. Ms Cutler has delivered a book that is well-written. Skye and Gentry's story is loaded with drama, spice and laugh out loud humor. Ms Cutler has created a cast of characters second to none. I enjoyed reading One Wild Night and look forward to reading more from Melissa Cutler in the future. One Wild Night is book 3 of the One And Only Texas Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.

Who isn't going to fall in love with a book that has characters running into each other in the middle of the dark and going for a horse ride? I mean, that's not my life, at all, but it must be someone's!
This has just enough ups and downs with the characters to be a fun read but also filled with chaos. Both characters have to get over a few issues. There's not a ton of baggage but just enough to keep them both from wanting to jump into a relationship. The fact that Skye doesn't know that Gentry is a country singer makes it all the more fun as they get to know each other.
Gentry is a little bossy. He tells her to go pick out some boots that go with her dress. While not something that threw me off completely, it was just enough to make me pause. I like this character, I do, but chill out dude. I get you're a man's man but damn it women can take care of themselves and be serenaded at the same time! I think.
Again, it wasn't enough to throw me off too much and he was buying the clothes to take Skype shopping. What woman isn't going to love that?
There is a twist that also threw me off a bit after halfway through the book. This is normally something that would make me want to put the book down but I got a spiritual vibe from this so I think I understand that the underlying feeling of the entire story is there. This may not have worked for another story, and again, it may be enough to make a reader say hell no, but that's up for each reader to decide. For me, it was another hiccup but nothing drastic. Just left some question marks.
The plot was good though and I wanted to read through to the end. I could not wait to find out what happened. It is a lovely read with good characters that learn through their character arcs.
In short: A few hiccups but the characters will keep you reading.
This is the third book in the One and Only Texas series but it can definitely be read on its own. Skye is ready to settle down and have a family. But she has a list of qualities she's looking for in a man. Unfortunately, any of the men that fit her checklist fail to excite her passion for life. Then she meets Gentry and is convinced she can be happy with settling down with someone else as long as she has just one night with the bad boy cowboy. Filled with humor and romance, this was a great story that will definitely have you looking for your own bad boy cowboy.

Skye and Gentry’s story is breathtaking, and the title aptly describing uncontrollable chemistry that ignites a hunger that these star-crossed lovers are unable to ignore.
Ms Cutler has written a tale of raw, fiery passion, and the all-consuming desire that makes romance stories so bloody addictive. If you love your romance with a side helping of super sexy cowboy, then this is definitely the story for you!
While the books could be read as standalones, I would strongly recommend enjoying the series from the very beginning. You’ll be happy that you did.
One Wild Night by Melissa Cutler is a great quick, energized read. I loved the adventures that Skye and Gentry have. Their chemistry tips the charts from the very beginning and as time goes on they add depth to their relationship. I thoroughly enjoyed this book.
Skye is a woman who has finally come back home and is happy. She will never leave again. Then comes Gentry, a country western star on a downslide, who is looking to restart his career. He is not a man to stay or tie himself down to anyone. The problem is that when these two meet, the fireworks are immediate. Each knows that they are bad for the other but, cannot seem to stay away from each other. This was a book that was, at times, hilarious, sad, thought provoking and maddening but, love always wins!
Like all of Melissa Cutlers books, this is a wonderful story. Skye and Gentry stole my heart! I wonder what is next for Briscoe Ranch!
Thanks to NetGalley for this ARC copy in exchange for an honest review!
Melissa Cutler has done it again! With her latest novel, One Wild Night, I was hooked. She always creates a beautifully told story. One that engages readers. Emotionally stunning. I loved reading it. Wild indeed. A young Hispanic woman is looking to settle down...yet all her dates have gone bad. Then, one dark night, she meets a sexy cowboy. Their horseback riding leads them both to a breathless night full of want, desires, and need. Something about him being so not what she's looking for makes him perfect for her. Then, attraction comes into play.
Gentry Wells is a bad boy aka country music singer. A cowboy at heart. He needs inspiration. When, he meets Skye at night in a barn, his fate has been sealed. So, has Skye's. Neither one can ignore the instant chemistry. The heat comes off the pages. Raw, possessive, and addictive. One Wild Night is exactly as the title states. Melissa Cutler wrote a tale that not only brings a fiery passion but two sould desperately needing each other. Maybe they will find love after all...I enjoyed reading this contemporary romance. True love is the theme and it is masterfully shown on every last page. Overall, I highly recommend Melissa Cutler's novel to all.
Excellent love story filled with romance, heart, and sensuality. Loved this book to bits!
I have been a long time fan of Melissa Cutler but One Wild Night is a story that I was caught by surprise with because of the achingly beautiful storytelling and narrative. Skye and Gentry at first appear to be two ships passing in the night but after each have sailed off to their different destinations, neither can forget the other. Genrty Wells seems to be the typical country rock star, Skye works with her mother's company that provides housekeeping services for one resort. They meet in the barn and have an instant attraction which leads to a night ride by horseback. This will be their one time meet up but Gentry is at the resort for a wedding and asks to see Skype the following night. An elopement occurs - not theirs - and our main characters have a once in a lifetime adventure, soon to part with only fond memories. Or will they.
I loved how Cutler so carefully crafts Skye's story with her family history pulling and pushing at her wants and needs (and wish she had shared more of Genry's background too). What is most exciting this tale, however is how one main character bends and folds to become what the other character so desparately needs and it is in that telling that this nobel soars. Well done!
