Suzanne Enoch shines in this story charged with an unwanted attraction, rebellious angst, passion and intrigue. The characters come alive on every page and make it impossible to put down.

I was provided a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest and fair review. This book tells the story of Lady Marjorie Forrester, sister to Gabriel Forrester from Book 1 in the series, No Ordinary Highlander. Lady Marjorie receives a letter from her brother informing her of his upcoming marriage, which he plans to celebrate with her in the spring when the weather has improved for traveling. Having missed out on most of their lives though with her brother being in the army and her being in boarding school, Marjorie decides this is one event she won't be missing and immediately departs for the north. Unknown to her, she's walking right into the middle of a clan war between the Maxwell clan and her brother's newly established clan. Graeme Maxton is a laird who lives about 6 hours south of Gabriel. After his parents died when he was 20, he was left to raise his 3 younger brothers and also care for a whole herd of people. Maxwell usually ignores his existence, however his proximity to Gabriel has brought Graeme right into the crossfire of this clan war. And when his younger brothers kidnap Marjorie to try and "help," Graeme then has to figure out what to do with her. And as Lady Marjorie spends more and more time with Graeme and his family, she finds herself fitting into this wild Highland place in a way she never expected.
Overall I really liked this book. I thought that Graeme was a really interesting character and he was so generous and thoughtful and just a great hero for this novel. And his youngest brother is just adorable and I loved the farm yard of pets that they have adopted into their household. While for some authors this plot line might have been unrealistic or unromantic or both, this author does a great job of making the whole thing seem less like Stockholm Syndrome and more like.. fate. The tension and the romance between the two main characters was just perfect. The book also had great supporting characters and plenty of drama with the clan war goings-on.

This is the second book in Suzanne Enoch’s No Ordinary Hero series. While I loved the first book, the second book started off with a kidnap scenario. Whenever I see that in a book, the book has a stiff hill to climb to have me enjoy it. While the story recovered itself somewhat, I found that the kidnap still rankled.

Lady Marjorie Forrester is the sister of the Duke of Lattimer. She decides on the spur of the moment to travel to Scotland to visit her brother and be present for his wedding. Because she is doing this off-the-cuff, she and her companion are traveling without guards. It is not much of a surprise that Marjorie is kidnapped but the individuals who do so and why they do so present a funny scenario.

When Marjorie falls into the custody of Graeme Maxton, the local clan chieftain, he tries to figure out a way to restore her which won’t bring the English law down on his family. What he decides is the best route forward makes for a very unhappy Lady Forrester.

There are charming and fun characters in the story which almost make up for the kidnapping. I wish there had been another way to bring these two together. I was also happy to see Gabriel back from the first book but I missed seeing Fiona, his fiancee.

This story just kind of fell flat for me. I liked the characters and thought they were well developed but I just never felt the chemistry. It seemed like the hero and heroine disliked each other and then all of the sudden they're sleeping together. There was no sexual tension leading up to them getting together. The first half of the book seemed to drag as well. The storyline has potential, it just wasn't executed very well. Then, it comes to an abrupt end. Just left me unsatisfied for being such a long book.

This was an absolute treasure to read. Suzanne Enoch swept me away to another time and place with her detailed descriptive narrative and before I knew it, the words faded away and I was absorbed in it.
Extremely well written and crafted, a great story with a really good build and pace. Lovable, complex characters that made this story, so entertaining, laugh out loud, funny, and who struggled against their underlying sizzling attraction for one another with constant bickering.
But what makes a romance story great for me is that I could watch them fall for each other, feel their protectiveness for one another and even more so feel the anticipation, the want, the desire that they feel for one another. I loved every word! What a gem! Highly Recommended!

This is the second book in the A No Ordinary Hero Novels and I really liked it. The story is fast paced with plenty of drama and suspense and the characters are fun and entertaining. The chemistry between Marjorie and Graeme is steamy. An enjoyable historical read.

My Hero My Highlander!!!!

Viscount Graeme Maxton for the past eight years has his hands full raising his younger siblings. It hasn't been easy and things have gotten just a little harder for Graeme what with his new neighbour the Duke of Lattimer and his troubles with the Duke of Dunncraigh . And his siblings just gave him a heap of problems - of the female kind and that female is none other than the Duke of Lattimers sister Lady Marjorie - now their captive to be used as a pawn in the conflict with the laird of their clan and Lattimer her brother!

All Lady Marjorie wanted was to visit her brother and meet the woman he's to marry and not be abducted by some highland savage children who don't know how to treat a lady, unfortunately for her not all plans work out as planned.
Graeme is shocked at all the events unfolding but try as he might can't seem to rectify the situation.

A tantalizing story full of twists and drama. Lots of witty bander and steamy moments between Graeme and Marjorie. With enchanting descriptive detail that draws the reader in. Well written with humour will have you laughing at some of the antics and secondary characters. A must read for all who love brawny Highlanders and spitfire heroines that bring them to heel.

I received this ARC from the publisher and NetGalley for my honest unbiased opinion!

This is Book 2 in the "No Ordinary Hero" Series and I enjoyed it a lot. This read is entertaining, with a great romance and fun.

The heroine, Marjorie Forrester, has inherited her brother's mansion in London. Gabriel, her soldier brother goes to Scotland to inherit a Dukedom. But the ton doesn't accept her and she feels lonely so she decides to travel to Scotland to her brother's wedding. When she stops in an inn she is kidnapped.
Laird Graeme Maxton is in charge of his 3 younger brothers and doesn't have a lot of money so they decide to help him by kidnapping a lady. Graeme doesn't know how to solve the situation and decides to keep her until he can return her without more problems.

And this is where the real fun starts. Nice read and very entertaining!

No ordinary hero indeed, just a loving big brother trying to fix the mess his younger brothers made. No, kidnapping the sister of the duke is not going to improve things for the Clan.
Marjorie, of course, was not always the sister of a duke. He inherited after the siblings were grown and she is having a difficult transition to Lady of the Ton. She decides to leave London behind and head to Scotland to her brother's wedding. She doesn't make it; instead, three ruffians kidnap her. Their brother, Graeme, is in a dispute with the duke and these boys think having Marjorie as a bargaining chip will help them.
Graeme understands that's not the case and has to figure his way out of what could be a disaster. In the meantime, what to do with his beautiful prisoner (chain her to a bed?)
As kidnappings go, this is a light-hearted one. She is no wilting violet and the interactions between the H/h make for fun reading. The resolution is all that romance lovers could want, and their HEA is as sweet as the journey is enjoyable. A winner! (I received an eARC from NetGalley. This is my honest opinion.

Lady Marjorie is a social outcast in London. When she finds out her brother is about to be married, so she sets out to attend the wedding, whether it's advisable or not. Lo and behold she is kidnapped by a band of ruffians and little does she realize the oldest is all of 16. But they honestly think they're helping their older brother.
Graeme is desperately trying to hold on to his lands that has been in his family for generations when his brother kidnap his neighbors sister. And.... he cannot send Lady Marjorie back without his kin getting in trouble. What's a Highlander to do?
Suzanne Enoch is one of my favorite authors and she did not disappoint with MY ONE TRUE HIGHLANDER. It has a good storyline and great character interaction, especially between Graeme and his brothers. The romance was a little too fast paced, it seemed they went from 0 to 60 in no time at all. But other than that it was a great read.

The premise was a good one but I kept losing interest in this book. Perhaps because so much of it was confined to the one setting of Graeme’s house. That’s only speculation. I would read a few pages and set the book aside. This is not how I used to read a Suzanne Enoch book. I’m a fan of this author but I found myself bored with this one. Not even the side characters of Graeme’s brothers or Marjorie’s companion could rouse me to be interested. I take total responsibility for this attitude because I do think that those who love stories set in the Scottish Highlands will like this book, especially those who want to follow up on book one of this series. The writing is good and the characters are well developed. We met Marjorie in Book #1 and it was good to see her star in this story.

Witty, hilarious and understated. A love story with a difference!

The major part of this novel takes place in the raw Scottish Highlands of 1812. Graeme, Viscount Maxton, is struggling to keep his crofters and land together. His young brothers decide to take things in hand, by kidnapping the sister of their new neighbour, the Duke of Lattimer, and coincidentally, the deadly enemy of their clan chief, the Duke of Dunncraigh. A clan chief Graeme constantly bumps up against, a man he doesn't like or trust. A bully of a man who doesn't care for his clan as is his responsibility.
Meanwhile in London, Lady Marjorie Forrester's attempts to take her place in society are not going so well. In fact she's failing dismally. So why not hive off from her house in Mayfair and surprise her brother at his coming wedding in the Highlands?
At first I thought, 'Where is this plot going?' By the end I was smiling at the daft situations that arose with those three brothers and laughing at the repartee between Graeme and Ree.
A heart warming story, with the added spice of dangerous foes, improbable secondary characters, the two leading characters with a decided sense of the ridiculous strongly attracted to each other, and three young men who just need to be handled in the right way.
A really enjoyable read!

Suzanne Enoch continues her No Ordinary Hero series with the second book - My One True Highlander. Ms. Enoch is one of my favorite authors, and her books set in the Scottish Highlands never fail to disappoint. My One True Highlander is a heartwarming and fun romance with sweet moments and sexy interludes, and I highly recommend it.

Marjorie is headed to the Highlands from London in order to surprise her brother, the Duke of Lattimer, and attend his upcoming wedding. Right before she reaches her brother’s estate, she’s clumsily kidnapped by three brothers ranging in age from eight to sixteen. The Maxton siblings thought to “borrow” Marjorie to use her to bribe their enemy, the Duke of Dunncreigh and chief of the Clan Maxwell, who has been threatening their eldest brother with financial ruin while also feuding with Marjorie’s brother. They plan to give Marjorie to the Maxwell in order for him to use her as a tool against her brother thus earning them his gratitude and a reprieve from his threats.

When the boys bring Marjorie home to their brother, Graeme, he’s not happy. He knows giving Marjorie to the Maxwell would be dangerous to an innocent woman, and the plan would surely backfire. Unfortunately, the brothers are all potentially in a load of trouble for kidnapping her; therefore, he can’t let Marjorie go until he can figure how to get out of this situation unscathed. What starts as brothers making a somewhat-innocent attempt to fix a tough situation, becomes much more than anyone bargained for. As Graeme and Marjorie get to know each other - albeit during odd and sometimes tense circumstances – they discover a fierce attraction and begin to develop feelings for each other.

The Maxwell brothers are an endearing family and add a charming touch to the story. Graeme has raised his three brothers for the past seven years since he was twenty years old. It’s a heavy responsibility for a man so young, but he manages the best he can and loves his brothers fiercely. They are a sweet family unit and make this a truly heartwarming romance, especially because Marjorie has never had much of a family but has longed for one.
Graeme is everything you’d want in a hero - he’s a little bit alpha-male but with a sensitive and romantic side. He and Marjorie have sizzling chemistry, trade hilarious banter and hare intimate and heartfelt moments. My One True Highlander is a wonderful Scottish historical romance.

Gabriel Forrester has been taking care of his sister Marjorie "Ree" since he was 17 years old. Going into the army to support them, he sent her to the best schools he could afford. Never seeing much of him Marjorie made the most of her life as a paid companion and set her dreams of being accepted by the ton behind her. Then one day Gabriel came with news of him being made the Duke of Lattimer of the clan Maxwell and everything changed. With her dreams know in front of her she has everything she's ever wanted but not excepted. Lady Marjorie received news that Gabriel is to wed. She's tired of missing out on his life and decides to surprise him and attend the wedding.
Graeme Maxton's life changed the day his parents died and left him with three brothers to care for and his corner of the Maxwell clan to lead. With all the responsibilities he put his wants away and step in to the roll of parent and Laird. With the war between the Maxwell chieftain and Lattimer there is a price on anything that will take Lattimer down.
Unknowingly Ree walks right into the middle of a building war. Thinking they are helping Graeme his brothers kidnap Ree for Graeme to turn over to their chieftain so he'll leave them be. Graeme now has to protect the willful and spirited Lady Marjorie and keep his brothers out of harm for their foolish act.
Neither Graeme nor Ree are what the other thinks and can they find the life they never knew they wanted or will it be taken away before they admit what they want.
**I loved everything about this book and it's multiple main characters.

I'm a huge fan of Suzanne Enoch's book, so I picked up this book with great expectation because for a long time ago I didn't read anything from her.

The story is about Lady Marjorie Forrester, whose brother Gabriel Forrester, received the title of Duke of Lattimer not long ago, since the old Duke died without leaving heirs.
Marjorie went from someone who needed to work, to someone who employed other people. She had a beautiful Mayfair house, and Mrs Hortensia Giswell, who loved to teach Marjorie how much she still had to learn to be a duke's sister.

In fact, Marjorie was marginalized by London society. So when her brother wrote to her that he was about to marry a Scotswoman-and that she didn't have to go to the wedding because it was winter and the trip would be difficult-Marjorie didn't think twice and left the next day.

Trouble was, her brother was not welcome in Scotland. He had been doing some things that were bothering the other lairds.

Graeme, Viscount Maxton, had his lands and younger brothers to care for, but it was to him that the other nobles went to complain about Forrester and told him to "take care of the subject."
The younger brothers, with fear, decided to help.
When they heard at an Inn that Marjorie was staying and that she was the sister of the new duke, they kidnapped her.

And now Graeme had a new problem on his hands.
The Lady was not subservient, but a wild cat, and Graeme, in addition to needing to avoid a "war", falls in love with her.

The plot is interesting, but for some reason, I didn't feel any connection with the story or the characters. It all seemed like a bad movie that passed before my eyes.

But this is my opinion and I am sure many other readers have loved Ms Enoch's book.
3,5 stars

'My One True Highlander' by Suzanne Enoch is book Two in the "No Ordinary Hero" series. This is the story of Graeme and Marjorie. Marjorieis Gabriel the Duke of Lattimer's younger sister. Marjoriehas been a lady's companion and then after her brother inherited the Title and money she become a lady of the town. But neither has suited her and loneliness has seem to take over. But now she is in the hands of Graeme who not sure at first what to do with his brother's actions. Graeme is having to deal with his other siblings too, the people he overseas...he is stuck. But time won't matter when her brother comes looking for her or Clan Dunncraigh comes for her. Dunncraigh want to use her it seems as a weapon against Lattimer. Graeme starting to think marrying her might be the answer...but will Marjorie agree?
