I don't know why, but I've always listened to audiobook versions of Lisa Scottoline books in the past, but the change in delivery did not change how much I enjoy her books! I was 100% convinced that the book was going to go a different direction, but I loved where it did end up going. Awesome mystery and character development.

What a great book! I had no idea where it was going when it began, and the journey it took was completely engaging and surprising. Loved it!

Terrific and well-crafted thriller by Lisa Scottoline who shows with this book that she knows how to keep the reader hooked from cover to cover with a credible plot and credible twists and turns thrown in along the way.
My first book by Scottoline, but definitely not the last! Five stars!

I have a very confusing relationship with this author; I always like the premise of this author's books more than I like the books themselves.

Firstly, it's never a good sign when a major character's name is wrong in the blurb. I'm stunned this wasn't caught in the editing stage. Secondly, the time frame seemed way too quick for the relationships that formed. If I'm not mistaken, the story started on a Thursday and was wrapped up no later than five days later on the Tuesday. And yet, that was enough time for all the boys on the ball team to form close connections with the coach and, even better, for the coach and the lonely single mom to feel an insta-love attraction. Five days.

This book was fine. There was nothing inherently wrong with it - I think this is a case of "it's not you, it's me".

“Don’t volunteer so much information to complete strangers..You have no idea who’s out there, preying on you, using that information to their advantage. Like me.”
True and ominous words as Scottoline takes us through the labyrinth of a plot in this intriguing thriller.
Teachers, coaches, high school kids, ATF agents and domestic terrorists play the leading roles and getting to know each of them, and their families, through this twisting plot is at the heart of the story.
Definitely one for your reading list, as it was hard to put down and not easily forgettable.

Heather's a single mum with a snippy new boss. Susan's a widow trying to raise two sons who can't stay away from trouble. Mindy's been fat-shamed and cheated on by her husband, and it looks like he's up to no good again.

Meanwhile, Chris has secrets that involve their sons...

I've spent the past month catching up on Lisa Scottoline's standalones, and One Perfect Lie is my favourite thus far. A thriller with plenty of family drama and suspicious characters, it's a fast read of which I read most of the second half in one sitting. It's a cracker!

I am a big fan of Scottoline's novels and this one is a terrific book, filled with intriguing characters, unusual situations, and fascinating conflicts that work themselves out and grab you and engage you. These are all reasons why I await her next works and why I find them so wonderful to read. I highly recommend this book, if you haven't read anything by her before this is a good example of why you should dive in and explore more of what she has written.

One perfect lie by Lisa Scottoline.
Curt Abbott is lying to get into a teaching position. His false name Chris Brennan has the perfect life. Why has he done this? What does he want with the school? I really enjoyed this book. The story kept me going. I was curious. What was Curt up to? I wasn't sure if I liked him or not. Wow didn't see that coming. 4*.

(I received a free copy of this book from Net Galley in exchange for an honest review.)

On paper, Chris Brennan looks perfect. He's applying for a job as a high school government teacher, he's ready to step in as an assistant baseball coach, and his references are impeccable.
But everything about Chris Brennan is a lie.
Susan Sematov is proud of her son Raz, a high school pitcher so athletically talented that he's being recruited for a full-ride scholarship to a Division I college, with a future in major-league baseball. But Raz’s father died only a few months ago, leaving her son in a vulnerable place where any new father figure might influence him for good, or evil.
Heather Larkin is a struggling single mother who lives for her son Jordan's baseball games. But Jordan is shy, and Heather fears he is being lured down a dark path by one of his teammates, a young man from an affluent family whose fun-loving manner might possibly conceal his violent plans.
Mindy Kostis succumbs to the pressure of being a surgeon's wife by filling her days with social events and too many gin and tonics. But she doesn’t know that her husband and her son, Evan, are keeping secrets from her – secrets that might destroy all of them.
At the center of all of them is Chris Brennan. Why is he there? What does he want? And what is he willing to do to get it?

*2.5 stars*

I had actually forgotten about this book - it was such a far cry from Scottoline's usually fare that I really had a hard time believing it was written by the same person...

A few big issues here for me: firstly, the plot didn't really get going until about the halfway mark - and by the time you really get into it, you really have no choice to sense where the book is heading and what the conclusion is going to be. Also, the characters weren't really fleshed out, not very original. I didn't really find anything in them to connect with, so that was a massive disappointment.

So, why the 3 stars? Well, as the rating suggests - it was "okay". I wasn't badly written, it wasn't the worst thing you have ever read...but it did nothing to stand out, especially as a stand alone novel for an author with a huge following. This should have been better.

I love Lisa Scottoline's Rosato & DiNunzio Series and was looking forward to reading this stand alone book. I have to say that I was disappointed. At first I didn't know if Chris was the good guy or the villain. Once the truth was revealed, the book was predictable. There were too many characters that had no depth. I will not give up reading Lisa's books. This one was just not for me. Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for a copy of this book. and this is my honest review.

Once again Lisa Scottoline delivered a knockout of a book! Her style of writing always grabs me from the first page and I will usually read her book in one or two sittings. The characters were well-developed, so I felt invested in them and the plot intrigued me. Highly recommend!

Suspenseful read of an (eco)political thriller! This is a stand-alone & will knock your socks off. Be ready to think and feel.

Lisa Socottoline's books are so good. There are always a few things I didn't see coming which I enjoy. I don't love reading 100% predictable novels. There's not element of surprise or mystery, but hers keep me turning the pages. They aren't mysteries per se, but there are always unanswered questions.

Loved the story! The anticipation of what Chris was planning at the beginning really hooked me. Everyone and each situation was portrayed in such a manner that it was hard to guess the outcome. This was a great suspense novel. Highly recommended!

Twist, turns, and mystery - Lisa Scottoline does a good job of leading us down a path and then pulling the rug out from under us. Story line was a bit foggy though and the characters were not really as developed as I would like. Interesting portrayal of Chris, the protagonist, but I don't understand the character Heather's response to Chris in the story - doesn't seem to be a real life reaction in the beginning of the story - which is off putting - not indicative of the romance element of the story. There are several unbelievable scenarios going on through out the story and I didn't love the ending.

Lisa is a must read author for me and this book surely did not disappoint. I love how she does not hold back in her writing and gives the reader her all.

I usually enjoy Lisa Scottoline books, and this was no exception. I wasn't exactly sure how to feel at the beginning, or where this story was going, but everything was cleared up (in grand fashion) as I continued on.
Interesting premise, related to current events.
