There is just something comfortable about reading a book from an author whose work I have come to love and trust as a guaranteed happy read for me. As soon as I was about 10 pages into this story I was hooked and by the end of the second chapter I had fallen for Joe Collins. All I could do was wait for Alex to feel the same way too 

Alex and Eric have been corresponding with each other via email for the past six months. They have shared many personal stories with each other, discussed their future hopes & dreams and the ease of the friendship they have is what makes Alex decide to finally visit him in person.

Okay it was actually Alex’s best friend Val who pushed her to take that step, book a flight and show up at Dive Bar to meet the man she has been falling for online. He just seems to be perfect for her and may just be the one. One small thing she doesn't know though, the man she is emailing is not who she thinks it is and therefore showing up at Eric's private birthday party to surprise him may turn out to not be what she had quite envisioned.

Alex’s appearance at Dive Bar was definitely a surprise…. For everyone. I was cringing at the scene being described and almost didn’t want to look at my kindle screen but I couldn’t look away either. Needless to say everything goes tits up and she leaves under a cloud of absolute humiliation.

The thing about talking to a stranger online is that they could be anyone really. You are counting on them being as honest as you are and trust that the connection you have is real. Alex is furious at herself and the situation she is now in. However, most of her anger is now directed at the person that fooled her. Joe Collins is a man she now has at the top of her shit list.

Joe never expected Alex to show up at the Dive Bar and now he has a huge mess to deal with. Despite the fact that he pretended to be Eric, he does not have the same character traits as his brother. Joe is a genuinely sincere and nice guy. His remorse for this situation is evident in the way he treats Alex after he convinces her to talk to him.

Everything about the friendship they had online was 100% him, apart from his name and appearance. Alex is feeling conflicted, Joe is not even her type and he has a long beard, she hates beards! However, once she sees her way past the humiliation and anger she realises what a great guy he is.

Joe and Alex had been building this amazing friendship to the point where they looked forward to their daily online interaction. Alex is a bit of a homebody and in some ways a bit of a recluse, often saying no to social invitations. Joe is more of a yes man, to the point that he hardly ever says no to friends and family, despite his own personal wants and dreams. He has enjoyed having Alex to email and talk with, he doesn't want to lose her from his life now.

The one thing that Joe hasn't experienced over the past few years is someone willing to fight in his corner for him and when tragedy hits the Dive Bar family, Alex shows him with her actions that real friends do just that. Things may feel out of control but this girl seems to be able to centre him, expecting nothing in return. Maybe something good can come out of this whole twisted mess after all?

Oh and in case you are wondering..... there is plenty of hot sexing in this story and I think a certain male needs to be crowned as the King of Pussy Eating.
That. Is. All.

I was really looking forward to this book, but it turned out to be not a book I enjoyed.

Going into this book I was expecting it to be just as good or even better than book one, instead it fell flat.

The first 25% was hard to read. I was hoping like any other book it would just start out rough but pick up this didn't.

I kept reading because I love the author, but it was a no go. I couldn't connect with the characters, I was confused, and the book was just not holding my attention.

On the other hand there were a few scenes I really enjoyed. I still love this author, so one book that wasn't my cupa won't make me stop reading her books.

I seriously couldn't wait to get my hands on this book.
I read Dirty and absolutely fell for the book, and all the crew from the bar. And when I found out the next book was almost here, it made me so giddy.

Kylie writes some of the most relatable characters I've ever read.
And I absolutely love that she constantly breaks that normal form we see for female characters.
She knows how to write them so they're a little funny and maybe a tad crazy. But yet such strong sure woman that don't care what they look like as long as they like who they are. And if you just happen to have a hot man to throw into the mix too.. Why not? Haha

The plot to this one was just so so good. And it pulled me in so quickly and I literally couldn't put this book down until I hit that last page.
It was so well written and such a fun and even steamy read at times. And I adored every single page of i, start to finish.

4 Stars!

It is no secret that I have mad love for this author. Kylie Scott wrote the Stage Dive series that still remains my favorite rock band series. When I heard that Kylie Scott was writing a spin-off series to the Stage Dive series, I was quick to read Dirty, which I loved. Twist is another great read that had me flipping pages as quickly as I could as I binged on this second installment of the Dive Bar Series.

Alex Parks has traveled from Seattle to meet her online love interest, a man named Eric. When she learns that it’s not actually Eric that she’s been developing a relationship with, but his brother Joe, Alex is understandably upset and feels duped. She has full intentions of rushing home immediately but comes down with a nasty flu bug that forces her to stay to recover.

Joe Collins is just the man to help nurse her back to health. He feels bad that he deceived Alex, but hadn’t expected to connect with her as quickly and completely online like he did. He is determined to help her see that he’s not the bad guy that Alex believes him to be.

I really enjoyed this romance. Although Alex and Joe are very different, it is so clear that they were meant for one another. Their banter and natural way of relating to one another was so refreshing. The online relationship that they had developed created a depth and comfort level between Alex and Joe that was obvious throughout the book.

Another thing that I enjoyed about this book was the many different emotions that I felt while reading. It was a really funny book that had me laughing out loud several times, but it was also very touching and had some very deep and thought-provoking aspects to it. Kylie Scott is a very talented author, and this book certainly showcases that talent.

I am so glad that we have another book in this series to look forward to. Eric’s story, Chaser is due out April 2018.

Ok so for my second Kylie Scott read of today, and I love it just as much as the first. Like I said with Dirty, I haven't read Kylie Scott before and dear god will I be fixing that STAT!

Alex Parks is headed to Dive Bar to meet Eric, the guy she's been conversing with online for months. What a shock when it's not pretty boy Eric but his hot Bigfoot brother Joe. Who I would climb like a tree. But moving on.

Alex can't believe that the person she's opened up to over months isn't who she thought he was. Although considering the real Eric, I think Joe was a better option. No offense Eric. But Alex is more of a homebody so this was a BIG step for her.

Joe knew he should have just stopped talking to Alex online as his brother but he was just liked having an outlet that didn't know his family, his friends and just someone to talk to.

Another confession, yes I have talked to men online. And I have met some. Thankfully, they have been exactly who they portrayed themselves to be. And one is even a really good friend. But I totally understand how hurt Alex was by Joe being Eric online.

Really enjoyed this book. I enjoyed how Joe and Alex met. She goes to meet up with Eric but it's Joe who she's been really emailing. Alex doesn't get out much and says no to everything. Joe says yes to everyone. I like what they do for each other, how they help each other.
I would recommend this book.

Twist is the newest book in the Dive Bar series and it is fantastic! I love how the characters from her last series are interwoven throughout the Dive Bar series, making them feel like old friends. Love it!

That feeling when you discover a new-to-you author and you HAVE TO DEVOUR EVERYTHING by that writer…BOOK BLISS!!! I finally met Kylie Scott’s wondrous words, INHALING the two books in her newest series, Dive Bar, in two days: Dirty and Twist! I leaped into Twist blindly because I wanted to discover every element of this story on my own…such a heady feeling! Enthralling and enticing, Twist whisks you away into a wonderful whiskey-coated world where you feel every drop, drunk on every word.

From the minute I dove into the latest Dive Bar romance, Twist, I was UTTERLY ADDICTED!!! Twist swiftly SWEPT ME AWAY, a slow burn of a romance that seeped into my soul. The Dive Bar family became MINE, as Twist thrust me into a world centered on a bar with characters who were refreshingly normal. The Dive Bar gang wrapped themselves around me so tightly that I felt like I was in their circle of friends — a part of their story too — and it was PHENOMENAL!

After secrets are shared between a lonely graphic artist and a burley bartender, an online relationship takes a twisted turn in an intriguing case of mistaken identity.

The hero, Joe Collins, is rugged, rough, and ridiculously sexy! This hot bartender-meets-mountain lion is complex and caring with a heart of gold…a sweet surprise! All I could do was picture Thor, and what a delicious sight that was while reading. Joe incensed me at times but still held my heart during the whole story. This blond, bearded, buff, burly, and beautiful beast OWNED ALL OF ME.

The beautiful heroine, Alex Parks, is a talented graphic artist and a sassy spitfire!!! I loved this fierce female who spits out sarcasm like she’s a fire-breathing dragon, soooo entertaining!!! Alex doesn’t want to be attracted to this beautiful beast, but she can’t help but be roused by the rugged bartender.

Wise or not, my ovaries seized control and they wanted to make big strong babies with the man, pronto. Common sense never stood a chance.

Kylie Scott’s writing is a lethal mix of humor and heat, where you turn wanton woman and giggling drunk girl all at once.

I'd crushed on him hard.

Then I'd hated him with the fire of a thousand suns.

Now I liked him and his body far more than I should.

Joe and Alex had an instant connection that was COMBUSTIBLE!!! Sparks flew from the blazing banter to the sizzling chemistry!!! The push and pull…the fire and ice…so STIMULATING and SMOLDERING!!!

“I made my move,” I said, nervous as all hell.

“It’s your turn.”

Fingers dug into my hair and his mouth covered mine, hot and hungry.

That kiss made me MELT inside, heat smoking from the pages to me! Joe and Alex are an imperfectly perfect pair, a puzzle of a couple who when pieced together fit flawlessly. Opposites attract, and these sexy opposites were ON FIRE, as was I!!

There was no going slow. We were a car crash, a catastrophe.

Twist was my delicious drug; I could not inhale its words fast enough…UTTER BOOK BLISS! I was sooo DRUNK ON THIS BOOK!!! Intoxicating. Intense. Incredible. Twist wrapped itself around my heart, twisting around every part of me and never letting go. This story, such a testament to inner beauty and strength, STOLE MY SOUL!!!

Kylie Scott, why haven’t I met this writer’s work sooner?!? This AMAZING AUTHOR has quickly risen to my favorites list! With characters that are raw and relatable, a plot that is believable and brilliant, and words that grip and grab everywhere, you can’t help but FALL HARD for the Kylie Scott’s Dive Bar series.

Twist twisted itself around me, working itself into my heart where I could do was just FEEL!!! I’m still feeling the effects of Twist, my wonderful whiskey, in a massive hangover. Twist is phenomenal...a push-and-pull of the heart that is PURE PERFECTION!!!

5 heart-hitting ‘twisted’ stars

Kylie Scott rocks my reading world.
I know two thing when I open a Kylie Scott book. One- I know the characters are going to win me over with their person passions and personality. Two- I am going to get a good laugh while I become immense into two people trying to find love. Twist delivers on every level of what a romance reader wants and needs.
Joe is an amazing man, hands down. Caring, generous and willing to go above and beyond. There is nothing wrong with a man who is great with his hands. The beard does not hurt one bit. I really enjoyed is compassion and caring side. He's a man, so as we all know he is going to trip up. Even in his hiccups, Joe stayed true to himself and what he believes.
Alex is a flippin hoot and I totally want to be her friend. She’s bold and daring. She put herself on the line, scared while doing it but she did it. Her world got twisted and she made the best she could of a complex situation. I admired Alex throughout Twist. She continued to surprise me and make me laugh.
Twist is emotional, funny and pretty hot. Joe and Alex both step out of their comfort zones giving fans of the Dive Bar Series an outstanding read. Chemistry, passion and pure hotness line the pages while complex emotions flow. Friendships grow and change, love creeps its way in and also finds a way to revive something gone sour. Kylie Scott invites reader into the Dive Bar, giving them a book that will leave you with lingering thoughts!

I have to admit the first book in this series didn't wow my but since I love Kylie Scott I was ready to try it again. This book too a bit of time for me to get into but eventually I fell.

Alex never takes risks but once she start's a email relationship with Eric or whom she thinks is Eric but is really Joe. She takes a leap of faith and goes to meet him in person, but is quite shocked when she finds out Eric isn't who is said he was.

Alex is desperate to get back at home but one unfortunate flue and a persistent Joe she's forced to stay a bit longer. Which forces Alex to forgive Joe and try to make something out of the major miscommunication. It started off good but tragedy, emotional running and exes showing up causes Alex and Joe's bubble to fall apart.

Sadly with assumptions and more running causes even more tension between these two but sometimes more risks are needed to get what you want. I eventually did like Alex and Joe but it did take me awhile and I'm never a fan of assumptions and not communicating so when that comes in, it happens to dampen my reading experience at times.

In the end I did like Alex and Joe and the more I get to know the other characters the more I'm getting pulled into this series. However, I hope we get more from Val and now I can't wait for Eric's story.

My favorite book this month was definitely Twist by Kylie Scott. Twist took a mature turn for the series. It starts off as a case of mistaken identity but, as the story continues there's various character evolutions that occur. With her usual brand of wit and humor, she builds a story of second chances and new beginnings. The story went totally in the opposite direction of what I expected and kept me on my toes. I was also really excited to find out more about the lumberjack in the group and whoa, totally swoonworthy is our hero, Joe. He was the perfect balance to Alex. I'm excited to see what's in store for the next in the series, Chaser! (Amazon | Barnes & Noble | Kobo)

As someone who has dated online and eventually met her husband online, I know all about the pitfalls of online dating. So when I read the blurb of Twist, I was sold. I had to read it. This was my first Kylie Scott novel too. I had heard a lot of praise for her novels so I was pretty excited to dive in. And I’m happy to say the hype held up. This book was fantastic. It was funny, sweet and sexy. I was entertained from beginning to end—read it straight through in a couple of hours.

Alex is slightly broken, a bit of a mess and sassy. Out of all the characters I’ve ever read, I think I relate to her the most. I think there’s only one more that comes pretty close. She’s had it rough and it’s left its mark on her. Joe is sweet, broody and sexy. I love big, tatted, and bearded guys. And I sincerely appreciated that while he was built, he wasn’t a chiseled body. Not all guys need to have washboard abs. I happen to love my husband’s little pooch he’s sporting. This was a slow burn romance, the chemistry and relationship built up from friends to lovers. It was great being able to see the connection build. Watching the two trade witticisms kept me giggling. The character development was spot on; they each had backstories with strengths, weaknesses and insecurities interwoven in. It helped the whole story feel real and honest.

The secondary characters were fabulous too. I loved Nell, she made me smile. Pat, I wanted to hug. Some I just wanted to slap silly. Beware the feels; there is one point of the book that I had to set my Kindle aside and breath deep, as it hit a little close to home. There is a little bit of drama inside. And while I understand where the drama is coming from, it tarnished Joe for me a little bit. Still, I loved the book. I can’t believe it took me this long to read a Kylie Scott book, now I’m going to make my husband mad at me by buying all the books. I must have them all. I can’t wait to see what happens next at the Dive Bar.

Twist is the second book in the Dive Bar series by Kylie Scott, and I couldn't wait to get my hands on this book after reading Dirty. This book is a standalone story, so you don't need to have read Dirty to enjoy Twist. I was new to Kylie Scott with Dirty, but I am definitely becoming a huge fan of hers. I enjoyed Twist a lot, and I think fans of Dirty are going to enjoy this one as well.

After his younger brother loses interest in his online dating profile, Joe Collins logs in intending to shut the account down. But then he reads about Alex Parks, and soon his best intentions have gone out the window. As the two being emailing back and forth, they start sharing everything with one another, including secrets that they have never told anyone else. But Alex doesn't know that Joe is himself and thinks that he is actually his younger brother, and when the truth comes out it could ruin everything that they have been building.

I really liked both Joe and Alex. Despite the lie that brought them together, I felt like they had such a strong and genuine connection. The chemistry was there right away and these two seemed meant to be. I loved how things built from friends to more. Their banter was so much fun to read about and kept me interested from the first page to the last.

The thing I really love about this series so far is that as great as the main characters are, the secondary characters are just as likable and fun to read about. They all add something to the story and I love this world that Kylie Scott has created. I am really looking forward to reading more from her in the future, and I think that readers are going to really enjoy this story.

If there is one thing you can always count on when reading a Kylie Scott book is that there will always be sarcastic zingers and a level of authenticity that will have you wishing the characters were real people. There is no exception to this book. There are plenty of sarcastic quips to go around and characters you will wish you could hang out with in real life.

Alex Parks prefers to keep to herself in the comfort of her own home where life is easier and safer but when she starts up a conversation with who she thinks is Eric Collins on a dating site, she starts to fall for the guy on the other side of the screen. With encouragement from her best friend she decides to surprise her online confidante and meet him in person. She figures if anything they could at least have a one-night fling to satisfy their curiosity. However, when she shows up to surprise Eric she learns he isn’t the man she’s been talking to, flirting with and connecting to on a deeply personal level. It is all been a lie.

Joe Collins is used to living in his brother Eric’s shadow and used to cleaning up his messes but this time it is him who has created a mess that he has to clean up and he isn’t used to being on this side of a situation. Joe is used to being the nice guy that puts everyone else’s needs and feelings ahead of his own. It is that empathic need to make everyone else happy, that need to always say yes that has left Joe feeling empty and has him looking for an outlet to let his real feelings out. He finds that outlet on accident on a dating account he had set up for Eric. Joe never had the intention of lying to Alex or pretending to be someone he wasn’t but when he saw her messages he was enamored by her quick wit, friendly banter and creativity. He didn’t plan on getting so deeply wrapped up in their conversations nor taking it beyond the internet but now that Alex has showed up, in real life, he has to face up to his actions and find a way to prove to her that he isn’t the jerk she thinks he is.
Joe and Alex are a perfect couple. They bring to the relationship exactly what the other one needs. Alex needs someone to teach her how to step out of her shell and live beyond her comfort zone. Joe needs someone to teach him how to say no and go after his dreams. I enjoyed the banter between Alex and Joe. Alex is awesome and I could see myself hanging out with her. She really didn’t take crap from anyone. Joe is so sweet and always underestimating his value. I was glad he got the happy ending he deserved and Eric is FINALLY growing up and realizing his actions have consequences that affect others. I can’t wait to see what woman eventually walks into his life and truly puts him in his place. It was nice to see how everyone else in the Dive Bar world is doing and nice to see things finally coming to a better place for some of the characters that were facing some stressful and sad situations. It was also great to get a quick glimpse into where the Stage Dive crew is at in their lives!

Another excellent book by Kylie Scott. I thought I'd miss the drama of her rock stars from Stage Dive but Twist was equally good!

Audiobook Review:
I love Kylie Scott’s writing so I won’t miss a book that she writes. I loved the Stage Dive Series, and really enjoyed Dirty, so I was hoping that Twist would bring me back to the love I felt for Mal. While I enjoyed the story a lot, it was a unique, sweet, sexy and fun story with some big emotions, it just didn’t make me swoon and want to gush about it. But still, Twist was a solidly enjoyable read.

From the Blurb:
When his younger brother loses interest in online dating, hot, bearded, bartender extraordinaire, Joe Collins, only intends to log into his account and shut it down. Until he reads about her.

Alex Parks is funny, friendly, and pretty much everything he's been looking for in a woman. And in no time at all they're emailing up a storm, telling each other their deepest darkest secrets... apart from the one that really matters.

When Alex hasn’t heard from “Eric”, the guy she has been chatting online with for months (in a platonic way), she decides to fly in and show up to surprise him for his birthday. “Eric” was gorgeous and just Alex’s type, so she wouldn’t mind it becoming more.

Only when she shows up at the bar, Eric acts like a total douche and has no clue who she is. Mortified, Alex finds out his big, hairy, beast of a brother Joe has been catfishing her by pretending to be Eric.
"His golden mane flowed down over his wide shoulders, a beard covering the bottom half of his face. I guess it kept him warm in the winter, but seriously. Who needed that much hair?"

Completely mortified that this happened, she runs out into the rain just as she is getting sick.
“I wondered how long it would take for this whole little adventure to turn into some funny story I told people. Except no part of me was amused. Not even a single cell. My Eric, the beautiful man from the Internet, didn’t exist. Not really. Because the guy who’d charmed me with long, rambling emails about life and everything was a liar. And everyone knew, you couldn’t trust a liar.”

Alex is not only completely embarrassed and ashamed she fell for it, but she is devastated she lost someone who has become one of her closest friends.
”I know it must feel like you don't know me, but you do. It was just a couple of details. But the person talking to you, that was me."

When Joe tracks Alex down to apologize, he finds her with a horrible case of the flu, all alone in a strange city, and spends days nursing her back to health.
"Once my guard was down, due to complete and utter exhaustion, Joe had cuddled me. It was terrible, disgusting. Fingers caressing me, lips pressing soft kisses to my shoulder and the back of my neck. Normally I'd never allow it, but it felt so good."

I loved the way his personality shined through so much that suddenly Joe, who was totally not someone she was attracted to at the beginning became the hottest guy ever.
“When it came to Joe Collins, my pussy was a wanton whore. And seriously, who could blame it? His body was one big beautiful playground. There wasn’t an inch of him I didn’t want to explore.”

Likes:

•Fun and light-hearted.
•A surprise appearance from someone special.
•Visiting with the Dive Bar crew from Dirty.
•Such a modern, pop-culture theme.
•Some emotional moments.
•The characters felt very real and flawed.
•Her friend Valerie.
•How they talked and got to know each other.

Dislikes:

•The additional drama at the end wasn’t necessary, and took away a bit of my love for him and the book in general.
•Nowadays, who chats online for months without ever facetiming or skyping?
•Wish we had his POV.

Narration:
And Arndt was as good as always, but it was just her. And quite honestly, I'd really like to hear someone else for a change. There was no male POV.

The Down & Dirty:
I really enjoyed Twist by Kylie Scott. I absolutely loved the unique and modern theme of being catfished, though nowadays it’s hard to believe they never video chatted or sent goofy photos of themselves on the spot. I loved the fact that both characters were very real and very flawed. There was some drama at the end that I could have done without and I think I would have enjoyed the book more. I really dislike Eric, and I am not sure it’s possible to redeem him in my eyes so I will be holding out on that until I read some reviews.

Rating: 4-4.25 stars, 4 heat, Narration 4
