Like all good mixed drinks, there are certain elements that just go together to make a smooth cocktail. You wouldn't mix Rum and Vodka without adding Triple Sec, Tequila, and Gin for the perfect Long Island. Kylie Scott books are the perfect blend of all the right liquors mixed together. When you open her books you are going to find a blend of diversity, humor, sexiness, insecurity, confidence, and above all, plot. These ingredients alone are good, but together create stories that will make you book drunk. As a reader of all of Kylie's books, I must say she can create an addict easily.
Twist gives the idea of being catfished new meaning. We meet Alex and Joe, the two, admittedly when they see each other, are not the other's type. One flu later and lots of cold medicine has them seeing each other very differently.
With diverse character's who are realistic in their need to work and their flawed nature, we are drawn to Alex and Joe. Joe, the hot bartender makes construction sexy. Alex, the graphic designer with a realistic shape and flare for home improvement shows, proves to be a worthy match for Joe Collins. I loved the way she stood up for Joe and the pair blended together. Kudos Kylie.
Twist is the second book in Kylie Scott’s new Dive Bar series. All her books are standalones but they’re fun to read so would recommend reading her Stage Dive series because this series is a spin-off. I laughed and cried while reading this novel. I must admit my favorite part was when there was glimpses of past hilarious characters (Mal).
Alex met a man online and shows up to finally meet him in person. But (plot twist) the man she’s talking to isn’t the man in the pictures or even the same name. Joe has been talking to Alex using his brother’s online profile. Alex is pissed being lied to but Joe won’t let her leave believing it was a joke only meant to catfish her. Joe fell for her the minute they began talking but didn’t know how to break the new to her. He honestly believed her would never meet her because she lives on the other side of the country.
I loved Twist and I can’t wait to see who comes next! An easy 5 star read for me and I’d recommend this novel to anyone looking for a funny heartfelt romance.
Review will post this week at www.fictionvixen.com. I will add link when review posts.
When Alex Parks shows up unexpectedly at a birthday party for her the man she met on a dating site and has been talking to for months, she kind of expects him to be surprised, but excited to see her. They’re friends right? What she doesn’t foresee is that he will look at her like she’s a complete stranger.
Eric Collins has no idea who Alex is, but his older brother Joe does. Oh yes, Joe knows a whole lot about Alex as he’s been the one who has actually been talking to her all this time. It all started when he helped his brother sign up for an online dating site and then realized that Eric wasn’t responding to any of the emails or inquiries. Intending to shut it down, he instead began to email back and forth with Alex and they seemed to really click. When he realized how hard it would be to admit his deception, he backs off and starts to distance himself. Which is when Alex boards a plane and heads out to find out why he suddenly disappeared.
Let’s just say that Alex is pissed when she realizes that Joe has been lying to her all this time. She understandably feels like he’s played her for a fool and never wants to see his bearded face again. But Joe wants to make amends, he at least wants a chance to explain himself. Fully intending to get the hell out of dodge and never to see Joe or any of the people from Dive Bar again, Alex is instead laid low by a pretty severe case of the flu. It’s Joe who steps up and nurses her through the fevers and coughing. Joe who brings her food and checks in to make sure she needs anything, and it’s Joe who slowly, but surely works his way back into Alex’s good graces.
Oh my word, I adored Joe. ADORED. ∼big bearded, tattooed, nice guy, swoony sigh∼
Alex and Joe become friends again. Then friends with sexy benefits. Then more. There was a point toward the end when I wanted to smack Joe upside the head, because I felt like he was the one being an unreasonable jerk and Alex should not have had to apologize. But really that’s my only complaint.
There is a resolution to the side plot between Nell, Eric and Pat which alternately made me sad and then happy, but I’m kind of hoping that Ms. Scott will revisit them and tell their story in entirety. Eric is up next and I’m not sure how I feel about that. So far he’s been nothing but a selfish, narcissistic asshole and I’m wondering how this author will manage to redeem him. But hey, she made me fall in love with Jimmy from Stage Dive, so I have faith.

Joe Collins sets up a dating site for his brother Eric. When Eric doesn't want to use it, Joe has every intention to cancel it, until he reads an email from her.
Alex Parks, a self admitted recluse, has been having an online relationship with "Eric." She decides after small span of no communication from "Eric," she is hoping on a plane to go meet him in person. One of the bravest things she's ever done, until she walks in Dive Bar and she can match all the names with faces, but Eric has no idea who she is.
I absolutely loved Twist from the first word to the last. Ms. Scott has an amazing way with words. There is humor, a bit of a rollercoaster of emotion, and just the right about of drama to suck you in. It doesn't hurt that Joe and Alex are sexy and quite explosive when they get together.
I can't wait to see what's next for Dive Bar!!
I loved hearing from Mal he will always be a favorite KS character!

I have been a huge fan of Kylie Scott since the first Stage Dive book. I was over the moon when she started writing the spin off, Dive Bar series. I really enjoyed Twist! It started with a bang and continued to be a great read that I didn't want to put down. Alex and Joe meet each other on an online dating site. Problem is, Joe is posing as his brother, Eric, on the site. When Alex decides to take a chance and come meet her "Eric," she drops in on everyone at the Dive Bar and all heck breaks loose. Eric has no clue who she is, but Alex seems to know about everyone else! This scene is by far my favorite awkward online meet up gone wrong that I have ever read! Kylie Scott's way of writing a strong but funny and self-deprecating lead is one reasons I really enjoy her style. She mixes such comedy with real feeling characters and heartfelt emotions. Several crack up moments and lots of funny inner dialogue by our leading lady Alex, I found myself giggling often and then groaning over Joe's thick-skulledness. This book has well written, lovable characters with the right amount of drama.
While the first book didn't do as much for me as this installment, I think I'm a fan of Dive Bar and all its funny and fun characters.

Alex shows up at Dive Bar ready to finally meet "Eric," who she met on a dating site and has been emailing for six months. The problem is Eric has no idea who Alex is. Joe steps up and confesses she had really been emailing him. Humiliated, Alex runs back to her hotel but ends up coming down with the flu and Joe helps nurse her back to health.
I love that while there is plenty of tension and drama in this story it isn't overly gushy in its romance. When the characters open up to each other a bit at a time, it feels honest and real. I also love that Alex and Joe are just two ordinary, hardworking people with normal person issues and worries. I found them easy to relate to and it was even a little inspiring seeing them encourage each other to face their fears.
Twist is a great read. I'm having a ball spending time with the crew from Dive Bar and I look forward to the next book in this series.

If you have not read any books in this series yet, then I would suggest that you do yourself a favour and start at the beginning – but if you are too impatient, then this will still be good as a first dip.
You know that saying, "Never judge a book by its cover?" Well Alex gets to learn that it was definitely the contents that attracted her attention and should still.
Told with a wonderful mix of humour, previous emails, and an abundant need for flu remedies, this is a story of the modern age. Seriously enjoyable book of the type that makes you want to keep turning the pages right to the end in one sitting. The writing style is fluid, with plenty of snappy, snarky dialogue to make you laugh and cringe at all the correct moments. Add in some super hot bits and a dose of sadness, and all elements are well and truly covered.
Thank you Ms. Scott, for another really good read.

I love the way Kylie Scott brings a story to life. I loved this addition to the series!
Alex has finally found someone she can talk to… online. Then she goes to meet him and finds out she’s been catfished. Joe is a hardworking bartender who decided to pretend to be his brother online and wound up being attracted to the quirky Alex. Joe is huge, blond, and bearded where the brother he’s pretending to be is tall, dark, and handsome… exactly Alex’s type. When Alex flies to meet her online boy-toy, she’s very upset to learn that not only has she been tricked, but he’s not even her type… or so she thinks.
I absolutely love the camaraderie between Joe and Alex, it’s hilarious. The two are really perfect for one another. I love that Alex is such a quirky heroine, she’s not your typical “perfect” woman you usually get with a romance and I really enjoyed the originality. This is a real page turner, I can’t wait for Kylie Scott’s next dose of awesome!
Oh my goodness, this book was so much fun to read. I absolutely loved Alex's voice--her snark, her insecurities, her weird quirky hangups--I think I found my new fictional BFF. (She's given me my new motto: "When in doubt, don't answer the phone or the door. It's always people." Maybe we were separated at birth?) And since in my head Joe looks an awful lot like Thor, I'm not going to mind hanging out with my new bestie and her beau at all :)
Seriously, why have I never read anything by Kylie Scott before? Must remedy ASAP.
Twist worked absolutely fine as a standalone. Other book characters--both from this series and (briefly, oh-so-briefly but they're there) Scott's Stage Dive series make appearances, but you don't have to have read their books to appreciate this one. Chances are you'll want to read them, though--if you're like me, this urge will hit around page, oh--five, maybe?--because, holy schmoly, this is some fun reading. Heck, I even want to read Eric's (upcoming) book, and he wasn't anywhere close to my favorite secondary character. If anyone can change my mind about him, it's probably Ms. Scott.
Rating: 4 1/2 stars / A
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Another winner for me from Kylie Scott. I liked Alex from the minute she appeared on the page. She was an awesome mix of confidence, humor, and insecurity. I also like the way Joe was a good guy without being a pushover. The two characters acted like adults and actually TALKED about things! Go figure! I liked all the secondary characters - except Eric. I also appreciated the fact there wasn't drama for the sake of drama, and misunderstandings were quickly addressed. Can't wait for the next one in the series.
Alexandra Marie Parks, or Alex, arrives at Eric Collins' birthday party wishing to make a big surprise, but she didn't even think she would be surprised...
Alex and Eric wrote to each other for several months. They met through a social networking site. They exchanged confidences, ideas, plans. Alex fell in love with Eric's emails and photos. But upon arriving at the Dive Bar, she discovered Eric wasn't the man she was exchanging emails with, it was Joe, his brother.
Alex was very upset. As she run away out of the bar, she got rain and a bad flu.
Feeling guilty, Joe offered to take care of her.
On the days she's been in Idaho, she knew Joe's friends, and she liked everyone. Even Eric, who at first behaved like a bastard, soon became sociable with her.
And once again Alex fell in love. With Joe.
But they lived so far apart, had their jobs, their friends, how could they make that feeling grow?
A story that catches everyone by surprise, Alex and the readers.
Joe was a nice, hard-working guy who could not say no to anyone. With Alex, in the emails, he could be himself. He hid nothing... except his own identity. But who would be interested in him when Eric was much more charismatic?
Throughout the reading, you fall in love with Joe, as Alex.
One helps the other in their weaknesses; One support the other, and when they have to say goodbye, the reader is the one who gets a broken heart ...
Great reading.
5 stars
This is the only Kylie Scott series that I have read. But if all of her others series are this good I may have my entire summer reading planned out.
This is such a fun series; I really love these characters. I love when friends fall in love. The build up between these two was perfect.
Alex is finally meeting her online pen pal who she met months ago on a dating site. They get along well and have formed a friendship. So when she meets Joe instead of Eric, who she is, suppose to meet she feels betrayed. Eric is Joe’s brother and set up the account and never used it.
Joe had a way of making Alex feel comfortable and letting her get to know the real him.
The way their friendship builds and then slowly turned into more was perfect. Although at one point I was so mad. Thankfully that didn’t last long. This had some funny moments and some heart felt ones as well. The characters I just loved and the banter between them. If you love friends to lover stories this is one you don’t want to miss.
I am a fan of Kylie Scott and enjoyed this book.
How embarrassing to pick up and fly to another state to surprise a man you met online only to find out that it is not the person you thought he was, but his brother?
Alex, a graphic designer, meets a man on the internet and decides to surprise him for his birthday. What she doesn't expect is his brother. Eric, the man she thought it would be, is beautiful, but nothing like the e-mail exchanged they shared and he has no idea what she is talking about.
His brother, Joe, though does. He is a bartender at the bar and a carpenter. He was the last thing that Alex expected when she started this journey.
An unexpected incident happens which curtails Alex hopping on the next plane and Joe is there. Can their witty banter and sarcasm turn into something more? As they try to build on something, a unexpected guest arrives and turns their fragile friendship around.

Twist is the second title in the Dive Bar series, but it can easily be read as a standalone. This was my first time reading Kylie Scott's worked and I can see myself becoming hooked by this series.
Twist is Joe Collins and Alex Parks story. A pair of complex, realistic and endearing characters with deep seated insecurities and neurosis. Joe is sweet, caring, reliable, hardworking, loyal and tries his best to please everyone around him. He is a true gentleman, the full package despite his mountain man appearance. Alex is quirky, a commitment phobic, smart and sassy.
A friends to lovers story with depth, and filled with ups and downs, and twists and turns. I thoroughly enjoyed watching the friendship and relationship between Joe and Alex develop. Their witty banter and interactions were fun, flirty and humorous. Overall an entertaining, engaging, sweet, sexy and steamy contemporary romance, that I have no hesitation in recommending.
Alex and Joe were a hot mess! She's neurotic and he's not the man she expected to meet. They certainly are a pair that make for an interesting story. It was laugh out loud funny! The humor was actually the main selling point for me.
Here's the breakdown: Alex is determined to break out of her shell and meet her long distance email pen pal. She travels to his hometown to surprise him, but ends up with the surprise of her life. The man she thought she'd been communicating with all these months has no idea who she is.
Here's what I enjoyed: The humor! Alex is hilarious. All her little idiosyncrasies had me laughing out loud. I don't think I've read a character quite like her. It was refreshing.
The supporting character and family drama was entertaining. OMG! The match-making schemes were so funny!
I liked Joe's character, but he didn't really get my motor revving. He was a bit too sweet and gentle. I also didn't like the way he handled the conflict. I get it, but didn't love it.
Overall, this is a witty and engaging story with heart. I laughed, I cried, and was completely entertained. My only issues were my slight problem with the conflict and the slowburn at the beginning of the book. Other than that, if you like sweet heroes and quirky heroines this book is for you!
I rate it 3.75 - 4 Stars
This was the second book in the Dive Bar series and while it can be read as a stand alone, I would personally recommend reading Dirty first.
Twist was a sweet, sexy and humorous romance but this book is laced with some palpable drama and real feels that will pull at the heartstrings. I really was pulled into this story by both characters and I just adored them. I really enjoyed this book and now we have a feel for all of our characters, I feel that this series is just going to get better and better.
I was provided with a copy of this book from the Publisher via NetGalley; there was no inducement or obligation.
I'm really loving this series. In Twist we get Joe and Alex's story. Since we, kinda, met these two in Dirty, I think I felt a connection to these two before I even opened the book. It's a great unconventional romance that I think we can all relater to these days.
Joe and Alex are friends online but they have never met in person. When Alex decides to take their relationship to the next level she's shocked and disappointed at what she finds. Will she give the bad boy with the tattoos and long hair a chance? After all, he's not her usually type.
I loved Alex. She's shy and guarded but sh'e also strong and independent. Watching the these two fumble through their first couple of meetings was definitely entertaining and left me with a smile. The banter was fun and the chemistry is off the charts.
Kylie Scott did not disappoint. Twist is a great addition to the series and I can't wait to see where the next one goes.

Twist is the second installment of the Dive Bar series by Kylie Scott.
Joe Collins only reason to be on his younger brothers dating site was to drag the cursor over the “delete account” button, but that all changed when he read about Alex Parks. She’s exactly what he’s looking for…but will she accept him instead of his brother?
Alex Park has been chatting up a storm between Eric, but when she finally decides to surprise him, she find out he not only doesn’t know her, but he’s the wrong brother she’s been emailing for months. Instead, it was his older brother, Joe… And when she finally lays eyes on him, she bolts straight out of the Dive Bar.
Will Alex be able to give Joe a chance or has she already written him off?
Twist was amazing! The development of the relationship between Alex and Joe was fantastic. I love that every email became more personal. Not only did these characters get to know each other, but we did too. When Alex decided to go to Dive Bar, I officially her cheerleader, rooting her to go get her man. However, I feel like I would also be that friend where your trying to knock some sense into her. To just, give Joe a chance. I mean, he’s a HUNK!!! Anyways, back to the story. Kylie Scott did an amazing job..no. A terrific job building not only a strong connection between the characters, but also for the readers. I enjoyed every banter, email and challenge they had to over come. Also, the sex scene, was amazing. It wasn’t overly done, but it also wasn’t swept under the rug. Just right, without taking anything away from the main story.
I highly recommend the Dive Bar series! I mean these men are so worth the wait and time.
Twist is the second book in the Dive Bar Series. Although it can be read as a stand-alone, I highly recommend reading it after Dirty to fully grasp the depth of the relationships between the characters in this series.
Alex Parks is a successful woman looking for love. When she sparks a connection with someone on an online dating site, she takes the plunge, and an online relationship begins. Imagine her surprise when she goes to meet her online love in person and discovers it was all a lie.
Joe Collins didn’t mean any harm by taking over his brother Eric’s online dating profile. When Alex shows up at the bar to meet Eric, everything explodes in his face. Joe is attracted to Alex, and although he was deceptive at the start of their relationship, he wants nothing more than for Alex to give him a chance. Alex is easily spooked, and it takes a while for her to trust Joe. Joe and Alex are quite a mismatched pair when this “lumberjack” falls in love with sophisticated Alex. As Alex and Joe form a friendship, the physical attraction between the two explodes, and they can’t keep their hands off of each other. Just when it seems that things are headed in the right direction, tragedy strikes and Joe and Alex are torn apart. It will take everything they have to find their way back together again.
Twist had all of the elements that I love from a Kylie Scott read. Complex characters, smoking hot scenes, emotional depth, and a rock solid plot. The only distraction in Twist for me occurred towards the end of the read. Joe made some surprising choices that made me feel sad for Alex. Although, I felt she handled herself the best that she could it took away from my overall happy feelings for the book. Obviously, characters are flawed, and book are often a reflection of life, however, in this case, I wish Joe had been a little stronger for Alex. Although he redeems himself in the end, this element of the drama wasn’t my favorite part of the read. A happy addition to the read was the supporting characters and the development of Nell and Pat and of course ERIC!!!!! I am truly hooked on this series, and I cannot wait to see what happens next!
Overall, Twist is another winning creation by Kylie Scott. With hilarious text and a smoking hot romance, Alex and Joe are sure to offer you hours of entertainment.
I received a copy in exchange for an honest review!
In classic Kylie Scott style Twist is hilarious, sexy and really flipping sweet!
You know all the stories about not trusting in someone you meet on the Internet because everybody lies? Well that's exactly the situation Alex finds herself in after deciding to track down her online friend Eric. Eric is in fact his brother Joe who has been inadvertently catfishing her.
Alex takes a huge and uncharacteristic leap of faith when she decides to surprise Eric. It kinda backfires when she discovers that Eric knows nothing about her and that she's actually been talking/online dating Joe. Now before you get all cross about Joe's antics, I'm going to mention that he didn't intentionally trick Alex, and does feel terrible about lying to to her.
I really liked Alex. I have to admit was expecting to find her eagerness to travel across the country after some guy a little annoying, but although she's a little closed off at times, I found her extremely endearing and funny.
Joe is super swoon worthy. I loved the whole blond haired, rugged, sexy giant thing he had going on. He's totally loyal and really selfless! He made me smile, rant and of course blush - I really liked him as a character but I loved them together.
Kylie Scott always writes good banter and Twist is no exception. Alex and Joe totally knock it out of the park with their one-liners, arguing and flirting. I'm really looking forward to what happens next...
4.5 Stars in my Sky!
I really really loved and enjoyed Twist. I was hooked from the moment I opened to the first chapter, This book to me had a different feel to it then the others did but in a super good way. Just loved the feel of the characters Joe and Alex. Felt like they were perfect for each other and there chemistry was great! Didn't really love Joe's brother Eric, in this one. Felt like he was a total douche! But I got why more towards then end of this book and I can't wait to read his book!
Alex and Eric have been talking online for a few months. Although they live in different states, they're very close and share almost everything with each other. When Eric's birthday approaches, Alex decides to surprise him and finally visit and meet him in person. But what she doesn't expect is finding out that she's not been talking with Eric, but with Joe, Eric's brother. Feeling humiliated and embarrassed, she leaves. Unexpectedly, she's forced to stay in Coeur d'Alene and be around Joe. They soon start to get to know each other as Alex and Joe. But will she forgive and forget what he did?
I loved Twist! The story is funny, sweet, and sexy, with a dash of drama. I laughed, cried, and screamed with the characters. Twist hooked me from the first page and I couldn't stop reading. I loved the banter between Alex and Joe and how their relationship developed, even though it all started with Joe's lie.
I also loved Nell and Patrick's story and the past online conversations between Alex and Joe.
Alex is a sweet and smart young woman. She's very independent and knows what she wants in a man. That's until she meets Joe. She's been hurt in the past and hates liars, so Joe's lie really messes with her.
Joe is a very intense man, but also very sweet. He does everything to help his loved ones, even when he should say no. When he saw Alex picture online and her message, he liked her and decided to write back as his brother.
Kylie Scott gives us an amazing story with awesome characters. Her writing style is perfect and she can easily makes us connect with the characters, making us feel what they're feeling and cheer for them. I can't wait to read Eric's book!
