DI Jessica Daniel has many things to deal with in this story. Two prisoners escape in a planned crash while being transported, alleged break-ins in a pensioners home, the deaths in a Manchester crime family, bare knuckle fight nights, and a thief preying on the elderly, all intertwine with her personal life in which her fiance Adam in a coma, she questions her relationship with Archie Davey, and being there for Bex. All the threads are well controlled so they intertwine in a way that keeps the reader on track. The suspense grabs you in the prologue and continues
with tension right to the end. The characters are very realistic with compelling dialogue. Jessica and her team are among my favorite investigators and once again have proved they are up to all the challenges they are given.
Well plotted, and brilliantly executed, if it had not been for the cliff-hanger ending it would have been perfect.
