A sweet story, it felt a little slow at times however it all came together. I didn't read the other books in the series so that definitely played a part on being a little confusing. I will be going back to read the first two in this series, it is a good read. The way the writer plots the story line is thoughtful and well written to get your attention.

I'm always up for a Ella Quinn romance. This was a fun, fast paced novella, with two really interesting characters --Patience and Richard. Their romance was fun and the second chance at love was a wonderful storyline. I loved that they were a little older than the routine h/H. I did feel that their initial visit to bed was a little early, and a little too much time was spent on descriptions of the sex. I prefer to allow my imagination do a little work, and found it too descriptive. Other than that, the story was interesting and inline with most of Ella Quinn's wonderful, fantastical writings. Four and a half stars!

It's Mama's turn. Patience Worthington has been a constant fixture in the previous books in this series. She has been seen as the mother of four girls, a widow though only 36, and kind of a background stable. Little did we know she had a long lost love before her marriage to the Earl of Worthington. They were childhood sweethearts but she was too young so he sought adventure and promised to return before her come out, only he did not. Now he has returned to her life once again. What will she do about Richard Wolverton? This is a nice read, sort of a fill in between the books about the younger set. I so enjoy reading about this blended family, since I come from one as well though not as large. Like this family we tended to pair out according to age and interests, making this family scenario very plausible. Again I say a very enjoyable read.

Nice, steamy novella with mature characters (35 and 40), a "caught out in the rain" trope and the realities of Regency custody arrangements for widowed women.

A very sweet novella about second chance love. Twenty years have separated our couple but their love has never left either of them.

I received an ARC copy of this book from NetGalley.

Sadly this is a DNF book as I just couldn't get into this book. I have tried for a few months to get into it and just can’t seem to connect and get interested.

I know other people will give a book a bad/low mark for being a DNF, but as an author myself I know how bad that feels. So I hope my no score is less painful. I’m not going to score this book as I don’t want to give it a bad score - as I don’t feel it deserves one. Nor do I want to give it a high score for the same reason.

Basically, this book was not for me. There is nothing wrong with the writing; I just couldn’t get into it. From other reviews I have read, people have loved this book. To me that proves it’s good… for the right audience.

This does not make it a bad book, and I really want to emphasise this. Despite not liking it and not being able to get into it, I did see potential. I, the reader, and this book just weren’t matched and I refuse to mark it down because of my own faults. :-)

This was an enjoyable quick read. Patience is a widow whose step-son has custody of her children. Although they have a really great relationship, he would never give up custody if she should ever remarry. Resigned to a lonely widowhood, Patience plans to enjoy her eldest daughter's coming out. That all changes when her first love comes back into her life. Will Patience take a chance of love when it could mean loosing everything else she hold dear?

I enjoyed reading how Patience finally got her HEA as we knew from reading the other books in the series that her first marriage was not great. It was also nice to read a story about an older couple that had some life experiences to help shapes their lives.

I really enjoyed this read. You do not often read about widows nor hear about the struggles they face especially if they have children. This was such a nice story of love that unfortunately was put on hold for years until Richard and Patience were able rekindle. I liked the conference of characters to determine what would happen and the decision that was made.

I have to check out the rest of The Worthingtons series!!

This is a fast paced romantic story that makes you glad you live in these modern times. Richard is kind and thoughtful, but also determined to marry Patience. Patience is loving and mellow, she wants Richard, but also wants her children. Matt is a hard character. He seems like a really great guy, but he is not willing to let Patience have her children. That makes it hard to like or dislike him. The children are amusing and very mature. It's a quick, romantic tale.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from NetGalley. This is my honest opinion of it.

I read two Ella Quinn’s in the wrong order. (Ella Quinn not to be confused with Julia Quinn), so the beginning of this was more than a little confusing with rather a lot of characters (including 12 children) which made me boggle somewhat. Patience is a widower with four children from a loveless marriage. Richard, Viscount Wolverton lost her many years earlier, entirely due to carelessness on his part. Now he’d like to marry Pae, but her four children are officially the wards of her stepson and she’ll lose them if she marries. Complications abound even though sitting the characters down together and making them talk would solve everything. But, hey, it’s a fast read and even though you know everything will be all right in the end it keeps you guessing as to how. This is a confusingly numbered series, however, which doesn’t seem to include this one – though it obviously is.

Patience would never think of marrying again. Her brother Matthew is a fellow guardian of her children and they love their cousins so much she couldn't think of it. When her former paramour Richard, Viscount Wolverton comes back around, however, she cannot deny her feelings for him. And Richard is determined to make Patience his, no matter what the cost.

A sweet regency romance with some passion.

This book is a regency romance. The description pulled me in hook, line and sinker. I learned a little along the way as well. This is a novella, so it's a quick read. This can be read as a stand alone if you dare. There are people, places and relationships that would be more clear with the reading of prior books in the series. I have not read the prior books and I was fine - it all depends on the reader. There is some sex, no violence and a happily ever after.

Ella Quinn has created a book that is the epitome of tearjerker and history lesson. It's a bit sad for the soft hearted and it's a hard lesson in regency England's history regarding equal rights of women. The romance was something legends are made. The kind of story with never ending love that haunts castles was what I felt between Patience and Richard.

We all know that in history women aren't always treated fairly. I'm not very educated in the ways and means of life in the 1800's England, but when a mother can't even have guardianship over her own children when her husband passes-it's a sad situation. Be sure to grab tissues, because I know I shed plenty of tears over this story. That's not to say it wasn't an enjoyable read. It's one of those stories that gets my emotional neurons firing.

Luckily, this story has a a good guy for a guardian of his half siblings and his step mother. If he was half the man his father was, Patience would still be miserable. Matt, Patience's step son, was the shining example of a good man that most men hope to be. Richard, the love of Patience's life, was the man that was stuck between a rock and a hard place. I was grateful to see in this case, family really DOES do for family.

This book is part of The Worthingtons Series, 2.5 to be exact. After reading just this book, although I always recommend reading a series from the beginning, this could be considered a stand-a-lone. However, I do think it's best to read the series because by this book the characters are well developed (unless you don't mind).
This story though, Patience has been through a lot. There are also the kids to consider. The kids that Matt (son from prior marriage) is guardian over. If she remarries, those kids would not go with her. So, remarry and lose them or fall in love again? I did really enjoy this novella, although I would really like to read the two previous books as well. However, I do wish there was a slower buildup to Richard's and Patience' relationship. It felt bit rushed and way too fast to be realistic. I think it is fascinating and so much fun how she not only incorporated real historical facts into her fictional book(s) as well as adding all the historical information into her book. Thank God that is not how it is now!

I admit, I scarcely remember the h in this book from the prior books. But I enjoyed reading a story about an older couple, as most regency romances involve an ingenue and a rake, he far older than she. The h of this story is torn between her children, who are wards of her stepson, and marriage to her childhood beau. Her stepson is an honorable man, but not willing to allow the h to assume the responsibility of her children. She has proven to be irresponsible with her funds, and unable to manage a budget. It's a quick, light read, and quite charming.

This is a novella that I fervently wish it was a full fledged novel, it was that good! I do hope y’all will read the first two books in this series because you’ll get a much better picture of these characters.

I just love it when authors give me mature, solid characters. They make the plot so much juicier, as is the case with Patience and Richard. Throughout the story you’ll be wondering will she, or will he?!

I have to say that second chance at romance are my favorite tropes and this one was so well told that it will melt your hearts and curl your toes.

It has been several months since I read the first book in this series, THREE WEEKS TO WED, where we are introduced to Matt and Grace's story. I had a hard time figuring out who was who in THE SECOND TIME AROUND. Within the first couple of paragraphs, several characters were introduced and it made it difficult to follow. The heroine, Patience, now a widow living under her step-son Matt's roof with her 4 daughters has loved Richard Wolverton her whole life. Now 20 years later, he's back in her life and she finds that she still loves him. Richard has never forgiven himself for letting Patience get away and is determined to win her back again.

While the writing was well-done, the story is quite bland. Not much happens. There is one "evil" guy, but he is dispatched so quickly, it almost didn't make sense to include him in the story. I find Ms. Quinn's writing to be lacking in any kind of suspense of what will or will not happen next--everything is so nice and a bit boring. I'm all for happily ever after, but I'd prefer to read stories with a bit more meat to them.

The Second Time Around by Ella Quinn is all about a second chance for love. Patience had buried her husband and dedicated her life to raising their four daughters. Unfortunately, her husband left the guardianship to his eldest son (prior marriage) so that mean Patience would not be able to be married again and still live with her daughters. A hard choice that was not a choice as she loved her daughters. The choice became a double edged sword when Richard came back into the picture. He was her first love, but not her parents choice. Richard, Viscount Wolverton was not going to waste any more time, but what does that do to life with her daughters?

The Second Time Around by Ella Quinn was a shorter novel that did not revisit the past but moved forward from where Patience and Richard met again. It was a fun sexy novel.

This is second chance love story of Patience, the dowager Countess of Worthington was in love with Richard, Viscount Wolverton several years ago and had hoped to marry him. Richard went on a World Tour and he had promised Patience he would return for her coming out ball but when he did return it was too late Patience was days away from marrying and older man and her family refused to allow her to know he had returned. They never forgot each other over the last 19 years. Patience the widow agrees to spend some time with Richard even though she’s still hurt he never returned to marry her as promised. She plans to see him and then walk away she doesn’t see a future for them, but Richard is determined he will not lose the love of his life a second time. A novella with a great second chance romance in only 105 pages.
I received an ARC copy from Net Galley and this is my honest opinion and review.

I love historical novels and Ella Quinn in particular, her stories are original and very engaging. I really loved this story of love between two people no longer young.
Richard and Patience were in love but he felt the need to travel and know the world. When he returned she was going to marry the Earl of Worthington and her parents didn't allow him to approach her. Now she is a widow and free to fall in love again, even though she lives with her stepson because her daughters are under his protection. If she marry again will have to leave them to live with him. Who can marry a widow with four daughters if not her first love? But worth the risk of losing her daughters forever?
The protagonists are well characterized, adorable, believable, and their attraction to each other sizzled. I loved them from the first page.
It can be read as a standalone but I recommend reading the series in order to better appreciate the plot.
An engaging, delightful and brilliant Regency Romance of a second chance in love.
