I'm not a big romance reader but this was terrific, turning some tropes on their heads and fast-paced. Loved the heroine and you have to root for her. I never knew romance could be so suspenseful!

Super entertaining debut novel from Kari Lemor. I thought the characters were real & unique & it was fun rooting for their HEA.

I will be reading more by this author.

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

Wild Card Undercover is a thrill-a-minute romance that throws together Meg, a "damsel-in-distress," with Chris, an undercover FBI agent. But this damsel is smart and has a huge hand in her own rescue--and maybe Meg will end up saving Chris as well. From the first moment these two meet, there's a crackling chemistry that they recognize. Working undercover, they have to pretend to be romantically involved which puts them each in doubt of how reciprocal their feelings are. They both have powerful reasons to stifle the romance before it takes off, but they fit together so perfectly, you can't help root for them to overcome the obstacles and finally get together. But those obstacles include some super shady bad guys and a whole lot of good guy ethical rules. All of that keeps the tension taut until the last page.

This is the first in Lemor's Love on the Line trilogy. I'm looking forward to the next in the series.

First time I've read this author and I highly enjoyed reading this book. Chris is undercover working to put away a big time criminal in Miami. He meets Meg, who he convinces to help him out. Meg is desperate to get out of working in the club owned by the criminal. Of course, there was a lot of disgusting people who Meg had to deal with every night she worked. The working relationship between the two was quite profitable, but the personal relationship was fun to watch. They were incredibly attracted to each other, but had to stay professional. It was nice to see their relationship grow and develop. I felt as if it could really work out and they could get their HE A.

Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC.

Wild Card Undercover is a romantic thriller with mobsters, FBI and undercover police by Kari Lemor. The setting is in Miami where it is hot most of the time, but even hotter working in a club owned by Salazar Moreno. His reputation and treatment of women is deplorable. Meg (Katie) is forced into waitressing for him at his club, where she is pinched and pawed by the scum who come to the club, until she meets Chris Shaunessy. He is FBI and undercover, but he cannot allow Meg to continue her path. Chris moves her into his suite, where she is safer during nonworking hours. Daily she goes into work helping Chris gather information, no matter how dangerous it is for her and then it gets hotter.

Kari Lemor’s newest book Wild Card Undercover mixes romance with mobsters and FBI. Hold on.

I enjoyed book, however I think it was entirely too many words that were unnecessary. Could have finished book way earlier if we did not write about everything. I got that the patrons of bar were perverts, and I got that Heroine was constantly, ogled, leered at and felt up, but we read time and time again. Then we have the Hero, who had to remain professional even though he was attracted to Katie (h) but we read it time and time again. Besides the repetition, it kept you interested.

in wild card undercover, meg o'hara has had a crappy two years. lured out to miami by her ex, he managed to go deep into debt to a local crime lord, salazar moreno. and somehow he skipped town and left her to pay the bill. under threat and trapped in servitude she's managed to keep from prostituting herself, even though she'd pay the debt off faster. she ran away from her family to come to miami, and doesn't want to endanger them or go back and prove she's the disaster they all thought she was.

when she first meets christopher shaunessy she's just hoping to avoid trouble with the pool manager of the hotel she crashed. he goes along with her ploy because he wants to see where it will go, because he's attracted to her, but also because he can stop himself from trying to make things right. he's an fbi agent, sent undercover to observe the very crime lord meg is working for. when he figures this out he convinces meg to share information that she is in the perfect position to overhear, given the fact that she is often asked to serve drinks during moreno's exclusive poker games.

chris and meg pretend that they are dating as a cover for their handler/informant relationship. but chris realizes early on that this is a dangerous game that he is playing. he cares about meg, he's attracted to her. he wants to protect her and free her from the terrible situation she's gotten herself in. but this is an investigation that has been building for over three years, there are other characters who have been in deep cover who's identities are at stake if this all goes belly up.

their romance is intertwined with the plot to take down moreno. it's what brings these them together, and yet even in the midst of a high-risk investigation chris and meg find ways to connect beyond the scope of their undercover work. it's one of the things that makes everything so tenuous, there are real feelings between them and those feelings puts them both in danger. when everything blows up, it raises the stakes exponentially because they care about each other. meg isn't an expendable eyewitness, she's someone he wants to protect. she believes in him. and that probably scares him most of all.

one thing i also appreciated was that once meg was out of danger, the author gives both chris and meg some time to heal and figure out if their feelings are real or if they were only intensified because of their forced proximity. we get to see the real meg, the one who isn't running scared for her life and worried about protecting her family from the threat of a dangerous man. and we also get to see who chris is outside of an fbi agent. those glimpses of their real selves made the relationship more real.

5 Sweetie Stars! Ok- make that 5 Muffin Stars! Or could I say make that 5 Muffin Sweetie Stars! Either way this was such an intriguing read that lack of sleep is fine today!

I am so thrilled to read this book by [author:Kari Lemor|9756283] and must say that she is an amazing author/storyteller. Her words come across as you are in the story and not just with your mind, but your whole heart.

When Meg O'Hara decides to take a week trip to Miami with a bad-boy boyfriend, she never imagined she would be abandoned by the weasel and stranded with a crime boss. Hiding her identity for the safety of her family, Meg becomes Katie and waitresses her way to repaying an impossible debt. Stuck in a roach motel, fighting off sticky hands of customers and unwanted advances of her boss and his gross friends, Meg is way in over her head and too broke to do anything about it.

Sexy Chris Shaunessy, aka Chris Martin, is an FBI agent trying to take down the powerful Salazar Moreno. His hero complex kicks in and in an attempt to keep Meg in a safe environment he offers her protection for her services as an informant. Meg can't refuse the offer due to her dire circumstances and soon is able to freely eat cookies and milk, hang out with the sexy Chris aka muffin and fake a romance that doesn't take much effort in scorching kisses and sweet nicknames.

But- Can Chris keep Meg safe while she is in the hands of men who only see women as play objects, ready to discard them when they don't bend to their every desire? Chris is tormented to make sure this informant stays safe all the while trying to maintain a professional relationship and not give in to his feelings or desires for Meg. Meg knows all the touching, kissing and affection are part of the role of being undercover with Chris, but what if it isn't just that? What if there is something else to it? Is it just her or does Chris feel the same?

Intriguing and dangerous- when it comes to the take down- Kari Lemor kept the pace fast and heart wrenching. Sweet and laced with sexy banter- the entire story was emotional and Chris and Meg were a dynamic couple.

Kari Lemor will be an author on my must read list!
