Wes was a deputy and in the Scarlet Garter Saloon finishing a beer then he planned on going home and have some roast beef a lady had dropped off for rescuing her cat. But then a tall woman came in pointing a gun and eventually shooting it yelling for Orville who had been playing the piano at the saloon. The woman claimed Orville did her wrong he had killed her best friend Chuck- her dog- and stolen her money. The woman’s name was Lisa-Ann and she continued to shot the gun but only getting a mirror and bottles of whiskey. Wes had no choice but to arrest her and she still fought him and fired a gun at him but luckily again missed. Wes didn’t want to get interested in Lisa-Ann his dream girl was a gentle woman of cultured and conversation. It turns out Lisa-Ann's father and grandmother were dead and her mother was in prison and that left Lisa-Ann on her on and she had to be tough to even survive. She did like anyone to know she had her own vulnerabilities. She couldn’t appear vulnerable. Wes went to Orville’s sister's house the night before Lisa - Ann was to go to court and she gave Wes a box and Lisa-Ann described it as part of her family history. That was when Wes knew Lisa-Ann was telling the truth and he was going to help her. Wes offers Lisa-Ann to keep his home until she settles her debt. Wes is attracted to Lisa-Ann.
I really enjoyed this book. It was a short, funny loveable story. I also liked the way Lisa-Ann spoke I just found the old fashioned way interesting. I liked the plot as well as the pace. I didn’t want to put this book down, it definitely held my attention from start until finish. I really liked Lisa-Ann and felt bad she had been struggling all alone with just her dog Chuck. I was glad when wes decided to help Lisa-Ann. I really liked Lisa-Ann and Wes together even if they were opposites. This book made me laugh at times and that is always good. I really enjoyed this romance. I loved the characters and the ins and outs and I recommend. I wish I could have rated this 4.5.

This is an amusing story with some strange and interesting characters. Lisa-Ann is a gun toting tough girl when she's mad, but very sweet and calm when she's not mad. Wes is a gentleman who is not quite a gentleman, he's charming and entertaining with a wicked mind. It's a sweet and clean book.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from Netgalley. This is my honest opinion of it.

This was a fun read. Lisa-Ann comes in guns blazing and ends up in jail. Wes is the sheriff and had to carry out his duty. As they talk and spend time together, they draw closer to each other. Their lives do not run smoothly as danger and secrets abound. Lisa-Ann is not your typical heroine and fights to prove who she really is. Wes is a sweet man, honest and understanding. He fights for Lisa-Ann and what is right. I recommend this story.

I received a copy of this story through Netgalley, and this is my unsolicited review.

Review By Rose for Love Romance Books
I give this book 3.5 stars

I was given this book for an honest review...
This was an easy read. I felt that there was really not enough time for them to fall for each other. It just seemed that he was with her for one evening in the jail and then all of a sudden he was madly in love with her.
He could not believe that this woman was there to kill a man just for the sake of killing him. He wanted to know why she wanted to kill him but Wes did not want to get to involved with her. He had another deputy come and sit with her so he could get away from her. He knew she was hazardous to his stable life. However, he just could not help himself.
Lisa- Ann just wanted someone to listen to her and to let her out of the cold jail. No one really heard the full story until she went to court. When she got to court she did not have an attorney. The judge asked if any one wanted to help and Wes , volunteered. She did not know that Wes went to her intended targets home and met with his sister before the trial. Orville's sister gave Wes a box. Wes did not know what the box meant until Lisa-Ann described the box as being part of her family history. That was when Wes knew she was telling the truth. Wes, had to to help her at this point . He knew she had good reason to go after Orville. You have too finish the book to see what happens and to see who mysteriously shows back up!

His Rip-Roaring Bride by Martha Hix
Texan Brides #2

Lisa-Ann Wilkins has suffered more wrongs than most with a mother in jail, her inheritance stolen and a loved one or two killed. When she finds out where one culprit might be hiding she is off to get revenge. Who should she run into as she tries to get justice but Sheriff Wes Alington. With a trial, penalty and money to pay back she is stuck in town for some time and during that time love and other things find her.

I had hopes for this novella and love to read books by new-to-me authors but for some reason I found this book unbelievable, silly and rather shallow. That said – I know there are people who enjoy a good “spoof” of a story with a bit of a twist so would recommend it to those readers even though it is not a story that I really enjoyed.

Thank you to NetGalley and Kensington Books – Lyrical for the ARC. This is my honest review.

His Rip-Roarin' Bride is so true to its name. A laugh out load, rambunctious and feel good read, with by the book lawman, a wild and free-spirited female and a whole lotta love!

While this is only a short story, still make sure you have no interruptions, as you won’t out it down till the very end.

Found this storyline was pretty ordinary... even for a novella. The book was so short that I was often confused on where the author was trying to lead the reader. Perhaps a longer story to bring out the characters better would improve the overall story.
