I ended buying this book, but I found myself stalling on finishing it. I want to try again, but I don't know when I will.
Another fantastic instalment to this new series, I really enjoyed this one maybe even more then the 1st one. I know right.. who would have thought. I love that the author is an Aussie, and I love that this series is shifters and I love the way the author tells us this story and how we just cant not stop reading to see what happens. I am not one for long reviews, unless I need to vent or praise but in the end if it ticks all my boxes its a winner for me! I think everyone who loves to read Paranormal and UF romance this is a great new series to pick up and try!
While in book one I got the biggest kick out of the reference to Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, the reference in this book was even funnier. The best line for me in the book was after Lorcan asked Clay to train Tommi with guns that day. "Without a second glimpse at Lorcan I followed after Clay as he began a chorus of 'Tommi's got a gun.'" Once again, Maria Lewis has me unable to stop laughing at that line. This was after Tommi went to the convenience store and picked up a variety of newspapers. What was she looking for in the newspapers? What did Lorcan do when he started looking at the photographs in the newspapers and listening to Sanjay read the article that was written in German? How did Tommi find out about the article and how did she know it was in the newspapers? What did she tell Sanajay and Lorcan about her run-in with Officer Dick at the hospital and then again when Sanjay and Tommi were walking back home from getting food? Who are the female twins that surprise Tommi in the apartment one evening? What happens? Who are they? What are they there for? What does Lorcan know about the situation? What is going on with Tommi and Lorcan? Will they ever figure it out? What is going on with the news article in the papers? Read and find out!!!! I really hope that there is a book three coming to this series because it totally rocked! Loved the action, mystery, thrills, and suspense in this book.

I’m always up for finding a new urban fantasy author so when I came across Maria Lewis’Who’s Afraid, Too? I was practically salivating. I couldn’t wait to dive in. And I did, without reading the first book. I know I know, this is bad juju especially in this genre. But Lewis didn’t leave me hanging much, I had a few questions about what was going on but overall it read almost like a standalone within a series. That being said, I still want to read the first book. This was a brilliant work with some amazing world building but I can’t help but feel that I missed out on some great stuff in the previous book.
Tommi Grayson is a werewolf, apparently a rather new one at that. She’s a soul sister in that she’s rather sarcastic, a bit of a lone wolf and pretty independent. I liked her immediately. And I loved that she could kick some major butt. We need more books with strong heroines in them. I loved the secondary characters as well. Lorcan seems like the brooding, silent type. He definitely comes off with some alpha tendencies that make me drool. And I loved getting to know the Rogues. Each character was complex with their own intricacies that brought them to life in my head. Clay was definitely a favorite of mine.
All in all, this was a fabulous read. Plenty of action, intrigue and mystery to keep me engaged and captivated. It was like taking a rollercoaster ride in a labyrinth. Action-packed, fast paced and full of twists and turns. It was definitely a nice switch up from all the romance I’ve been reading lately. If you’re new to the urban fantasy scene, this might just be a good series to wet your teeth on. If you’re already a fan, it’s definitely worth a look too. I can’t wait to see what happens next.
*** I voluntarily reviewed this book, Via Netgalley, I gained no monetary incentives nor was I specifically requested to review the book, these are my honest ramblings and I hope you enjoy reading them - kat***
Loved it and I am now wanting book 3.
Tommi is getting to grips with her new life, missing her best friends and trying not to feel too responsible for their deaths. Tommi is a very level headed character, most people would be freaking out, but she is taking each day as it comes and trying to catch up with what it means to be a “Lone Wolf” Lorcan is, as usual brooding and mysterious, Hottie, and the Lone wolves in Berlin were an interesting bunch.
Lorcan and the Berlin crew give Tommi space to collect herself and learn how to utilise her new skills, already being good at martial arts helped a bit, but she also finds new talents.
When the group come across some disturbing kidnappings, Tommi won't let it go when she finds out what really is happening, this leads to a fight that the Berlin crew will have a hard time winning... lines are drawn, hearts are broken... overall it was a great sequel.
The mystical old man really has me intrigued, Tommi's own "Mr. Miyagi", I hope we see from him again!
I am enjoying this series I hope the conclusion is out soon
This is my first time in reading this author but it is one of my favorite genres-paranormal. I was a bit intrigued when I first started this one because of where it was going with Tommi. Then when she is found out after her conversation with mystery guy at book store I am more than intrigued. It did take me a minute to get lassoed but when I did then entranced I became. Not too much in the romance department but bits of fast hotness. The story that unravels though will more than make up for that. The evil that unfolds is bold with also her abilities that come to surface. The story is one that keeps you on your toes not knowing what will come out next. You will also get thrown against the wall with your breath knocked out by who really is behind it all. The ending is different with you wanting to be included on the next round.
A great follow up to Who's Afraid!Tommi is a wonderful main character.Snarky, smart, fesity and tough enough to deal with situations.I also love the world building in the series and how the author keeps developing it.After Tommi learnt more about her heritage and powers, her life has drastically changed.
And even though she wants to escape, she is able to enjoy her peace and quiet only for a short while before she is dragged back again.Tommi and her friends have a great task ahead of themselves.
This book was just as enjoyable as the first!Action packed, with a dash of romance.I kept turning the pages as I was impatient to know what would happen next! The budding relationship between tommi and Lorcan develops well, but it doesn't overshadow the plot.
I hope the next book comes out soon as I am really excited to return back to this world! :D
I voluntarily read an arc of this book. I hadn't read book 1 so felt a little like I was playing catch up in the first chapter or so. However the author did a good job of providing enough detail that I got the gist of what must have happened.
I rate this between 4 and 5 stars. I liked the heroine Tommi, I found her fun, believable and likable. I felt the connection she had with Lorcan but there wasn't quite enough emotion in the book for me - which is why it didn't hit the full 5 stars. There wasn't much reflection on or discussion of emotions and feelings.
That said, however, the plot is amazing, full of twists and turns and action and the supporting characters are well developed and add extra interest/depth to the story. The book is really well written, with a very easy to read style. I loved how this part of the story tied up but that a new adventure to look forward to was dangled before us. I for one can't wait to read it.
