I recently bought a new kindle after my old one broke. For some reason I was unable to download this title from the cloud onto my kindle, therefore I will be unable to review this title. I am sorry for any inconvenience caused
I've been hooked on this series from the very beginning, I love that every book is sooo different depending on the couple. Sadly, I didn't love this one as much as I did with the others. It was tough for me to believe the connection between Teagan and Ben. A big part of it was that Ben fought their bond longer than I thought he would .
As far as tropes go, romance with bdsm or the dom/sub aren't quite my cup of tea. They're generally not the tropes that I gravitates towards, so I found myself skipping over those scenes.
I loved seeing my favorites from the previous books in this one. And the greater story arc is just getting thicker and thicker, I'm so eager to see what's going to come of all of this.
Not my favorite book so far, but still an enjoyable one.
I got lost in this fabulous read…
I don’t want to say it was a fantastic paranormal read because I don’t want to pigeon-hole it to just one category. It was a freakin’ great read period! Love, family, laughter. Danger, loss, grief. Paranormal, wolves, pack politics. Jealousy, revenge, greed. Oh, there are just so many different places to start listing what was great about this story…
“Playtime is over.”
This is the third book I’ve read in this series and it is my new favourite! I caught the novella but missed book two (I will be correcting that quickly). Lex and Cade’s sister Tegan lost her mate a few years ago and has been coasting through life since then. She is functioning but not feeling, keeping herself apart from her friends and family. Making the choice to take back her life, she finds Ben, a human, someone who calls to her soul… He is her mate…
Ben is an FBI agent who has proven himself to be a friend to the pack. He was attracted to Tegan and wanted to see where things would go. Little did he know though who Tegan’s family was...
Life is all about timing and Tegan and Ben are at odds almost right away. There was no crazy drama, no far-fetched, hard to relate circumstances. Instead, it was two people stumbling onto each other and dealing with a whole host of emotions and feelings, all while hell was breaking loose around them. Their emotions became my emotions as their struggles grabbed me completely.
Things come to a head, as they do, and it was explosive on all fronts! I looked up after reading the last pages and had to pause for a moment as I came back to my own world. Not that I was in any hurry….
“Mine,” he whispered and she nodded. “Mine.”
There is a lot more to come and I want to return to Cascadia as soon as humanly/wolfly possible!
Yet another quick and dirty read in this excellent Cascadia Wolves series! Loved the romance between Ben and Teagen--loved the element of Dominance and submission. And LOVED that they had an equal partnership in the pack as Enforcers. Seriously one of the best shifter series I've read and I cannot wait for more!
Wolf Unbound is a re-release of Lauren Dane's Novella. I have not read the other books in the series and can be read as a standalone. This is book #4 and for me I feel like I was missing something because I hadn't read the other books in the series. There is an underlying story throughout the books and although things are updated, I guess i was missing the "feels" of this story. There was a lot of sex and not enough story for me. This is where I feel if i had read the other books it would have flowed better.
Teagan is a werewolf who has lost her mate and has just been going through the routine of life when she meets Ben who is human. When they hit it off right away and hit the sheets, Teagan realizes he is her new mate. Ben on the other hand is confused and not quite on board. He just doesn't get this instant love and pulls away. He needs time and Teagan is devastated.
There is plenty of action, both sex and fighting. The story was fast paced, but a little disjointed to me. I feel this is because I have not read the other books in the series.
4.5 stars - If you've read any of Lauren Dane's books, you know she always brings the goods. Wolf Unbound is no different. This book is filled with confident men and women who know their worth. You get a great story about an instant attraction that leads to a forever kind of love. There's a nice dose of sexy time, a little Dom/Sub action (but nothing crazy), a close knit family and a common enemy looking to disrupt everyone's way of life. I didn't read the previous version of this same title, so can't give any comparisons. If you haven’t read the previous printing of this book, and like a bit of paranormal, I say go-all-in with this one. If you read this one the first go-round, I’d suggest getting the sample and reading the author's note, so you can decide for yourself.
I received an ARC of this book, via Net Galley, in exchange for a fair and honest review.
Great read! The chemistry between Ben and Tegan is hot! I was hooked from beginning to end, the story is fast paced with lots of drama and suspense. Looking forward to more in the series.
Teagan had lost her mate 4 years ago. She was a werewolf and the usually mate for life. Luckily there had been an anchor in the tri bond so Teagan didn’t also doe but her anchor Abe had already found his mate so he could not step in for Teagan’s husband and mate Lucas. Lucas had been everything to Teagan her best friend. Partner, her mate. Teagan had three dreams in the last month of Lucas the dream two weeks ago made it clear he wanted her to let go of him and start to live again and find a new love and mate. There was something big coming. Teagan had been living with her brother Lex and her sister in law Mia. Lex was The enforcer of the pack and her other brother Cade was the Alpha of the Cascadia pack. Teagan was ready to go home it was only twenty miles from Lex’s home. Mia tells Lex to let her go. Pellini is in an enemy who is looking for any way he can hurt one of them. Teagan is a guard on Lex’s Enforcer team. Teagan is closest to Layla even though she has a twin Megan. Layla is the one that got her through the death of Lucas and the hard horrific time after. Lucas had been an Army Ranger something he had always wanted to do. Layla was glad to see Teagan start to come back to life after so long. Lucas had been killed in Afghanistan. Teagan went to Club De Sade - a BDSM club. Teagan was looking for someone who would use a flogger and knew how to use it right. Teagan was a submissive is this aspect of her life only. There was a human looking for a regular sub but Teagan wasn’t ready to commit but Ben agreed to spend that evening with Teagan but he wanted her blindfolded before she came into the room with him. But her friend Ryan was going to observe through a window to make sure Teagan was ok while she was with Ben. After their session Teagan was surprised how strongly she reacted to Ben. Ben asked Teagan if he could buy her a drink Teagan suggested coffee as she still had to go to work. Ben was a cop but had been doing a lot of work on Pellini and with the werewolf packs. Templeton Mancini was the Alpha of the National Pack which was the ruling pack of all the packs. Warren Pellini believed Templeton and the National’s pack enforcer Jack Meyers were in his pocket. But in reality they were working with the FBI and some of the other packs to try to bring down Pellini. Pellini pretty much taken over Sargasso and Quinta- they were packs on the border which made sense as he could move drugs and guns a lot easier now. Pellini was working on on Michigan and maple for the same reasons. They have to find out if Pellini has the virus before they make a move.otherwise human and wolves would be in terrible danger. There had been a lycanthropy virus had been stolen and it was a big threat. Ben had been a good cop for fifteen years. Then Teagan and Ben kissed Teagan but stopped at that. Cade warned Ben not to hurt his sister. When Teagan went out to patrol she scented two wolves she didn't recognize and gun oil. Teagan was a woman who went by her gut it had served her well. Something in Ben called to Teagan and made her respond in a way she hadn’t in a long time. Teagan didn’t want to ignore that. Ben and Teagan had sex and then Ben passed out which meant they had mated. Ben was completely stunned and was backing off and teagan cried as he was leaving. Being mated was like being married in the human world only more intense. The next morning when she went to her brothers everyone could smell Ben and Teagan had mated. Teagan threatened Cade with a gun to his head if he didn’t leave her mate alone. Mia went to talk to Ben as she had been human when her and Lex mated and all she had went through might help Ben accept things a little easier. Ben was ready for a girlfriend but not a wife.
I absolutely loved this paranormal story it was excellent. I loved when Teagan put a gun to her brother and alpha’s head in defense of Ben even though he had hurt her Ben was Teagan’s mate and her first loyalty was to him. I had to laugh. I loved how Ben got possessive when he seen another man in Teagan’s home when he went to talk to her. I also love how protective the wolves were with each other and touchy feely. Also how ben immediately agreed to be bitten and turned so he could go find Teagan and rescue her. Also how ben pulled Teagan back from death. Just will say loved the whole story and is one of my new favorites. I really couldn’t find anything to complain about. I loved the plot and the characters and all the ins and outs of this story and i highly recommend.
(Sadly initially had to DNF this book even though I adore the characters, especially the characters that are in the Cascadia Wolf Pack. It feels like there are two books kinda smushed together....there's the romance side that in this book rapidly becomes more explicit to the point I didn't want to read those parts. Having said that there was the other side of the book on how the packs are trying to unify and work together to find out if Warren Pellini has the Lycanthropy virus and finally oust him from the rather comfortable niche he has created for himself within the National Pack. I may try to pick this one back up at some point as I love the plot pack side of the books just Dominant/submissive part puts me off. As a women that was on the receiving end of domestic violence it didn't sit so well.)
REVIEW
Having loved the books and novella's previously to this one, and loving the Warden family and their pack I am definitely looking forward to reading this book. I am hoping that Wolf Unbound returns to the more plot driven styles of Reluctant Mate and Pack Enforcer or maybe about the same level of steam as Wolves' Triad but no more thanks! I am totally loving the pack side just the steaminess was beginning to take over in Wolves'Triad.too much for my personal reading taste.
I was not sure if I could read past the rather racier parts of this book to get to the Cascadia pack characters that I love, and back to the Warren Pellini situation. I did originally have to DNF this book even though I adore the characters, especially the characters that are in the Cascadia Wolf Pack. I think the dynamic of the Warden family is brilliant and love discovering more about each character as the books continue the series.
I like the cover once again it adds to the cohesiveness with the wolf and forest scene at the bottom of the book. The couple at the upper part of the book, do a good job of representing the characters of Ben and Tegan. It would certainly encourage me to pick the book up from a bookstore shelf to learn more about it.
This book fits in the paranormal, fantasy genre, but it also crosses the line into the erotica genre too. As I have said throughout this review I much preferred the paranormal, fantasy, werewolves aspects of the book.
With this book it feels like there are two books kinda smushed together....there's the werwolf/shifter romance side that in this book rapidly became more explicit to the point I didn't want to read those parts. Having said that there was the other side of the book on how the packs are trying to unify and work together to find out if Warren Pellini has the Lycanthropy virus and finally oust him from the rather comfortable niche he has created for himself within the National Pack. As much as I didn't particularly want to read the steamier side of the book I really was intrigued and wanted to read paranormal & Warren Pellini situation.
I left the book for a day or so, then started thinking I may try to pick this one back up at at a later time, as I do love the plot and pack side of the books. I feel I was missing out, not reading the rest of the book to discover what happened with the Warden family, Cascadia Wolf pack and the increasingly dangerous and unpredictable situation with Warren Pellini. To be totally truthful it was just the Dominant/Submissive parts that puts me off, the whole thing of one a male being domineering towards a woman. I think that as women that was on the receiving end of domestic violence could have been the reason why that part of the book/plot didn't sit so well. Having explained all that I still decided I had to finish reading as in my opinion the plot being so good outweighed the "too much detailed information" scenes!
My favourite characters remain to be Nina, Lex and Cade, the bond they share, how they speak to each other and the genuine love between them. I think its so funny the way Nina calls Lex "Scooby"! Who would have thought that the tough enforcer is as soft as jello on the inside beneath the toughness he has to exhibit to everyone else.
So I did get through the explicit racier parts of the book. Once I was more immersed in the plot I loved reading the book and didn't want to put it down. In my opinion this book would be just as good and for me much better without the really heavily descriptive explicit sexual scenes in it. As for reading more of the series, I think I am officially addicted to the Cascadia Wolves Series!
Having read the previous books in this series, I was super excited to see Tegan's book come up. She's always been in the background, but I knew she definitely had more to say.
This book gave an awesome connection between two characters we've met before. While the rest of the pack appears to interact with Ben Stoner, Tegan first meets him when she escapes her solitary life for a visit to a bondage club. This particular club caters to paranormals, but since Ben is already in the know and looking for a new sub, they are paired up almost by accident. The chemistry is super hot and leads to a more solid connection than I think either of them anticipated.
Tegan and Ben's families, of course, are a little bit harder of a sell, particularly since Tegan lost her previous mate and has been mostly solitary since then. These two, however, manage to bring out the best in one another (when their stubbornness is not getting in the way). Oh, and the smut is awesome! Along with the unexpected romance, we also get some progress in the overall storyline. While we don't get a super duper happy ending with all plotlines tied up, we are still definitely making progress (especially for Ben & Tegan). I will happily read as many installments this series puts out!
This story blurb hinted at a bit of Domination/submission, and I had hopes for that, but I didn’t get far enough into the story to find out.
I ran into the exact same series arc problem that I had with Wolves Triad.
These books drop you right into the middle of a complex world, intertwined relationships and power structures without any of the little hints that make it possible to jump into the series and enjoy one of the later books.
Because the writing IS solid and the characters ARE fantastic with Lauren Dane’s writing to boot, the series is probably worth reading, but definitely wait until you can start at book one so you have a chance of understanding what the heck is going on.
Just don’t expect polyamory in the series, ’cause it doesn’t have it, no matter what the blurbs say. From what I saw it has romance, great characters, solid writing, what I have to assume is well-designed, intricate world-building based on how confusing I found the books I had access to, but polyamory it doesn’t.
With only one book left in the Cascadia Wolves series, we finally start to see more of the worldbuilding I had been hoping for, a little bit better characterization, and characters I actually wanted to like and root for.
<i>Wolf Unbound</i> is Tegan's book, and she does not disappoint as a protagonist. Unlike the earlier women, she rarely comes across as whiny. She seems much more grounded and more likable. Ben is less interesting as a character and his family leave a lot to be desired. Like the previous books, the mating is sudden and unexpected. For the life of me, I can't figure out how the Wardens have no mate sense whatsoever.
The continuing storyline of the Pellini Group really takes off in <i>Wolf Unbound</i> and more packs, the National leadership, and a broader range of characters come into play. This really contributed to my enjoyment of the book since this had been so thin in the other books. It had a way better plotline than the more thinly-veiled vehicles previous books seemed to be.
I continued to be disappointed in the vast amount of telling and not showing. The stilted dialogue was still off-putting. The "let's call any garden variety bigot a Nazi" was quite off-putting.
Despite this, I liked Tegan enough and was happier with the events that I liked this book more than the previous ones. I'm geared up for the finale since I have been waiting for Cade's book the whole series.
In this fourth book of the series, we focus on Teagan. We get to know more about who she is as a person and why she is that way. Who is Lucas? What is or was he to Teagan? What is Club de Sade? Who owns it? Who runs it? How does Tegan know Ryan? Who is Ben? Why is she introduced to him? What happens when Cade and Lex meet up with Detective Stoner later that night for a conference call? What happens when Teagan walks into the house, getting ready for her shift? After an argument with the Alpha and the Enforcer, with the Enforcer's wife backing her up, when she goes outside, she gets a niggle. What is it about that niggle? Learned something about Detective Stoner that I did not expect. I was very happily surprised with this new knowledge and reading his actions. The word choices really put me somewhere mentally that let me enjoy what I was reading. When Teagan sees some photographs that Ben has taken, things get a bit tense and much more interesting. Why? What are the images of and what does Teagan think about them? One of my favorite lines starts with "Oh hello,".... after Teagan and Ben have gone to the movies. When Ben takes Teagan home, things get very interesting at dinner that night with his parents. When an interpack war has to be declared, what has happened? Why? Who is behind it? What happens? How long has it been since the last war? I so cannot wait to read more in this series! Talk about leaving you wanting more!
RECEIVED THIS BOOK AS A GIFT FOR A FAIR/HONEST REVIEW and REVIEWER FOR Bloggin' With M. Brennan.
I am loving Lauren Dane's Cascadia Wolves series! This book focused on Tegan and Ben, a human cop and wow was it steamy! What I really liked was that Tegan was a dominate female whose job was protection. While this did led to her butting heads with Ben's protectiveness, she held her own and he learned to accept that she can protect herself. It contrast with her dominance was her desire to submit in the bedroom. What I liked most about her and Ben's relationship was that their bedroom relationship did not carry into the rest of their lives. It was a refreshing change from most D/s erotic books and I think the paranormal aspect helped with that.
The subplot which ties the book series together is still going strong with the Pellini Group as adversaries. I can't wait for the next book, which I believe is about Pellini's sister and Cade!!
Not my fave of the Cascadia wolves series, but that's 100% personal opinion. I don't particularly go for aggressive leading ladies, I prefer my tension to be of the sexual nature rather than power struggles for dominance. That said, it was well-tempered with the Dom/sub aspect, so I'm sure there's a ton of people who would really dig it.
In Wolf Unbound, the series continues with another of the siblings, Tegan. Tegan is a pack enforcer but she is also grieving over the loss of her mate for four years now. She is now ready to start to begin anew and start living a life again. She begins to explore at a club, a BDSM club. She explored the lifestyle with her past mate and needs it. But she was shocked that the man she felt a connection with that special evening, is her mate. But our hero Ben, is human and is intrigued by Tegan. But when he makes a mistake that hurts her, he will have to grovel and get back in her good graces, a woman who is stubborn and passionate. What a story Wolf Unbound was. I am not always a fan of BDSM, but this was lighter and I liked that it just stayed in the bedroom. The characters still had a wonderful story that felt realistic. They went on dates and it felt so normal at times. And an added plus was the sense of danger and suspense that plays out in this story. Quite an action packed romance that surprised me. I am really enjoying seeing the development of the plot here with our villain and I can’t wait to see what happens next.
First timers should perhaps start with an earlier title in this series, but fans of shapeshifting erotica will howl for joy over Dane's latest.
Ohh dis ones yummy.
Were do I start hmm ...
Ben ... ohh wow!! He is so yummy.
All tall dark and ohh so demanding! I really did love him. Although he's human he was already sitting pretty high up on the alpha scale. He's gruff and unapologetic but he towed the line between firm but sweet like a freaking pro!. Totally upfront about his feeling of wanting a relationship instead of a quick fuck, it was extremely refreshing to have to open honestly from the beginning. There is a few parts through the story were I imagined junk punching him. As a whole though he's a great lead a wonder to a women's imagination (;.
Tegan is my favourite kind of heroine. Feisty fiery and not scared to be a certified badass she definitely had me in awe of her. Having dealt the most horrendous blow in life by loosing her mate, for 4 long years it was as if the life had been sucked out of her. She was alive and well, but never really living. Until she decides it's ready to move on or at least try.
She knew from the moment she laid eyes on Ben that he meant something to her. Not exactly that he was her mate but for the first time in years he made her feel, made her forget and made her want to trust him. I admire her for her strength. I respected her character and with how she fought for what she wanted without sacrificing who she was. She all round genuinely was a brilliant read and a definite favourite heroine for me.
Together as a couple they are Fire!!! Being both dominant characters I was extremely surprised at how well they worked. I mean there is only one dominant in the bedroom... and holy shit I'd submit. There taste lean more on the BDSM train however in comparison to what I've read it's not what I'd call hardcore. Some light flogging, paddling. Restraining with cuffs and rope, and a definite D/s relationship but only in the bedroom. The chemistry is completely of the charts. The sex is super hot and leaves lots for the imagination to run with!. They have a couple of bumpy rides(pun intended Lovelies ;) you just keep those dirty minds running). But with some great grovelling and smoking make up sex.. all is right with the world. They're characters growth is really good and all round they are super entertaining to read.
As well as our lovely main characters the side characters are also very entertaining. Nothing is ever smooth sailing so the storyline was jam packed with suspense, hilarious sarcastic wit, some surprises and a whole lot of loving. In total you get a rollercoaster of an emotional journey but non the less it was a great book.

Wolf Unbound is a solid 3. 5 star read for me. I had read it previously and enjoyed reading it again.
Dane has a way with the pen and creating worlds with words. Wolf Unbound spends lots of time creating a BDSM werewolf world.
To me, its all about the balance. If there was more balance between the sex and the actually story, I would of loved this tale. Wolf Unbound is sure to be a hit with those who really prefer more sex less story.
I received Wolf Unbound from Carina Press. This is my honest and voluntary review. This book is set for publication Feb. 1, 2017.
I have read an early edition of this released previously.
