Unfortunately I read this back when i was sporadic about writing reviews. I now review all books I request. I did like this book, the characters were interesting and intriguing.
The book was okay, not super interesting and hard to get into. This book almost joined the DNF list. Nothing was really captivating about this novel and I wouldn’t recommend to anyone. I can see where the author was going with this story and I liked the characters but it just didn’t deliver.

How I missed this one on my kindle I have no idea? I am kinda glad I did cause when I found it I have the next books already, so I don't have to wait on them.
Zeke and Gabe, a trauma doctor and a grease monkey, are a very unlikely pairing especially with her social anxiety. But with lots of love and kisses Zeke helps her overcome it, and she gains a bigger family from it. Loved seeing all the boys again.
Trevor's up next...what's in store for you...
In Book 2 of this phenomenal series, Rhenna Morgan does not disappoint. Her characters are so multi-layered: flawed, giving, loving, loyal, family oriented, protective, and badass. When she mixes these core characteristics together, magic is made. The Haven Brotherhood is now like family. I need to know: who, what, why, when, where, like right now. There is no second book slump here. Ms. Morgan seems to be hitting all my reader buttons and I love being on this wild ride. With Book 3 just on the horizon, I know I’ll be impatiently counting down the days.
Gabrielle Parker works as a mechanic. She loves her job and pretty much stays to herself. Gabe has some serious social anxiety due to her past and she’s built walls so high that it’s near impossible for anyone to get close to her. Since her dad died, it has just her and her brother Danny, and that’s the way she likes it. She has trust issues, thanks to her useless mother and some really shitty kids from school. Gabrielle also chooses not to take medication to help her with her issues. Gabe takes care of all her elderly neighbors because she truly cares, but also because they can’t hurt her. She binge watches romantic movies and lives vicariously through them. Meanwhile, Danny is working to become a brother at Haven. Gabe is taking care of her neighbor’s cat while the neighbor is out of town, and as she enters the house, she realizes things aren’t quite right. An intruder bursts out at her and knocks her pretty good into a table. She takes a hard fall and it breaks her ribs. She calls her brother Danny and, of course, the Havens Doc, Zeke Dugan, is on his way to make sure she’s okay, even with Danny knowing his sister will not allow strangers to touch her.
Danny explains the situation to Zeke on their way to his house, and so the good doctor uses his very good bedside manner. He treats Gabrielle with kid gloves and he is very taken with her. Gabe has a toughness about her – she has those walls up and they can be misconstrued as aloof. But behind that facade Zeke sees her fear and does everything in his power as a person and a doctor to slowly put her at ease. He promises her it will only take five minutes to make sure she hasn’t punctured her lung. She agrees.
“Five minutes,” he agreed. He could have done it in three, but he’d take the extra bonus. Then he’d figure out how to make the leap from stranger to someone worthy of coaxing the wild and sweet kitten from her corner.”
Zeke is infatuated with Gabrielle and makes sure he puts himself in her way. Gabe is having none of it. She’s literally afraid of getting hurt and people leaving her, but Zeke does love a challenge and he’s really interested in her. All his manly instincts are kicking in and he wants to take care of her and get her under him, over him, and anywhere else he can get her. He starts calling her gatinha, which is Portuguese for kitten. He keeps teasing her until she googles it. She asks him if he really thinks she’s a kitten.
“I think you’re a feral kitten. One who’s hungry and has a bowl of cream right in front of her, but can’t quite decide if she wants to lick it up, or hiss and hightail it back into the woods.”
Zeke is wearing her defenses down and asks her to join him to take pictures at a rugby match he holds with Trevor for underprivileged kids. Her inner voice that’s always negative amps up her anxiety and she questions every word, motive, and scenario that could happen. Of course, anyone who suffers from anxiety knows there is no reasoning with that inner voice. Zeke is very good at picking up on her anxiety and talks through everything. Which for someone suffering from this debilitating condition is a lifeline. That calm voice in the storm. Gabrielle is used to men having sex with her and then disappearing. She is wary. Zeke knows this and tries to put her at ease.
“I want to be clear on something. Clear enough that when I get out of this car, I do it knowing you’re under no more disillusions.”
“Okaaay…”
“This is a date. A one hundred percent, man asks woman out, gets to know her, then kisses her stupid when it’s over date. What this isn’t is me being friendly with you in a purely platonic way.”
Have I mentioned how much I love Zeke? He is definitely protective, he’s fierce in his convictions, saves lives, and he is probably one of the best heroes ever written (Ken Karmondy from Out of Control still holds first place). But, dammit, Zeke is running neck and neck with him. Gabrielle, with all her issues, is probably one of the strongest heroines to ever grace the pages of a book. While she can be obstinate, she is also very smart and figures her life out with the help of Zeke and his brothers.
This romance is a slow burn. It’s exquisite and all consuming. You feel almost like a voyeur, intruding on this budding relationship that’s so sweet and thoughtful. Make no mistake, while the relationship is slow and sweet, the sex is off the charts. With all those ingredients, it’s one of the most satisfying reading experiences for me. There’s a suspense thread running through the book that doesn’t take up too much of the narrative. But it’s from this thread that Gabrielle takes a long, hard look at what’s important. Zeke slowly breaks down those barriers and she blossoms. I love when Gabe goes shopping for a dress to attend a charity event with Zeke and she feels confident enough to befriend the sales clerk April who helps her. I hope somewhere down the line we get to meet her again.
“I always thought love was a risk. One I wasn’t willing to take. You’re worth it.” Her mouth parted on a soft gasp and she tried to pull her hand free. Zeke tightened his hold and kissed the center of her palm.
“Relax.”
“I can’t relax. I don’t… I mean, how am I suppose to interpret that?”
“It means I love you, gatinha. All of you. Just like you are.”
Sigh……
This is a slow and steamy read. By slow I don’t mean you’ll fall asleep. Slow in a good way, it’s all about the characters in this book. Believe me, you’ll want to take that time to spend with Zeke and Gabrielle and, of course, the other brothers. I love their friendships, their humor, their protective side, their family-oriented loyalty. I can’t wait for the next book and I can tell you I will be waiting with bated breath. Ms. Morgan, I am fan. I recommend reading this series from Book 1, but you don’t need to. You could read this book and not feel lost, you would just miss out on another really fantastic read. I wish I had a sticker that read “You will not be disappointed. Guarantee Read!”
Wild & Sweet is the second novel in The Haven Brotherhood series, but it's the first novel in the series I've read, it's the first novel I've read by Rhenna Morgan, and it's another case of where has this author been all these years? This was an incredibly enjoyable read, and it gets 5 stars from this reader.
When I requested an advance reader copy of this novel, based on the blurb I assumed that the Haven Brotherhood was an MC romantic suspense novel, and I couldn't have been more wrong. The Haven Brotherhood is a lot more than that--these are brothers by choice, and this is the first romantic suspense novel, in fact, the first novel I've ever read which deals with social anxiety disorder, and it does so extremely well.
Gabrielle (Gabe), the heroine, is the character who has been dealing with this disorder since she was a child. She lives with her brother, Danny, works as a mechanic, and even the thought of being out in a social situation or being the center of attention brings on a panic attack. She's happy living quietly in the lakefront home she grew up in, and since her neighbors are all elderly, she deems them safe--she cooks for them, helps them and watches their homes when they're away. It's while she's checking up on why her vacationing neighbor's porch light isn't on, when she clearly recalls turning it that morning after feeding the neighbor's cat, she goes inside to investigate, and is roughly pushed aside by an intruder--so roughly, in fact, that after being shoved aside and into the marble-topped table as the intruder flees, she needs medical attention, but a busy hospital filled with people is the last place she wants to go, even as she dials 911.
When her brother, Danny, gets there and sees his sister holding onto her rib cage and refusing medical care, he realizes that Gabe desperately needs to be x-rayed and assessed by a professional, and since he's been hanging out with the Haven Brotherhood ever since meeting the brothers while working on one of their cars, he calls on Zeke, a trauma doctor, who has his own private trauma unit, and Gabe reluctantly agrees to go there with him.
Zeke is drawn to the lovely but closed off Gabe, and like his alpha male Haven Brotherhood, he's ready to pursue her and win her over. He's quick to recognize her issues and does everything he can to help her, and quite frankly, if there really are men like Zeke out there in the real world, I'd suggest we start to clone them immediately. Not only is Zeke kind, gentle, patient, brave, strong, protective and understanding, he's also sexy as hell, and willing to take his time with Gabe on both the emotional and physical sides of their slowly building relationship.
As their relationship develops, there's also the suspense side of this novel. Zeke notices that there are far too many realtors who are constantly dropping by, telling Gabe that they have buyers for her home (she and Danny have no intention of ever selling), and they seem unwilling to take "no" for an answer. After the break-in, and after several of her neighbors suddenly decide to move elsewhere, and a very suspicious fire at another neighbor's home, Zeke suspects there's more going on than meets the eye, and gets his brothers involved in looking into it--and the brothers, whom I assume will all have novels of their own, and who are willing and able to take matters into their own hands, take Danny and Gabe under their wings.
These are characters with real depth, and although Zeke is attracted to Gabe from the moment he meets her, this isn't an insta-love relationship--Gabe is far too emotionally damaged for that, and I absolutely loved the fact that the author was sensitive enough not to rush them into bed. For all of Gabe's issues, she's also no shrinking violet when Zeke makes decisions she disagrees with. Had Gabe not been willing to stand up for herself when it counted, she'd have gained no respect or admiration from this reader.
I clearly knew early on that I've got to follow this author and this series, because if the preceding novel or any subsequent ones in this series are even half as well-written and well plotted at this one, I'll know I'm in for a great read. I love being able to recommend a new-to-me author, and I'm highly recommending this one.
I read an advance reader copy of this novel and received no compensation for doing so. The opinions expressed are my own.
"Then maybe it's not a question of how different we are. Maybe I've been in a hurry my whole life to experience all the things I've done and seen for a reason."
"What reason?"
His head turned toward hers. "To share them with you."
This is my first book by Rhenna Morgan, which I'm always nervous about when it's an ARC, because I feel an obligation to read the whole thing, so if it turns out I don't like it ... eek. Turns out it was a great choice though and I will definitely be picking up Morgan's other books! The cast of characters is terrific, Gabe and Zeke's romance is super sweet and searingly hot, and I appreciated how much they both put themselves out there and didn't do any stupid miscommunication shit. (Also loved Morgan's dedication: "This one's for the underdogs. The misfits, the wallflowers or those too shy to step out of the shadows. I see you, and I think you're beautiful.")
BASICS. Modern day, Dallas area, TX
Heroine: Gabrielle "Gabe" Parker (24), mechanic
Hero: Zeke Dugan (early 30s), trauma doc
Series: the "brothers" feature heavily in the book, but can definitely be read as a stand-alone
WHAT I LOVED. The chemistry was AMAZING!! Totally off the charts and a little on the naughty side; could almost be classified as romantica, but because it's definitely not all about the sex in any way, I think it still counts as a CR (just a very enjoyably naughty one lol). The romance between Gabe and Zeke was very cute and sweet (while yes, also sizzling!); definitely many sigh-worthy moments and exchanges that put a big smile on my face and made me wanting a Zeke of my own. Zeke would probably be on my favorite heroes list—he still might get added—but see my "Dislike" portion below.
[ EXCERPT ] He tugged her against him so fast she gasped and clenched his arms for balance. He cupped the sides of her face. "I mean I want you. I want those smiles that make my day so bright it hurts. I want you to push healthy comfort food on me the way you do Danny and your neighbors. I want you curled up next to me on the couch while you watch movies and slip into make-believe. I want to do whatever it takes to make you look at me like you did this afternoon. And just so you can't accuse me of being a liar, I'll admit, I want the sex, too. Lots of it. I want to anchor my cock deep inside you and make you come so hard you forget about any other man who came before me." [pick up fan. use it!!!]
There was also some great humor in many of the relationships—between the "brothers," between Gabe and her brother, Danny, etc. There were a couple of laugh-out-loud moments, and what immediately comes to mind is when Gabe is so clearly not aware that Zeke is (eventually, very blatantly!) putting the moves on her; makes for some funny scenes and exchanges.
Romances very rarely include mental illness / mental health issues of any kind, let alone in one of the main characters, so hats off to Morgan for writing Gabe the way she did. Gabe has severe social anxiety and gets panic attacks, and it definitely threw things off sometimes—but yeah, that's what happens in real life and that's why it's such an issue, it stops someone from being able to live a "normal" life. Don't want to scare anyone off, she's not weirdly anti-social or anything. I also appreciated that Morgan didn't have Gabe "cured" at the end of the story, because no matter how great a relationship with Zeke she has, a few weeks of that wouldn't solve Gabe's issues (but I could totally see a romance author trying to write it that way).
WHAT I DISLIKED. Zeke was too perfect. How can a hero be too perfect? Well, in the sense that he has basically no issues and none of the stops or hiccups or anything in the development of the story are about him. There's the small point of his involvement in the brotherhood and the fact that they don't always obey the law, and the conflict that created with Gabe, but that's not really a "Zeke" issue.
He alludes to having had really bad anger issues at one point and he's always had to be on the go, couldn't stop and enjoy, but we don't really see that. A couple points where he gets angry we're told that he can feel that old anger coming back (or something like that), but that's it. So not only did it make that much more unrealistic, but given the severe hangups that Gabe did have, it made the contrast really glaring. Everything was just too perfect—he's into Gabe right away, he's so understanding about her issues and super supportive, he has no issue with how strong his feelings for her are or admitting them straight-up, etc.
Gabe got on my nerves just a little bit, and I think it was a combo of things. I think she's way too slow on the uptake that something fishy is going on in the neighborhood and either way, she should fucking lock her door and put on the alarm system her brother sets up. Wanted to snap her out of it, because she came off as being a bit immature on that front. Overall though, I liked her character a lot, found her very endearing, and loved that she was a bit of a homebody (ummm, no reason or anything, not saying I relate ... lolol).
EXCERPT.
"Gabe's sweet. The kind of sweet a man protects. I get that and I respect it, but there's no predicting how things could turn out between us. We're complete opposites."
"Then why go there?"
"Because not going there isn't an option." It was the most honest thing he'd admitted since the day he laid eyes on her, and the truth behind his statement must have resonated with Danny too because a little of the tension in his shoulders eased. "I stayed with her a lot longer than I let on last weekend."
"When you took her home?"
"Yep. I didn't plan to do it. She asked me to stay, and I couldn't say no. Nothing happened. Nothing except sitting on the couch and watching some late-eighties movie." He paused long enough to meet Danny's stare head on. "Aside from the night I joined the brotherhood, it was the best night of my life."
Danny stared back at him, obviously a little shocked at the admission.

Part 2 of an ongoing series
I have to admit I'm still not a hundred percent sure on how to even categorize this brotherhood. They aren't MC but they also aren't on the complete right side of the law. This time around we have Zeke and Gabrielle (Gaby). Zeke is the brother's trauma Doctor and when he first sees Gaby he wants something different. Gaby has some issues causing her to not fit in with others well but Zeke gets under her skin quickly.
You're a mechanic. He's a doctor. That combination will never happen. (Argh! Never a fan of blatant insecurities. What's wrong with that combination?)
I know social anxiety and I understand Gaby's character but it came across a more of insecurities then social anxiety to me at times.
Gaby thinks she knows right and wrong but she also has some double standards of expectations when it comes to relationships.
"As for me, I told you I loved you. That comes without conditions. Exactly as you are. You said you loved me. I trusted that. Hoped you'd take me the same way. Either you don't have a fucking clue what love is, or you're just too scared to face it and you're using the first excuse to hightail it to safe ground."
I do like this series as its growing on me but I haven't fall in love with it yet.
Gabe really touched my heart with her shy demeanor and desire to spend more time with her motors than with other people. She seemed like such a lovely girl but she was hiding from the world. When she is injured in an attempted home robbery, Zeke rushes in to help but loses his heart in the process. Instantly he feels the need to protect this woman from any harm but Gabe might need a little more convincing. This story was a combination of romance and suspense. What exactly was happening with the robberies in the neighborhood and who was behind them? You can trust the Haven Brotherhood will find the answers. The story is written with an easy pace unfolding into a charming romance.
This one start a little bit slow for my taste .But not so bad I like the hero a lot!Zeke was such a sweet, sexy, alpha man. He knew all the right moves to get Gabe and I loved him for this.He was one of the best parts in the story.
This is the first book I've read in this series and I'm hooked!
The Haven Brotherhood is not your usual group of men. These are all men who didn't have the easiest time growing up and were likely going to take a very different path if someone didn't intervene. They support one another, protect one another and help keep their communities safe.
While the story focuses on Zeke and Gabe, the only reason Gabe is involved with the brotherhood is because of her brother. Gabe has extreme social anxiety and has difficulty fitting in with others, especially with people she doesn't know. This all changes when she is attacked in her neighbor's house and the brotherhood comes to her rescue.
** ARC received from Netgalley **
I did not read the first installment in this series, The Haven Brotherhood but honestly I wasn't lost at all. This was a great book! Zeke Dugan is one of the six men in an group called The Haven Brotherhood. These men live somewhat ordinary lives when they're not helping people under the guise of The Haven Brotherhood. However, when they get in Brotherhood mode, they are fierce protectors of those that need it most.
Zeke, a doctor is called to help Gabrielle Parker, a mechanic who was hurt during a robbery. She sustained some injuries and who better to help her heal but a hot doctor. There is instant chemistry but Gabrielle doesn't see how anyone could be interested in her. She considers herself plain and boring, after all some of her best friends are senior citizens. Will Zeke be able to convince Gabrielle that she's more than enough for him?
Absolutely loved this story about the ups and down of the lives of Zeke and Gabe! Author presents characters that are so real that I hated it when I came to the end. Definitely look for more books by this author.
I skipped the first book and while I could figure out what was happening, it would've been so much better if I had actually read the first book. I'm never disappointed with any books by Ms. Morgan. I'm pretty sure this series will quickly become a favorite of mine. I mean, you can't really go wrong with a group of really hot alpha men.
Another 4.5 - 5. I'm kinda in love with the Haven Brotherhood
I mentioned that I wasn't sure what to expect when I picked up the first book in Rhenna Morgan's Haven Brotherhood series. It didn't take long for Rough & Tumble to win me over though and Wild & Sweet pulled me even farther into their crazy world and made me fall in love with these guys and their women (including the moms) even more.
That doesn't mean that I didn't totally understand Gabrielle's reluctance to trust Zeke, especially when she found out that the Brotherhood skirted the law. She saw things in black and white... no gray at all. There was right and there was wrong and Gabrielle wanted to stay as far away from people who broke the law as she could, regardless of the reasons why. The thing was that when you fell under the protection of the Brotherhood you were considered family and nothing was more important than family. The fact that Gabrielle's brother was slowly being brought into the Brotherhood brought everything up a notch.
So, in a nutshell... I loved the connection between Gabrielle and Zeke. I understood Gabrielle's reluctance to trust, but I also respected Zeke's determination to protect her, no matter what, as well as his patience and respect for Gabrielle. The danger, romance and heat between the two of them, along with the great supporting characters were an added bonus. For all those reasons, it should surprise no one that I can't wait for the next book in the Haven Brotherhood series.
'Wild & Sweet' by Rhenna Morgan is book Two in the "Haven Brotherhood" series. This is the story of Zeke Dugan and Gabrielle Parker 'Gabe'. I haven't yet read the previous book in this series, so for me this was a standalone book. Gabe was raised by her father and brother Danny. Danny has found some new friends and wanting to join the Haven Brotherhood. Zeke is one of the members and they question among themselves who Danny's sister is When Gabe is hurt after a neighborhood break in, Zeke goes with Danny to check on Gabe. When Zeke and Gabe meet for the first time they are very much attracted to one another. But Gabe suffers from anxiety and doesn't interact much with people. Zeke is a DR and understands her issues. We see their relationship slowly grow into love. There is some drama in this book but I just loved these two characters together. Zeke was what Gabe needed and she was what he needed. "My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read."

This is the second book in this "new to me" series and this one is about Zeke Duggan. Zeke is a trauma doctor and a member of the Brotherhood. A group of guys who have each other’s backs and are family by choice not birth. While they protect what's theirs, it's not always to the letter of the law. Bringing in a new member is a long process and one they do not take lightly. Getting to know a new brother's family is the first step and Gabrielle is new prospective member, Danny's, only sister. Zeke finds himself in a tough spot, claiming the sister of a new brother is not the best idea. Lord knows he can’t stay away, the shy innocence Gabe exudes is too addicting. Gabe is a bit of a recluse. With social anxiety and abandonment issues, she doesn't let anyone get too close. Her only brother's interest in this group of men makes her very nervous and untrusting. When her and Danny's neighbor's houses start being vandalized and broken into, the Brothers find out there's something fishy going on. All Zeke wants to do is protect Gabe, but will Gabe let him in? That's the hundred dollar question.
I really like Zeke, he's a bit of a thrill seeker and ball of energy. Gabe helps calm him down and he draws Gabrielle out of her anxiety shell. The two were nice together. I enjoyed the story.

The Haven Brotherhood saved Zeke Dugan from going in the wrong direction in his life 10 years ago. After meeting Danny Parker, he wants to help Danny in the same way and bring him into the brotherhood. Being a trauma doctor, Zeke needs something to help with the nerves and to calm him down. He would do a lot of things that others would call risky but to Zeke, it was his way to deal.
When Danny got a call from his sister, Gabrielle, telling him she had been attacked, the doctor in Zeke kicked in and he needed to check her out and make sure she was okay. When they arrived at Danny and Gabe's house, she was refusing help from the EMTs and Zeke's heart skipped a beat. At first, he thought it was just attraction but as he got to know her, it became so much more.
Gabe is someone who doesn't meet people easily. Everything and everyone new scares her, change scares her. Her past is what has shaped her into the person she is today and because of that, she knows that at some point, everyone leaves.
Meeting Zeke and the brothers has her scared that Danny will leave her too. Can she trust Zeke at his word? Will the Brotherhood be there to protect her and Danny when they need them most? Can she let Zeke in and learn to love? Will Zeke have enough patience to help Gabe through her fears?
I loved the first book and this one was even better. You can't help but fall in love with Zeke and Gabe. I can't wait for the next book in this series.

Zeke and Gabrielle are amazing together. He is all hot and domineering, she's shy, but confident in her own way.
Gabrielle was hurt by the people in her past – she's recovered, but hasn't truly lived. Her brother has allowed her to develop a bubble surrounding life. While she's confident in her job – likes knowing the rules and likes being alone in her mind.
Zeke seeks thrills. He seeks thrills so that he knows that he's alive. While he loves being an ER doc, he also seeks thrills by skydiving, driving fast, any and every thrill-seeking sport he can find and do, he does. Zeke doesn't really know why he loves taking the risk, but when he meets Gabrielle, those ideas change for him.
Behind her tomboy exterior, Gabrielle is a sex kitten. She draws Zeke in – without trying – and when she allows herself to open her heart up, she realizes that she's been existing rather than living.
Zeke is intrigued by Gabrielle – she has a tough exterior, but he sees something more in her. When he decides to take her brother into the family, she instantly becomes family.
While the romance heats up, there is an underlying mystery and I loved how everything comes together. The other characters are still amazing and when everything is said and done, the family is awesome and I can't wait to read more!

The Haven Brotherhood is a group of men that have chosen each other as family. They will fight at any cost for that family and any they claim as their own.
“We follow what actions we deem are right. Not the path society tells us we have to walk.”
Zeke Dugan didn't have the best past but was saved by the Haven Brotherhood. It was the best thing that ever happened to him. When he meets Danny, he sees something in him that reminds him of himself, he knows the brotherhood is for Danny. It is a long process to become a brother, but he knows Danny is up for it. When Danny finds out his sister has fought off an intruder at the neighbor’s house and is hurt, he's surprised that some of the brothers go with him.
Gabrielle Parker grew up faster than she should have. She was there when her mom would meet up with guys for drugs. She was just a little girl and didn't tell, but has horrible guilt that she didn't. When her mom was arrested, Gabe's father kicked out her mother and filed for divorce. Gabe's hurt won't let people get close. She thinks everyone leaves and she doesn't want to get hurt when they go. Meeting Zeke is hard for her. She doesn't open up easy, but something about Zeke has her breaking her own rules. Zeke's attraction to Gabe could ruin everything they are trying to do with Danny, is she worth it?
I find myself getting lost in these Haven Brothers. The characters are intriguing and pull you in. I can't wait to see where the rest of the series goes.

4.5 stars of hotness deservedly rounded up
This is the second in the series and Ms. Morgan has once again delivered a powerful story, full of heat, passion, and intensity.
Zeke is both a doctor and member of Haven, so his instinct to help is doubly active. When Danny's sister, Gabrielle, is attacked, he cannot help but go with him to see her. Little did he expect to find the woman destined to change his world. Gabe has more issues than being injured, and has to work hard to trust Zeke. Such a beautifully written story, this really does engage the reader and I was completed invested in the success of this romance.
I would recommend that you read these books in order, as they are richer for knowing the whole Haven story. I am now hotly anticipating the next one!

I didn’t love this book as much as book one, even though I was really excited because Zeke was one of my favorite brothers that we were introduced to. Zeke is a trauma doctor with a huge heart, he’s the one who brought Danny to the brotherhood’s doorstep in the hopes of his becoming a member. When Danny’s sister, Gabrielle, gets hurt after an attempted robbery at her neighbor’s house, Zeke tends to her injuries and ignites his protective instincts… and her inquisitive instincts. Gabe suffers from extreme social anxiety and doesn’t really leave her house much for anything other than work, but Zeke sees something within Gabe that he wants to bring out and he makes it his mission in life to bring her out of her shell.
I love that though this book is definitely super steamy, it also has intrigue and mystery with Gabe’s small waterfront neighborhood being sought after by just about every real estate agent around – even the nefarious sort. I love that we get an even larger view into the brotherhood life in this book than we did in book one. It’s really set up what is bound to be an addictive and interesting series.
Zeke - alpha male, trauma doc, sweet, loves Gabrielle.
Gabrielle - damaged, shy, quiet, not sure about Zeke or any relationship except with the elderly and her brother.
For me I didn't "feel" the highs and lows of this couple. I was missing the "chemistry" and while the book was enjoyable I probably wouldn't re-read it which is always a good sign for me.
What a fantastic raw gritty sexy read .... so swoon worthy it made my heart melt my pulse go wild and well this book is just brilliant.
I can't tell you how happy I am to have finally started reading Rhenna Morgan... and am kicking myself at the same time for not getting on the ball sooner! There are very few authors these days that will inspire me to read a contemporary romance. The angst and annoying heroines were just getting to be too much for my patience. So having another author in this category really makes me happy, and Rhenna is definitely serving up some swoonworthy heroes and likable heroines.
If you haven't read the first book in the series, Rough & Tumble, then you are totally missing out. But if you want to start with Wild & Sweet and read out of order, you should be fine. Basically what you need to know is that the Haven Brotherhood is a group of unconventional alpha male bikers. These men are totally hot, totally possessive alpha male, and totally successful. From club owners to pilots to doctors... these are bikers outside the norm when it comes to the MC romance trope. My favorite happens to be Axel, but I wouldn't kick a one of 'em out of my bed for eating crackers. (Sorry, my southern came out there.)
Our heroine in this installment is Danny's sister, Gabrielle "Gabe" Parker. (You may remember Danny from Rough & Tumble; he is a sort of "prospect" for the Haven Brotherhood.) Gabe was a unique and refreshing heroine - a shy and awkward mechanic who suffers from social anxiety disorder. In my opinion, writing an insecure heroine is always a gamble... there is a fine line between her being sympathetic or exasperatingly annoying. But Rhenna did a great job with Gabe. I found her to be likable and inspiring. Gabe recognized her shortcomings and she worked to overcome them, and I found myself rallying behind her in every situation where her anxiety was an issue. When she put her anxiety aside, she was a quiet and uncomplicated character who loved her family, had a huge heart, and served as a calming influence on our dynamic hero.
Said dynamic hero was Zeke Dugan, the thrill-seeking sexy Brazilian trauma doc with anger issues. Zeke himself has a lot of nervous energy, always on the move to try to burn away that edge of anger. Between the emergency room, jumping out of planes, and speeding down the race track - Zeke is one of those guys who just can't sit still. His profession made him the most interesting biker for me... I definitely don't think scrubs and stethoscopes when I normally envision a biker. But Zeke made it work. I also liked that he was Brazilian and threw out Portugese phrases here and there. I can't think of another Brazilian hero that I have read in a while, so that aspect provided some nice variety as well. Probably Zeke's best traits were his patience and understanding when it came to Gabe. I loved loved loved how he handled her with care and helped her overcome her issues without being pushy or judgmental. He was a total winner in my book.
The romance between Zeke and Gabe was great. It wasn't instalove, but was paced nicely within the confines of the story. Zeke had to do some work to get past Gabe's social anxiety and Gabe had to overcome her own issues to make the relationship work. And she tried so hard y'all... you couldn't not be proud of her with every step forward she took. This story wasn't quite as steamy as Rough & Tumble, but it still had a good level of heat. Rhenna's writing is hot and sexy without being crass... which is always good for a contemporary romance.
I enjoyed the side plot that was happening with the romance... it was integrated well and helped advance the story when we needed some suspense or action to get the adrenaline going. I won't say what this conflict involves as I think the readers may enjoy finding that out for themselves.
I recommend this series to fans of contemporary romance and alpha heroes. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book that I received from the publisher, Carina Press.
