Oh this was such a fun book! I really enjoyed it. The writing was really light and I immediately identified with the main characters. Kim, Nicholas, Bridget, all of them were so relatable, that made the story seem so much better. I know how it feels to have someone who annoyed you and was rude to you lord over you when you meet in the future. So, I know exactly how Kim felt. And I think all of us have that one evil person in our life. I'm just really glad Kim was able to move on.

The writer captures this thing that all of us do so well. We're so wrapped up in our own worlds. We think the world revolves around us. Everyone around us is only thinking about us. And that bubble gets burst throughout the book in a very gentle way. And I really appreciated that. All the interactions in the book were witty and really enjoyable.

I do have one and only one complaint. There is one scene relating to a bath spa, and whatever happened afterwards just seems like bad taste. I felt the characters and their reactions were immature and that made me feel badly towards them. It felt so out of character for them to be so bitchy and judgemental, I kind of felt the scene could have been written more sensitively.

I received a copy from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

This is a book I was granted access to by the publisher from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. I think this was timed to go with the release of the sequel. Initially I picked this one up to read because it looked like an easy, quick read. I did leave a star-rating on Goodreads, which prompted me to pick it up again in order to properly post a review.

WHAT I LOVED: I remember reading this back in 2017 thinking how great it would be to review books. I don't know why I didn't look into blogging until 2020. I was VERY active on Goodreads and would read well over 100 books every year. Living vicariously through Kim was great the first time around, and a nice trip down memory lane the second time through.

This story feels almost nostalgic for me. Kim is in her 20's. Her high school reunion is coming up and she's just started dating someone she works with. She reads ALL THE TIME and blogs her reviews. I related to this so much, it kept me very engaged in the story. And then you throw in the "mean girl from high school wrote a book and wants me to review it" storyline, and now I am hooked. I relate so much, it hurts. Although Kim says she does not want to be a writer, somewhere in the back of my head I have always wondered if I could.

There are no shocking endings, or surprising twists and turns. What you have here is a classic chick-lit story, told by Meredith Schorr, that I like to call a "beach read." A story that takes me away from my own troubles, is a quick read, and makes me happy for the time that I read it.

After reading it a second time, I have downloaded the 2 additional books in the series, and I cannot wait to see what happens to Kim and her friends!

WHAT MADE ME SCRATCH MY HEAD: Me! I make me scratch my own head! Why did it take so long for me to leave a review? This is a book I was granted access to by the publisher back in 2016 or 2017. I actually had read this book back in 2017, and for some reason, I never put down my thoughts outside of the star-rating! I must have said I would go back and do it (sounds like me) but forgot to do so (not so much me, but can't say that anymore).

The only thing I did not like about the book is the shame that would creep up out of Kim whenever someone asked about what types of books she would review for her blog. Having a successful blog is a big deal. It's a lot of hard work to keep up with content by yourself, gain a following, and to read so many books. Yes, people will judge your reading style. But OWN IT! I have never wavered in my love for pink covers and HEA moments. Sure, my tastes have evolved into less "single in the city" and more "wedding in the city" or "mom lit." But I will always love my chick-lit roots.

Thank you for sharing the book with me via NetGalley. I'm not sure why it didn't click for me - the writing was fine and the idea is good, but the humor and characters weren't real to me. I think it felt like a New adult/YA crossover because of the obsession with high school.

This was cute, but nothing special enough for me to keep reading it.

Ok, I am going to come across really judgemental now because when I started Blogger Girl by Meredith Schorr I made a snap decision that it wasn’t going to be up to much. It was going to be a light bit of fluff that will keep me mildly entertained for 200+ pages.

Boy, was I wrong?

Meredith Schorr’s book was bloody brilliant. It was engaging and addictive. For anyone who is a fan of the modern day romance novel.

The story focuses on Kimmie, a legal assistant with no aspirations to further her career. She has a boss who allows her to use her free time in work to pursue her passion – reading books and writing about them (hands in the bucket who loves doing this too). Kimmie harbours a secret crush for office man-candy Nicholas and much to her surprise he likes her as well. But as we all know, the course of true love never runs smoothly. If Kimmie wants to keep her man she is going to have to fight for him.

I hold my hands up and fully apologise for my negative first impression of Blogger Girl. I should have known better. All praise sent to Meredith Schorr because I really loved Blogger Girl, so much so that I bought the sequel as soon as I finished the book.

Blogger Girl by Meredith Schorr is available now.

This was just a completely fun read! The perfect antidote to all of the crazy real-life drama going on in our country at this time. I thoroughly enjoyed being able to disappear into a story that brought back so many memories of high school, friendships, arch-rivals, and all of that. I would highly recommend this!

The Blogger Girl is, the first book in the series of same name by Meredith Schorr. By day, Kimberly is a legal secretary in a Manhattan law firm. By evening, Kimberly runs a blog dedicated to chick lit. As her luck would have it, one of her most hated high school classmates released a new hot book that landed in Kimberly's inbox to read/review.

Made me laugh? Yes. Fast-paced? Yes. Hard to put down? No. So so good? Um, nope. I so wanted to like this book. In the very beginning, the main character was basically me in fiction form. She had a job to pay the bills but her passion was her book blog, Pastel is the New Black. She loves reading chick lit, maintained good relationships with publishers, authors and agents, and had a good blog following. But after a while, I was no longer feeling Kimberly. Particularly when her high school nemesis came on the scene. Something shifted where the main character and the plot was no longer interesting. I am quite disappointed and will not continue with this series.

I really enjoyed Blogger Girl. Being a blogger myself, and recently in New York City, I recognised the landmarks and the similarities of life. I enjoyed the romance - unique for me, as a self-confessed cynic - and I like how the story fell into self-love along with romantic love. Can't wait to read the next instalment.

I don't read enough chick lit these days - not for lack of enjoyment, but just because I don't see as many ARCs in this genre cross my radar. I will admit that the title of this one piqued my interest first, and then the synopsis pulled me right in. I think all blogger girls will find something to relate to in this story.

Kimberly Long is a pint-sized blogger girl in the city, working as a legal secretary by day and running her book blog, Pastel is the New Black. I have to say that I am envious of her petite stature, fashion choices, and large blog following! Once I learned that Kim worked as a legal secretary, our connection was locked in place. Despite not being pint-sized myself, I related to Kim on multiple levels. From our shared shoe lust, to the book blog, to having worked as a paralegal for 8 years before I became an attorney - we definitely had a lot in common and I think I could see her as a member of my girl posse (if I were ten years younger). I felt like Kim was somewhat immature to be a 28 year old professional and she started to make me feel older than I am. Don't get me wrong - I am not at all a serious person and can be borderline ridiculous... but I felt like the way Kim was approaching her office crush and ensuing relationship, and some of her insecurities, seemed immature or the actions of a younger adult.

I enjoyed reading about the blog activities and Kim's legal work, and even Kim's budding romance with her co-worker, Nicholas. The romance wasn't the main focus of the story however... what overshadowed much of the story for me was the mean girl mentality of the women in this story. Kim and her best friend Bridget were not in the popular crowd in high school, but more than ten years later they are still caught up in the catty toxic drama of high school girls. With a high school reunion approaching, Kim and Bridget must deal with their old nemesis, Hannah, with her back-handed compliments, and fake sympathy designed to embarrass the subject of her attention. Then at the office, Kim has to deal with a bitter and condescending attorney who belittles her personally and professionally. So there was definitely a lot of we wear pink on Wednesdays mentality happening here, and it really made me thankful that I do not have this kind of drama in my life these days. I have experienced my share of this toxicity in the past, and being reminded of it made me very thankful for my current professional circumstances. Because if I was Kim, I would not have been able to refrain from hitting one of these witches with my size 6 Christian Louboutin. (Note - I don't know that she wears a size 6, but I imagine her feet are just as tiny as her 4'11" self.)

If I would have read this book at another time, I think I would have enjoyed it more. This is going to sound silly - but I found this story to be too realistic! There was nothing out of the ordinary that occurred with this book so I found it to be realistic fiction. Kim's life, relationship and even her frenemies were run-of-the-mill folks... relatable but not very exciting. Why was this a problem for me? I am tired y'all. I am experiencing some heavy political fatigue. I'm tired of all the fighting and drama... so I am looking to books these days for escapism. I don't want to read (or watch) stories about real life - I need a magical talking unicorn carrying a knight in shining armor! The frenemy drama also got to me... I see drama llamas every time I scroll social media or turn on the news. Calgon, take me away! So I think if I would have read this a year ago (or maybe a year from now)... it would have been a solid 4 stars. I have no qualms with the writing or character development or plot. But my ratings are based on how a book makes me feel, and I found myself annoyed a good amount of time with this book. Annoyed at Kim's immaturity and annoyed at the catty female behavior. The rest was fine and good, so I think that my enjoyment has more to do with my mindset than the book. So I will definitely pick up the next installment, Novelista Girl, when my drama tolerance has risen back to normal levels.

In closing, I would recommend this book to fans of realistic fiction, chick lit and to all my fellow book blogger girls. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book that I received from the publisher, Henery Press.

I've definitely found a new author. This is the second book I've read by this author and I've read them both this month!

The Blogger Girl series is actually pretty funny especially when her arch nemesis from high school wants her to read and review her new chick lit book. Of course, in high school, all this girl wanted to do was make her life miserable. So Blogger Girl (Kimberly) has a huge dilemma. Should she make nice and read this girl's book? And why oh why is this girl turning up everywhere she goes?

And then of course, there's the associate down the hall at work. Try as she may, she just doesn't seem to get his attention. Until she finally does and then her boss hires the new associate, (forget her name, but it starts with "D", her nickname starts with "S" and it's a good one) who has made it her job duty to make Kimberly's live miserable.

This was an entertaining, funny and just couldn't put it down read. And as I can't wait for the next one, I don't have to. It's already on my TBR pile. I think this is going to be a great series and I'm ready for it!

Thanks to Henery Press for approving my request and to Net Galley for providing me with a free e-galley in exchange for an honest review.

Absolutely loved that this book's lead female was a book blogger. The story, for the most part, was well written. I enjoyed the characters. I liked the strong friendships aspect coursing through the story. There were a few parts I would've adjusted: parts to the Hannah/Kim relationship. Overall, a fun and quick read.

Great but light chick lit. I sort of have missed the genre, but found this book a bit boring.

3.5 Stars.

Cute chick lit book about Kim, an "every girl living in the big city" is a legal secretary by day and a chick lit book blogger in her free time. This is a fun, light read - perfect for the beach or a dreary weekend stuck inside because you could read this one in a day. The characters were cute and likeable, particularly Kim and her two best friends, Bridget and Caroline. While the book follow the chick lit formula, it still gives you some fun surprises and makes it fun to keep reading as the book mentions the chick lit formula several times throughout when Kim references her blog. I was also pleasantly surprised that Kim and her nemesis, while they may never be friends, at least gained some mutual respect for each other.

I'll be checking out Schorr's other books for some more fun reads.

Thanks to Netgalley for an ARC copy in exchange for an honest review.

I loved this book so much1 I read it straight through, only stopping to sleep.

Kim Long is a legal secretary but what she really loves is reading chick lit and writing reviews on her blog. She sets her heart on hot Nicholas Strong, one of the associate lawyers at her firm. They eventually get together. She then learns that her high school nemesis has writted a book. A chick lit book. They want her to review it for her blog but she is hesitant. She talks it over with Nicholas who suggests that what she really ahs against the author is that she wishes she were an author. They argue and break up.

Kim takes a long look at her life and what she really wants from it. This is a great book, a wonderful quick read if you are like me and love chick lit. You won’t want to put it down! 🙂

After my review of A State of Jane I ended with saying I was looking forward to another book by Meredith Schorr that was on my list.
As you can guess, that book is Blogger Girl. And I'm happy to have read it. Blogger Girl is already more mature than A State of Jane, better written and generally more to my liking. Well, how could anyone here on Goodreads who likes writing reviews, of even has a blog of her own (not too many man here who like chicklit) not like this book?
I do not have a blog. But after reading Blogger Girl I am very tempted to start one. Meredith Schorr gives us a funny but serious insight in how life-changing events can creep up on you without you knowing. How to overcome your biggest fears and most of all, how to follow your hart and reinvent yourself!
I really liked the main character Kimberly (Kim/Kimmie) because she is hardworking and willing to go just a little further but I must admit that I almost liked Hannah, Kim's old 'enemy' from high school, a little better. Not because she is nice, but because she is actually very insecure and hiding it very well by being a real bitch. And yet, she did what she wanted to do: she wrote a book. While Kim still only thinks about it.
There is a lot going on here, and yes, it is chicklit so there is a man involved. But the book is not only about 'finding the right guy', it is about 'finding yourself'.
I certainly hope Meredith Schorr can keep this up and write a lot more of these funny and interesting books.

Blogger girl was a quick and easy read, and as you know I never consider this a bad thing. I read this book within two days, and I found it to be super fun. The main character is a book blogger named Kim (hmm.. Like me) Her friends call her Kimmie (like me and spelled the same way) , however this is where these comparisons sadly end. Kim's book blog Pastel is the new black is insanely popular, reviews Chick Lit books and has a pretty Cushy job in a lawyers office that lets her read and write reviews. This made me a little bit jealous of her, well that and her tiny body and huge boobs but that is besides the point.

Kim is a likable character but she's way too complacent with her life. It's not until she finds out her childhood bully has written a book, and that it's chick lit to boot, that things finally start to crack. She's asked to review the book and the moral dilemma for Kimmie begins (I feel like she wouldn't mind me calling her Kimmie). You start to realize right away though that Kim is refusing to realize the real reason why she's so upset, and despite the numerous people and signs that are telling her what she really wants to keeps denying it.

The side characters were very enjoyable to, Kim's best friends Bridget and Caroline were so great and supportive. I always like supportive friends in books, none of that jealous crap thanks. Also, Nicolas, Kim's romantic lead, was pretty great and caring. I've gotten pretty fed up with the girls falling for the dangerous bad boy type. This time it's the workaholic lawyer who just tries to push you to towards your dreams. Too bad Kim let her insecurities get the better of her.

The ending was pretty great and I am so glad that while I saw it coming a mile away Schorr didn't let me feel like it was predictable and sappy. Schorr's writing was refreshingly witty and while there were some cliché moments in the book I was really glad that she kept it to a minimum. Since this is a planned series I can't wait to read her second book and find out what happened to Kim.

Did you ever read a book that you just didn't want to end? Well that is how I felt about Blogger Girl… I was so disappointed to reach the last page… I wanted the book to go on forever…

By far, this is one of the best books I have read in a while. I loved everything about it - probably because there was so much going on. All the supporting characters were terrific. They were fully fleshed out and added immensely to the story. I enjoyed that there were numerous sub stories as well. Kim was such a relatable character. She had me laughing out loud at many times. But I also shed a tear or two…

I was so excited to see a book about a Blogger. This was so much fun to read. Do you want to know what it is like to be a book blogger? Pick up this book. Kim is a chick lit blogger and she has a day job that allows her to do both things at once. Kim meets a man; of course, chick lit!, and she has to balance her life so that she can do all of the things she loves.

Is she really working on her true passion? Maybe, maybe not. What will happen at her class reunion? Will she ever be ok around other people whose job titles are "so much more" than secretary and blogger? I thoroughly enjoyed this book and can't wait to pick up the rest in the series. Thank you to the publishers and Netgalley for letting me read this E-ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I can't believe that I haven't read this book sooner!
MUST READ Chick Lit book for everyone!
Let me first state that this book, in some ways, is close to my life! I am a paralegal in a law firm and I have my own up and coming book blog!
Kimberly Long is obsessed with Chick Lit, so much so that a few years back she created an amazing blog dedicated to it, Pastel is the New Black! She is constantly in contact with authors and publishers who are dying to work with her and have their book be the next that she reviews.
She has an amazing boss, Rob, who allows her to review, read and write book reviews while on the job as long as her work is taken care of! (I do the same as well, I am currently half way done with my Monday at work and blogging away).
Then he joins the firm...
She can't get him out of her mind and hopes that each and every day they have some reason to converse. Does he have a girlfriend? Would he ever be interested in dating her?
As if her life wasn't crazy enough, then her high school reunion rolls around. And so does - Hannah Marshak, the evil girl who used to torment her in high school.
And if that was bad enough, Hannah is releasing a chick lit novel and wants Kimberly to review it!
So many twists and turns and ups and downs, Blogger Girl will have you wanting to read until the early hours of each morning till you are done!
