I love mc themed book and this one was right on.It was a a love story withZach having biker friends and Grace being a rich girl. The story was steamy and sexy and had me rooting for them till the end.I would definately read more by this author.
This was my first Christina Phillips book so I had no expectations going in. However, I was left wanting more from the story. I felt the story went through the motions of emotions but didn't truly capture them. The story never ended grabbing me in the feels.
I liked the idea of the book more than the actual story unfortunately.
Grace the rich girl and is under her family's thumb and Zach the bad ass biker. One broken down car and some assumptions combined with a quick dirty romp and then Zach finds 'love' and Grace follows her dreams.
Like I said the idea was good but not once was I enveloped into the characters feeling their emotions which sadly leaves me wanting more than I actually got from the story.
The story begins quickly with sizzling chemistry and sexy times when Zach and Grace first meet, but this is followed by the development of their connection beyond the physical.
Grace doesn't have expectations of or stereotype Zach. She is open to what may happen between them, and enjoys the moments she is with him. Zach is comfortable being taken as a rough and tough person, yet he constantly shows his caring, tender side with his instinctive thoughts about and actions towards Grace. Outwardly, each seems relaxed and casual about the relationship, and this helps them be comfortable and grow despite their intentions to keep it short-term.
Hooked is definitely an enjoyable read. I liked Zach's and Grace's willingness to compromise while staying true to themselves, and their ability to be vulnerable and honest with each other. The Motorcycle Club element is secondary to the couple's story. There are several interesting supporting characters whose stories are surely forthcoming, and Christina Phillips is an author I will keep in mind.
Great MC read. I was hooked from beginning to end, Zach and Grace have a steamy chemistry and I really liked the story. The story has plenty of drama and suspense and the sex is steamy. A really good MC Read.
While not a new author by any means, Christina Phillips was new to me, and I have to say that I enjoyed myself immensely with this start to her newest MC club series. It was dirty and fun and I enjoyed the characters and the way they worked out their romance coming from opposite sides of the tracks.
Grace was the princess in the ivory tower who did what everyone expected of her. She was the good daughter, the sensible sister and the goody two shoes she was expected to be. Zach on the other hand was the guy from the bad side of town. He was rough and dirty (in the best possible way) and didn’t put much stock in women or relationships. But when they got together, I really liked the way that they brought out the best in each other. Zach encouraged Grace to go for her dreams and stand up for what she wanted. Around Zach, she could be herself. She was still the princess, still the gracious person she always was. Just a bolder and more secure version.
And Grace gentled Zach. Without even trying, she brought out a caring man who valued his family. Who wanted the right woman without even knowing it. Who fell in love without realizing it and found himself deep in a relationship he never knew he was in until it was too late for his heart.
Despite the dirty sex and the gritty settings, this story at its core was actually pretty sweet.
Now, the drawbacks. A goodie two shoes is not going to have sex with a biker after walking into a bar on a rainy night when all she was after was a phone to call a tow truck. And even if she was, it was not going to happen quite that fast.
I’m talking super duper fast.
And for an MC story, there was a real lack of the MC feel. This was more a love story where the main character drove a motorcycle and had some friends that drove them too. It hit the right buzzwords that an MC romance would use, but it didn’t have the feel I’m used to when reading about a club. It was MC-lite.
Nevertheless, I really enjoyed this story. I found the characters engaging, and if I’m invested and rooting for them to get together at the end of the story, then the author did something really right.
This was a super hot and steamy read between a bad boy MC biker and a pampered rich princess. But what you see isn't always what you get. What happens when two people from the opposite sides of the track somehow meet and the middle road doesn't seem as far away as they thought? This was my first Christina Phillips novel but was definitely not my last!
Grace and Zach are as close as opposites as you can get. Different upbringings, different friends and different lifestyles. As different as different can get. But after a chance meeting, an attraction like theirs just could not be denied. I absolutely loved this novel! I loved that Grace gave as good as she got and was not afraid to speak her mind to the intimidating and hard-headed MC Biker that was Zach. He in turn knew that she was a once in a lifetime find but needed to get his head around to the idea that she was his forever girl. This novel had passion, laughs, steamy times, butterflies and was an all around amazing read! Bravo! 4 Stars! ~Ratula
I would like to thank NetGalley and Entangled Publishing for an advanced copy of this novel for an honest review.
Loved it! 5 star read!!!
This is a safe biker romance with choice smut thrown in to keep things lively. I hope the author keeps the rest of the series like this one. Please, please, PLEASE!!! Hooked was gritty but real, sexy and sweet. I loved every minute of it!!!
When a dead cell phone and car trouble lands Grace in a seedy biker bar, she draws the attention of cocky biker boy, Zach.
After finally breaking up with her fiancé of four years, Grace throws caution out the window and takes up Zach's offer of a hot and dirty ONS. But Zach, with his hard exterior and wild lifestyle isnt at all what she expected. And the live wire connection that pulses between them isn't casual or meaningless. Its a whole lot of complicated, but the reward is sweeter than anything she ever imagined.
Zach is that possessive, protective, crazy-about-his-girl caveman that I obsess over and I'm so happy I read his story! He has some hidden depths that had me melting into a puddle a few times. He is definitely more than meets the eye.
I loved this short quickie. It's like the white buffalo of biker/MC books. Why? Because its a rare find. Why rare! Because it's 100% safe. Who doesn't want that dark, edgy, dangerous bad boy without all the gross side effects? (I'm talking about the sharing/unsanitary/down-right nasty MC going-ons typical in MC books.) This girl, that's who.
This is a first in a new series and I can't wait to check out the rest of them. Here's to hoping the author sticks to sexy faithful bikers just like Zach!!
This is a fun and quick read. Even though I hate insta-lust story I was "hooked" I was interested in the characters and wanted to know how the story would unravel.
There’s no wasting time in getting to the good stuff!
Grace throws all inhibitions to the wind – or shall I say on the pool table in the back room of Odin’s – when she meets the handsome, bad-boy biker Zach. Newly single from a relationship she felt pressured into to please her wealthy family, she’s looking for some fun, and she got it…and then some. Zach knows that good little rich girls like using him and his brothers for their fantasies and to rebel against their families and he was all too happy to oblige. Once was all it’d be…so they thought.
Grace doesn’t demand anything from Zach like some of his former flings have attempted, and her relaxed, go-with-the-flow attitude turns him on as much as her red hair and gorgeous bod. For some reason -one he can’t fathom- he’s into her for more than sex, but he’d be damn if he admits it. At least not too soon and not where anyone can overhear. He does have a reputation to protect.
His he-couldn’t-care-less attitude doesn’t push Grace away, and before either of them realize it, they’re in a relationship. They don’t verbally label what they have, but it’s obvious to all those around them. Phillips definitely has a way with words and the scorching hot sex scenes are just icing on the cupcake (read the book and you’ll get that). Hard truths about biker life are not ignored, but the characters are as believable as they are charming (if one can describe a biker as such). Zach has an inner gentleman and Grace’s bad girl rears her pretty head. Together these two are explosive and as different as they are, they are perfect for each other. I want more of these two!
I was pleasantly surprised how much I liked Hooked. I assumed it might be light on the love story and heavy on the sex scenes, but the story was well developed, romantic and entertaining. There is a lot of sex, and they are well-written, Kindle-fogging interludes. Hooked is good girl meets bad boy romance with a nice biker twist. Zach likes to think he is just a hardened, tough “outlaw,” but he discovers he has a soft spot when he meets Grace. I think you’ll love this sexy story.
Oh gosh! I really liked this.
Grace's car breaks down during a rain storm outside a seedy looking bar. She goes in needing to use the phone and meets Zach, a member of the Viking Bastard MC. He propositions her, thinking she's looking for some fun. Grace agrees and their one night quickly turns into more for both of them.
I loved that Grace saw a different side to Zach that he didn't even realize he had. And I loved that he gave her the confidence to follow her dreams. There wasn't a lot of MC business in here and definitely was not as dark and gritty as others in this subgenre have been.
I can't wait to see Zach's fellow MC brothers fall in love.
*thanks to the publisher for sharing a copy of this with me*
Not what I was expecting for an MC type book.
Even with that said I was not disappointed at all. Grace and Zach are more in the category of opposites attract and less MC club book. Their chemistry works in and out of the bedroom. I always love when a pampered princess type finds her way to her true nature.
Would I recommend this book? Definitely! Not only was it a very nice romance with some heat in it for added appeal, but it is a great way for someone to experience a slow ride into what some consider a darker side of books, MC books that is. Wonderfully written with two main characters that will enrapture you.
Great story of love from different classes overcoming what they think is prejudice when in fact its truthfulness and their own prejudices that they have to get by.
Subtle scenes not tacky make this a love story you'll love to read
Short easy sassy story of bad boy meets good girl. More like the princess and the rouge.
Very easy low drama except for the end and that wasn't too bad. Slow thinking Zach though doesnt figure out till the end and break my chains stand on my own two feet Grace let's him sweat it out.
Received a cope from the publisher through NetGalley.
Hooked is the first book in a new series by Christine Phillips. I was so excited that I got a chance to try this story and this author out, so thank you Entangled Publishing and Tasty Book Tours for the opportunity. I have wanted to try this author out, and she does a good variety both contemporary and historical. But I have a weakness for MC, so I was intrigued by the set up of this one. It sets off with our heroine, she has just broken off her engagement and her car has broken down and not in the best part of town. But there is a bar right across the strong, so she walks in like she own the place, wet as all get out but still classy as she can be in a bar that is full of rough riders and MC members. But there is one that catches her eye. A man who is rough around the edges and yeah they get it on pretty quickly. They begin to have a fling. Graec, is looking for something different from her boring life. And Zach is the perfect distraction. But what starts out as just a casual fling for both of them starts to turn into something much deeper. A relationship Grace is ready for, but Zach isn't. He doesn't do relationship, he has some emotional baggage and doesn't know how to do serious romantic entanglements. But he can't seem to resist Grace, or want to be with her all the time. There is some drama that happens but I loved seeing these two come together on a emotional level. The story is pretty erotic at times and they definitely have some powerful chemistry. But they are also good for each other in the ways that matter. I love that Zach sees the real grace, beneath what she portrays to the world and to her family. He encourages her to give up her current job, and start on her dream: to have a cupcake business (which she is super talented at). This pair does have some set backs especially when it comes to her family. But I liked the way they resolve the situation. The only downside was the ending. It was pretty quick and abrupt and had more of a happy for now instead of a happy ever after that I was expecting. But overall a sizzling romance that packs a punch.
Hooked was an apt name for this book. I was hooked immediately. Phillips gives us so much
insight into Zach and Grace through their thoughts that it was easy to like them from the very beginning. The entire opening scene would give the reader much different impressions of the two if not for these insights into their frames of mind. Zach’s initial impression that Grace is just looking for a wild, quick hookup with a dangerous biker is fun to watch. He takes nothing she says literally since he used to girls feeding him similar lines because they don’t want to come out and state "I’m here for sex". It’s great watching the wonder in his realization that her car really did break down and her cell phone really is dead. He’s suddenly forced to completely revise his impression of her. It was also very interesting to see the good girl from the right part of town come to the conclusion that now that the situation had presented itself she really could walk on the wild side for a quick lay with the smoking hot biker.
To the reader, it’s obvious from the beginning that neither of these two is being honest when they tell themselves they aren’t interested in a relationship but Grace and Zach take a while to admit it’s not short-term fun and they can’t just walk away. Neither is a stereotype of their upbringing though on the surface they appear to be the bad biker and pampered rich girl.
Grace never really thinks of Zach by the typical prejudices but Zach is bad about assuming Grace is embarrassed of him around her family.
I was enthralled with Zach as he learns to have his first meaningful relationship with a woman. He has to learn and embrace emotions that are foreign to him and learn to let go of the chip on his shoulder to understand that Grace really has no prejudices against his societal situation and
that her motives are always to protect him, not to hide him from her family. It takes him much of the book to admit Grace really is guileless though I think that trait is exactly why he is so drawn to her that he breaks all his rules meant to distance himself from women and relationships. Phillips creates the perfect blend of macho, alpha male and sensitive, caring lover.
Though Zach is in an outlaw motorcycle club, I wouldn’t call this a motorcycle themed book.
We don’t see much of his associates and when we do it’s personal interaction with Zach not club oriented. There’s some mention of the type of girls normally associated with the club, the specific social structure within such a group, and hints they may have shading dealings but Grace and Zach’s relationship happens outside these with almost no interference and influence by the other bikers. The club is more an explanation for Zach’s attitudes about women and life in general than a factor in the story.
Phillips uses great dialog and introspective exploration of their rawest human emotions to create fascinating characters and spin a compelling story. I could barely put the book down to get my office work done. I even ended up crying at my desk when Zach finally realizes and declares how he feels for Grace. Brava, Ms. Phillips.

HOOKED is a story of two people from vastly different backgrounds, who find solace and passion in providing the strength and emotional support they each need to complete their lives. And while their sexual chemistry is undeniable, Zack and Grace also discover a depth in their connection that far surpasses the mere physical.
This is a quick read, with a strong storyline and engaging characters, that I’m sure will be extremely popular and have readers wanting more.
From the first chapter I was hooked on this book. It starts out so wild and crazy and the wild ride is far from over after the first chapter. It just builds and the story gets better and better as you go along! This book has a perfect amount of steamy scenes and complex characters who need to get out of their own heads. I couldn't put this book down I was just so intrigued by what was going to happen next and where they were going to do it next. The way Grace just seemed to fit into his world and make it better was great. He had a bit tougher time when he got to Malibu but it was good to see him try. Great characters and great writing - can't wait to read more from this author.
This book wasn't really what I was expecting from the description. I was expecting a hardcore biker book, where this was more a cute contemporary romance with steamy moments and a male lead who was part of a motorcycle club. There was very little action involving the motorcycle club. I liked that the author took time to give details and depth to the back stories of the characters, and I really liked Grace. I enjoyed the way that the two main characters complemented each other as their weaknesses, Grace lacked confidence to pursue her dreams and Zach didn't want to allow himself to care about a woman, were the others strengths. I think something that would have made this book a little better is a second plot line, as my only major critique is the story is a little "fluffy".
