This book wasn’t as good as the last one I read. It was okay with a lot of drama. The storyline was okay for what it was worth. The characters were likable or I should say some were liable. Others you just wanted to run them over with a freight train. The best part of this book for me was the last few chapters. Other than those bits at the end, nothing too much really happened.
This is your last chance. Rydell knows that his ex wife Addison won't what to know his story after their history but he really needs her help well boat actually. Addison can't believe that he is here after all that has happened and he expects her just to fall into line well that isn't happening.
All Ry knows is once he gets his hand on the silver all his troubles will be over but he needs to win Addy over and hopefully they can move on from the past together.
They both find out what happened a year ago and how the death of their daughter Sophie destroyed their love. They find out that someone made sure that they would never be happy together and Addy needs that person to answer for so much.
They are attacked by pirates and with the help of their security team they get through it but just when Ry thinks that things are getting better it just turned into a shit storm. Addy is held hostage and they aren't just go to let her go without what they art and she will be lost to Ry again. But he isn't going to give up on her, he loves her too much and he needs her to complete him. Can Addy get herself through this situation so that she can move on with Ry or will it be all too late?
What a great read full of action, adventure, sadness and a deep sense of love and forgiveness. I was lucky enough to receive a copy in exchange for an honest review via Netgalley & the publishing house.
I simply loved this book. The story was well developed and there was a very good balance between romance, conflict and action. I loved both main characters and their love for each other was out of this world. Cherry managed to make me really feel for those two and the things they went through.
If you like well written romance packed with heath, love and action then don't go any further, you won't be disappointed!
Having just recently read Stormchaser, the previous book in this series, I wasn't sure about reading a book where the hero of this book was the villain in the last book. However, not everything is at seems when it comes to Rydell. The chemistry between Rydell and his ex-wife, Addy, who is forced to joined this expedition was explosive. This book had everything in it that you'd expect in a Cherry Adair novel. Steamy romance, adventure, intrigue and more than a few characters that you want to throw overboard! Cherry Adair, please keep these great books coming!
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this novel.
Rydell Case is on the ropes. He needs to "borrow" his ex wife's boat. His was hi jacked and wrecked. He needs a boat to do a salvage job on a wreck. His ex wife Addy is not happy to see him. They both are hurting from a loss that they each dealt with in different ways. Addys ex Naveen is hanging around hoping to hook back up with Addy. Rydell wants Addy back and the two men together on one ship is not a good idea. Naveen has ulterior motives for his relationship with Addy but we don't know what they are right away.
There is a lot of heartbreak in this story. There is also a lot of romance and action. The story drew me in right from the start. This is part of a series. I have read the others but I think the reader could read this book even if they haven't done any other books in the series. Thank you to net galley for an advanced readers copy.
Following on the heels of Stormchaser, a reader would be hard pressed to care about Rydell. From all accounts, the guy is a jerk and gets what he deserves. As the old adage goes, there are two sides to every story. Rydell's story is sad and breaks my heart a bit. He is not a bad guy and he isn't even unscrupulous. He is painted in a very bad light and it appears no one has his back. He is all alone. I came into this story ready to hate Rydell. Instead, this anti-hero is really not an anti-hero. He is a man who has lost much and done everything he can to still provide for the ex-wife who threw him away.
This story made me very angry. Violently angry as the story unfolds and exposes the heinous conspiracies against Rydell. The horribly shabby way that Rydell is subject to makes me furious and makes him more endearing to me. Addison, his ex-wife is a self-righteous, flighty floozy. Ms. Adair tries to paint her out as a woman wronged and justified for the actions she takes. Instead, Addison comes across as a spoiled clueless socialite who is shallow and vain. I did not like her one bit. Even after learning the trauma she experienced, it does not move me. Why? Because she comes across as too stupid to live. Fact, her mother hates Rydell. Fact, Rydall loved her and would do anything for her. So when Rydell behaves in a way that makes no sense, does she confront him in person? No. She just closes down and lets others who have never had her best interests at heart take over. And this is why I despise Addison and find her worthless.
Whilst the plot hints at treasure hunting, this story's focus is more about the dysfunctional relationship Addison has with everyone: her ex-husband, former friends, mother and fiancé. There is a bit of suspense which works well with the plotline as it explains both her fiancé and mother. In addition, it just shows Addison off in worse light because now she comes across as naïve and extremely foolish. Truly, it is a marvel how she survives in this world.
The sexual tension between Rydell and Addison is the only redeeming thing about Addison. Her responses to Rydell generate a guilty pleasure which amuses me. Rydell is sex on a stick. He is a demanding lover and a rather thoughtful person. It is interesting to see how shoddily he's been portrayed. Ms. Adair does an excellent job of un-tarnishing his armour and restoring him to a white knight. This romantic suspense is recommended to romance readers who love anti-heroes with a heart of gold.
Rydell is not what I expected. After reading the other Cutter books, I was left with the impression that he was the bad guy, the villain. In Hurricane, I got quite a different perspective on him. He's a man that has been hurt over and over again. But still continues to get up every morning and fight for what he believes in. His ex-wife is one of the hurts. But he still loves her and would die protecting her if that's what it would take.
Addison is also hurting. One of the problems she has, is not knowing who she can trust. Unfortunately she makes a few bad choices, and has to make the best of the bed she's made. She also has never stopped loving Rydell, but loving him was never the hard part.
Hurricane is a great book about second chances, villains getting their happily ever after, and a kick ass suspenseful plot too.
Rydell is about to bite off more than any mere mortal should face at one time. He wants to win back his wife and hunt down a dream treasure that is sure to set his crew for life. The only problem, he’s been facing some seriously bad luck. His ship was highjacked and destroyed leaving him no other alternative than take over his ex-wife’s ship from the divorce settlement and win back over her crew.
Lots of rough water ahead for both Addison and Rydel, even a salvage ship isn’t big enough to hid from each other and the issues that tore them apart.
Hurricane is a high sea adventure with a good dose of steamy romance on the side.
I received this ARC copy of Hurricane from St. Martin's Press. This is my voluntary and honest review. Hurricane is set for publication March 7, 2017.

Right from he get go I felt lost but it makes sense since I haven't read any of the other books. I don't think it's fair to give this anything less than a 3 star because of that fact but I can't give it more either. It didn't pull me in as if it were a great standalone. There is just too much im missing. Hopefully I can come back later on and read this with a clear view of the others.
Good storyline, likeable characters. Good second chance romance, intrigue.
Sorry, it didn't work for me, I struggled with it but I'm sure others will love it.
