You know that book game where you read the first page of a few books and then you decide which is the one you want to read next? It's very similar to this, except there are a few chapters that are supposed to get you into the story. I think for me, personally, the stories were a bit too cozy. While I love mysteries and getting to the know of them, I guess this type of books is not really up my alley. I wanted to give it a try and test it and I got my answer.
You can't go wrong with Cozy mysteries. All of the stories were great. You really can't go wrong here.
I loved this sampler and found quite a few books to add to my wishlist on Amazon. I'm happy that you have added it to Amazon as a free download. I have recommended it to a few people I know that like Cozy mysteries.
This is a fun collection of excerpts of cozy mysteries to be released in winter 2017 by various publishers. Many favorite cozy authors are here and some unknown to me . I enjoyed Fudge & Jury, Death at The Yoga Cafe and Of Books and Bagpipes. Number 2 Feline Detective is a big hit and a very fun read for all cat lovers . I look forward to reading these in their entirety when released. Thank you for the opportunity to review these wonderful mysteries.
I absolutely loved this book!! I'm a sucker for cozy mysteries and for short stories. This fit the bill for me all the way around. There wasn't a single story that I didn't enjoy!
A wonderful compilation of cozy mysteries, every one a fun enjoyable story with characters and storylines that any fan of the genre will love and appreciate. 5 stars and everyone honestly earned. I have recommended this to several friends and everyone has reported back positively! A book to go back and reread with a cup of tea on a day off!
My rating: 5 of 5 stars, it was exactly what it claimed to be, a sampler of cozy mysteries that I highly enjoyed.
This is nice sampler of 14 cozy mysteries published by St. Martin's Press in the spring/summer of 2017. I had only read books by a few of the authors with excerpts in this book, so it was a nice introduction to the other authors' work.
This sampler did as it was intended, and whetted my appetite for these new releases. Of course, now I am quite impatient to read the complete stories, haha.
I enjoy these light mysteries as they are fun to read and make for a good rainy day get away. After reading one of the samples of the Cozy Case Files, I found it at my local library and read the whole story. It was enjoyable.and entertaining. I would definitely recommend the sampler to get an idea of some of these stories.
This is a collection of EXCERPTS by 14 different cozy mystery authors. It's a nice collection of samples esp. if you're looking to find a new cozy author to read, which you may or may not have ever read their books, but wondered what their books are about
In my case, I had only known of 1 of the authors, unless some authors are writing under a different pseudonym. Gave me some new authors to look what else they've written and/or how many other books are in their series, for the excerpts I enjoyed. I'll admit, I was disappointed when I saw it was a sampler, on the plus side, I found some authors I'd like to follow up in future, reading their full length books
I'd recommend this book of samples for those who may not have ever read a cozy mystery, they can read this collection & see if it's a genre they'd enjoy. Also, for those that already enjoy the cozy genre, to read & find new authors they'd like to add to their cozy mystery list
I received a digital copy from Net Galley & St. Martin's Press/Minotaur Publishing. In return I wrote an honest review
Princess Fuzzypants here:
I have always loved anthologies as a way to sample different authors. This book is an anthology of sorts but rather than having short stories, it has shortened stories. They give you just enough of the story to get hooked and then stop. If you enjoyed the book so far, the idea is for you to buy the whole thing.
It is a very clever idea.
It permits the reader to see if the content and style is to his or her liking and may introduce authors to new fans. The only thing that is frustrating is getting so far into the book and then= move down, clean cups.
Still I will give this four purrs and two paws up for the quality of the stories included.
This sampler is a collection of the first chapters of some of the cozy mysteries that will be released in the Spring and Summer of 2017. I really enjoyed all of the stories and look forward to reading the full length novels. I always enjoy finding new authors and this also has some favorite authors as well. It gives you a chance to add some new books to your TBR pile and be on the lookout for them,
I cannot believe some of these weren't already on my radar! What a great selection of titles.
This was a cute sample of several new cozy mysteries that will be released over the next few months.
They all share a few chapters of their books, giving the reader a chance to discover a new author or become reacquainted with an old author.
It's an ideal situation for everyone.
This is a nice collection of cozy mysteries that gave me sneak peek at books that were already on my list to read and introduce me to other series.
This sampler is a collection of the first few chapters of cozy mysteries due to be released in the Spring/Summer of 2017. It's a good way to find books you may want to read but might not otherwise consider. There are 14 mysteries included, all by different authors. Some of the authors are more well known than others. I enjoyed reading the different writing styles and getting to know a little about the characters.
Out of the 14 authors, I've read four and plan on reading their next book. Out of the remaining 10 authors, I'm interested in three of them and plan on reading their next book.
A great sampler collection of books to look forward to and add to your TBR list.
I love cozy mysteries and have been looking for a new "light" read to help balance all of the new non-fiction which I have been previewing lately. As a result, I was very excited to see COZY CASE FILES offered by Net Galley. So excited, in fact, that I didn't realize that instead of being a collection of short stories by several authors, COZY CASE FILES is actually a set of excerpts (often the first 3 or 4 chapters) of forthcoming mystery books from Minotaur/St. Martin's. There are some familiar names (Frances Brody, Paige Shelton and G. M. Malliet) and I am already looking forward to reading their longer works.
