Received an ARC from NetGalley for a honest review.

This was cute. I always love a friends-to-lovers trope, but I'm not always crazy about a surprise pregnancy. While I liked the start of this one, I feel like halfway through things started rushing and I almost wanted the author to take a little more time to tell the story. I'd have been interested to get more of Tucker and Elle's backstory, get more follow up with his ex, see more family time. That said, the love scenes were nice and spicy.

An enjoyable, quick read.

Not for me. The writing is good, but there was just too many scenarios I didn’t like. Heroine and hero have night of passion, but both are scared to tell their real feelings for each other, so they remain friends. Heroine ends up pregnant. The hero supposedly is in love with the heroine, but he quickly gets with another woman after sleeping with the heroine; he has this girlfriend for a lot of this book and there’s sexual moments with said girlfriend that the heroine hears. Just gross. Not a fan of hero being such a moron and I didn’t feel his supposed love for the heroine. This just isn’t for me. I’ve read other books by this author I’ve enjoyed, so I’ll continue to read this author.

This book was so entertaining. I was drawn into the story from the beginning and was involved until the end. The characters were complex and interesting. I found the story to be well paced and engrossing throughout the whole book. I was invested in the couple throughout the book and felt all the emotions through both the highs and lows of the story. The side characters were such an integral part of this story as well. This is the love story i needed to read at this time. If you want an entertaining and well written book this is it for you

This was an okay story but I don't feel like Erin McCarthy did a good job of pulling in the reader. I didn't really connect with the either or the heroine.

I.love Erin McCarthy and I kind of liked this book. It took me a while to really put it to the forefront and concentrate but once I did...it flowed. The thing is - there are some books that i have to work hard at to read and then others i don't. This one i did.

LOVE TAKER by Erin McCarthy is the third book in the series and in my opinion it was the best in the series.

This third book is Elle and Tucker, best friends for as long as they can remember and when things are going bad for Elle on her latest date who does she call, not her famous sister but her best friend Tucker and he is so worried about her that he drives four hours to make sure that she is ok.

One night of comfort between best friends turn into one morning of passion and one month later a little surprise growing inside Elle. This was not supposed to happen, it was only ever about Tucker showing Elle what an amazing women she is, even though Tucker has loved Elle forever. What will happen between Elle and Tucker, will they end up together to raise the baby????

LOVE TAKER by Erin McCarthy was such a great book and even though it is the third book in the series it can be read as a stand alone as only the characters in the book cross over. I would give LOVE TAKER 4/5 stars.

I wasn't able to get into this one. I tried until 57% and decided it just wasn't for me. Thank you for the opportunity to read this title.

LOVE TAKER - Erin McCarthy

#3 in the Nashville Nights romance series

DISAPPOINTING CHARACTERS - 3 stars

Plot - 3 stars - Elle (sister of country star Jolene Hart) is a successful make-up artist to the stars. To deal with her unhappy childhood, she developed a sarcastic personality and keeps searching for the perfect guy. But she's depended on her friendship with old friend Tucker for moral support. When they spend a night together, their relationship changes.

Writing - 4 stars - McCarthy always captures my attention from the first page. She writes in a nice, easy-to-read, casual style, with some hot romantic scenes and friendly banter.

Characters - 2 stars - This is where the story fell far short for me. Tucker is, on the surface, a good romantic hero. He's good-looking, loyal, friendly, and super practical. He's the good guy who always gets overlooked. But his platonic friendship with Elle, despite his attraction to her, seems almost sad and certainly surprising that he hasn't had the gumption to do anything about it. He's a little too wishy-washy for me, and his "taking control" persona after their one night together, is a little too unbelievable for me, not making up for all the years of waiting. Elle, for her part, is very unattractive. She's all take-take-take with everyone, but especially Tucker. And she's constantly on the search for the perfect guy but looking in all the wrong places. It was hard to like her. I understand that her personality is meant to have developed into snark as a protection against all the do-gooders and ignorers of her childhood, but it didn't come across as a positive in this book. I guess there wasn't enough build-up and backstory about her to explain away her bitchiness. And the fact that she walked all over Tucker was annoying and didn't reflect well on either of them.

Title - 3 stars - The title is explained towards the end of the book, and it makes sense. Tucker feels that Elle took his heart right from the beginning--she was his "love taker." Then he feels the same way about his child. But in a negative sense, it works also because Elle is definitely a taker.

Cover - 3.5 stars - Not bad. It's definitely an attractive couple, and there's more of a pose between them than the typical hot male abs, but there's not a lot to draw the eye.

Overview - 3 stars - Let me first state that I'm an Erin McCarthy fan. But this one was definitely a miss for me. Elle was a totally unlikeable character, so I had a hard time caring about her romantic success. And Tucker was too much of a wimp. Not saying all romantic heroes need to be alphas, but his "alpha-ness" in the bedroom came way too late to make him appealing. I also thought the book was too condensed. Even if the characters are unlikeable, if there's a reason for it, then I'm OK with that. But this book didn't allow enough time to create a backstory to explain Elle's snarkiness or even her need for independence. Previous books in this series were much better built and well-rounded. This book seemed like a rush job, and it didn't turn out to be successful, almost as though McCarthy herself didn't even like the characters. All that being said, I will definitely look for more from this author. Everyone's entitled to a miss now and then.

I loved Elle. Didn’t completely love Tucker for part of the book, but I knew he’d grow on me, and I ended up loving him too. A great book!

Third book in the series, but not necessary to have read the first two to get the story. If you've read the first two, it's a nice continuance for those characters. The book description will tell you about the book, so these are my views. Elle is the main character and she isn't all that likable. She wants what she wants and doesn't want to compromise on anything, for the most part she only thinks of herself. We meet Tucker after some guy tells her what he really thinks of her, and he comes to her emotional rescue, as he has for years. Tucker tries to move on with other women, but always runs to Elle if she needs him, so he gets dumped which you can understand the other women's desire to not be always second to a ghost of his past. Both characters need to man up and really think about what they want and what it's worth to them to get it. Events happen that finally make both of them realize what matters, Elle most of all. I had hope in her and it finally came to fruition, no disappointment.

This was the 3rd rocker romance I've read recently and it was good - it just didn't measure up to Kylie Scott's.

DNF
Fail at 32%.
Elle up to 32% had no redeeming qualities. Selfish, emotionally dependent, lacking in self-esteem, whiny.
I felt sorry for good guy Tucker. Run, Tucker, run!

Love this series, this one was no exception. Elle is such a sassy, spunky heroine you can't help but love her and Tucker, OMG he is such a sweetheart, they are complete opposites but together they are perfect!

The final book in the Nashville trilogy. Elle has always relied on her pal Tucker. She cries on his shoulder over boyfriends. When things go farther one night, their whole loves change. ARC from NetGalley.

I love how Katie McGary's characters have such a deep, passionate love that there really are no words to describe how they feel, yet in the description of their loss for words we see love portrayed in a way that we are all nodding our heads in agreement. She shows us that love is feelings, not words. And , oh my, McGary knows how to pull those feelings from us!
I don't think I have ever finished a book by her and had anything I would like McGary to do differently in her books, but this time I do have to say that I wanted to live those skipped months in the epilogue. I wanted to read about every minute in the story of Tucker and Elle!

I voluntarily read an advanced review copy of this book

This book was beautiful. I loved Elle Hart even though at times she was very selfish. Putting that aside her emotions were so real... she was so raw...even her selfish side was beautiful because she could have been any of our friends going through something and you could not help but want to shake her...or hug her and tell her that it is going to be ok.

Now finally to get to my husband in my mind Tucker. He was such a good man always doing what he thought everyone wanted all while being dependable and oh so sexy. I loved him because his feeling were so...honest. He didn't hide from what many would consider a mistake he stood strong and handled business.

Great job Erin McCarthy you made me believe in love again!

Erin McCarthy is my favorite to-go happy read. I love the Nshville Night series and this book in particular. McCarthy has a way of writing that grounds me and makes me smile. In this book her hometwon girl, who so doesn't want to be in her hometown and the guy who lists after her, unbekownst to her, is a sweet tale of unrequited love that just might turn out to be something. I can't wait to tell me readers about this book. Thank you.
