I love the Entangled Publishing Brazen books! Cat jumps from guy to guy and even sleeps one night with her brother's best friend, Shane. Shane knows there's something more than sex between them but Cat denies it. Great read!

What’s it About? Basically Cat Thomas is allergic to commitment and always finds a reason to dump whatever guy she’s with before things get too real for her but then her brother’s best friend Shane comes home with the intention of staying and seeing if the spark that was between him and Cat years before can grow into something more meaningful and permanent. That’s when all sorts of delicious goodness and chaotic activities begin.

Describe the hero in five words: Protective. Funny. Sweet. Responsible. Lovable.
Did you like him? Yup.
Why? He’s protective without being controlling or overbearing and that was obvious to everyone except Cat. Shane had everything going for him except his taste in women which was lousy. Seriously, he would have been better off with a secondary character who I found a better, more mature match than Cat.

Describe the heroine in five words: Whiny. Immature. Blunt.
Did you like her? Not really.
Why? Could Cat be any more childish? She clearly needed a primer on the definitions and differences between protective and controlling because half the crap she accused Shane of being or doing was just stuff she pulled out of her rear. I just couldn’t see her point of view in her internal conflict. It wasn’t justified; it was silly and didn’t even begin to make up for how she treated Shane. I didn’t feel like Cat grew as a character, more like she finally had a “grown up” moment which I had a problem with because I want to read about two adult characters falling in love, not one adult and one woman-child. I tried to give Cat a fair shot but it was just one dumb thing after another and by the end I just couldn’t like her.

How convincing were the main characters as a couple? Shane and Cat didn’t lack for physical chemistry and yup those scenes were hot. However because of Cat’s immature attitude I found myself wishing Shane would have an “Aha” moment where he realized Cat wasn’t worth the trouble and move on to someone who could appreciate him for the good guy he was.

Is there a “Scooby Gang” worth mentioning? Most of the attention in Down and Dirty was focused on Shane and Cat but Cat’s brother Galen, and Cat’s best friend Laney pop up here and there and readers are introduced to Courtney and Rafe. Personally, I loved Courtney and thought she was better for Shane than Cat was but apparently she’s got her own story with someone else. Boo.

How “Lost” did you get in the story? Christine Bell can write a good, hot and heavy romance because the first book in this series, Galen’s story was great, I loved it and Down and Dirty is a fun, sexy read but again, Cat got to me and that spoiled my overall enjoyment of the romance. Her attitude kept jerking me out of the story and that was no good.

Click It or Skip It? If you don’t like heroines like Cat then skip it but if you can tolerate her then by all means click it. I would personally advise you to pick up the first book in the series for a better idea of this author’s talent.

Cat Thomas has always been a dare devil of sorts, never been one to back down from a challenge... except when it comes to forever. The mere idea of settling down, becoming a happy housewife and mother gives her hives, so anytime any of her relationships show the promise of leading to a commitment she runs. She watched her mother give up her own happiness and lose a part of herself to settle for the traditional happy ever after, and she vowed that she would never lose her own identity to become someones wife or mother. So, when Shane Decker comes back to town ready to sweep her off her feet and make her part of his happily ever after, the hives settle in, and she has an intense urge to run in the opposite direction... but for some damn reason life has other plans for them!

Shane Decker has loved Cat Thomas for years, and has always wanted to make his feelings for her known, but she is always busy running in the other direction. Cat isn't to keen on marriage, or settling down, and Shane is certain that it is because she just hasn't had the right man come along. In his heart he knows if she'd give them half a chance, her feelings on love might change, but it's the convincing part that has him uncertain. But he is a determined man, and he wants a future with Cat, so he is going to be daring and go all out... and hope it pays off!

This was my first time reading something from this author, and I have to say that her writing totally took me by surprise, and instantly made me regret not reading something by her before now... she completely won me over with this beautifully written story, and I look forward to reading more of her books in the VERY near future!! I always love a good friends to lovers story, and I have to say this one definitely scored a lot of points with me, it had it all, scorching sexy times that left me in need of a fan, tender moments that gave me the feels, and some feisty fueled banter that had me smiling and laughing out loud. I highly recommend this one it's one of those reads that is destined to consume you and have you feeling the words from start to finish!

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this title
