Then Came You: A Bradford Sister’s Novella and True to You: A Bradford Sister’s Romance – Becky Wade

I have read everything Becky Wade has written. I love her style. She has a knack for drawing my attention within the first several sentences. (I am pretty ADD so that is saying something!)
Then Came You: A Bradford Sister’s Novella sets the stage for the Bradford Sister’s Romance series. It is free for Kindle on Amazon right now. Garner Bradford is impulsive, and steps away from how he has been raised. He has 2 daughters that really need his care. He has a huge company to run. Kathleen Burke is a career woman who is looking forward to being hired by her dream company. This is their story.
True to You: A Bradford Sister’s Romance is book 1 in the series. It is so good! Nora Bradford loves her job and is content with her life. John Lawson has just received a diagnosis, and sense he is adopted, he hires Nora do help him research and find his birth family. There are several plot twists in this story. I am hoping that one of the twists will play out in the next book. They are successful in finding his birth family. However, their pasts intersected in not so great ways.
These are BOTH great books! I would give them 4 starts. Buy them (Of course you don’t have to buy the novella since it is FREE!)

I received True to You: A Bradford Sister’s Romance in exchange for an honest review.

I was looking forward to a enjoyable read but was disappointed by the lack of originality in the book, from the first chapter I knew the book wouldn't vary much from the usual Christian fluffy romance formula. From the first chapter you knew what was going to happen, girl meets guy and they fall in love, why write a whole book if the first chapter is so obvious as to what is going to happen?

I love a hero who is the strong, silent type! However, make him vulnerable and that's the ultimate for me! I don't know how Becky Wade keeps crafting such unbelievable families and characters but once again, she's outdone herself! I couldn't imagine that she could create another family as good as her last series, the Porters, but the Bradford girls are going to be just as good, I can tell already. And, the men who love them as also going to be amazing if this first book is any indication! In "True To You", our hero is John and he's the perfect Navy SEAL - strong, silent, gentlemanly, etc. but life has thrown him a big, huge curve and suddenly he's very vulnerable! That's what makes him the perfect hero for me AND the best guy for Nora Bradford, although on paper, you probably wouldn't put the two of them together! Nora is "bookish" and retro and loves all things historical. She's into genealogy and the history of their town, even dressing NOT in the latest fashion! She has been burned badly in relationships and feels things deeply, but still, is such a giver! I loved her and her personality! John needs her for her skills to do something for him and they embark on a journey that neither one of them can imagine the outcome. There are so many twists and turns to their story that you have to just keep expecting the unexpected! I also loved Nora's family and can't wait to delve into their stories more as we get new books! Her sisters are going to be fun as we learning more about them.
**I would highly recommend this book. It's fun, yet soul-searching and is a great way to begin a new series. There are so many things to take away from this book! It's excellent!

I love this book!! I love the story and I love the fact that the main character is a genealogist and a historian. This book was one after my own heart. As a historian and genealogist, I was so excited to read this book and see how well Becky Wade portrayed the character. Spot on by the way. Also I loved the prequel that came out right before this book. I couldn't put this book down and finished it in one day!!! Thanks netgalley and Bethany house for the advanced copy.

Nora Bradford is the middle sister in an unusual family; as a librarian and genealogist, she doesn't live what she would consider an exciting life. And she's generally okay with that. She's still recovering from being dumped by her fiancee three years ago, and is content, if not happy, with her job, her family, and her comfortable book-filled house. John Lawson is a retired Navy SEAL, who has decided to search for his birth mother after a recent diagnosis leaves him wondering about his medical history. Upon a chance encounter with Nora, he decides to use her genealogy and research skills to aid his search.

Oh my. I have enjoyed many of Becky Wade's books, and have always found her romances light and enjoyable, and her fictional men swoon-worthy. But this book. Oh my. Not only does she hold on to her strong male character, but this time she adds depth and more faith, and a smart, non-traditional, fun female genealogist/librarian character. Nora is so fun to read; her quirks - she always clicks her key fob twice - are only mentioned enough to be endearing, not so much as to make her seem obsessive-compulsive, or become annoying. I love her penchant for big words, and I love that John finds that penchant amusing. Nora is a fiction-lover's favorite kind of character, with her love of reading, and fiction blogs, and her Goodreads account. She's also easy to relate to, as she compares herself to her supermodel older sister and her adventurous, creative, younger sister. But she really shines in her wheelhouse of genealogy and research, and it's this confidence that allows her to develop her friendship with John.

However, in addition to such amusing, intriguing characters, this book encompasses some deeper topics, and the author weaves them seamlessly into the bigger story. Without spoiling the storyline, be aware that there are some headline-type subjects that may not be appropriate for every reader. These topics are not overly discussed, nor are they glossed over; they are essential to the plot and faith journeys of the characters, and they can leave the reader pondering how she would handle these situations in her own life.

I give this book 5 stars; it was the perfect combination of a cute romance, but with the depth of faith to make it even better. I cannot wait for the rest of this series - the two sisters have already been introduced well, and I am excited to read their stories!

You can find True to You HERE.
The prequel, Then Came You, is about the sisters' father, and was free at the time of this review; Amazon prices are subject to change, and you should always check the price before purchasing: HERE. I really enjoyed reading the prequel *after* Book #1!

True to you is book one in the Bradford Sisters. They are are close knit group of sisters who lovingly always get in each other's business. Willow is the oldest and the pretty one, Nora is the middle and the smart one and Brit is the youngest and considered the creative one. This book focuses on Nora, the smart one. This book had a good balance of humor and things that are considered serious matters. Nora was the librarian and ran a museum. I felt like I could identify with her. She like books as I do and she even managed to update her Goodreads progress daily like I try to do. She is immediately attracted to John. But one of the problems is that John has a very sweet girlfriend.Since she knows a little about genealogy she helps John in the search for his birth mother. He has reasons to search for the mother but does not reveal to her quite yet. The more time they spent together the closer they got.

I loved all the characters in the book and am looking forward to reading the other two sister's stories. This book is due to be released on May 2, 2017. Thanks to Netgalley and Bethany House for providing me a digital copy of the book to read and review.

True to You, Becky Wade's latest novel and introduction to her Bradford sisters series is an interesting look at how God is working at the big picture even though we don't understand it. With a meek, bookish Nora Bradford, Wade created a picture o the middle child who shows the ability to be ignored. While John, on the other hand, is a strong ex-Navy Seal who believes in God, wanting to discover the identity of his parents. As walls crumble, Nora and John seek out the Lord and ask for the ultimate forgiveness. My favorite part of the entire novel is the sections where Nora and John surrender to God. It brought a little mist to my eyes. I enjoyed the novel but had a hard time believing a number of passionate internal thoughts from John. It sounded like a girl's thought not a man. Fans of Wade's previous novels should try this story.

I received a complimentary copy of True to You by Becky Wade from Bethany House Publishers, and the opinions stated are all my own.

True To You was part light and whimsical romance and partly a story of serious adversity and hard-hitting secrets that force the characters to be honest with themselves and God as they search for answers and love.

Nora Bradford is a historian. A researcher. Someone who enjoys all things past. But her own past, particularly her romantic past, has left her slightly jaded, more than happy to remain safely single, and determined to rely on no one but herself for success. John Lawson knows what it's like to test himself and push himself to the very limits. Being a Navy SEAL ensured that. But a medical diagnosis has rocked him and driven him to uncover his own past and the story of his adoption. Nora and John are brought together by the past and enticed by a chance for the future.

True To You was light and whimsical and fluffy. A delicious book to enjoy. It felt the littlest bit silly and wholly charming. And then, with a quarter of the book to go, a huge bombshell is landed. Wow!! I did not see that coming. Nor did the characters. But that's exactly when this book digs its heels in and becomes so much more than a fluffy romance - nothing wrong with those, of course - but with that twist this book looks deeper at God and accepting God's plans for one's life even when there seems to be only hurt and pain ahead.

I really enjoyed True To You. I loved the way everything, from the romance to the family banter and secrets, is all handled. I was intrigued with the way the romance was developed and the choices the characters made. John is in a relationship when he meets Nora. Nora has been spurned by her fiancé for another woman so both she and John know that their relationship is purely professional and that of friends. And that's the way they keep it. But neither can deny their chemistry or the brilliant joy that comes from spending time together - it just seeps from the pages. Both are human. Both are Christian. Both want desperately to do the right thing by all involved. That doesn't prevent them from wanting, and I liked how that part of their relationship was not ignored. The characters are realistic and flawed, right down to their mistakes, selfishness, and judgements.

For readers who have already read the prequel novella, Then Came You, they will know a little about Nora's history and the story she shares with John as he shares with her his story of sacrifice while in the navy and his search for his birth family.

True To You perfectly sets the scene for the next books in the Bradford Sisters Romance series. Both stories are poised and ready to go but I secretly hope that Britt's story will be first. I think her best friend has suffered in silence long enough. But then there is a certain NFL player who aggravates a certain other Bradford sister, so either way will be fine with me.

One again, Becky Wade has crafted a story that is delicious to read, handles tough themes with grace and poise, and weaves God's love and truth together with scintillating romance. I can't wait to follow the Bradford Sister through the remainder of this series.

Delightful characterization, a whimsical setting, and Nora's quest to help John find his biological mother (and hopefully win his heart) all make True to You a wonderful start to this talented author's new series, The Bradford Sisters Romance. Becky Wade consistently writes satisfying romance with nuanced characters that wrestle with deeper truths. In this story, John and Nora must both grapple with the truths that are revealed about their pasts as well as the uncertainty of the future.
True to You is the kind of fantastic inspirational romance fans of this genre can count on from Becky Wade. I'm excited to read more of this series in the future.
Many thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for a complimentary advance copy. All opinions stated here are my own.

True to You is a great addition to Becky Wade's lineup of contemporary romances. Although I felt the beginning was a tad slow and lacking tension, once the plot took a shocking turn it kept me fully engaged and flipping pages. I enjoyed the character development and am looking forward to the next two books in this series.
