She's done it again! This book was so good. So complex and so surprising. I love how I can read the whole book and not have any idea who committed the crime! And I love how well she weaves all the current characters with her old characters and introduces new ones all at the same time without overwhelming me. It was such a joy to have Ann around again. She will always be one of my favorites though I must admit Evie is becoming a favorite now too!
This new series is just a little bit different since it focuses on cold missing person cases. But it is such a great follow up to Taken that it is a seamless transition. I really love the procedural side to this book. It is so amazing to watch Evie and David re-tackle a cold case using the initial findings, their own theories, and even new evidence. I really liked how they each had different methods for their work but still both found the answers they were looking for. I love that they were able to provide closure to families.
This book has a little bit of a Criminal Minds aspect to it as they searched for who was responsible for their missing people. I also felt once again like I was in the middle of a Cold Case episode too. If you like either of those shows you'll like how this book is laid out.
My only complaint about this book isn't really a complaint just a personal thought. I missed Gabriel Thane from the first book and wasn't crazy for Rob. I know I should probably give him a chance but he just doesn't impress me.
If you want a book that will keep the pages turning as you desperately try to figure out whodunnit (times two!) then you'll love this book.
I received an advanced copy from Bethany House. All opinions are my own. I might add that after reading this I immediately re-read Full Disclosure, Unspoken, Taken, and Traces of Guilt because I needed more Dee Henderson. I cannot wait for her next book!
Have always enjoyed Dee Henderson books . This book doesn't disappoint. I found it a little difficult to keep up with the different characters at first but soon had everyone sorted out. Keep up the good work!
I have been a long time Dee Henderson fan. I read every one of the books in the O’Malley series and enjoyed them all. I was excited to read Threads of Suspicion, Dee Henderson’s second book in the Evie Blackwell Cold Case series. Evie is part of a newly formed Missing Persons Task Force, put together by the governor of the state of Illinois. She and her team are investigating unrelated cold cases county by county. It was hard to get into this book. At times, it felt like reading description after description and it took a while to get into the plot itself. Still, I think it was an enjoyable read and I would like to see further books in the series. I received a digital copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for my honest review.
Evie is on a big case again, her and her team are working on closing a group of cold case. When she gets a lead it seems to be more tired into another case will her and David be able to get to the bottom of the cases before its to late?
I super enjoyed this book I could not put it down. There seem to be twist and turns throughout and when you least expected it Dee throw another curveball into the mix. Just like Dee's other book it keeps you guessing all the way to the end. The book does keep you also guessing on what comes next and I am so wanting more about David and Maggie and Evie and Rob. I know there is more to come but I so want to read the rest of the story today. Grab there first book if you haven't read it and then grab this one both are well worth the read.
Evie Blackwell is now appointed to the Governor's cold case task force, and this time she is partnered with David Marshal. It is refreshing to have a male and female partnership without the pair becoming romantically involved. Both David and Evie have their own love interests and they are secure enough to work together and remain faithful. I love reading how they go about investigating these cold cases, how the smallest details can turn the case around. I look forward to reading more Evie Blackwell cases in the future, Dee Henderson has again created an enduring and sustainable character.

Dee Henderson Pens Another Compelling Cold Case Mystery
Evie Blackwell's reputation as a top investigator for the Illinois State Police has landed her an appointment to the governor's new Missing Persons Task Force. This elite investigative team is launched with plenty of public fanfare. The governor has made this initiative a high priority, so they will have to produce results--and quickly.
Evie and her new partner, David Marshal, are assigned to a pair of unrelated cases in suburban Chicago, and while both involve persons now missing for several years, the cases couldn't be more different. While Evie opens old wounds in a close-knit neighborhood to find a missing college student, David searches for a private investigator working for a high-powered client.
With a deep conviction that "justice for all" truly matters, Evie and David are unrelenting in their search for the truth. But Evie must also find answers to the questions that lie just beneath the surface in her personal life.

Evie Blackwell has been appointed to Illinois states new Missing Person Task Force, she is partnered with David Marshall.
Sharon Noble has been working on Missing Person's cases for the past eight years and will be spending the next two with The Illinois Missing Person's Task Force.
Evie prefers talking to people to get a case started off and to check out the victim's personal effects.
Jenna Greenhill was last seen on October.17,2007, she was a Junior at Brighton College where she was a Biology Major and a Chemistry Minor. She lived in an Apartment Complex that was deemed as safe.
David Marshall is engaged to his longtime girlfriend Maggie, he gave his heart to Jesus, after an accident.
David is assigned to cases that don't seem to have a connection until they learn that they do.
Will Evie and David be able to find the truth? In doing so will they learn deeper truths about themselves?
I give Threads of Suspicion five out of five stars.
Happy Reading.
I enjoyed this book. Great story line and characters. well crafted mystery. I always look forward to her new releases
This book was a fun read in that the book is filled with return appearances from other characters. This is a mystery with overlapping cold cases, that come together in a myriad of twists and turns. There are a couple developing romances, but neither comes to a full resolution. And both frankly seem impossible, but man do I want them to find happily ever afters together. I will definitely watch for the next installment in this intriguing series.
I found this story complicated and distracting in a good way. I had to concentrate to follow the story line, but wanted to keep reading to find out how each of the characters walked forward. It was encouraging to see how each person dealt with their faith in Jesus or search for Jesus in real life situations.
Another winner!! I love a good mystery. And Dee Henderson sure knows how to write them.
This one was very much, a procedural style novel more than some of her more intense action mysteries. But still a very good book.
I was given this ARC by Net Galley to read in exchange for my review in my own words. I have done that here.
As a fan of Dee Henderson over the past twenty-plus years, I will always pick up and read her books. Her attention to detail in each of her stories is what makes them enjoyable.
However, sometimes, there’s such a thing as too much detail. And in Threads of Suspicion, you are sitting with Evie Blackwell as she postulates and theorizes her cold case. It is fascinating how this character’s mind works, but every detail of this case was put into this story, including the out-there theories that don’t pan out.
Definitely more mystery than the romantic suspense (or even suspense) of her popular O’Malley series, this book gets technical. And because Evie already has a guy, the gushy, swoony, falling in love element is completely left out of this story.
But, there were some fascinating threads this book went down. The angle of the famous singer and her fans was a nice twist as well as the WITSEC program and the possibility of a death attorney.
Overall, an enjoyable read that had me bogged down in the details a little too often for my tastes. But, that won’t stop me from picking up the next Evie Blackwell installment, either.

Unlike the O’Malley series, the Evie Blackwell Cold Case series is more mystery than suspense. The danger has largely happened in the past yet there is still some urgency in trying to solve the cold cases Evie and David are working on. If you’re a fan of spine-tingling danger with lots of action, this may not be the book for you.
However, this book is still a great read. It is fascinating to see how Evie and David approach their individual cold cases. They learn from each other and find that there is more than one way to discover the truth. The detail and effort their team puts into solving their cases is phenomenal. I wondered how realistic that is. How many cases are pursued that thoroughly? It was inspiring and I’m even more grateful for the people who spend their time trying to bring closure to families who have been hurting for so long.
It was interesting to me that a lot of their research covered what happened after the crime….studying how people acted after a disappearance. I thought most of the process would deal with before the crime. The story and the research really gripped me.
David and Evie are both in relationships with different people. They both have issues that need to be resolved before things can progress. I was hoping to find out some of the answers to their questions but that will make me all the more eager for the next book. The book is 432 pages long but ended before I was ready to leave.
Thank you to Bethany House for providing me with a free e-copy of this book. All opinions are my own.
Evie Blackwell and the new team to solve cold cases are going from county to county to take on different unsolved cases. They add a new perspective on the cases and help put to rest what has happened to those who have disappeared. Evie and David, another investigator, have chosen two cases in the same area. One a missing college student and one a missing private investigator. Soon Evie finds evidence that something may have happened to the college student the night of a Triple M concert which happens to be David's fiance's band. David's case gets solved fairly quickly and then he and Evie are able to concentrate all of their efforts on keeping Maggie, David's fiance, safe and finding out what the connection between her band and the missing girl have in common.
Threads of Suspicion takes the reader on a step by step process of solving Evie and David's cold cases. At times I found this interesting and at other times I found it rather boring. The story seemed to plod along at a slow pace, but yet I still wanted to finish it to find out what happened. I think I enjoyed the different relationships better than I enjoyed the mystery of what happened in their cold cases. I did get a bit frustrated at Evie for still holding back on the man she is in love with. By the end of the book we are still left in the dark as to what she intends to answer the man who loves her(and honestly, I like the guy, but I thought she had more of a connection with Gabriel Thane from book one). David's relationship with Maggie isn't much better in that Maggie isn't a believer and David is. Again, we are left in the dark as to what happens in that relationship as well. So I'm assuming there will be another cold case to solve and that Evie and David and the rest of the team will be handy to solve them and hopefully we will get closure on their relationships. All in all it was a good read, and I am invested enough in the characters that I want to see what happens next. But, *whispering now* this still doesn't live up to this author's O'Malley series...shhhhhh, I didn't say that out loud!

I'm a huge fan of Dee Henderson, so I was excited about her new cold case series. Threads of Suspicion got off to a slow start...almost too slow for me. When the action kicked in a third of the way into the book, I was finally hooked. Love Evie and her team of investigators, but still not crazy about Ann (from Full Disclosure). I'll definitely read the next in the series, hoping it gets going within the first few chapters.
Threads of Suspicion by Dee Henderson is a captivating look into the world of detectives. From the first page, I was thrown into the action with Evie and David as they were assigned to two different cold cases in the same county. It was nice to return to Evie and watch as she struggles with the decision to marry her boyfriend, Rob. The romance was not too heavy. Instead, it appeared to be too perfect. Maybe even a little unrealistic. Rob, Maggie, and David were perfect for one another and acted just the way a couple should be. I don't think any guy would just sit around and wait forever for a girl to come to know Christ, so he could marry her. After a while, he would lose patience and move on. Luckily, for Henderson that is not the complete idea of the story, it is just the subplot, rounding out the characters, so I can ignore the romance.
As for the pace of the novel, it appeared to go on and on and on. Every thought David or Evie had about the cold cases were spoken about at dinner, driving to interview someone, or in their makeshift office. There was no moments for pondering the case for myself. Henderson told me what to think and how to think about the missing Jennie. Don't get me wrong. I enjoyed the story, and I loved seeing how detectives work and how much thought goes into the process. But I think it could have been paired back some to include more about Evie. Honestly, I don't know much about her except she is in a relationship with Rob and doesn't know if she wants to marry him and loves God. Overall, the novel is a great insider look at the workings of a case. Fans of CSI and Castle would enjoy this novel. If you enjoyed her first book in this series, Traces of Guilt, you might enjoy this book too.
I received a complimentary copy of Threads of Suspicion by Dee Henderson from Bethany House Publishers, and the opinions stated are all my own.
Threads of Suspicion is an excellent suspense novel. Procedural, comprehensive and delightful, it was a pleasure to sink within its pages and join the investigators as they search for answers.
Evie Blackwell has officially joined the Missing Persons Task Force. Their first case load takes them to Briar County, Illinois, where Evie begins investigating the disappearance of a college student. Meanwhile, Evie's new partner, David Marshall is investigating a missing PI. When their cases unexpectedly connect and then take a very personal turn, Evie and David will have their work cut out for them if they are to close both cases.
This is the second book in the Evie Blackwell Cold Case series. In the first book we met Evie Blackwell as she began a trial investigation for the newly created Missing Persons Task Force. Now that task force has official begun work and Evie, along with her new colleagues, are travelling to a new county within Illinois to investigate a series of cold cases. Despite this being the second book in the series, readers could easily begin their adventure with Evie with this book or read the books in any order, as they each feature a separate set of crimes and investigations. That said, it was lovely to rejoin Evie, reunite with a range of familiar faces from Dee Henderson's previously published books, and meet some new characters. David, Evie's new cold case partner is a particularly lovely new character, as is his girlfriend. I'm looking forward to getting to know them both a little better in future Evie Blackwell novels.
There is just something so consuming about Dee Henderson's writing. I know that when I am about to start reading a new Dee Henderson book that I should clear my calendar and prepare to hunker down and hide within its pages. Dee Henderson's books deserve to be savoured. Fortunately, thanks to holidays and a large weather event, clearing my calendar was exactly what I was able to do and I devoured this novel. I love the intricate way everything is pieced together. I love the steady pacing and focus on internal musing, and the hit of tension at the end as the case very quickly comes together. I love the twists in the case that I never saw coming. It feels like a real criminal investigation, where Evie and David follow the discovery of information and are hindered by the time in takes to pursue and crunch that information.
I also particularly love the characters. While sometimes the main characters feel incredibly perfect - flawed but flawed in a perfect way - they are nonetheless wonderful characters with whom to spend time. As mentioned before, there are plenty of familiar faces. Ann and Paul Falcon make a number of appearances, as do Bryce and Charlotte Bishop. Even a certain arson investigator named Cole gets a mention. Unfortunately, the character I most wanted to see, Gabriel Thane, did not make an appearance. While nothing romantic ever developed between Evie and Gabe in book one of this series, I was hoping it would in this second book. However, Evie is happily dating Rob Turney. While she is questioning her future with Rob, there was no mention of her reconnecting with Gabe. Sigh. It's not that I don't like Rob, he's an all-round great guy, I just preferred Gabe. But then, there is always the next book... Here's hoping.
I am eagerly awaiting the next book in this series, as Evie, David and the rest of the Missing Persons Task Force travel to a new county and begin a new set of cold case investigations. It is sure to be just as exciting and wonderful as this book.

In this continuation of the Evie Blackwell Cold Case series, Dee Henderson once again captures the mind and imagination of the reader. Now, Evie Blackwell has begun her work for the Cold Case Task Force. She undertakes the case of a young girl who has gone missing, while one of her task force partners looks into the disappearance of a P.I. Through a series of twists and turns, you meet characters who are oddly endearing and familiar faces that greet you like an old friend.
I was filled with suspense as the story got rolling and I found it extremely difficult to walk away. Finishing the story left the feeling of resolution for the cases that Evie was involved in, but I'm ready for the next book in the series to continue the personal stories of the characters as questions still linger.
This is another book I cannot wait to add to my collection of Dee Henderson books.
I received a copy of this book from NetGalley and Bethany House. This review is my own honest opinion.
There are indeed a lot of threads of suspicion in this novel, perhaps too many. I guess the procedure of comparing infinite lists of names got from various sources resembles real police work, but it doesn't make for a compelling read or suspense.
It's a big puzzle, but more interesting than the cold cases was the interaction between David and Evie, their prayer life and their thoughts about marriage.
If you want a fast-paced thriler this book is not for you.
Dee Henderson is a prolific writer with a strong resume to back up why you should probably give any book she puts out a chance because her record of hits over misses speaks for itself. Admittedly I’m a bit biased because I’ve been a longtime fan of hers for that very reason. It an uncertain world it’s nice to have a little bit of certainty and picking up one of her books generally qualifies.
This particular novel is the second in her series starring main character Evie Blackwell who returns to explore what mysteries the Chicago area has to offer. Her plot is well written, thornily verbose but appealing in a way that is classic Henderson. Her pace remains steady so there isn’t a lot of ‘rollercoasterish’ moments where your pulse will race but she makes up for that by providing an intriguing story with plenty of clues to sort through on the way to hopefully clear out some cold cases.
It’s the perfect kind of series for people who like to pull things apart and watch as you search for that “Ah ha!” moment. As the characters move their way through this thorny task they will either find long needed but denied closure or more danger than they could expect.
You must read the story to find out how this journey will conclude but at least you’ll feel like it was time worth spent divulging in one of Henderson’s novels.
