I loved and I mean I LOVED Zanetti’s Sin Brothers series. So when I saw there’s a spin off series with the Blood Brothers, I was sold. I was immediately hooked on the story with Deadly Silence. I was intrigued by the three men that forged a bond that was beyond blood and genetics. They have a brotherhood that’s all theirs. On the run from Sheriff Cobb and his seeking revenge for the death of his cruel brother that made their life at the boy’s home a living hell, they refuse to form any bonds…especially a woman. With the doctor that’s responsible for their genetic makeup determined to bring them to heel, they have all the more reason to avoid any entanglements…until Ryker falls in love.
Heath is envious of his brother but knows that will never be him. He’s a protector but he refuses to let go of his heart and give in to his baser urges when it comes to women. When their investigation agency brings them in the center of the investigation of a deranged serial killer, Heath finds himself the protector of Anya. Anya is determined to bring the man that murdered her FBI sister to justice, with or without Heath’s help. Anya tempts Heath like no other woman ever have, but can he outrun his past without it bringing Anya down and protector from the serial killer that’s obsessed with her without losing his heart along the way?
I wanted to love this book. I wanted to so bad…but it lost me more and more with every chapter. Heath’s mommy issues managed to overshadow any semblance of romance that developed between him and Anya.
Her soft lips had nearly pushed him over the edge, but he’d been able to keep his mind. Yet the moment hurt had flared in her soft green eyes, he’d been lost.
He’s so hell bent on protecting her like she’s this delicate flower, he completely misses the strong woman in front of him. It drove me out of my ever loving mind. I thought it would get better as the story progressed, but it never did. Everything came back to this issue and it overshadowed everything. I never truly felt a connection with this couple beyond Heath’s fierce need to protect her. I wanted to feel their chemistry, and while it was there, it was lackluster at best. He treats her like cracked crystal and no matter how often she showed him that she’s strong and knows what she wants, he refused to see it. This dynamic lasted too long for my taste and it totally killed the enjoyment of this book for me. Everything read very…dry. I liked the mystery and I loved the action at the end, but unfortunately it still wasn’t enough to save the book for me. While I enjoyed the suspense, I never clicked with the romance. I didn’t dislike it, I just didn’t love it either. It was those middle of the road books that I don’t regret reading but would easily forget once I finished.
I don’t recommend reading this as a standalone because I feel a lot of context would be missed. I also would recommend reading it if you’re a fan of the series because it does have a pivotal event to the overall story arc.
This is book 2 in the Blood Brothers series and it features Keith Jones and Anya Best. This very large, very alpha man is about as lost as they come. He needs her but doesn't yet realize it.
This book is CRAZY good! Awesome story line with fabulous characters. This story played like a movie in my head. Tons of action from beginning to end. This book grabbed a hold of me and wouldn't let go till the last page.
Another fast paced action packed winner from Ms. Zanetti. Confession time, I no longer read the blurbs of the books written by Ms. Zanetti. This is because I know whatever she writes, I want to read it. She's that good of a writer. She is an automatic read and buy author. In this latest one, I really enjoyed the follow up book two in the Blood Brothers series. Whilst this book can be read as a standalone, it is better when read in order.
Anya Best is a woman on a mission. Her sister is dead and it is all her fault. Technically, it is not as Anya didn't kill her, but Anya's the inspiration for the serial killer. Anya's guilt over her sister's brutal torture and slaying convinces her to join forces with Heath. Heath should not be mixed in this serial murder case because of the ties to his past. He can't resist Anya and she is his weakness to bring the past at the heels of his feet.
The plot in this story keeps my attention riveted. I liked both Anya's determination and Heath's self sacrificing ways. Anya's character is easy to empathize with whilst Heath's character wants to make me cuddle him. Yes, Heath is a bad ass but what happened to him as a child hurts to read about. His drive to end the threat to him and his brothers is understandable. Anya and Heath's chemistry is good as they match each other quite well. I'm more interested in the serial killer plot than the romantic element in this story. I still think Ms. Zanetti's stories will be just as good without the romantic elements. I see her more has a suspense and paranormal writer than romantic. Perhaps she will move into the Urban Fantasy genre which does not need romance in it at all.
This book is a pleasure to read from beginning to end. Recommended to romance readers who enjoy the thrill of suspense.
What a great read. Rebecca created a hero with a heart of gold and mind for revenge. Heath will leave your heart pattering on both counts. Anya is Heath’s love interest. And interested he is. He can’t seem to say no and can’t seem to keep her out of trouble. And if you know any of Rebecca’s heros you know that is just a recipe for love. We have one more brother before we see an end to this series. I am not looking forward to saying goodbye to our Blood Brothers. But then again I can’t wait to read about our elusive Denver.
Rebecca Zanetti creates memorable characters and builds exciting worlds driven by her larger than life characters. She started this crazy plotline with Sin Brothers, and this spin-off series, Blood Brothers, continues the intriguing tale. This is the second one, and it's Heath's story.
How do you live with the knowledge that a serial killer is slaughtering women because of you. At least that's how Anya Best feels when she realizes the connection between the strangely terrifying letters she's been receiving with startling photos of red headed women and the Copper Killer on the news.
Enlisting the aid of her half sister, FBI Special Agent Loretta Jackson, Anya uses her training as a psychologist to profile the killer. When her sister goes missing in the middle of the investigation, Anya blames herself even more. If she hadn't asked for a Loretta's help, she wouldn't be in danger.
Heath Jones and his brothers own Lost Bastards Investigations. While trying to outrun their past, they're also investigating the Copper Killer, and Heath had personally worked with Anya's sister. He is not only willing to help Anya search for clues to find her sister-he's willing to take a personal role. His motives might be more than altruistic.
I enjoyed this continuation of the series and lived meeting these two characters. Part of my enjoyment was also anticipation of more to come, so hurry up Ms Zanetti!

Kimberly’s Thoughts:
Heath and his blood brothers are still on the run and fighting their past. However, when he meets Anya, the danger of entanglements might be too hard for him to fight.
Anya decides that fighting back against the serial killer playing with her is better than watching others die around her. When she announces on live tv that her and Heath are engaged, she knows the danger she is putting herself in, but she never could have imagined the greatest danger was to her heart.
There was no mercy when monsters harmed women.
Book two in the Blood Brothers series reunites us with the Lost Boys. This time it is Heath who is the hero and with a mother who was killed by an abusive boyfriend, he has a big time trigger for men who hurt women. When he sees Anya with bruises, no matter of the innocent reasoning, and finds out that the Copper Killer serial killer is after her, he instantly goes into protector mode. This past hurt and resulting trigger for Heath, while emotional, was a bit overplayed and repetitive. The numerous times he saw red or freaked out made him seem less strong protector and more auto-pilot brainless alpha. The story didn't flush out his personality enough for me, he seemed like he only had two depths, alpha protector and hot for Anya. I did enjoy the scenes where Heath and the brothers interacted but I missed other personality nuances.
She studied him, her eyes darkening. Finally, one corner of her mouth quirked. "You're a beneath the surface kind of guy, aren't you?"
I kind of had the same problem with Anya, she had the hots for Heath (while kind of sorta but not being afraid of him) and wanted to be in charge of capturing the Copper Killer. At times she seemed brave and others she seemed needlessly talking big game while blindingly doing nothing. I also thought the emotion of losing her sister and fighting her attraction to Heath felt off, would she be fighting sexual thoughts the night of her sister's funeral? I think, ultimately, the uneven feelings I had with the lead characters came from the meandering feel from the story.
The beginning of the story gets going right away, with the back story and a continuing story thread I wouldn't recommend this as a standalone, but it also felt a bit choppy. It eventually smooths out as we are re-introduced to the handful of cast of characters that include Heath's brothers and the villains. Dr. Madison, who created the brothers (also the tie-in to the author's previous series Sin Brothers), Sheriff Cobb who works for Dr. Madison but also has a personal vendetta against the brothers, and Daniel, a soldier still working for Dr. Madison. The Dr. Madison and super soldier secret military program is intriguing, interesting and what I found captured my attention the most. As it is the continuing story thread, there is no resolution here but you can feel things building up in a crescendo.
Mostly, I found this book to be a slow moving, repetitive layover in the series. Heath and Anya have a bit of insta-love, the must protect Anya but Anya demanding to be in charge, bickering with FBI, and forced serial killer tie-in went in circles for too long. The next book is about the last Blood Brother, Denver. I'm hoping for more of the action, chemistry, and movement in the interesting super soldier program that appeared in the first.
"I like you, too," she said. Yeah, she'd just opened herself up. Perhaps she was crazy. His upper lip quirked. "You're dangerous lady."
In this next Blood Brothers book, we meet Anya Best, who’s out for revenge against her sister’s killer. She decides to use herself as bait to catch the killer, but unfortunately she entangles Heath Jones in her plot. Heath is a PI already investigating the killer so he’s game, plus he’s majorly drawn to Anya, but the ploy puts Heath and his brothers at risk. Can they stop the killer and get justice for Anya’s sister before the other people after the Jones brothers catch up?
I love Zanetti’s Sin Brothers series (loooooove it), and I was pretty into the first Blood Brothers book, but I felt like Lethal Lies was a bit less exciting for me. I enjoyed it and had a good time while reading it, but it didn’t really stick with me.
Anya in particular got on my nerves. She concocts a half-assed plan to catch her sister’s killer, but she never thinks through the ramifications, and doesn’t really have any serious plan for how she will stop this horrific killer that even her FBI-trained sister couldn’t handle. She doesn’t know anything about self-defense or catching a criminal. I just...couldn’t get behind her. Even worse, she barely knows Heath but involves him in her dangerous public plot. I get that she didn’t fully understand the risk she put Heath and his brothers in. She didn’t know their history and couldn’t know how her throwaway comment naming him in the press could literally kill him and his brothers. Fair enough! But she never really deals with that fact, even once she does know the truth. It felt glossed over but never explored. Her selfish need for “justice” could have killed them all! I definitely wanted some remorse or at least clear understanding from her, but we never got that, and Heath never holds her accountable either. I didn’t like it.
I did like Heath and Anya together, though. Heath is so damaged, so unhappy. All the Jones Brothers (and all the Gray Brothers, for that matter), feel such love and responsibility for their family that it just melts your heart. Even though Heath thinks he’s a lone wolf, Anya shows him what it means to truly be alone, and I liked his own newfound appreciation for his family after he is reminded of all the support he does have. He is also a great support for Anya, and he backs her up no matter what. Their relationship was super steamy, too, and the sexual tension was great.
I loved seeing the Gray Brothers a bit, though I admittedly didn’t understand why they didn’t jump in all the way when the Jones Brothers were clearly in a pickle. Still, I always enjoy being in this world, and I look forward to more installments from Zanetti.
Grade: 3.5 out of 5
Lethal Lies is Book Two in the Blood Brother's series and is Heath's book. Even though each book is one brother's story, they must all be read in order as their whole story overall throughout all the books. And you just get a better understanding of their backgrounds in each book.
Heath is one of three brothers that were genetically enhanced by a crazy mad scientists when they were younger and then placed in a group home where they were studied and tormented. During that time, these three became very close and vowed to always protect one another. They have since then escaped and created an agency that helps those less fortunate. All the while, they are trying to find answers about their past and stay hidden from the those who created them.
I really do not want to go into too much detail about this story and how it all plays out. Heath finds himself helping Anya, a professor of criminal psychology, when she becomes the target of the Copper Killer. When Anya's sister is taken by the crazed killer, she places herself as bait and also puts Heath in the lime light. So yea - that causes a lot of problems all around.
Now that Anya has thrown this huge target on their heads, shit gets crazy. Not only do they have to deal with the Copper Killer, they also have to deal with the two nutjobs from the brother's past hunting them down. It's all woven together perfectly and gives us this crazy rush of a ride. And yes, all in between that, there is some hot ass romance firing up between Anya and Heath. I love how these don't deny it and act on it at the right time.
And that is all you are getting from me. I read a few of the other reviews and felt like that gave away too much of the story and pretty much summed up the whole thing in a few short paragraphs and I do not want to do that. I hate taking away the excitement and suspense from the book because I know laid out exactly what happens and ruin everything.
Rebecca writes very exciting and thrilling stories and I feel that everyone should experience that intensity firsthand without much knowledge of what goes down and how things happen. Lethal Lies keeps up the fast-paced, action pack story that keeps you on the edge of your seat the whole time and also gives you that hot romance to keep things steamy.
If you have not done so yet, read Deadly Silence and then come back to this one and read it right away!! I can't wait for book three: Twisted Truths, which I am assuming is Denver's story!!!
Read Deadly Silence first. This can catch you up and be fully enjoyed alone but you will will be missing out on Ryker's story.
It's a Small World. The song was in my head by the end. In the first book (Deadly Silence) the brothers are stretched thin trying to go in too many directions and solve too many mysteries. In the first half of Lethal Lies I had the feeling they would need to split up to stay safe. Their attention was divided and their resources were diminishing. Together they are stronger.
Anya is the focus of a the Copper Killer. She called in the help of her sister Loretta Jackson. An FBI Agent should have been safe. She should still be alive. Now Anya finds herself on the run from the killer and well meaning FBI while trying to be bait and discovering love with a private eye hiding secrets of his own. Sound confusing? Nope, it all comes together.
Heath is a private investigator, and a lawyer. His past both haunts and drives him. He does not want to need Anya right now. There is too much danger chasing and surrounding him.
I had not guessed the killer by the time of the big reveal. A new mystery awaits us in the third installment. (No information has been released yet.) I compare this series to a Brenda Novak with supernatural powers.
The Delight
Back to a group of men who are more than brothers, they are blood brothers. Genetically enhanced, raised by sadistic sheriff and his brother, and a woman all wrapped in science she has lost her soul. I love this world created with men who aren’t afraid to feel, but also stand up for what is right when raised in a horrific world.
Review
Lethal Lies is a bombshell of action. Go into this knowing this is the second book in the Blood Brothers series, which is also a spin off of the Sin Brothers Series. There is a underlying connection between all the books that makes this a read in order book. While you could read it as a stand alone, note that has a tie in to all the books that may leave you scratching your head. I highly recommend reading it all at the beginning with the Sin Brothers.
Blood Brothers are a group of men who were all fostered in a boys home run by a sadistic sheriff and his brother. Never forget the doctor known by two names who comes and studies them. While most boys would fight to be the supreme badass, these boys banded together becoming more than just brothers.
Lethal Lies picks up where Deadly Lies left us. A serial killer is on the lose kidnapping redheaded women, torturing them and eventually killing them. A lone FBI agent has set herself up as bait and she has been kidnapped. The hope is that she will get him, but as days go by the hope starts to fade. Heath is the one up for this hunt, working with the FBI to track down the killer. Now the baits sister wants revenge, but she is the one the killer is pandering to and it all adds up to an intense story of catching him before he kills again….or gets the heroine.
Anya is heartbroken over her sisters murder. The serial killer is taunting her with each kill as she is his ultimate goal. So what’s a girl to do when she wants the killer to be caught? She fakes an engagement to the one man who doesn’t want the limelight…in front of a news camera. This sets up an adventure of catching a killer, while also ignoring what they feel for each other.
This was an adventure, but also an adventure with plot holes that had me scratching my head. See these guys are genetically enhanced, but at times I wondered if they were. Some of the hide and catch scenes seemed to be to easy for the bad guy to just come get her. Secret hideouts that I didn’t really feel were secret. They are dealing with a serial killer and it all felt off.
The heroine left me off-kilter. While she didn’t know all of Heath’s background story, I felt she often put him in the path of danger with little to no regard she was endangering more than just her own life. She endangered the FBI, the local police and even Heath’s brothers and significant other.
The doctor is becoming more and more unhinged in her effort to get her “boys” back so she can start making the next generation. I don’t think she is going to make it too much longer as the time of reckoning is coming.
The evil is truly evil in this series. The good rides the fine line of gray. The brothers are my favorite element along with the cross books plot. I just didn’t particularly are for the heroine and her need to get revenge at almost any cost. Also, I felt the measures taken to protect and hunt were silly and not what I expected from these brothers. Still I enjoy going back to this world and hope this last brother can find his love…a love already revealed in this book.
Edge of my seat suspense, hot romance, mystery and drama all wrapped up into one fun to read package - yes please!
LETHAL LIES starts out explosively and continues in the same vein to the very end. Heath and his "blood" brothers (Ryker and Denver) are connected to author Rebecca Zanetti's Sin Brothers series, and they have Dr. Isabel and Sheriff Cobb still after these genetically engineered men. One of them wants to put them back in their place for studying and the other wants them dead. There are many twists and turns to this storyline that will have readers unable to stop themselves from turning pages faster and faster. Add in a couple of surprises that will have you shaking your head, because there is no way you could see that coming.
Heath has been involved in the investigation to the serial killer and once he comes in contact with Anya he wants nothing more than to protect her, but in doing so she accidentally brings his tormentors to his door. Anya is a strong willed woman, gutsy and smart, and once she sets a plan in motion doesn't want to walk away.
LETHAL LIES is suspense-filled, action packed, with a romance that has just the right amount of steamy, and add into all that the enjoyment watching the good guys win in the good vs. bad situations. I am so looking for the next Blood brothers book.

Heath and his brother s are still on the run from their past. Then Heath meets Anya and is very attracted to her. . So he goes with her on the hunt for a crazed serial killer. Heath’s non was killed by her abusive boyfriend and so a man hurting a woman is a big trigger for Heath and he sees the bruises on Anya and finds out the Copper killer who is a serial killer is after Anya. Then Heath feels instantly protective. Anya fights back against the serial killer as he is playing with her as she feels it is better than watching others die around you. Then Anya Announces on tv her engagement to Heath and she knows she is putting herself in danger.
I couldn’t really get into this story but I didn’t realize it was part of a series . I am sure I would have liked it more if I had read the first book and I am going to try. Then I will redo the review. But for now…
This is a series that I have enjoyed with both the Blood Brothers and the earlier Sin Brothers series. It has both suspense and romance combined to make an awesome and fascinating read. This is very fast paced and kept me up very late reading.
I love this series so hard. This and the Sin Brothers are both in my list of top 10 favorite series. I can't really name one thing that I like the most about it. Is it the storyline? Or the incredible bond that these men share? The kick-ass women who get to tame them? The writing? I say it's all of these thing. I keep hoping that in each book they find another brother out there so that this series continues for while.
Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC.
WOW! If you thought Deadly Silence was action packed, just wait until you sink your "teeth" into Lethal Lies! Rebecca Zanetti has created amazing characters in her Blood Brothers series, and then continues to add depth and complexity as it continues.
Lethal Lies literally picks up from where Zanetti left us in Deadly Silence, and the action doesn't stop. I love the growth we witness in both Heath and Anya, as they navigate the twists and turns of Copper Killer. I love how self aware Heath can be at times, and yet in total denial in others. Heath, Ryker and Denver are so very special, and Zanetti makes you personally investing in their lives.
I loved Anya from the beginning. She's an amazing mixture of her training in psychology and impulsiveness. She was easy to identify with, incredibility intelligent and smart in her professional life and so insecure and lacking self confidence in her personal relationships.
Zanetti keeps the story moving and the action tight. The entire book builds to the final act, and once it starts, there's no stopping or going back. You aren't going to want to put it down AND you won't see this one coming. I can't want to find out what happens next!
I can't believe it because I usually adore RZ's books, but I DNF'd this. The heroine was dumb as rocks and the situations and the reactions and responses of the hero were just so unbelievable I just didn't want to go on.
Genetically enhanced brothers with a revenged-minded sadistic sheriff and a psycho scientist on their tail going after a serial killer at the side of a victim's sister. Love the author and the premise of the series so I dove right in for the action-packed romantic suspense.
Lethal Lies is book two in the Blood Brothers' series which happens to be a spin-off of the Sins Brothers series. This one could be read out of order or standalone with the caveat that the reader is okay knowing its part of an on-going series. But my advice? Go back and start with the Sins Brothers and keep right on moving forward for all the fab stories.
So, Lethal Lies is Heath's book. It follows on the heels of Ryker's story and picks up with one of the secondary story lines in the previous book when Heath was called in to work with Feds and locals to track down a serial killer. In this story, one of the FBI goes in as bait and is killed and her sister wants revenge... so she goes in as bait and she takes Heath right on in with her when she stands before the TV cameras challenging the killer and declaring Heath her fiance.
So here's the thing. I enjoyed the overall story because I love these growly alpha male brothers that the author writes and their story of beating their atrocious pasts and trying to move on with Dr. Madison and the sheriff on their tail. But, the heroine on the other hand... I wasn't a fan. Anya, the heroine has spunk, but yeah... that's about all I admire about her. My jaw dropped when she threw Heath, nearly a stranger, into the path of a serial killer to get revenge for her sister's murder (and the revenge is mostly because Anya feels guilt). Then each time he preaches common sense and safety at her she emotionally blackmails him into letting her continue to dangle them as bait. Even after she finds out bad people are coming after Heath and his family, she still insists. She tells him to leave her and run, but come on, she had to know he wasn't going to let her get herself tortured and killed by a serial killer if he let her lie to the media about their relationship stand and helped her stand up to the FBI who wanted to put her in protective custody. I just... no, selfish. Couldn't care if she got into trouble and didn't care about the romance.
But, the ongoing story of the brothers staying ahead of the sheriff and the doctor and engaging with other genetically enhanced super soldiers that belonged to the doctor? That was great stuff. Things are coming to an exciting head as the third brother gets his story next.
Even though this one wasn't a favorite though still not bad, I still love the series and recommend it to romantic suspense fans who loved fast action and alpha heroes.
My thanks to Forever for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.
I've not read the Sin Brothers series, nor Deadly Sins. But Lethal Lies has certainly intrigued me enough that I am going to go back and read those books. Anya and Heath are thrown together due to tragic circumstances. In spite of a strictly business attitude, the attraction between combined with adrenaline and heightened emotions stirs up feelings within them that just cannot be ignored. But Heath has secrets in his past that has him constantly on the run. Pulling Anya into that mess is out of the question. Before long his past and the present merge to create a lethal situation and having Anya by his side is the only way to keep him sane enough to keep her safe.
Unfortunately I just did not like Lethal Lies like I had hoped I would. For my the story dragged out at times and just didn't fully hold my attention. Ms. Zanetti is an author that I usually enjoy and love but this one just didn't work for me.
