Lethal Lies is book 2 of Zanetti’s Blood Brothers Series, a spin-off of the popular Sin Brothers series.  Both series feature men who are genetically altered to produce super-soldiers, but who have managed to escape the control of mad scientist Dr. Isobel Madison (who will stop at nothing to get them back in her lab) and the sadistic Sheriff Cobb (who wants them dead for killing his brother).  This is a continuing plot line arc that spans both series and thus I highly recommend reading both series in order.

Ryker, Heath, and Denver, the Blood Brothers, have formed the Lost Bastards Investigative Services.  Heath Jones meets Anya Best, professor of criminal psychology, while investigating the disappearance of her sister, Loretta.  While intense chemistry sparks between them, Heath knows a white picket fence and hea is not in his future so while he vows to protect her with his life, he knows their relationship must end when the case is solved.  Heath is all alpha male, but his tender-heartedness often leads his head - drawing him into trouble.  When he sees Anya as the damsel-in-distress, he’s a goner.

Anya is reeling from the loss of her sister and has vowed to revenge her loss by tracking down the Copper Killer.  Though she barely knows Heath, she finds herself attracted to him and in a split-second decision, she offers herself up as bait to the killer while unwittingly revealing Heath’s name and location to national media - thus placing the Blood Brothers back on the mad scientist’s radar.  While these guys are lethal, bad*ss fighters, their fear of being returned to the hell of their past life is real.  As the story unfolds, it’s a race against time to catch the killer before they themselves are caught and returned to the lab.

Lethal Lies is high octane, pedal-to-the-metal action from cover to cover.  A strong support cast fleshes out the story, helping carry the suspense and romance elements to the shocking reveal of the killer in the end.  An underlying theme of family and the fact that it isn’t always genetic is nicely woven throughout both series.  While I felt some personal baggage between Heath and Anya was strung out a bit too long before resolution, I still found myself cheering them on!  Really great job on the set-up of Denver’s story in the next book!  Can’t wait!  A Must Read!

What’s it About? The Jones brothers are still on the search for a serial killer but after a woman Heath Jones knew becomes the killer's latest victim, it turns personal for him. Especially when Anya Best, the victim's sister comes to him for help. Anya is determined to avenge her sister's murder so she uses the media to taunt the killer into coming after her. Making things even more complicated, Anya unknowingly exposes Heath and his brothers to an old enemy that has spent years looking for them. Now Heath has to protect Anya from not one threat but two all while battling a fierce mutual attraction.

Overall reaction to the story? Don't expect to get anything done once you start reading Lethal Lies because Rebecca Zanetti really takes things to the next level with this one! The action is top notch, the romance is off the charts, and the suspense all but stopped my heart just like a good book should! From beginning to end, I was kept on the edge of my seat and I didn't give a damn about silly things like housework, eating, or even sleeping for that matter. Lethal Lies is a strongly crafted story that will delight, shock, and please fans of romantic suspense.

Describe the hero in five words: Deadly. Kind. Smart. Tortured. Loyal.

Did you like him? Yes.

Why? Heath just might be my favorite of the three Jones brothers for one simple reason: He rescues animals. There is something so drop dead sexy about a man like Heath. He's a genetically enhanced human who can kill a person with a single blow yet he has a soft spot for wounded animals, he can't turn away from an animal in pain. He totally melted my heart with that aspect of his character. Seriously, he needs a puppy. There needs to be a thing on Twitter or Facebook, like #APuppyforHeath . I'd support that. Of course, he shouldn't get a puppy until he and his brothers are out of danger but after that? A puppy needs to happen. Heath is too much of a nurturer and protector to not have a puppy.

I got off track a bit there didn't I? Anywho, Heath is dedicated to his brothers and of the three of them feels things more deeply than they do which made him the most likely to hold onto his personal failings and shortcomings and made him seem more vulnerable to me. It didn't take away from his mad skills though, it just made him a more balanced character instead of a machine.

Describe the heroine in five words: Stubborn. Brave. Intelligent. Kind. Dedicated.

Did you like her? Yes.

Why? Anya may not physically be as capable as Heath of fighting off a dangerous killer but she's so dang smart that she becomes crucial to finding said killer. She does NOT let herself be placed on the sidelines while the big, tough men do all the "heavy lifting" and that was my favorite thing about her. Heath may have felt like finding the killer was personal but it was Anya's sister that was murdered and she was so not going to have anyone else do the work that she was capable of doing. And aside from basically painting a target on her forehead using the media, Anya made sure she was an asset in the case rather than a burden. She didn't pull stupid stunts thinking she could handle things on her own and when things got tough she didn't fall apart, she got smarter and tougher. I love a heroine who can be what she needs to be in order to survive even if she's wetting her pants on the inside. Anya will be a tough heroine to beat.

Let’s talk about the romance: Heath and Anya have an almost instant attraction but while it's there the main focus is finding the serial killer who murdered Anya's sister and that allowed the attraction to simmer and then boil over into some pretty hot scenes. But while there was a lot of physical chemistry, there was also an emotional connection that built between them even with all that was going on. I loved that Zanetti didn't build Heath and Anya's romance around sex but rather their emotions and desire to make sure no one else had to suffer the loss of a loved one to the serial killer. I just loved these two, Heath because he was a natural protector and Anya because she challenged Heath to be more than who he was when they first met.

How about that supporting cast? Since Heath is super close to his brothers and they're all on the run from the same people, Ryker and Denver had a lot of scenes in the book and I love the dynamic between these three. They're so different yet at the same time they have a lot in common. Their lives are so dangerous and intense that I really relished the rare moments they let their guards down and acted like normal guys who happened to be brothers. It was nice to see Zara too, her presence helped balance out an otherwise testosterone filled cast.

Click It or Skip It? Click It. Lethal Lies brings the action, the romance, and a three brothers that readers can't help but want to see get a happy ending. Plus, Heath needs a puppy. #APuppyforHeath

Another great book in the series but it felt like a placeholder till book three. It was almost rushed to end.

Revenge is a dish best served cold, but in Lethal Lies it is down right frozen; as in not moving, lifeless. Romantic suspense is supposed to be 1, romantic, and 2, suspenseful, but you’d be hard pressed to find either.
Anya Best, a college psychology professor, is on the hunt for her sister’s serial killer. It is an unconventional choice, to say the least, to have someone outside of law enforcement and with no experience take on this challenge, but Lethal Lies plays fast and loose with authenticity. Case in point, Heath Jones, private “detective,” who along with his rag-tag team The Lost Bastards, is also on the case. Again, the reasons why are brushed aside until late in the third act, and even then it is not adequately explained. Anya and Heath are the dynamic duo, and theirs is an uneasy partnership. As romantic leads, they do little to endear the reader. He is a bland bore, whose caveman tendencies become cliched and tiresome. She’s a green gal whose constant whining make it hard to root for her, let alone rescue. She does have an uncanny knack for being one of the most clueless would be professionals who can jam herself and the plot into the most precarious of predicaments (i.e. TSTL). The chemistry is non-existent (there were more sparks between her and the other guy) and the insta-feelings not believable.
Lethal Lies does have a plethora of bad guys/villains, but they are so thinly drawn it is hard to see them as anything but caricatures. The plot is convoluted and the details murky, but given the penchant for mass information dumps at the most inopportune times, one can parse out the particulars without breaking a sweat.
Heath’s childhood secrets are an interesting element, and the opener is intriguing as it is heartbreaking, but the meandering pace stifles any flow. The synopsis touts breathtaking twists and turns, but when you can see the turn coming from miles away, there is little surprise. Lethal Lies does not have enough grit to make it deadly nor enough emotion to make it stimulating. Disappointing read.

Another phenomenal read from Rebecca Zanetti! I hope she continues to write books about sexy, genetically-enhanced soldiers because I have been hooked since book one of the Sin Brothers series. I cannot get enough! Rebecca's writing is great as always in Lethal Lies. She never fails to deliver amazing books filled with equal parts action and sexy romance. This story feels darker and edgier than previous novels. I loved that there was a lot more of a suspense element in this story due to the serial killer aspect. All of the other books have their fair share of suspense, but it was extra prevalent in this book. It will keep you flipping the pages, perched on the edge of your seat.

These characters are both dealing with a lot of things throughout the story and I love how it brings them together. One of the strongest things the reader sees in these novels is the different relationships. Though I love the relationship between Heath and Anya, I also love seeing the three brothers interacting. They have such a strong bond and it translates so well within the story.

The ending of this book has me ready for book three! Denver has intrigued me from the beginning, so I am very much looking forward to reading his story. These books are a must for anyone looking for swoon worthy heroes and women that are as awesome as they are.

Rebecca Zanetti’s “Blood Brothers” series started off with “Deadly Silence”, and continues with the “Lethal Lies” that haunt the Blood Brothers. A spin off of the Sin Brothers Series, these blood brothers are trying to eliminate the evil that turned them into experimental soldiers for pure evil intentions. Hiding behind the “Lost Bastards Investigative Agency” as private investigators, Ryker, Heath and Denver are trying to create a normal life for themselves.

All Anya Best wants is revenge as for her sister murdered by the infamous Copper Killer. Profiling and helping the FBI to catch the killer stalking her, she would do anything to bring justice to the innocent murdered, even if she has to fake an engagement to Heath Jones, one of the blood brothers, sexy, brooding and deadly.

Heath Jones wants the same thing that Anya wants, to bring the killer to justice and try to escape the crazy people hell bent on capturing them all and continue enhanced experiments. Falling for Anya was not on the cards; it only brings danger and death to their door. But passion and love have a way of creeping in amidst the chaos and death created by evil.

And the revelation of the Copper Killer is one lethal and deadly surprise!

“Lethal Lies” is the second in the ongoing saga of the brothers created by Rebecca Zanetti, and prowess at creating amazing stories of suspense, adrenaline and nail biting twists. ,

Lethal Lies blew me away! I loved the Sin Brothers series, but I think Blood Brothers might actually top them in both excitement, intricate storylines and romance.
I somehow read book one and two out of order, but still found everything to my liking. Zanetti's writing is on par, and I was not only on the edge of my seat, I actually fell down from it at one point.
Exciting, mysterious and hot.

Heath Jones is a natural born protector and defender of the weak; whether it's an injured animal or an abused human, he will put himself on the line to ensure the safety of those that cannot protect themselves. That's why the Copper Killer case has him tied in knots and determined to solve it before another innocent woman can be brutalized and killed. When friend and FBI Agent Loretta Jackson goes missing after setting herself up as bait for the psycho, Heath knows he has to step up his game and end this.

Anya Best has to find her sister before it is too late; after all, it is her fault Loretta was taken. Anya called her when she started receiving disturbing letters and pictures, and if she hadn't, then Loretta would never have taken the case and would still be with her. When the worst happens, Anya decides it's time to take matters into her own hands, but she does it in a way that exposes Heath to national media attention with absolutely no thought or knowledge of the consequences it can have for Heath and his brothers.

To say that the Jones boys are monumentally unhappy would be an understatement, but Ryker and Denver know that Heath is going to go all in to save the woman who just painted a huge bulls-eye on them as well as herself. It goes without saying that she fires every protective instinct the man possesses, but the undeniable attraction between them is completely unexpected for him. Anya challenges Heath at every turn, but the more he sees the more he is drawn to her beauty, wit and intelligence equally. Spending time in close proximity is a serious threat to his carefully maintained control, particularly since the woman seems hell bent on pushing him to his breaking point.

Anya sees the wildness lurking beneath the surface and wants him to trust her enough to let himself go completely just once- but does she know what she is asking? The UST continues to build until Heath has finally had all he can take, but even then he is determined to treat her as if she is breakable which just urges her to push him harder. Heath knows if he lets her in on the secrets he and his brothers are hiding, it will make her a target and a personal weakness but he isn't sure he can just walk away after they catch the killer either.

And little do they know that killer is closer to home than they ever could have imagined! I loved how Ms. Zanetti tied together the boys' past with their present on so many different levels, and the suspense had me biting my nails and wildly flipping the pages trying to figure it all out right up until the big reveal. Anya and Heath were great together, and I loved how Ryker, Denver and Zara immediately folded her into their little family as they comprehended how much she meant to Heath even before he was willing to admit it to himself. And when Heath's dominant side comes out to play... WHEW! Get the fans out ladies!

The past makes its inevitable appearance, and the crescendo toward a final showdown is building. Before they can get there though, Denver has to face his more recent past and the woman he walked away from for her own safety. She just took steps to reach out to him that inadvertently put her in a glaring spotlight from Dr. Madison, and the stage is set for his story Twisted Truths. Did I mention I can't wait to see how it all turns out?

I love Rebecca Zanetti's writing so I was super excited to read Lethal Lies. Lethal Lies is the second book in the Blood Brothers series which is actually a spin off of the Sin Brother series. Of course, each book in the series can be read as a stand alone but there are recurring characters so I would highly recommend reading them in order. I really enjoyed myself while reading Lethal Lies.

So this is the story of Heath and Anya. Let's start with Anya. Anya is a professor. She thinks she has her life together but a serial killer is out hunting her. After her sister gets brutally murdered by the infamous Copper Killer Anya vows to put an end to it. Like all Rebecca Zanetti heroines, I ended up really liking Anya. She was a perfect mixture of feminine and vulnerable but she had a core of steel. She is determined to find the Copper Killer even if it means putting herself up as bait.

Then we have Heath. Heath and his brothers have enough problems on their own. But Heath has always had a soft spot for women and animals. He can't help but get involved in the Copper Killer case. Heath obviously likes his control over everything in life but Anya makes him lose it. I loved Heath. He was a great guy. He only wanted to protect Anya and his brothers.

Anya lies to the press stating that Heath and she are engaged to bait the Copper Killer exposing the Lost Bastards in the process. Heath and his brothers have multiple enemies on their trail but he is determined to bring all the victims of the Copper Killer justice. I loved Anya and Heath together. They made for a great pair who understood each other. They were both a bit stubborn in their own way but they worked so well.

I loved the way Rebecca Zanetti weaves her stories. They are chock full of action and romance and bonds of friendship and brotherhood. I enjoyed the main romance but I thoroughly enjoyed meeting Zara and Ryker and Denver too. I can't wait for Denver's book which is next for it all to culminate. The villains definitely have it coming for them. Lethal Lies was a great read.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher for an honest review.

This is the second book in the Blood Brother's series however it can be read as a stand alone. I love how Rebecca Zanetti weaves the story around her characters. She has these two right in the thick of things. Heath Jones is a PI with his two friends he's claimed as brothers. They're helping catch the Copper Killer - a man fixated on red heads. Specifically Anya Best.

Not knowing what she's ultimately doing Anya puts both herself and Heath right smack dab in the middle of the danger. She couldn't have guessed what would happen when she makes her announcement and now these two are on high alert.

Zanetti has included the right amount romance and suspense for these two. I enjoyed their banter back and forth and seeing who would come out on top. They had their work cut out for them on this particular case. Heath's brothers didn't have as much of a role in this book as they did in the first of this series. They play off each other so well when they are included though. There was times in reading this story I was asking myself "why hasn't anyone..." "why didn't they..." which is why this is only getting four stars from me.

Definitely pick this on up if you're a suspense reader. I don't think you'd be disappointed.

If there is such a term as blockbuster for the book world then Lethal Lies should be classified as one. It packs thrilling action, gripping suspense, and sexy romance brought together by fantastic writing, great characterization and a plot that will keep you guessing until the very end.

Professor in criminal psychology Anya Best wants to avenge her sister’s death. To the catch the serial killer who had originally targeted her but in sad twist of fate took her sister and murdered her, Anya’s going to have to outsmart him, lure him into making a mistake by putting herself as bait all while trying to not fall in love with the lethal and dangerous man she hoodwinked into pretending to be her fiancée.

This time the Lost Bastards detective agency is going to get its man. Led by Heath Jones, he and his two brothers are on a mission to find the Copper Killer whose latest victim was an FBI agent they’d previously worked with. But when the agent’s younger sister Anya puts a huge spotlight on herself and Heath, the brothers know they’ll soon be fighting against Dr. Isobel Maddison and the sadistic Sheriff Cobb as well.

A doozy of a race against a deranged killer and escaping their past ensues, resulting in a lot of pretend kisses between Heath and Anya that soon start feeling very real. With plot twists I never saw coming, I loved rolling with the nonstop action, suspense and sexiness. Lethal Lies in an amazing add to the series.

Being this a Sin Brother’s spin off the story wouldn’t be complete without a cameo by at least a couple of the Gray brothers. Yes, I know, there are a lot of brothers, but they’re all wonderful heroes with shells reinforced by horrific childhoods but with a core so deliciously caring, loyal, protective and loving you can’t help but fall in love with them. I equally anticipate, because doh! its Denver’s book! and dread it because it’ll be the last in the series.

Lethal Lies is book #2 in the Blood Brothers series by Rebecca Zanetti. It is a standalone romantic suspense lovers with enjoy. Told from both points of view.

Lethal Lies is the second book in Zanetti's Blood Brothers but could be read as a stand alone although I think you'll get more enjoyment if you've read the first book. I love Rebecca Zanetti and I loved the Sin Brothers and the first book in this series. I really liked this one but there were a few things that just weren't quite as good as the other books. I went back and forth on my rating and finally settled on 4 stars because I did really enjoy this even with the few things that didn't work as well for me. My expectations for a Zanetti book are very high and this one didn't quite hit them.

This book centered around Heath who has always been the protector in the group which is saying a lot since both his brothers are also very protective. He is the brother who takes in stray animals and helps them and has a lot of triggers when it comes to abused women due to his mother who was killed by an abusive boyfriend. While I really liked Heath he didn't feel as well developed as her heroes normally are. IMO too much time was spent on his "triggers" and not enough fleshing the rest of Heath out.

Anya is the target of a serial killer who's story started in book 1. Heath and his brothers were hired by an earlier victim's family and they have continued to work on this case. Health sees Anya as a wounded woman and wants to protect her. However, Anya is much stronger than Heath gives her credit for in the beginning. She will do anything to stop this killer and so she sets herself and Heath up as bait (although she is already a target since the killer was always after her).

I thought the suspense was very well done but the romance suffered a little. I didn't necessarily believe the chemistry between Heath and Anya. The first half of the book there really isn't much to the relationship between the two other than Anya lusting after Heath and him trying to protect her. It didn't really feel like a build to me so when they end up together it just fizzled for me. I did like both characters a lot I just didn't believe that they fell in love with each other.

I loved the interactions between the brothers and the overall plot with Dr. Madison and Sheriff Cobb. I saw at least some of the twist coming at about the 1/2 way point but there were definitely parts of it that surprised me. I think the last thing that really bothered me was Anya's sudden ability to get away from the dangerous situation she was in at the end. It seemed completely unrealistic given the rest of the book and I had a hard time with it.

I'm glad the Copper killer plot was wrapped up in this book as I'm much more caught up in the Dr. Madison and Sheriff Cobb aspects and expect a big finale with Denver's book which I am very much looking forward to.

So while this was my least favorite of the Sin Brothers/Blood Brothers books it was still very enjoyable. The suspense was excellent, the brothers' relationships were touching and sweet and the ongoing plot interesting. The romance was the only part that was a bit lacking for me but still definitely worth reading.

4.5 stars--LETHAL LIES is the second installment in Rebecca Zanetti’s contemporary, adult BLOOD BROTHERS slightly paranormal, romantic suspense series focusing on three blood brothers-Heath, Ryker and Denver Jones- who own and operate The Lost Bastards Investigative Agency. LETHAL LIES is private investigator Heath Jones and criminal psychologist Anya Best’s story line. The Blood Brothers is a spin off from Zanetti’s SIN Brothers series. You do not have to have read the original series to enjoy LETHAL LIES but for cohesion, backstory and connection I recommend reading The Sin Brothers series as several of the characters cross over, and the ongoing conflict continues from the original series.

SOME BACKGROUND: Years earlier Dr. Isobel Madison aka Sylvia Daniels, and a covert government agency used experimental DNA to make the perfect super soldier. The continuing trope ventures into another direction as two more ‘family of brothers’ are brought into the fold. All of the brothers are ‘created’ in one way or another; they are experiments of Dr. Isobel Madison-a woman who is determined to destroy that which she made. On the run, these super soldiers and their blood brothers, stay one step ahead of Dr. Madison, and Sheriff Elton Cobb, Madison’s lover and the man seeking revenge for the death of his brother.

Told from several third person perspectives including Heath and Anya, LETHAL LIES focuses on the hunt for a serial killer who is targeting young women with red hair. Heath Jones and The Lost Bastards have been contracted by one of the victim’s family but find themselves pulled into an FBI operation where everything goes wrong. Enter Anya Best whose sister-an FBI agent-is the latest victim of the Copper Killer-and the woman with whom Heath Jones will fall in love. The $ex scenes are intimate and seductive without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text. There is some light BDSM including spanking.

LETHAL LIES follows two paths: the search for a serial killer, and the brothers’ struggle to remain off the grid as Madison and Cobb continue their hunt for the creations they made. When the FBI lose one of their own, Heath Jones becomes suspect number one exposing our story line hero to some unwanted media scrutiny, and the reveal of their whereabouts to Madison and Cobb. From safe house to safe house, the brothers battle the FBI, the local police, and the super soldiers sent to take them down. Anya Best is the killer’s ultimate target, and a woman who is willing to place herself in danger to get the man that killer her sister.

There are a large number of secondary and supporting characters including Heath’s brothers Ryker and his fiancé Zara, and Denver Jones; Dr. Isobel Madison, Sheriff Elton Cobb, FBI special agent Frederick Reese, local police Detective Malloy, and the return of Shane Dean-Heath’s biological brother. The requisite evil is tri-fold with a twist to the killer’s identity.

The world building continues to focus on the brothers fight for freedom. Dr. Isobel Madison is desperate for the return of ALL of her creations, and will do everything in her power to see it done. Like book one-Deadly Silence-the search for a serial killer places the Jones Brothers in the direct line of fire, and back on Madison’s radar.

Wow! What a fantastic ride! The danger kept me glued to the pages, as well as the hot romance. Sexy, Heath sure met his match in Anya, and she was perfect for all the twists and turns in the story. She was strong, yet vulnerable, and I liked her from the start. I also love how the Lost Bastards interact with each other. Not a lot of banter, but a solid brotherly relationship that is heartwarming. Bad guys you love to hate, heart-pounding action, and a feel-good romance. It ticked off all my requirements.

There’s never any lack of drama, suspense or romance in a Rebecca Zanetti novel. And when you combine the badass virtues that make her stories exciting with the Blood Brothers saga, it’s a winning combination. Every time.

Lethal Lies opens with another Lost Bastards Investigative Services case. Heath Jones calls on Loretta Best, who is working with him on a serial killer case, known as the Copper Killer. Only, instead of Loretta answering, her sister Anya does. Anya is a criminal psychologist who’s been targeted by a man with a penchant for pretty, young women with red hair—like her. Loretta has been missing for two days, which makes Anya jumpy. But the men posing as US Marshalls at her door make her panic. They grab her and in the process of kidnapping her, Heath barrels in and saves the day. As was the case in Ryker’s story, sinister forces from their childhood continue to hunt down the Jones brothers.

Like the genetically modified Dean brothers, Heath and his brothers have a touch of modification, too. And like the Dean brothers, the Joneses are also on the run from Dr. Madison and Sheriff Cobb. The doctor wants to study them, and the Sheriff wants them dead.

Anya has no idea the perils facing Heath in the background, and flings herself into the limelight to try and draw out the killer. And if it wasn’t bad enough that she waved the killer’s personalized red flag on television, she also claimed Heath as her fiancé … putting him directly in another killer’s crosshairs. Her spontaneous taunting has dire consequences. She’s selfish enough to throw Heath into the fray without thinking about how it may affect his life, but he’s private enough to hold the details of his history to his chest.

Balancing threats is no easy feat for Heath, and between the forces vying for his head, he really gets it coming and going. Because as much as he begins to believe in a future with Anya, it’s hard for him to see an end where he comes out breathing.

Zanetti’s stories are always woven with vivid detail and a breakneck pace. As a reader, there’s really no time to draw a peaceful breath until the story ends. Lethal Lies is another winner.

Sarah – ☆☆☆☆
The second book in this series sees the brothers continue to run from Dr. Madison and Sheriff Cobb, while also hunting down a serial killer. Once again, I enjoyed the combination of suspense and romance.

This time, the focus of the story is on Heath and Anya, a psychologist whose sister is one of the killer’s victims. I liked both of these characters, but they didn’t come alive for me in quite the same way Ryker and Zara did in the first book. Heath’s story still isn’t as clear for me as Ryker’s was. Anya is supposed to be a psychology professor but her childish and reckless behaviour didn’t necessarily match her professional identity.

This story starts mid-action and the author expects readers to pick up directly from the last book. The result is less world building and less character development – readers are expected to know the brothers and their background. The tradeoff is that there is little time spent recapping the first book and more time spent on the increasingly complicated plot. I loved the series of surprises – I really didn’t guess the Copper Killer’s identity – but I did guess pretty much every other character along the way. Which is always the sign of a good suspense story.

I enjoyed the action more than the romance in this book. I’m fascinated by Dr. Madison’s experiments and I like the links back to other series. We’re given a teaser for the next story at the end and I’m excited to read the third book in this series.

Avid Reader – ☆☆☆☆
M/F Romance, Suspense
Triggers: Click HERE to see Avid Reader’s review on Goodreads for trigger warnings.

This book is the second installment and it is just as filled with action as the first.

Anya was being stalked – taunted and doing what she thought was the right thing, she contacted the FBI. Unfortunately, it turned out that the killer was one step ahead and was able to get the upper hand. In the process of finding out who this stalker is, her sister is murdered. With few options, Anya turns to Heath.

While trying to figure out what was going on in the Copper Killer case, Anya runs into Heath. He is part of the PI group that her sister was working with. He and his brothers are still running from Ned Cobb and Isobel Madison, but they are hoping to go offensive rather than always play defense.

The romance that is in this story is not very developed. It's more of a suspense and mystery story. However, what little glimpse we see of both Heath and Anya, you can tell that they will fit together. While they don't always see eye to eye, Anya seems to be able to stand up to Heath.

Overall, this was a fast-paced story with a lot going on. You definitely need to read the previous books to know who all of the characters are and have a good handle on what's going on.

I can't wait for Denver's story. I feel that he's fairly deep and hope for a great story.

This continues the overall story arc from Deadly Silence involving the hunt for a serial killer as well as the brothers' past coming for them.

Heath Jones is a PI working with his adopted brothers. They have been working this serial killer case along with the FBI and Heath has become nearly obsessed with it and each loss. Heath is usually the calmer and in control brother. He's always been a savior and protector. But it seems they are one step behind this killer.

Anya Best is the target. She has lost everyone she cares about and feels guilty about the fact that her sister paid the price. She is a professor of psychology and profiler so she does have some important skills. In a bold move, Anya decides to publicly taunt the killer and ends up pulling Heath right in even deeper and putting a bigger target on both of their backs.

Anya is not just beautiful, intelligent, and fragile. She has an inner strength, determination, sense of justice, and bravery about her. All characteristics that send Heath's instincts and attraction into overdrive. She brings out his protective, possessive, and passionate tendencies and breaks down his control. She is determined to put herself as bait, while Heath and his brothers are determined to keep her safe. Heath has his secrets and is also dealing with threats from his past that won't seem to stop coming for them. And with the media attention surrounding them, it is sending a beacon to their enemies. She is determined to get him to trust her and share the truth. I liked them together and how they challenged each other.

They are working in gray areas and not exactly following the letter of the law or fully assisting the government agencies placing them under some suspicion. They have to be careful about what information is shared and who they can trust. There are multiple antagonists and threats with various motives. There is a big build up to the mystery of the identity of the serial killer and what his/her motivations are. So there is an increase in mystery, tension, emotional connection, danger, and action.

Heath and Anya have hot chemistry. She pushes and challenges him. But he just feels he needs to keep her safe and that he is not a good bet. He tries hard not to lose control with her, but she enjoys pushing his buttons. And a man can only resist so much. She's bold and fearless. He's strong and determined. Their situation seems bleak at times, and hope and keeping their wits bout them is all they can do to prepare.

I enjoy this world that Rebecca Zanetti created with the Sin Brothers and continued in this spin-off series. I liked getting more with Ryker, Zara, Denver, and the small cameos from the Gray brothers. I love their camaraderie, dynamics, and dedication to one another. There are plenty of dangerous enemies and psychos to hate. There are multiple threats and some surpises.

I will admit that at times this one seemed slow paced and long. Not sure if it was because of the gradual build and slow burn...or the fact this one focused more on the serial killer story than the first book and maybe since that is not my favorite story line it just made it seem that way. One story arc is concluded sufficiently, but one is still definitely ongoing. And that threat is not just coming from one source. Overall it was a slower-build mystery and romantic suspense story with some twists and turns.

Denver's story has been teased and I am looking forward to him hopefully reuniting with his lost love. And I am sure danger and drama will follow.

This is the second book in the Blood Brothers series and it is definitely better if you have read the previous book and the Sin Brothers series as all the books are related. Heath and his brothers have been trying for years to both evade and destroy their nemesis, Dr. Madison and Sheriff Cobb. In the course of this quest, they have discovered unknown siblings (the Sin Brothers) and in some cases love. In this latest installment, Heath teams up with a criminal psychologist, Anya, in tracking down the serial killer that just killed her sister. Lethal Lies was action-packed as Heath and Anya find themselves tracking the killer that is also connected with Dr. Madison. Plenty of romance and suspense, you won't want to put this book down. The next installment promises to be just as exciting as we find out what really happened with Denver and his lost love, Noni.

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this novel.

4.5 Stars

Anya Best has been working with the FBI to help find the Copper Killer. Watching victim after victim being taken has been hitting close to home... and when the latest victim ends up being her sister, Anya is done with working the case behind the scenes.

Heath Jones has been working on finding the serial killer himself, but with more than one danger threatening him and his brothers the case was put on the back burner... until Anya uses him to taunt the killer with some devastating media attention.

This was a fantastic and heart pounding read... while hunting and trying to stay a step ahead of a brilliant minded serial killer, Anya and Heath are working against time and the inevitable strike of the killer. They have an unmistakable attraction that may very well be a bad idea, but when witnessing the impact of so many deaths up close, they can not deny the need to live their lives to the fullest.

With interesting and developed characters, a carefully planned out plot, and a well written and fascinating storyline this book is a must read.

This is the second book in the Blood Brothers series, and it picks up where the first book ended. I love the continuation of the story, and revisiting all of the characters and can not wait to see what happens in book three!

I received a complimentary copy of this book for my honest and unbiased review.
