Just like the first in the Blood Brother series this one is just as gritty, dark and takes you on a crazy ride twist and turns. This book picks up where the last one left off on the copper killer and we soon discover why this person is killing red headed women.
Lethal Lies has so much going on if the reader didn't read the first book there is no catching up in this one because it starts off with a bang. Adding more characters than the first book which at times can get a little confusing and as if the author realized that she changed the story mid way though to focus on the two leads in the story and their romance. Leading the Copper Killer running around and their past catching up with the brothers. Which again you are trying to remember all the different characters which if readers are not careful you will get lost.
The book has its sexy times, confession times and two lost souls who need each other.
I can't wait to find out more about Dr. Isobel Madison and what will happen to her in the end.
Each books add more details into the blood brothers lives along with bring others from her Sin brothers series which I didn't read.
If you have read the Sin brother series this will add to your love of those books if you haven't just another characters in a long list that show up though out the book.
This is a great series to get lost in for a couple of hours.
Advance Copy from the publisher and Netgalley
I can't wait to read the next in the series
Heath and his blood brothers are still on the run and fighting their past. However, when he meets Anya, the danger of entanglements might be too hard for him to fight.
Anya decides that fighting back against the serial killer playing with her is better than watching others die around her. When she announces on live tv that her and Heath are engaged, she knows the danger she is putting herself in, but she never could have imagined the greatest danger was to her heart.
There was no mercy when monsters harmed women.
Book two in the Blood Brothers series reunites us with the Lost Boys. This time it is Heath who is the hero and with a mother who was killed by an abusive boyfriend, he has a big time trigger for men who hurt women. When he sees Anya with bruises, no matter of the innocent reasoning, and finds out that the Copper Killer serial killer is after her, he instantly goes into protector mode. This past hurt and resulting trigger for Heath, while emotional, was a bit overplayed and repetitive. The numerous times he saw red or freaked out made him seem less strong protector and more auto-pilot brainless alpha. The story didn't flush out his personality enough for me, he seemed like he only had two depths, alpha protector and hot for Anya. I did enjoy the scenes where Heath and the brothers interacted but I missed other personality nuances.
She studied him, her eyes darkening. Finally, one corner of her mouth quirked. "You're a beneath the surface kind of guy, aren't you?"
I kind of had the same problem with Anya, she had the hots for Heath (while kind of sorta but not being afraid of him) and wanted to be in charge of capturing the Copper Killer. At times she seemed brave and others she seemed needlessly talking big game while blindingly doing nothing. I also thought the emotion of losing her sister and fighting her attraction to Heath felt off, would she be fighting sexual thoughts the night of her sister's funeral? I think, ultimately, the uneven feelings I had with the lead characters came from the meandering feel from the story.
The beginning of the story gets going right away, with the back story and a continuing story thread I wouldn't recommend this as a standalone, but it also felt a bit choppy. It eventually smooths out as we are re-introduced to the handful of cast of characters that include Heath's brothers and the villains. Dr. Madison, who created the brothers (also the tie-in to the author's previous series Sin Brothers), Sheriff Cobb who works for Dr. Madison but also has a personal vendetta against the brothers, and Daniel, a soldier still working for Dr. Madison. The Dr. Madison and super soldier secret military program is intriguing, interesting and what I found captured my attention the most. As it is the continuing story thread, there is no resolution here but you can feel things building up in a crescendo.
Mostly, I found this book to be a slow moving, repetitive layover in the series. Heath and Anya have a bit of insta-love, the must protect Anya but Anya demanding to be in charge, bickering with FBI, and forced serial killer tie-in went in circles for too long. The next book is about the last Blood Brother, Denver. I'm hoping for more of the action, chemistry, and movement in the interesting super soldier program that appeared in the first.
"I like you, too," she said. Yeah, she'd just opened herself up. Perhaps she was crazy. His upper lip quirked. "You're dangerous lady."
Anya Best wants revenge on the serial killer that killed her sister and she will do anything to get it. When Heath Jones comes into her life, she doesn’t know if she should trust him. Whether or not she can, she knows that he’s the man that can help her. She feels ultimately responsible for her sister’s death since Anya is the one the Copper Killer really wanted. Loretta wouldn’t even have been involved in the case if it wasn’t for Anya.
Heath wants Anya as far away from the Copper Killer as possible. He lets her think that she’s being used as bait when, in fact, she’s not. Heath has never felt a primal attraction to anyone like he does to Anya and it brings out instincts him that he hasn’t felt since he was a helpless boy in the Boys home that he and his brothers grew up in.
In addition to the Copper Killer case, Heath and his brothers are on the run. Isobel Madison wants them back for her lab. Sheriff Cobb wants to kill them because they killed his brother in self-defense all those years ago. The last thing that Heath wants to do is bring Anya into the middle of everything. When you add in the Copper Killer, the group has quite a plate full.
Anya was borderline TSTL. She refused to go away to a safe house while the Copper Killer was at large. This killer has been contacting her for years. Years. Yet she thinks that she can outsmart him. It was laughable. Still, the romance between these two kept the book going strong. It was visceral and intense and I didn’t want it to end. I’m looking forward to Denver’s book.
Rating: 4 out of 5.
Absolutely adored this book! Thank you for allowing to be lost in a world that I'll surely revisit!
If you thought you liked the Sin Brothers series or even if you thought it was just ok..... You will be blown away by this spin off! Intrigue, suspense, friendship, s3x, evil masterminds and family. All this in a page turner of a book by Rebecca Zanetti. Loved it!
Heath and his brothers run the Lost Bastards Investigative Agency. Trying to stay under the radar. Trying to find the Dr. that created them and the Sheriff who wants his revenge before they find the brothers. Meanwhile, Heath is caught up in finding the Copper killer before he strikes again. Anya's sister had been working the case and turns up missing. She turns to Heath for help and unwittingly puts him in the spotlight. The race is on to see who will find who first.
The first book was good but this one was fantastic! Loved catching up with Riker and Zara. Really looking forward to book 3 as we get a sneak peek into what has Denver all tied up in knots. Here's hoping the good Doctor finally finds her demise!
I do recommend reading the Sin Brothers series first, just to get into the world building. Grab this one up!
The search is still on for the Copper Killer, he is out there and the blood brothers must find him before it's to late! Heath is a young man who is damaged from his past. People think they can save him, women especially! It's to late for him, or so he thought...... Until Anya comes into his life.
It's a hot thrilling ride that Rebecca Zanetti writes so well! I was on the edge of my seat with the Copper Killer, and hoping Heath and Anya get that happy ending they deserve.
Lethal Lies was a blast to read. The 2nd book to Rebecca Zanetti Blood Brother series. We have Heath Jones trying to bring justice to the lawless with the help of brothers. But things get personal when the serial killer nicknamed “Copper Killer” has an eye for Anya.
Anya has personal problems after walking in on her boyfriend getting busy with one of his students. But nothing is more personal when you attract the attention of a serial killer. With one phone call, Anya will change her life for the worse or better depending on your perceptions. I personally am the person who always sees the glass as half empty.
The action begins from the start and maintained that flow until the very last page. It was a pleasure to read this book. I changed my whole entire reading order just to read this book first. I was hoping for goods things from this book since I really enjoyed the Sins Brothers and the first book in this new series.
Well, Rebecca Zanetti didn’t disappoint. The chemistry between Heath and Anya was captivating. What I enjoyed about this story, was the same thing that drew me in from the start...the romantic suspense. Let me say, that I thought I knew who the “Copper Killer” and it was a real shocker to found out who it really was.
I will recommend this book to anyone who is into romantic suspense. I also would recommend that you start with the Sins Brothers series to get the back history. Reason being that the villainess in this series made her appearance in the Sins Brother’s series.
The second installment in this action packed series. Three brothers could not be closer if they were united by blood. The pure evil of some people and the power they have is appalling and probably more real than we would like to believe. The genetic engineering is very current with the times. You will enjoy the book as a stand alone, but do yourself a favor and read the first in the series as well.
4.5 thrilling and romantic stars!
Fast-paced, action-packed mystery/suspense story that is sexy, romantic and lots of fun, and wow, did it get my heart pumping! This series is a spin off to the Sin Brothers books, and is shaping up to be just as intense as the originals, and I’m loving the ride!
Heath Jones is one of a trio of ‘blood brothers’ who were genetically modified by a maniacal scientist for the purposes of creating ‘super soldiers’. Raised in a group home, the boys were ‘studied’ and tormented, but became closer than family and swore their lives to protect each other. They escaped as teenagers and have put their skills to use by creating an investigative agency – finding the lost and searching for the answers to their pasts all while remaining on the run and in hiding from the villainous scientist and her partner, a sheriff crazed with revenge.
Anya is a professor of criminal psychology, but her profession hits too close to home when she finds herself the target of a serial killer. When her FBI agent sister is taken and murdered by the Copper Killer, it sparks her into forcing some action, and she provokes the killer on national television, placing herself as bait to draw him out and dragging Heath into the picture.
By declaring them a couple to the world, Anya forces herself and Heath into a fake relationship, but also puts Heath and his brothers out into the open. And not only that, she makes herself a target for more than just the killer, with bad guys from the brothers’ past also hunting to bring the boys in, and Anya may be their key. It’s all happening, and it’s fantastically woven together as Heath and his brothers work to protect Anya, hunt for the killer and evade their enemies… all the while an amazing romance is unfolding.
“While I might not give you the full story, I’ll never lie to you. so here it is. I want you.”
Her eyebrows rose toward her hairline. Her breath quickened.
“And I think you want me.”
Now her chin lowered. She drew in air and slowly let it out. Her nipples hardened until he could see them beneath her shit. Clearly.
“I thought we should get that truth out of the way and decide what to do about it.”
Heath and Anya’s attraction is evident from the very beginning, and neither of them hide it. They acknowledge it, they talk about it, and when the sexual tension all becomes too much, they act on it. And hot damn! Rebecca Zanetti writes wonderfully steamy romance and the chemistry between Anya and Heath is palpable, and the sexy time is absolutely steamy! And best of all, they are open about what they want, and about what they are capable of, and I loved how functional they are!
“Last night was not fake. You and me, it was real.”
Every day they fall harder and harder for each other, and they both know that it’s happening, but Heath is determined to protect Anya by keeping his secrets, while she is determined to get him to completely open up to her. There are things that they need to sort through and work at, but there’s no stupid behaviour and game playing, and it works really well with the intensity of their situation as danger closes in from all angles.
“I promise I’ll protect you with everything I have and everything I am. No matter what, I’m yours.”
It’s such an exciting ride and I was madly flipping pages with a growing sense of anticipation as I was waiting for something big to happen. The story builds wonderfully to a thrilling climax that is scary, exciting, and full of surprises. The killer makes his move, the boys mobilise, the Grey brothers are on board to help, and Anya proves what a badass she is. And my heart was pounding as it all played out.
Adding to the awesome is the dynamics between the Jones brothers. These boys would do absolutely anything for each other, and that shows over and over again. They tease and joke, which is great fun, and their protectiveness of each other is gorgeous to see. I loved catching up with Ryker and Zara from the first book, and really enjoyed the tie in with the Grey brothers from the Sin Brothers series.
I loved this book. It’s a wonderfully intense romantic suspense, and a great addition to the Blood Brothers series, while adding more depth to the world of the Sin Brothers series. It’s everything that I love about Rebecca Zanetti’s writing – exciting, engaging, intriguing and passionately romantic. I know I’m always in for a great ride when I pick up one of her books, and this one was no exception. And with hints dropped for Denver’s story, I can’t wait to get my hands on the next book.
Fantastic – 4.5 stars.
Another spell-binding, thrilling, sizzling romance from Rebecca Zanetti! This is the second book in Miss Zanetti's addicting Blood Brother's series. This is Heath's story and I have to say I think I very well might be in love with Heath more than I was with Ryker. Heath is...caring and sweet and the way he can't seem to stop rescuing women or animals was beyond swoon worthy. Yet I found his inner....alpha side to be completely MIND BLOWING!
This story was a thrilling, suspenseful, heart-thumping ride with the kind of sizzling chemistry and smoldering passion you can ONLY get with a story from Rebecca Zanetti! Anya is my kind of heroine. Smart, beautiful, sweet, and of course, has her heart set on Heath. The battle of wills between these two at times caused me to squirm because as with any hero that Miss Zanetti writes, you know he is going to win in the BEST way possible and the woman will LOVE it. I freaking LOVE this series and already want the next one...like, yesterday!
Lethal Lies gets a BREATHTAKING FIVE SHOOTING STARS! Its sizzles, its always full of action and the sex...my god, the sex is unforgettable!
The Copper Killer is out there and is setting up Heath Jones for a fall. This plot is very convoluted. Heath and his brother have been hired to find the Copper Killer and in the process Anya Best becomes part of the process. I was surprise by who the killer was and how he had set everything up. Anya is at the heart of the story line. Her relationship with Heath becomes very complicated making the plot even more interesting. Heath is one of the three blood brother who are on the run but are preparing to take the battle to the enemy. This helps set up the next and final book in the series. This can stand alone but is better if read from the first book.
‘Lethal Lies’, like ‘Deadly Silence’, is a spin-off from the Sin-Brothers series, with some paranormal bits hinted at, though it takes more of a back seat as Rebecca Zanetti focuses instead on the suspense. In here, Heath Jones fights for his own happy ending with Anya Best after the Copper Killer puts her in his sights and kills her sister as collateral damage. Revenge and grief push Anya into setting herself up as bait for him, inadvertently involving Heath in this crazy plan as her fake fiancé. But Heath’s weakness is playing the protector when he sees women abused or chased down and soon enough, finds himself in an untenable position where his foes finally know where he and his brothers are hiding out.
With the opening scenes arranged in an order that wasn’t entirely linear (with some flashbacks written into them), I felt as though I was thrust into a middle of a situation without a grounding context and spent quite a while bewildered, like an outsider who couldn’t quite make sense of what was going on until partway through. Is this book good as a standalone? If Heath and Anya had a history, what exactly is it? What is Anya’s murdered sister connection with the brothers?
It was only after the facts settled that it became somewhat clearer. Anya’s gauntlet, thrown down so impulsively, isn't something that allows any secrets to be kept…and Heath and his merry band of brothers have a huge one that is compromised by her very public, naive trap-setting actions. Like the Sin-Brothers, there’s are foes out for Heath and the layers that help shield their business are all geared towards keeping them out of the public gaze which Anya has blown wide open. That bit intrigued me as it did in Zanetti’s previous series: the compound of elite, trained soldiers, genetically-modified and controlled by an evil doctor, though it isn’t emphasised at all here.
As far as suspense goes, ‘Lethal Lies’ was surprisingly slow-paced as we follow the story of how Anya and Heath get on drawing the killer out, with some steamy scenes thrown in as they give in to their mutual attraction. 50% into the book however, Heath/Anya are still on track (or rather, undercover) to become bait for the killer whose sights are on the latter, with several meetings with his brothers and an ex that refuses to go away as they spend too much time deciding if what lies between them is real or fake, in a to-and-fro that got frustrating. Several territory tussles between the brother and the FBI ensue, all of which seemed like red-herring fillers to bring the page count up but didn’t seem to add much to the developing action. I couldn’t quite decide if Anya’s insistence on her continued involvement was gullible or admirable though it was balanced at times by shots of maturity that didn’t deviate from her determination to avenge her sister. Heath on the other hand, was hard to unravel, apart from his inability to leave women in distress.
It did get better though, in the last 50 pages or so, when we’re finally set on the straight and narrow to getting the Copper Killer to appear. But his identity isn’t that much of a surprise and is more connected to the Sin-Brothers history than it is to Anya.
I’m left somewhat mixed on ‘Lethal Lies’, frankly. Yet there’s enough of their unresolved background and a foe still waiting in the wings that presumably, will lead to a showdown in the next book, which will probably keep me reading to the end.
Heath is an enhanced soldier hiding with his blood brothers, Ryker and Denver. They started the LOST BASTARDS DETECTIVE AGENCY. They have been on the run from the evil scientist and a bad cop. The cop wants them dead and the scientist wants to make more super soldiers.
Someone has been killing red headed women and sending the pictures to Anya, a psychologist professor, her sister an FBI agent sets herself up as bait and gets killed. Anya is devastated and goes on tv calling the Copper Killer out. She drags Heath into it by saying he's her fiancé and are going to Snowville to open up their agency. She is using herself as bait and Heath has a slight problem with women being in danger. As the killer gets closer, Heath and Anya realize their feelings for each other but he is always on the run and doesn't want that for Anya.
Sexy men. Nail biting suspense. Crazy doctors and a killer. I was totally shocked at the end. Blew me away! You have to read this book.
Lethal Lies is the second book in the Blood Brothers trilogy from Rebecca Zanetti. At heart this book is exactly the type of romance I love to read and the author built the suspense up perfectly to an explosive climax that had a few surprises that kept me on the edge of my seat.
This is a spinoff series from Rebecaa Zanettis's popular Sins Brothers that I loved so very much. I love this new trio of brothers, Ryker, Heath and Denver. They're not broken but they're incredibly damaged. I can't help but fall in love with them and find joy in their finding strong women to give them hope. It was Heath's turn in this book and he found the perfect woman with Anya. The sexual tension grew hotter as they hunt for the seriel killer who targeted Anya and murdered her sister. Rebecca Zanetti built the the intricasy of the mystery as Heath and Anya tried to outwit the killer while staying just ahead of evil Doctor Madison and her henchman Sheriff Cobb.
This book had action, mystery and passion aplenty. It also set up the third brother Denver for the next book. I can't wait for it.
There are just not enough fabulous words to describe this book and all the others by Zanetti other than buy, buy, buy! You'll want to make sure that you read the series before reading this and you won't regret it. Genetically enhanced soldiers, mystery, loyalty, action, and love. It's a page turner and you'll be sad when it ends.
I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
No one can twist a story into an action-packed ride like Zanetti can! From the moment you crack open her books, you are shrouded in a world of intrigue and chaos. Lethal Lies is a powerhouse culmination of intelligence, sexiness, intrigue, and power.
When Anya Best discovers that she is the main target of a serial killer, she decides that what she needs is Heath Jones to keep her safe; but most of all she needs him to bring this killer to justice. Heath has secrets of his own and is trying to keep Anya safe without exposing himself or his family of brothers. It’s becoming increasingly harder to do under such high profile coverage of police and media.
Lethal Lies is a high impact, adrenaline pumping ride to the finish. I didn’t see what was coming ‘til I was blind-sided with it. Another up-all-night read from Rebecca Zanetti!
