Really enjoyed this 2nd book in the Last Shot series. Kelly Jamieson has a way of grabbing your attention in her stories and carrying you along with her. Marco & Carrie's story is no different. They start out at odds with each other but things aren't always what they seem. Insecurities can cause sensible people to do ridiculous things, like applying for a scholarship to a school in Spain & hooking up with someone you know is leaving & that isn't what you want them to do. But we see the vulnerability in both Carrie & Marco as they navigate through their relationship that is thrust upon them by her troubled niece. Pretending to be together so the truth about her nieces misconduct doesn't get back to her sister is one thing but when they start to really care for each other that's something else. Neither is brave enough to admit the truth because neither believes they're worth it, they're blind to what everyone else sees. Definitely recommend this book.

God I love me a hunk of Navy Seal !!!! Even former as Marco is in this tale. Its his and Carrie's story. The couple meet through friends and first impressions are not all that stellar. They give a tentative friendship a try and that's when the real sparks start to fly !!!
Well written, believable story line and enjoyable character development. It was a solid, romantic - acquaintances turn inseparable true lovers story.
5 Hot Stars from Me xx
Well done Kelly and many thanks for this opportunity x
Later peeps xx
So much fun! I really enjoyed Marco and Carrie - they were both dealing with their own insecurities but still supporting each other while falling in love :) I'd missed the first in this series, so this was my introduction to these characters and their group of friends... great cast of people! Definitely going to look for Beck and Haydens story. Two (three?) points about the plot: Can parents really be separated from their children when deported from the US? Is that a real thing? Horrifying, if true. Also - no to the bullfighting. Scene was unnecessary and really tarnished the feel-good vibe of the book. Lastly, Hayden describes a sex position (pretzel?) as doggie style but facing each other. I spent an inordinate amount of time trying to work out the logistics there. I think, by definition, doggy-style is from behind.. so?
Otherwise fab!

Hot Shot is the second book in Kelly Jamieson's Last Shot series and it was a great one! While this book can be read as a standalone, I think you connect more to the characters having read the first book in the series since the main characters, and the principle supporting characters were all in Body Shot.
Marco Solis is one of the three former Navy SEALs that owns Conquistador, a hip tequila bar. Unfortunately for Marco, all he's ever known in his life when it comes to relationships is that they end in loss. His parents were deported when he was fourteen and he and his sister were both put into foster care with her being adopted and him losing touch with her. Couple that with his ex-fiancee marrying someone else while he was deployed and it leaves little room for warm fuzzy feelings where relationships are concerned.
Carries Garner is a model who has always had a bit of a quirky side. She loves photography and while both her modeling and her photography provide a living for her, it's never lived up to what she feels her family expects from her. In order to continue pursuing her passion for photography, she is heading to Spain on a photography grant.
When Marco and Carrie come together to plan an engagement party for their friends Beck and Hayden, will these two people that seemingly can't get along figure out that maybe they have more in common than they realize? Will they figure out that outward appearances might not really tell the story about what is happening in someone else's life?
This was a great story about friendship, love, forgiveness and acceptance. Relationships are hard and I felt like Kelly Jamieson did a fantastic job weaving a story that navigated the landscapes of many different relationships and how each person's perspective can reflect differently upon them. I would highly recommend this book and I can't wait for the third one in the series to come out!
Marco Solis knows better than to get close to anyone. Especially someone like Carrie Garner, his best friend's fiancé's best friend and completely out of his league supermodel. But he can't help how he feels when he is around her. She is sassy, smart and beautiful. Her smile lights up the room and she knows just how to turn his temperature up. Too bad they would never work. Carrie is aware of her quickly ending career. In the fashion world younger faces are money and she isn't a spring chicken anymore. No matter, her dream was never to be a supermodel, even if she is a successful one. What she really wants is to take pictures and to make her family proud. Full of insecurities, she still bristles at being called beautiful. But somehow when Marco says it, it sounds real. Planning a career change, Carrie gets into a photography school in Spain. But the thought of actually leaving her best friend and family behind twists her up inside. Forced to plan an engagement party for Hayden and Beck, Carrie finds herself spending more and more time with the hot Mexican SEAL who is bossy, brooding and sexy as hell. And the more time they spend together, the more a sexy fling with him sounds like an excellent idea. But can their insecurities be put aside for love to blossom? Carrie and Marco's story is hot, intense and with enough laughter to make it a delicious read. Grandma Gardner is a riot and Marco's best friends and partners are perfect. Too bad Marco's sister doesn't make an appearance… I'd love to know whatever happened to her…
Even though I enjoyed reading this book, it would not list near the top as one of my favorites. The story of Marco and Carrie was an okay story. I just didn't care for Marco that much. I also found the book had way too much foul language with too many "F" words. I like more romance instead of just too many detailed sex scenes. I'm not say this is a bad book, it just doesn't suit my taste in a romance book.
Nice addition to the the LastShot storyline with Marco and Carrie. I love how we see that Carrie may be beautiful but she is not comfortable in her own skin and knows her own limitations. Marco is vulnerable yet gives off the vibe or being a sarcastic ass. I loved the fireworks between the two and the snark is strong, as well as the sweet.
After their best friends fall in love, Marco and Carrie both mistake their own sexual tension for intense dislike. Although an undeniable undercurrent of attraction runs through all of their interactions, neither one is willing to admit to anything less than hatred toward the other. When they’re forced together to plan a party for their mutual friends, sparks begin to fly.
Overall, I really liked this book, a lot more than I liked the first book in the series. I felt like we ended up knowing much more about Marco than we did about Carrie, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Marco’s past and insecurities were much better developed than Carrie’s, and although I can sort of see where Carrie’s issues stem from, I wouldn’t have minded learning more about her.
I loved the attraction between Marco and Carrie, and the fact that they only went for it because they thought it had a time limit. Carrie has a trip to Spain scheduled a few weeks after they get together, which provides an easy out, a quick timeline, and protection from any broken hearts. (Or so they think. This is a romance, there are always going to be hurt feelings!)
I don’t have a ton of things to say about this book except that I thought that everybody was really unfair to Carrie. I don’t want to spoil anything, but we find out right away that Carrie has a trip to Spain scheduled, and everybody has an opinion about it. It’s her life, and if she wants to travel and make something of herself, she should be allowed to do that without worrying about what her newlywed best friend, her emotionally distant family, and her brand new lover think. As someone who has let other peoples’ opinions dictate much of my life decisions, I am very passionate about this, and it probably did affect my opinion of the book. (Although four stars is a very good rating for me.)
I really love the group of characters in this series, and I wish their tequila bar was a place I could actually go. I’m excited to see if Cade will get his own book since I would love to see him settle down and be happy.

I was given the opportunity to read this book before publishing. This is the second book in the series, and is best to confess I didn’t read the first one. I didn’t feel like I needed to read it, Beck and Hayden weren’t that appealing for me and with the information that was given was enough. The book had promise, sadly it didn’t work for me. I will discuss two points that bothered me, but I don’t know if they would be considered Spoilers…so be aware.
Marco, I thought I was going to relate to him since I’m descendent from Mexicans but I just couldn’t like him enough to fall fictionally in love with him. The issue with his sister? Why was that introduced if it wasn’t going to be resolved? To show why he was so closed up? In my opinion that was poorly executed. In every chapter I kept hoping he would finally do something about it and hire an investigator and put that to rest. But no, secrets, and more secrets.
Carrie, well, I tried to like her. She is a model and has so many self-esteem issues that mine are nothing. She questioned everything, every feeling, every thought, it was exhausting to be in her head. The thing about her photography course, what was that about? It was only 9 months! Her friends were acting as if she was never coming back. She was giving up that opportunity because she didn’t want to hurt her family, friends and Marco? I guess I’m jaded enough to know now that 9 months are nothing and that doing something for you comes first and your family, friends and lover should encourage you to do what you love. Even if she applied for that course due to her self-esteem issues, at the end of the 9 months she would have had experience nobody will give her for free.
Overall, I liked what the author was trying to do, I just wish it had been better executed.
Kelly Jamison' s books leave you with a big dopey grin on your face. Her romances are sweet, sexy and more importantly smart. They make sense, have some meat to them and human interest. They are about relationships and not just the male and female character. The characters are people you want to know and their stories are relatable. I loved Marco and Carrie and I think her readers will too.
Marco and Carrie know about each other through their best friend's. Marco and Beck own a tequila bar. Beck and Hayden have gotten engaged. So the two of them decide to throw an engagement party for them. Working together, thinking they hate each other, when in reality, they are trying to keep the chemistry at bay. A fun story!
Like every other Kelly Jamieson book I have ever read, this one was so good!! If you read the first book in the series you remember Marco, a former SEAL, and Carrie, best friend of Hayden. I remember reading the first book and wondering if these two, who always seemed to rub each other the wrong way, would end up together. No one has ever stuck around for Marco, except his SEAL brothers. Carrie is a model who nearing the end of her modeling days is going to Spain to develop her passion for photography. But all their fighting with each other leads to some explosive sexual chemistry. So they decide to enjoy themselves until it is time for her to leave. What happens when feelings start to develop? Is Marco destined to have everyone he loves leave?

Kelly Jamieson continues the Last Shot series in “Hot Shot,” the follow up to last year’s “Body Shot.” The story arc centers around three Navy SEALs who leave the service and buy a struggling bar they are determined to turn into a San Diego hot spot.
We met h/H Carrie and Marco in the previous book. They seemed to share a mutual distrust and hostility, so we probably could guess their story would be next. She’s a beautiful airhead; he’s a macho jerk. But it turns out we didn’t know them at all as they both turn out to be people with a lot more depth—in unexpected ways—than the couple we thought we knew. Jamieson depicts this transformation subtlety and convincingly.
By times romantic, ribald, sad and funny, “Hot Shot” pushes a lot of buttons for “just a romance novel.” Especially enjoyable is the part Carrie’s multi-generational family plays. They exist, not just as quirky one-offs to make us chuckle, but as well-drawn characters that frequently drive the plot. They are eccentric in a way that doesn’t make the reader wince, as in novels where weird family members drift in and out to show how crazy they are and how understanding/loyal the protagonists are. But it’s Marco’s interaction with them—a man with no family of his own-- that surprises and enlightens.
Throughout the book, there’s an underlying urgency as Carrie is planning a big move that won’t include Marco. They get their HEA but Jamieson keeps the tension going until then.
With the bar’s ongoing issues and some lingering mysteries, we are nicely set up for Cade’s story.
Highly recommended.

The main premise of Hot Shot was an enemies to lovers read, however, this was just a small aspect of the story and for me what I really loved about it was both main characters were outwardly confident yet, inwardly they were both very much insecure within themselves.
Hot Shot was a nice enjoyable read. The characters were multi layered and likeable, their chemistry is believable and they are supported by rich secondary characters. Hot Shot was sweet and sexy with some humour thrown in.
Overall, this was a nice easy read and I'm looking forward to the next book in this series - 3.5 stars
N.B While this is the second book in the Last Shot Series, it can most certainly be read as a stand alone.
I was provided with a copy of this book from the Publisher via NetGalley; there was no inducement or obligaiton.
This was my first Kelly jamieson book and I absolutely loved it! Marco and Carrie were thrown together die to their best friends being a couple. There is tension between the two from the beginning and are both dealing with self-doubt and the feeling of unworthiness. They must overcome their own insecurities to find their happily ever after!
I loved this second installment in the Last Shot series, it is an awesome story about family, friendship, love and acceptance. Marco & Carrie are an incredibly relatable couple that you find yourself rooting for from the beginning. They have pretty much a hate/love relationship at first where they pretty much misunderstand what is really going on between them. The character development of these two and the relationships they have with each other and the other characters in the book is just phenomenal as it always is in Kelly's books. They are extremely likeable and relatable as they are not without flaws and self doubt just like most people.
Marco is the Hot Shot. He is a gorgeous, sexy and amazing man, yet because of events in his past, he does not really feel like the great catch that he is. Even though he is a former Navy SEAL and now owns a pretty successful bar with his two best friends, Beck & Cade, who were also his SEAL teammates, he does not think he is deserving of a certain beauty he has had his eye on from the moment they met.
Carrie is Beck's fiancee Hayden's best friend and the current object of Marco's desire. He flirts with her constantly but she is not having it. She is as beautiful on the inside as she is on the outside. She is a model but feels as though that is so not the real her. Her true passion is in photography and she is really good at it. She is sweet, funny and compassionate.
They are forced to spend time together to plan Beck and Hayden's engagement party and their attraction simmers and blooms. They find out they are so much more than a Hot Shot and a Supermodel.
Another awesome 5 star read!!!
Will post reviews on Amazon, B&N and ibooks on release day for now it is on Goodreads.
I loved this book! Kelly wrote an amazing story that I read in one sitting, I could not put it down. Very well written, I really cared about the characters, the plot held my attention. I highly recommend this book and would purchase as a gift.
**I received a copy of Hot Shot from Random House-Love swept and Net Galley in exchange for a voluntary and honest review**
Hot Shot by Kelly Jamieson is the second book in her Last Shot series. Since I've read the first book I knew the major characters but I believe it can be read as a stand alone but if you can I'd read the first book prior to Hot Shot.
Marco Solis has always longed for a family and he's found it with the opening of The Conquistadors Tequila Bar with two of his former Navy SEAL buddies Cade and Beck. But now that Beck and Hayden are getting married he sort of feels left out. When Hayden's best friend, Carrie Garner comes into the bar (who has been avoiding his advances) he wonders if he could convince her to look his way. But Carrie who is a model and has self esteem issues, so it takes a night out with Beck and Hayden dancing for Marco to convince her. He approaches Carrie with the idea of an engagement party with games that will lead them to each others arms.
Carrie Garner has always felt as if her family was disappointed in her choice of being a model as her career. But her side passion of photography has all of a sudden taken off with her photos selling at a local San Diego art gallery. When she applies for a photography school in Spain and is accepted, she's excited. But as the passion heats up between Marco and herself, she wonders if its really what she wants to do because her modeling career is coming to an end. When she finds out her niece has started hanging with the wrong crowd of artists that she comes up with an idea that will benefit her niece and other teens in the city.
Can both Carrie and Marco get beyond their insecurities and find out if their new attraction for each other is enough for a lifetime? Will Marco finally find the family he craves? I loved Carrie's grandma who was a hoot with her former dance career and unfiltered comments! I loved Hot Shot as much as the first book and highly recommend reading it.
OMG!!! I laughed, I cried and needed a cold shower and cigarette ( if I smoked ). I felt like I was right there with them feeling their pain and happiness. This is the 2nd in this series and I cannot wait for Cade's story.
Carrie is from a family of overachievers and she is a model. She really wants to be a photographer and gets a scholarship to a school in Spain for nine months. Her best friend Hayden is marrying Beck, one of the owners of the tequila bar, they met at. Beck's friend Marco asks Carrie for help with a surprise engagement party.
Marco is a former SEAL, partner with Beck and Cade in the bar, and has abandonment issues. His parents were deported and he and his sister was put in foster care. She was adopted and he lost track of her. He is gorgeous, moody, and has some insecurities.
Marco and Carrie have to put their differences aside and plan this party. But the more time they spend together, the more the attraction grows. So Marco suggests they have a no strings affair until she leaves in two months. What they don't expect is to fall for each other. Carrie must decide to go to Spain or stay with the man she has falling in love with.

Kelly Jamieson, what a great book! The characters seem so real, with the everyday problems and insecurities that so many of us have. The story line keeps you interested from the start & keeps you rooting for Marco & Cassie! The sex is hot!!! My only question is...where can I find a Marco for me?
