Such a nice fun read that I definitely needed right now. So glad I was given the opportunity to read this book. Can’t wait to see what the author brings out next.

Secrets of a reluctant princess is a perfect coming of age book that contains all the things young teenagers love. It also identifies the dangers of social media and paints them in a light that will get the reader thinking about the consequences of their social media footprint.
Highly recommended to young teenage readers

Adrianna's parents own a big business named Bathroom Barons and her dad has created a new bathroom invention that has gotten the attenti9 of a TV producer and wants to make their life into a show. But Adrianna moved from her last school in Seattle because she was being bullied. Soon, Adrianna is sucked into this worldwind world of camera, TV shows, fake friends and learns things about herself that she didn't know. She avoids speaking up for what is right that it eventually makes her lose everything that she likes and loves such as: LARPING, Harper and Kevin (so doggone sweet) instead of hiding behind a mask and deciding which girl she wants to be. I loved the lessons learned from this book and the development that Andy had to go through.

This was a read with a slow beginning for me. But I kept up with it and ended up thoroughly enjoying it!

Secrets of a Reluctant Princess by Casey Griffin was an interesting read for me. I found myself not being super interested in the story. I found Andy being super frustrating and annoying. The one thing that is good about Andy is that she does grow up a bit through out the story. Ultimately, I found this book to be over dramatic. It was hard to stay focused on the story. I was really expecting a fun, cute, and light read and that isn't what I got at all.

5 Words: Family, fame, friendship, fun, frolics.

Oh look. Alliteration. This book deserved it, it was fab.

I knew as soon as I started this book that I was going to like it. I was looking for something fun, something to lift my spirits and make me laugh... And that's exactly what I got!

I loved Andy, how she didn't want what was being thrust upon her, how she was actually a huge geek. As much as Andy is incredibly different from me, I felt that I could actually relate to her. Probably the geekiness. She was almost a different person when she was LARP-ing and it was fab.

I liked how the film crew added a whole other element to every relationship, how no one was sure who was being real and who was in it for the fame.

What I didn't like was Andy's parents - but I did like was how their awful actions (and lack of) contributed to the story. I think this is something that may put other people off, but I forgave it because of how it contributed to the overall story.

This is a fun and flirty read that doesn't take itself seriously. It's perfect for rainy days or when you need cheering up.

Oh boy, I actually had a hard time rating this. But I think a 2 is the best way to rate this. I LOVED the beginning of the story, the middle part lost me a bit, there were only a few moments that I really enjoyed, the end of the story brought me back a bit.

Let's talk about the things that I loved.
I loved Andy as a main character. Boy, she was frustrating at time and she made terrible decisions. But she learned, she grew. And I was really rooting for her to get back on track, remember what's important and stop hiding behind all the characters that she was playing in her daily life.

I loved the other characters, like Harper, I was unsure of her in the beginning, or rather about her role in the book. But she was amazing and I really loved her friendship with Andy, even though it got rocky but they made it. I loved Kevin. And his sister. And his uncle. They just did their thing. They were themselved no matter what other people thought.

I also loved the larping (live action role playing) parts. I have never heard of that before in my life. But that was such an amazing part to the story, that I just really thought was interesting and so greatly done.

Things that I didn't like.
Things were getting overdramatic at times. I get it. Not only was this a story mainly set in a highschool but there was also the element of a reality tv show. The combination of the two calls for lots of drama. But it was just too much for me at times.

Corbin. The director of the show. I just. I can't put into words how I hate people like him. Bringing me straight to the next person that I hate with a burning passion. Lennox. The brainless jock. Harper's ex boyfriend. The guy that does everything to get screentime on the reality show, forcing a relationship on Andy, that she doesn't want. But all is forgiven at the end, because Corbin told him, that it was part of the show and Andy just acted like she didn't want it. WHAT?! This is making me mad for so many reasons that this whole thing just made me rate the book so low. Cause that was wrong. That was wrong on so many levels. And it's especially wrong to have Harper end up with him again. IT'S WRONG.

I thought this would be a fun and cute read, but except for a few moments, I just really struggled and parts of it, mainly the parts with Lennox, made me really REALLY uncomfortable.

Mini review:

I received this E-ARC via Netgalley and Entangled: Teen in exchange for an honest review. I had heard about this book through GR. It sounded good so I requested it from Netgalley.

Honestly I don't remember much about this book. It's been awhile since I've read it. I remember liking it. The reality show aspect was seriously over done and boring. It was dramatic. I liked the MC and the friend she made. I didn't really like the main guy or the ex of her friend. There were some important topics in the book that were handled well. The miscommunication between the characters was silly. And I honestly don't understand how no one (expect for her parents) believed the MC.

I would recommend this if you're looking for a quick and cute read.

I didn’t really know much about this book going into it except that it followed a girl named Adrianna who was pretending to be someone who she wasn’t and then LARPed on the weekend. The LARPing is what hooked me, I’ve never LARPed myself but have found myself intrigued by it on more than one occasion. Plus, I had never read a book that had a LARPing aspect in it. Almost immediately into the book you realize that one of the reasons Adrianna isn’t being herself is because she was uprooted from her previous life of Andy the geeky Bottom’s Bathrooms girl who would get picked on all the time and transported into this new “glamourous” life of fame and fortune. She is the newest reality tv star and with that comes many problems. I felt bad for Adrianna/Andy throughout the book, while she does admit some of the things that happened are things she could have easily prevented there was no way for her to predict some of the things. Also…Kevin, I liked Kevin. The LARPing parts of the book really drew me in and now I kind of want to go out and try it myself one day.

I give this book a 4 out of 5 stars.

This book was a fun romp that I honestly didn't expect to enjoy as much as I did, but I was oh so delighted with how absolutely wonderful this book was! I loved the characters and the plot - the overall theme flowed nicely.

Instead of reluctant Princess Porcelain a.k.a Adriana I am the one being reluctant, right now. It's not that I hate this book and not really love it but it just in natural state.

So, the story is about Adriana, an ordinary girl who lives in Seattle but after her dad's toilet's business got hit and they eventually became one of the richest family live in Beverly Hills. Adriana, she is being bullied in her old school because of her father's toilet business but when she moves to a new school she's receive a lot attention because of her popularity and she make a lot of friends which she isn't sure whether they are real friend or pretending one. Anyways, she is more to geek, comic stuff and she having so much fun joining Larping (Life-action-role-playing) which I thought it super cool as I haven't had any chance here in my country and became so close to Kevin.

The story line from the start was a bit complicated to understand and it kind of slow but it is interesting to know what happen next, will the reality show going to stay and what happened to her relationship with Kevin, Harper, Lennox and her Larping's friends. It does have a spark to make me stay to read Secrets of A Reluctant Princess.

Adriana/Andy her character is teenage girl who is so not confident with her self and afraid to stand at her own feet. She is so reluctant to what step should she takes next? She's been hiding too much and this has make me mad at her more than loving her character. She is so annoying that I just want to shout at her to please be yourself and be confident!

While Kevin, he is fast to jump into a conclusion without want to asking it at the first place and didn't even mind to ear an explanation.

So far, I do enjoy reading it but kind of frustrating me in some way too.

Adrianna's move to Beverly Hills and her family's newfound money definitely created some conflict, considering her true self is very nerdy and NOT the kind of person who'd be on a reality show. She did her best to survive at Beverly Hills High, but of course sacrificed herself to get there.

This book was mostly ridiculous. I think it gave in to a lot of the tropes I was hoping it would avoid, so that was really disappointing. This read like a really bad teen movie where every absurd thing that could happen DID happen. I was constantly on edge because there was so much shit that could hit the fan in any given moment. There were too many events and secrets that happened that made me roll my eyes so far back into my head. A lot of predictability, where you know all the terrible things will happen at once. There was an ABSURD amount of lying, hiding, miscommunication, lack of communication, jumping to conclusions...

I know that I've been out of high school for so many years now, but from what I remember? This representation was pretty cliche and straight out of the early 2000s cheesy movie, like I mentioned. I know that obviously (unfortunately) kids are still bullied and teased for being nerds or having certain interests, but it all felt very forced to me.

I liked the LARPing. The romance was decent at times. The friendship was pretty good, once things were sorted out. I just genuinely didn't enjoy reading this one. I was cringing 90% of the time.

If you are a fan of The Princess Diaries, this is a fun twist. Except instead of being a real princess, Adrianna is the princess spokes model for her dad's bathroom business. A princess with a plunger, if you will. Which also lands her on a reality TV show with her family. Cool, except the fact that it's completely embarrassing to pose on a toilet in a princess dress.

The thing I loved most about this book is that Adrianna is into larping (think live-action dungeons and dragons), sewing medieval clothing for role play games, etc. It made her so interesting. I also loved her love-interest Kevin, who is an artist and also into larping. Their chemistry was gripping, adorable, and yet completely frustrating at the same time because of all the obstacles that seem destined to keep them apart.

Casey Griffin's writing was fun, light, and kept me reading straight to the end.

I did have one hang up. Remember how I said if you liked The Princess Diaries, you would enjoy this? There is a possibility that that may also be the reason that you won't like this novel. For me, it was too similar. It seemed to follow the same story line, just with different characters filling the roles. There was a lot to like, but I couldn't get over how alike the two were.

Therefore, I will need to give Secrets of a Reluctant Princess 3.5 out of 5 stars.

A cute story, though it does stretch the boundaries of credibility a few times:)

Andy, Kevin, Keelie, and Harper are all fun characters, and easy to root for even when you're questioning the choices they (okay, mostly Andy) are making. The live action role playing aspects were fun, and almost made me want to try it myself. I really liked how the author used both larp and Andy's other talents to help her create a path to her own HEA; it was a nice touch.

My first book from Ms.Griffin; I'll definitely be keeping an eye out for more from her in the future!

Rating: 4 stars / B

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

Porcelain Princess is a funny, cute take on the otherwise typical “bait and switch” romance trope. Anyone can identify with Andy – the new girl that is trying to find her place in life. It was a pleasure to watch Andy grow throughout the story and other readers will enjoy watching her too. This goes outside the basic YA romance and has a unique storyline involving reality TV shows and live action role playing (aka LARPing) - similar to that of the movie Role Models.

This would appeal to anyone that likes Meg Cabot or Stephanie Perkins. It has the right amount of humor, hijinks and romance. You will not only be kept entertained but you’ll find yourself smiling throughout.

This book was short and fun. Although Andy the main character annoyed me at times. Because she believed being popular was worth more then being herself and being friends with Kevin.
But I understand why she went along with it and being on a reality tv show cause of her dad's invention.
I believe this book was about finding out who your real friends are and where you belong. And for Andy she had to go through a lot of crazy things before realizing that. However will her true friends trust her again in the end? Will Kevin want to get to know the real Andy? Or will Andy forever be hiding her true self from her fake friends and family?
