I received an Advance Reader Copy from the publisher via NetGalley. This in no way impacted on my view.

In Operation Prom Date, Kate is known for shipping all sorts of people together: fictional, real, you name it. But, the couple she ships most in life is herself with the Quarterback, Mick, which seems like it will never come to fruition. When her old friend Cooper appears to become popular overnight, she enlists his help to work on her flirting skills, to try and bag Mick for the prom before it is too late. To get Cooper on side, she agrees to help him train for rowing, his main love, as his partner is injured and can't practice with him. However, this all seems to backfire on Cooper, as the more time he spends with Kate, the more he remembers how much he enjoyed her friendship, and finds himself getting jealous about the idea of Kate getting with someone who isn't him.

This book didn't have much of a plot to it, but it didn't need it. All of the focus was on Kate and Cooper, and the more time they were together, the more the chemistry was developing, and we could see them falling for each other as the pages went by. Having an old connection and friendship to fall back on, it was natural for the progression from friends to more to take place, and the way in which both fell and realised their feelings for one another was dead cute. The alternating chapters from Kate and Cooper's points of view helped us to see how they were falling for each other, and how much they respected and cared for the other. All in all, this was a book that was the perfect friends-to-lovers style romance, quick, easy, and enjoyable.

This book is so enjoyable. The things we will all do at one point to get our crush to notice us.

For Kate it's helping Cooper out with rowing. Because Cooper knows she is great at it. The deal is Kate helps him out with this and he gets the jock to notice her.

But with all the time they are spending together it makes them remember their old friendship and more.

Cooper doesn't want to help Kate with that deal. Because he is falling for her himself. Can they both see that they are made for each other??

Check this book out to have some laughs, a quick read and just a great read.

This book has a very Pretty in Pink feel to it with maybe a little bit of Sixteen Candles mixed in there. It definitely has a John Hughes feel to it and I could totally see it as a movie.

What happens when the guy that you like isn’t the guy you are meant to end up with? What happens when the guy helping you get the guy you want becomes so much more? What happens when you have two guys to choose between as a prom date? This is the dilemma Kate has thrust upon her. But are Cooper’s feelings a shock to him as well?

Wow, I flew through this book. Such a great read. I have been in a slight reading slump and this book began to pull me out of that slump. I adored the plot and the characters. The authors writing style is just amazing. I honestly didn’t have a single issue with this book. I absolutely adored it.

I will be keeping my eyes open for more books by this amazing author. I hope all of her books have that same Hughes-esk feel to them because it has made for an amazing book.

This was a quick read for me... A cute YA story. A high school girl who plans to go with the quarterback to prom. Like I said. Cute. Light. Fluffy.

I would first like to thank Chapter by Chapter Blog Tours for including me in the tour and providing me with a copy of the novel in exchange for a review! Crush Books always has such cute novels, and this was no exception! I absolutely loved this novel and everything about it - the characters were adorable and I loved the relationships that developed throughout the story. Kate, our protagonist, enlists the help of her friend Cooper in order to snag football star Mick Pecker as her prom date - what could go wrong? I fell in love with Kate and Cooper and their plan, but loved their friendship even more. They had such a pure relationship and worked so well together, and I was so happy with the ending of the novel. The novel read so well and smooth, and all of the TV and book references throughout the novel was so nice to see as a fellow fangirl. Our protagonist's initial crush, Mick, first appears to be the classic high school football player trope, but surprises us at the end of the novel and slowly throughout the story. I really enjoyed how Kate's past friendships with others were repaired, and the author did a fantastic job of piecing everything together. I have always been a fan of cute Rom-Com novels, and Crush Books seems to always deliver. I highly recommend this novel to fans of The Bad Boy Bargain and Life After Juliet.

First thing I saw about the book was the author's name. In the past I have loved her books, so I was ready to read this one too and was hoping it will be as good as the others. Read on to know what I think about the book!

I read YA contemporary romance when I need something which would be light and fun. This one just hit the spot with its slight humour and squealing moments. I loved the protagonists. They are so much fun with their antics in their quest of getting Kate paired with the quarterback. They are so sweet and cute!

Kate and Cooper are both smart, witty and add lots of character to the story. Without them, there wouldn't be a good book to enjoy. Kate seems guileless inspite of her plan and I loved her attempts to snag his attention while Cooper adds the much needed romance intrigue as they fall in love with each slowly while their attention is focused on something else.

The romance part was nicely done and I was relieved that it didn't much teenage angst. One thing I really love about YA romance is the light and fluffy and floating happy sensation I have when I read a good book. The author delivered again for me except for one small detail. It felt a bit slow at certain parts. It could have speeded up a bit.

All in all, it was a right good fluffy light romance with feel good vibes.

I received a copy for reviewing purposes.

My one line review : A cute and light fluffy romance with feel good vibes

My rating : 4/5

My reread factor : 4/5

This was a YA romance story between Kate, a quite dorky sort of girl and Cooper a rowing God, and a plan Kate has to go with a quarterback to prom. I liked Kate and Cooper, and it was a good YA books where the main characters both slowly fell in love with each other without even realising it.
It was all quite predictable as a lot of YA is, but sometimes you need a break from other types of romance stories to bring you back to earth in a sweet way. This was still an enjoyable story, although the pace was a bit slow. We also got alternating points of view, and a very hot first kiss! Ahhhh to be young again.

In an Oyster Shell – I loved, loved, loved this book! It was sweet and romantic with a really great ending.

The Pearls – Operation Prom Date was interesting in concept. You knew it was doomed to fail because one guy helping a girl get another guy? That’s not going to work out, but the process of how the narrative played out was still enjoyable though a little bit predictable. Sometimes being predictable is nice. I enjoyed it! The story itself was just great and sweet.

What made this story so great was the characters. You have Kate who is a bit whimsical in her quirkiness and Cooper who is serious about rowing. They make a great compliment to each other. The supporting characters helped the chemistry between Cooper and Kate. From Cooper’s mom to Mick all the characters have a play in the ultimate goal which is Cooper getting closer to Kate.

The ending was Sixteen Candles good. Sixteen Candles being one of my ultimate favorite chic-flick this is high praise. The ending couldn’t have been any more perfect. It left me swooning! Which ultimately led me to loving this book.

The Sand – This book couldn’t be more perfect!

Operation Prom Date is a fun, sweet read and will have you thinking about Prom. I enjoyed all the shipping in Operation Prom Date. I know I must have been smiling while reading. I liked Kate and Cooper both. I definitely thought they were a OTP. I'm hoping that I'll be able to catch more Cindi Madsen reads.

3.5 Stars

Operation Prom Date is a really cute YA read. Cindi really knows how to take you back to your high school days and feel like you are right there again.

This book is told from both Kate and Cooper's POVs and it's really interesting to see a book from a male's POV in a YA. And both characters are so realistic. I find myself being endeared to them both.

Kate is math nerd and has a slight obsession with TV shows and "shipping" those couples (read it find out what I mean). Kate was the new girl to the school a few years back and now that the newnesss has worn off, she really has no true friends in her life. And now she is hoping to get the school's quarterback to not only show interest in her, but take her to school prom. And this is where Copper comes in to play.

Cooper used to be the astrology nerd but has now morphed into this hot rowing guy. He's needs a temporary rowing partner while his is on the mend. Kate is willing to help him with his rowing practice in exchange for his help in getting the quarterback to ask her to prom.

Watching these two form an amazing friendship that eventually turns in to more is very sweet. While there are times I found the book to be moving at a slower pace than I prefer, I enjoyed the story.

Overall, the book is a sweet and enjoyable read. Kate and Copper will easily win your heart over.

*~.Book Analysis.~*
Just remembering that those were my impressions and opinion as a reader :)

Operation Prom Date is one of those cozy and lovely YA romances full of all the things we all love: love for geekiness, TV shows, books, ships and, in my case, the water. Cooper was so awesome as a guy and Kate was so real as a girl that I wanted to scream and hug my e-reader in crisis of pure fangirling, haha! I totally ship Coote <3 <3 Operation Prom Date is full of the greatest challenges we face in high school and it’s here to prove that, sometimes, the answers aren’t just simple: they literally hang out with you every day. FIVE FULL STARS.

The narrative style is first person with switching points of view between Kate and Cooper. Yet again, I must compliment an author for the narrative choice, even not being my standard favorite. Cindi rocked Kate and Cooper, creating two people so different, with voices of their own in all the little things, that I didn’t need the labels in the chapters anymore after a certain time. Her writing style is also out of this world, because she makes the story flows so easily! I’ve particularly read Operation Prom Date (OPD from now on) in one sitting, as I didn’t feel time passing at all! =O

As you’d expect from a YA light romance, we have the main problem (aka. drag Mick Pecker to Prom), but it’s nothing out of this world. Don’t go to this book expecting big twists, surprises or anything, because OPD is not about that. It’s a contemporary teen romance full of everyday problems and those, for me, are the hardest to solve.

The character construction, in my humble opinion, is the biiiig highlight in OPD. Kate and Cooper are so solid and real in their imperfections that I can picture walking along those two in a school hallway. The secondary characters weren’t left behind and I found myself biased with Kate’s mother and with Cooper’s rowing mate, Jaden. They were just brilliant, haha!

Another point I must highlight is how well-done the fangirling is on OPD. Cindi didn’t push it, but all our favorite shows are there: Arrow, Game of Thrones, The Vampire Diaries, The Originals, Once Upon a Time… I particularly love ALL THOSE SHOWS. I don’t particularly ship the same couples, as I have an awful tendencies to ship majorly homosexual couples for a reason my therapist never found out why and I gave up hope too, but it was so nice to see a “real” girl out there, with all the binge watching, the reading, the funkos and the passion for the lake. Kate and I could have been soul mates if it wasn’t for Klaus – I’m dead scared of any kind of lizard, unfortunately :(

And now, the most expected moment of the review nope: QUOTES TIME! Because nothing quite sells the book as itself, right? ;)

I was a bit of a math nerd, but I tried to keep it on the down low. I was actually pretty proud Cooper didn’t know that about me already. Although, like Oliver Queen on Arrow, people found out my secret at an alarming rate. Pretty soon all of Starling City – er, Auburun – would know. – Kate’s thoughts

I’d never lived cliffhangers, not on my TV shows, not in books – especially when the sequel’s release date was months to years away – and definitely not in my real-world conversations. – Kate’s thoughts

I was staring to hate myself for thinking this would work – I mean, it had worked. So I guess I mostly hated myself for being successful. – Cooper’s thoughts

Cooper might act like knitting wasn’t cool, but just wait until he had a warm hat to put on after a cold day of rowing next fall. Then he’d be thanking me. – Kate’s thoughts

And those killer dialogues:

Cooper: I’m down for a movie. But I get to choose it.
Kate: Giving out movie choosing privileges isn’t something I do lightly.
Cooper: Well, I don’t hang out with the Mother of Dragons lightly. Especially when the dragon’s been giving me dirty looks for the past five minutes.

Kate: Hey! Have I ever told you that you have boundary issues?
Cooper: You are in my room, wearing my clothes, making me stalk a guy on my laptop. Let’s not get into boundary issues.

*~.Cover Analysis.~*
The cover is delightfully beautiful and do illustrate well the theme of the book, bring out all the lightness of the story with the bright and happy candy colors, combined with the informal fonts chosen for the writings. All is perfect, but for one thing: this pink dress has nothing to do with Kate – the dress she chose is essentially nude colored. Just saying.

Overall, if you love well written YA, funny characters, light romances and fangirling, Operation Prom Date MUST BE your next read! Thank you so much for reading and, once again, thank you to Chapter by Chapter for my review copy <3

Operation Prom Date tells the story of Kate and Cooper. Kate is in love with a popular quarterback, named Mick, and wants to go with him to prom. And because Cooper doesn't have a rowing partner, he helps Kate with Mick, so she helps him with rowing.
The more they get to know each other, the more they begin to like each other. Kate doesn't really know what she feels for Cooper but she doesn't want to risk it, when she's so close to going to prom with Mick. But how does Cooper feel about this?

Operation Prom Date is so cute and adorable. I really loved reading the book. I love that it's so geeky and with otp's. I really liked how Kate and Cooper became such good friends and how they act around each other. They're so cute!!! The writing was enjoyable to read and the book was really fast paced. The only reason that it took me a while to read was because of homework. I will definitely read another book by Cindi Madsen!

Operation Prom Date was a cute and fun read. I adored the main characters and the romance was super sweet, although a bit predictable. I read this in one night and it was the perfect book for a break between all the fantasy I've been reading lately.

Rating: 4.25/5 Penguins

Quick Reasons: realistic, believable romance; lots of delicious angst and drama; this took me back to my younger years; entertaining snark, endearing characters; strong focus on familial relationships; huge personality, vibrant voice

Huge thanks to Cindi Madsen, Entangled: Crush, Chapter by Chapter, and Netgalley for sending me a free galley of this title in exchange for an honest review! This in no way altered my read of or opinions on this book.

---"I mean, I'm a little concerned that your knee-jerk reaction is *ss grabbing. I'm guessing you're either very popular or very unpopular with your rowing teammates."

A crooked grin spread across his face. "Depends on the teammate."---

I know, I know--I've been reading WAY too many contemporary romances lately. I just can't help myself, penguins! LOVE IS LOVE IS LOOOOOOVE, and it makes my life complete! Or...maybe I'm just a bit off my rocker? I don't know. Regardless, I've been LOVING the amount of love I'm reading, so...I don't intend to change it anytime soon? Don't worry. I'm sure someday I'll get tired of the cliches and tropes and move along to my next obsession, but right now? I believe in a thing called love, and I ain't giving up on the reads just yet.

That being said--this book? Super adorable with a side of give me your boyfriend, please. Because seeeeeeriously, penguins, Cooper is exactly the type of book boyfriend I fall for. Or, at least, ONE of the exact types, because let's be honest--I'm down for a lot of different book boyfriend types. (Which...explains why I root for the villains and the sweeties equally, I suppose) Cindi Madsen took me right back to my high school days with this read--I remember being somewhat like Kate, in fact. A lot awkward, a lot shy, and a lot unsure just exactly what I wanted (from life OR boys). The nostalgia caught me hardcore...and I enjoyed every delicious moment!

---"Did that sandwich just sleep with your girlfriend or something?" Jaden asked, drawing my attention back to him. He jerked his chin toward it. "Or are you just planning on mangling it into submission before you take a bite?"---

There are some hugely entertaining snark moments woven throughout this read. I especially loved Kate and Cooper's interactions--they were funny, heady with chemistry (invisible though it was to the two of them), and super endearing. Coupled with some emotionally heavy scenes--especially between Cooper and his dad--this book was gold. I really enjoyed watching these characters interact with and react to each other/the world surrounding them. I also loved that, while there's a bit of jealousy stemming from each of the main duo, there aren't any heavy moments of girl hate or violence.

Cindi Madsen helped me revisit my high school days with this endearing, snarky read--and I loved every delicious minute of it. The characters are well-rounded and the romance is believable. There's a twinge of jealousy in a few places...but that jealousy doesn't go much farther than a twinge. I definitely recommend this to lovers of contemporary romances, high school angst, and well-matched characters. Start your checklist, penguins; let the countdown begin!

Judging from the title, I wasn't sure what kind of cheesiness I was getting myself into. Seemed like Disney Original Movie kind of cheesy (which I actually like, so that wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing.)

But I was blown away and pleasantly surprised by this completely adorable story.

First off, like most romantic comedies, you know who she is going to end up with from the very beginning. But it's the journey of how they get there that matters. And what a journey. It is told from both perspectives so you see how each of them see the same situation they are in. And I fell head over heels for Cooper from the very beginning. I spent the whole book yelling at Kate and Cooper because I wanted them to get together so bad, but they seemed destined to ruin it.

I also loved that Kate was a math/stats geek and is able to use it to her advantage while out with the popular, but idiot, crowd.

If you are looking for a good summer read (or I wish it was summer read) then I highly recommend you pick up OPERATION PROM DATE. I give it 5 out of 5 Stars.
